'L'appartement du Chateau' is a self-catering/studio (gite) on the lower ground floor of our B&B ‘Chez Providence Chambres et Table d’hôte + Studio’ for those seeking independence. In the heart of a picturesque calm medieval rural mountain village surrounded by unspoilt nature, in a traditional stone, slate and timber house full of charm and character once part of the 12th century village ramparts. Original slate steps with exposed stone walls lead down from our entrance hall, it also has its own private access via a sunny gated courtyard. The apartment has been fully restored but retains charm and character. The Studio room has exposed stone walls a high ceiling and polished wooden floor. There is a cosy lounge area with a sofa (2 extra beds on request), an arm chair a coffee table, TV (English & French), a dining table and 4 chairs. There is a window and part glazed door onto a private courtyard. The fitted oak kitchen area is well equipped with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, a 4 ring electric hob & oven, a kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster, microwave, iron & ironing board and a hover. There is a large double bed (or twin beds on request) with an antique headboard and crisp white bed linen, there are bedside tables with lamps and a wardrobe with a rail and shelves, 4 slate stairs lead up to: The luxury tiled shower room has a slate floor with an antique double wash hand basin and taps with a large mirror and WC a double walk in shower, a heated towel rail and bathroom cabinet and a hairdryer. Outside there is a private walled gated paved suntrap courtyard with table and 4 chairs for alfresco dining or BBQ's a rocking chair and a raised herb bed and flowering tubs, and a view of the wooded hillside beyond. Across a quiet lane you also have use of our communal calm sunny garden with sun loungers, and tables and chairs under the shade of a grape arbour, and a BBQ and sink. The village of Cuxac-Cabardes is a quiet picturesque medieval village 20 km north of Carcassonne with ‘La Cite’ medieval and the Canal du Midi and 25 km south of Mazamet near the Tarn and the Minervoise in the valley of the river ‘Dure’ in the black mountains, the southernmost end of the Massif Central, with winding lanes and small squares with stone and slate shuttered houses. The village has good amenities; a restaurant, bar/restaurant, baker, butcher a well-stocked corner shop and a pharmacy. A pizza takeaway van calls most Monday evenings. There is a village green, pétange pitch, and children's play area, beside the river 'Dure' which runs down to meet the Canal du Midi. The village is surrounded by unspoilt nature with woods and forests and many walks, mountains and gorges, caves, swimming lakes, waterfalls and rivers, and nearby Cathar Châteaux, hidden medieval villages with their abbeys and churches, and undisturbed views and the 'Parc national du Haut- Languedoc'. You can visit markets, vineyards, farms, museums and art galleries. The local towns and villages hold car boot sales and fetes all summer long! Policies Free Wi-Fi. The beds are made up ready for your arrival (changed weekly), hand, bath, tea and beach towels are included (changed weekly). Baby equipment; cot, bed linen, high chair and bottle warmer are provided. The heating is electric. In summer the temperature here typical reaches 30° – 40°, air con is not necessary because the thick stone walls keeps the apartment at a comfortable temperature. The electricity is not included and is metered and charged at the end of your stay. A refundable 100€ breakage deposit is required on arrival.
