All areas of the hotel is kept in perfect condition, clean and very nicely decorated, arranged, creating and superb quality tranquil environment. Food is mostly homemade and always freshly prepared for breakfast as well as for dinner to an outstanding quality. There is a good selection of drinks from bar. Yolanda’s cakes are just amazing. All staff were very friendly and helpful. You can watch the stars from your bed at night in the rooms on top floor while at lower level you could enjoy access to balcony. Outdoor areas is also beautiful and relaxing. Alfredo knows the area very well and so he can give you loads of tips what to nearby. Pros: super attentive host and hostess
Pros: We booked two nights but we stayed three nights at this charming little hotell. I hope to come back in the future, love it. If you want to relax from everything go here. We spent two weeks in Cantabria/Asturia and the best food we was served here.
Pros: This stay was more than a 5 star hotel. If perfection exist than this is it. If you travel the nord of Spain than you must stay at least 1 night here.
Pros: Gorgeous location in pretty hamlet, beautiful views from balcony, magnificent property, warm welcome, excellent food (evening meal and breakfast). Highly recommended.
Pros: I Spend 14 days with them. In every aspect was great. Every detail is very important for them. Attention can not be better is just a great experience. A great concept done by a hard working couple. Congratulations, see you soon.
Cons: I can not stay more.
Pros: Alfredo and Yolanda are the perfect hosts, they have a fabulous hotel and their attention to detail is superb! What’s not to love, Muchas gracias
Pros: Very welcoming host. Lovely old building, beautifully restored. Sitting round the open fire in the comfortable lounge was really enjoyable. Good local food. Very convenient for evening ferry at Santander. Parking on site.
Cons: No lift but owner carried our bags up the stairs.

Pros: Good for a stopover, staff friendly, restaurant in front offers good food although a bit pricey.
Cons: Poor wifi, right by main road with nothing around within a walking distance.
Pros: Javier (the owners son) speaks English and could not do enough for us, a very pleasant man. Lovely evening meal.
Cons: It cannot be improved, the decoration and general ambience of the hotel is worth more than we paid (£40).
Pros: Kind, accommodating staff. Great restaurant.
Pros: The bed was super comfortable, The breakfast and the staff were Super Nice and the host was a very friendly man. (Javier)
Cons: The extra bed wasn’t comfortable
Pros: Well maintained, everything worked. Liked the decor, and the location for the riverside walk before we set off the next day. Its a quiet road, about 30 miles from Santander where we caught the ferry the next day. Its also close to a very enjoyable cycle route. We saw three red kites flying nearby, and visited a neolithic cave and its paintings ( 40,000 years old ) in a nearby village.
Pros: Friendly owner & staff. The premises were spotless! Interesting accommodation. Would recommend & will return when we are in the area. The bar & restaurant opposite were very good also.
Cons: Nothing. Excellent in every respect. Perfect stop over in every respect.
Pros: Good location next to the N623 but quiet in the evening even with the bedroom window open. The owner (3rd generation in the family) looked after us royally. We were five motorcyclists arriving a bit late in the wet. The chef (owners mum) cooked all our meals especially for us. The wine was a good price and excellent quality. The hotel has a lovely veg garden as well
Cons: If you want to be in the centre of town this is not for you. There is the hotel and the restaurant across the street. That's it.
Pros: good friendly service, nice location.
Cons: no complaints.
Pros: Excellent facilities, very peaceful
Cons: All good!
Pros: The owners were fantastic. Really nice people. Made us feel very welcome. Prepared food off the menu and at a late hour that was 100% homemade. Could not have been more hospitable. The owner has an exotic bird in a cage at the back of the restaurant area, and showed us how the bird relates to him by letting the bird out. It was really sweet. The little bird nuzzled up to him even though it had the option to fly away. Lovely to see that!
Cons: The property is beautiful. Typical Galician style. The room was large with plenty of room. The only difficulty was the usual double length pillow on the double bed. Very hard, and made it difficult to get comfortable and sleep well. But the owners were so helpful and accommodating that was so much more importan.
Pros: Beautiful property, lovely gardens. It’s owned by a husband and wife team with their daughter. He looks after the lovely gardens, she cooks and probably cleans and the daughter waits and deals with check-in and check-outs. The rooms were immaculate, the cleanest I’ve seen, except the shower head, that was covered in mould and disgusting.
Cons: The food portions were really mean. Never had 10 chips as a portion! I had lamb cutlets. There were 5 and they were beyond tiny. I had a glass of wine and it was about 75ml, I kid you not. The beers were also the smallest bottles you can buy. Forget all that though, this is the best. The room was boiling so we wanted to put the air con on. No remote. We went and asked and had to pay an extra €5 euros for it!!!!!! It’s a shame, the location was good, as was the hotel itself but it was totally spoilt by mean portions and the ridiculous policy of having to pay for heating/cooling. I’d have rather paid a bit more for the room and the dinner. I’m afraid we won’t go again. Lastly, we were the only guests that night, one wonders why! This place should be able rely on repeat customers being so close to Santander port. I guess many who have tried have the same feelings.
Pros: The owners are lovely! Extremely helpful and friendly. He makes superb red wine. She is a very good cook - have dinner! The gardens are beautiful. The location is perfect for the Ferries from Santander. A very quiet location. We will try to stay here if we need an over-nighter for Brittany Ferries.
Pros: Beautiful location. Staff are very nice. They make you feel at home.
Cons: No Bars or Restaurants nearby the hotel
Pros: How the family was so friendly tried and went out there way to speak with you.. The language barrier was not a problem... The cleanliness of every inch the place was so good.. The food was so outstanding.. It is a family run buisness that is so good

Pros: We were warmly welcomed by Maria Eugenia & Juan Carlos even though we arrived late. They treated us like friends and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful and we wished we’d arranged to stay longer. It was one of the highlights of our tour of northern Spain.
Pros: The place is very beautiful and the staff incredibly welcoming and helpful. The house decoration has a strong personality, and we gladly enjoyed it. Our room had some books and I had a good time looking at them. The outdoors of the property is also lovey. The location is also nice, pretty much a countryside experience near beautiful scenarios, caves and not so far from Santander.
Cons: The property is beautiful but is located near a busy road (at least considering that is the countryside) that somehow diminishes the experience. The breakfast was nice but not breathtaking.
Pros: A beautiful place hidden in the most stunning part of Spain. Love the shabby chic style, all the books, amazing hospitality and cosy rooms. We felt totally at home. Great tips on what to do in the area and so attentive and considerate.
Pros: Juan Carlos and Maria Eugenia were very welcoming and very helpful with all our questions and in planning our itinerary esch day.
Cons: The parking was difficult and the beds were uncomfortable. The house was quite a bit shabbier than it appeared in the photos.

Pros: It was a small quaint hotel, within a 40 minute drive of Santander, with lots of character a pleasant surprise. I even had a choice of bedroom, all of which were different.
Cons: I didn't mind that it was a very quiet location as I was travelling through.
Pros: Friendly & welcoming staff. Very convenient for overnight stop on way from Santander Ferry to Southern Spain; 5 minutes off the A 67. Comfortable beds.
Pros: We had a cosy night in front of a real fire. Village is in a valley set in Mountains with great views. Location is quiet and ideal to catch ferry from Santandar (35 minutes drive at 8:30 in the morning). The village is off A67 and served by railway (station is opposite the property). BUT there is no noise from these. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Cons: Bit difficult to find on our Sat Nav. But once in village it was signposted. GPS coordinates would be useful. Or put Las Fraguas railway station in search.
Pros: Beautiful rural location. We’ve travelled with our dog. And nothing too much from the hosts. They told us where to go to eat and it was superb - middle of nowhere and real ‘old fashion Spain’. Thank you for a great stay.

Pros: Beautiful decor. Stunning views and location. Great host. Wonderful breakfast. Very high standard rooms.
Pros: Last minute booking and late arrival all taken in his stride by the patron
Cons: Breakfast was a little pre packed nice coffee though

Pros: It was central within easy walk of shops, bars food etc, room was fine and bed comfy along with good wi fi. A good stop off point out of Santander, if you are heading south Spain or like me Portugal.
Cons: Not the easiest of hotels to find, although it is central and on asking was directed down the lane to the entrance. The breakfast was coffee and toast which you made yourself, but for the price it was ok and I was on my own without my wife, which might have been different had she been there.

Pros: NOT MUCH
Cons: Very poor breakfast, one piece of soggy toast and a coffee served one kilometre from the hotel. Hotel all closed up with no lights on early evening and had to ask a neighbour how to find owners.
Pros: Alejandro and staff were very helpfull. We had booked breakfast but due to our travel plans were unable to actually have breakfast at hotel Alejandro agreed to prepare for each of us a bocadillo, juice and something sweet on both days. Greatly appreciated by all 12 of us.
Cons: Very quiet, out on its own location. Restaurant and Hotel are a short distance apart from each other.
Pros: nothing b/fast one croissant one coffee a place not for us
Pros: The hotel is a nicely renovated stone house. It has new wood floors and trim all around. The room was large and had enough space to feel comfortable. The location lends itself to a restful and quite sleep. If you close the window you can easily sleep until noon or longer. The breakfast was a great compliment to the stay and included coffee, orange juice from concentrate and a choice of toast with tomato and olive oil, toasted croissant or a sweet bread pastry.
Cons: The breakfast is a bit basic for having a restaurant and the price that was paid for one night. The restaurant is not at the hotel but located not to far down the road from the place by car. You have to call in order to do the check in which was a bit of an annoyance when all you want to do is check in after hours of driving.
Pros: The girls at the restaurant were both very nice and the place was really clean.
Cons: The restaurant was about 800 mts away from the posada,so we had to drive to have breakfast. The room was on the ground floor and was very dark, there was only one little window just by the road,so the views were really just the wheels of cars driving by.If in bed,We had to close It as anybody could easily see us or just step in.
Pros: Beautiful quiet location. Breakfast was small but reasonable for the price.
Cons: In order to check-in, we had to first call/visit the restaurant, which is at a separate location to the hotel. The sign explaining this was in Spanish so if an English sign could also be provided - explaining how to find the restaurant - this would have eased the check-in.
Located in Costa Occidental de Cantabria, Posada Medieval el Manjon is in the mountains, within a 10-minute drive of Eucaliptón de Viérnoles and Hornos de La Pena Cave. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely staff, lovely dog! fabulous breakfast and coffee. great sized room and good shower!
Cons: It was very cold in my room. but it was the middle of winter and the staff were very quick to react and find me heaters to help heat it up as soon as they knew.
Pros: Close to the port and excellent food
Pros: Location was perfect
Cons: Breakfast not served until 9am . Not everything on the dinner menu was available Shower doors were not fitted properly and fell off .
Pros: Clean cosy bed. Very good food here.
Cons: The property has only stairs access the rooms which were on the second floor. Only Spanish speaking staff which caused communication problems. Cost for a pet was 15 euros compared to the 10 euros in other hotels that we stayed in Spain. Best suited to those who can speak Spanish fluently
Pros: The owners seemed pleased and very helpful to do their best, despite the total lack of English or Spanish on our part.
Cons: Nothing really.
Pros: Staff tried to be helpful no English spoken.
Cons: No air conditioning. Bedroom on 3rd floor. No lift , 6 flights of stairs. Low beams in bedroom hit our heads a few times. Dirty!!! toilet brush. Noise from traffic on main road. Came away with someone else’s credit card receipt not ours. No one at reception when leaving.
Pros: Lovely little hotel ,great location just off the A67 1/2 hour from Santander. Perfect for us as a quick stop.over on route to/from the ferry. Lovely clean room and lovely welcoming staff. Parking on site. Restaurant on site and breakfast available for a small fee although we didn't use so can't comment. Would have rated as excellent but for lukewarm hot water. Staff were lovely so sure it would have been sorted had we had more time but we were up early and off on our onward journey. Dog friendly.
Cons: Hot water was very lukewarm.
Pros: A romantic hotel with a 4 poster bed and outstanding service
Pros: The staff were very friendly and made me a packed breakfast as I had to leave very early. The only thing was the electricity cut at 4am so no hot shower in the morning:(
