We utilized Kayak.com to book two rooms at what we thought was a great deal. Upon check-in at the Plaza Hotel and Casino we were surprised to find out that we were to be charged an extra $15 per day and an extra $50 dollar "refundable fee" that has not yet cleared from the credit card (we fully paid upon booking). The $15 charges were not related to parking or room service but rather "resort fee". We could have booked a better room at a better hotel if we would have known about the "resort fee". We will never again utilize Kayak.com or the Plaza Hotel.
Right across the street from Fremont experience, easy walk to the Deuce bus, away from the "new" strip hustle. The room they gave us with a nice view facing Fremont was insanely loud, but didn't blink an eye when we asked to change at 12:45 AM! Clean and tasteful decor, comfortable bed.
Some loud partiers in the hallway, but hey, it's Vegas!
Location across from Freemont street was excellent.
Hot water makes a horrible news when being used in shower. Parking garage needs to be cleaned up. Walls are especially dirty.
Good location close to my destination.
The TV did not wor .
Rooms were pretty nice. Bed was comfortable. Very affordable at top of Fremont Street.
Could update pool, tennis and basketball courts.
Easy access to parking garage
Long wait to check in
Location and appearance was okay.
Customer service is horrible. I waited maybe more than an hour to get my room. Also for 235$ they gave me smoking room, after fighting with manager I get room for special need persons( disable room).
Refrigerator not working, coffee machine was dirty
location was good since i like downtwon.
Hotel was a dump even though it was just remolded. I think they forgot to do the bathrooms. The elevator situation is the worst i have ever seen.
It was easy to check in, and it's in a great location! You're right at the end of Fremont St, and can easily access anything there within a short walk. Valet was nice, and our room was good for the price. I wouldn't describe it as a very "high quality" hotel, but it did the job! Who spends all day in their hotel room in Vegas, anyway?
Our floor smelled like weed and the bed was hard.
Nice, clean updated rooms and they had free luggage storage
Check-in was ridiculously slow. They only have 1-2 people working even if there is a line. Took us 30 minutes to check-in.
Very classic Old Vegas, people were cool, but seemed like they were marking down the hours on the time clock. Not much joy in their jobs. Pretty amazing place that just needs a bit of enthusiasm,. Rooms were nice!
Parking is kind of dirty, floor of elevator has a lot of miles on it....
The check in process went as I was told money wise. No hidden fees!!! I like how all the staff was friendly and treated me beyond expectations. My room was big, comfortable and clean. Got my money's worth.
Casino was ok. Close to Fremont experience. Hash House a Go Go was great.
Outdated rooms. Pool area was dirty, empty beer cans all over, no seating and no shade. Hair dryer fell off wall, our door lock battery went dead and it took over a half hour for someone to come fix it while we were locked out of our room. Definitely won't be back.
well I did check the past reviews on this location and thought I try it out to see. Yes they did charge me online for 16 dollars and again at the hotel desk for the tax of 15 dollars and yes they did only hold back 50 dollars on my card most hotels on the strip hold at least 100 hundred so that's a deal in it self, this is not expensive folks my hotel cost under 40 dollars a night and yes I'm over 6 feet tale (6'2'') to be exact so the sinks were just right, I thought I was special not to have to bend over so far just to wash my hands, room was quite large and clean. stayed in room 603 and is bigger than my apartment. Did have my concern with the parking lot building and the neighborhood but the front desk and room made my feel safe and good about my stay. A plus its at the start of the Fremont Experience, and I liked my stay and will stay again, lost a little money gambling but most do. Will be back to the plaza and will use vegas.com
The housekeeping staff was great. We ate breakfasts at the Hash House A Go Go and the service was very cheerful and knew their menus.
When we arrived, even though our room was completely paid for in advance, we were told that there would be a $15.00 charge for each night and a security deposit of $50. The final bill added tax to the $15. charge so it was actually $16.95 . The $50 was to be credited back to my account. The bathroom was terrible. No skid pads on the bottom of the very slippery tub, no hook on the back of the door to hang a robe while showering, no soap dish, absolutely no room and the worse part was no door on the dressing area, which contained the six coat hangers and too high sink (came up to my chest!) No long mirror to check on our appearance before leaving the room. Also the fan was so noisy we had to get maintenance and he cleaned it and it was still almost as noisy. We also had have directions on how to turn on the TV. I will not be staying there again nor will I recommend it to my friends.
I like how all the staff was friendly, also house keeping was nice
The price was a little be to expensive
The only good thing at this hotel is the Hash House A Go Go restaurant.
The sink was so high we had to raise our arms up to wash hands - might be ok if you're over 6 feet tall. The tv was difficult to figure out as was the AC unit - there were no instructions on how to operate either. I pre-registered and was still not given the room I requested. The first room we got had a broken safe, as did the second room. The third room was finally ok. I won't be staying here again.
Rooms are big and nice. Very comfortable the restaurant should stay open a little later maybe could have a 24 hrs restaurant for late night people.
The convince to Freemont street
Nothing everything was perfect
We got a great deal on the room, which is always nice. We got the room for $31 for the night. But they added a $16 fee as soon as we arrived- that's about a 50% increase. While we could afford it, it's underhanded to get a hidden fee like that. And they claimed it was for "Free' wifi and bottled water. It also smelled heavily of chemical cleaner.
Close to Fremont st. Plenty to do and eat...good for the price but not for a long stay.
got to the hotel to check in and there is a $16 "resort fee" and a $50 deposite on top of the room rate. My kid turned on the heater and it filled the room with smoke. My wife took a shower and it flooded the whole bathroom. They must know about it because they have a sticker on the mirror warning you to "use bath mats for your saftey"...
The rooms were comfortable
The smell!!. The entire hotel had a stench of dirty old wet carpet, combined with the smell of tobacco. Security was also rude and less than helpful. The facilities were old and looked dirty. Parking is horrible and there is no direct access to the lobby, only to the back end of the casino.
Bathroom was way to small, pool wasn't open.
Downtown LV prices.Short check in and check out lines at the Plaza's front desk. The downtown location is great for those looking to gamble at slightly better odds with the different casinos close enough to walk to vs having to take taxis. The room in the S. Tower of the Plaza was above average as regards to size. I appreciated having an ironing bd/iron and a couple free waters there in the room. Personally I had no problem with the Plaza's parking. That's just downtown parking unless you valet.
All the Vegas hotels I've stayed at charge an ADDITIONAL $15 resort fee for things I don't use.Guess I should use Motel 6 if I wan't to avoid it. Although I thought I paid Kayak extra for an upgrade to a "view" room.I was given a 7th floor room with view of the parking lot and railroad tracks.Hotel said there was no note of a view room. Other things that left me disenchanted-No chain on hotel door. Two beds-3 pillows. No remote for tv and no TP in bathroom.Remote,TP and pillow may have been easily remedied if I would have made a call to the front desk, but I didn't.
The room was renovated and spacious, and the location at the top of Fremont Street was a plus.
Seedy elevators and parking garage, no coffee makers in rooms, and a McDonalds that had mysterious problems with their coffee brewers all weekend. Additional charges at check-in that were blamed on Kayak making it impossible to rectify. On hold for 40 mins trying to find location of nearest UrgentCare facility made me thankful I wasn't having a heart-attack!
Location right at one end of Fremont Street was a big plus, as was the food court in the hotel. The room was a good size and it was updated. The hot water was really hot in the evening.
There was no coffee maker. My wife takes showers in the morning and the water was near room temperature. Desk help was very slow in person and slower on the phone. The elevators were on the seedy side. The parking garage has tight turns at the entry with high curbs that are way too easy to hit. Finally, the weekend rates are way overpriced, but that is common in LV as is the use of the so-called resort fee which puts the advertised room rates into the fictional realm.
Customer service was horrible, the parking garage is only open 2 days a week and we had to park very far, two days in a row someone stopped by to check the shower and walked in without permission while I was in a towel and the other occasion sleeping. No microwave or refrigerator unless it was for an extra fee. Refrigerator alone was an extra 20$ a day fee. For that much extra I could have stayed at the strip.
The friendly staff along with Clean & spacious rooms. Comfortable beds.
No refrigerator in room Small showers Cheap bedding Small bath towels
The staff were friendly. The pizza place inside the casino was very good. Much better than the Subway and McDonalds inside.
I had to call the front desk for bath towels that weren't in the room for 2 days. The airport shuttle wasn't available when I was leaving. (It's only available three times a day, but today, only 2.) Extra hotel/resort fees bumped up the price a bit.
Free parking for guests, delicious pizza in the casino, good location, easy to get to
No in-room amenities (coffee machine, outlets, microwave, stereo), limited pool hours, cheap bedding
The building itself is nice and cool old Vegas style.
The staff was very slow and not engaged in providing customer service. The parking lot is dirty and made me feel less than secure. It seemed to me that the value provided by the super low price was affecting the quality of people the hotel could afford to hire. The low price is a benefit to me as a business traveler because I only need a safe place to sleep. But it seems to be affecting the hotels ability to hire quality workers.
Fire alarm kept coming on at night for three days..
The view...and location
Bathroom was not okay.... Had to change rooms
Liked Fremont street experience being directly across the street. Good view of fireworks for us on higher floor. Bingo in the building for the wife.
Didn't like the sinks in the bathroom(hard to explain but u would understand if you spent a night). Air conditioner never really got the room cool enough for us. Very small bathroom. And if your looking to play poker this is not the place. I walked down late night few tines and no poker going.
Bad. Real bad
The rooms were very dirty outdated and the hotel and casino very hot!!!
It's right next to Fremont Street, which was a pleasant surprise and made for some good entertainment while we were there.
When exiting the parking garage a piece of concrete sits up so far that it hit my car.
