Staff was really really nice, not the "sometime fake swiss nice" buy real nice. room was big and beds were very comfort, food was amazing during the entire stay. We visited in switzerland and across europe many times and this is one of the top hotels we've stayed in. We will definitly come back to gstaaderhof in the near future. recommended+ :-)
The attitude of your employees was most pleasing
the room was very comfortable and spacious. also very beautiful.clean and well designed.the surroundings/views were spectacular!!!
The staff was excellent as well as the facilities - highly recommend!
The Homemade Lasagna in the restaurant was out of this world
The view from our bedroom/balkony, friendly relaxed atmosphere, nice evening meal, cleanliness and comfort. No complaints
very large room, bathroom squeaky clean, very good location, friendly and effective service overall, excellent meals in this price category
Room was of a good size, clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Liked the welcome drink in reception. No
clean and comfortable room. very friendly staff both at reception and in the restaurant. the food was very good and tasty.
Free internet in the lobby. Breakfast included to the price and was nice. Friendly staff. Right behind the railway station so was easy to find. It wasn't clear enough on the booking.com that the hotels is not in Gstaad but in Schönried which is about 10min traintrip from Gstaad to Zweisimmen (4 cfh one way).
location, home atmosphere
Great location. Very nice room. Attentive staff
I felt that we got 5 star service at a 3 star hotel. When we arrived we had complimentary tea and delicious cake. Delicious fruit basked available at all times. Turned down bed at night. All in all, I can only recommend this hotel.
This hotel is an outstanding 3 star accomodation. The redone interior is charming and the rooms with the bacony overlooking the mountains were comfortable and the bacony certainly made the room because of the view. There was also good closet space. The bathroom was a little tight and the shower stall would not be a little tight for an hefty person. The breakfasts were very good and the staff was personable and helpful. We came to the area to see Gstaad but because of the time that we traveled (November) Gstaad was dead and Schonried was better with the hotels and restaurants open.Very enjoyable stay!
Quiet and comfortable rather than flash luxury. Very good kitchen. If you are travelling by train, it is very near station.
Impeccable hotel staff and facilities and although expensive the experience was worth it Nothing
Atmosphere, cleanliness, confort and location. Staff is the best. I find the restaurant good but not in line with the hotel. I mean staff excellent but it is not a gourmet restaurant. It is a typical grand hotel restaurant and in my opinion they need at least another restaurant smaller and michelin stars food.
Breakfast that was included in the price was very good. Since we were the only customers there were just couple of stuff in the hotel, but still it was nice. Good location in the centre of the village.
The owner and manager was very kind and helpfull.
Excellently located and fair value for money. Staff always courteous Quiet and relaxing and good for a short break, Nothing to report that was unsatisfactory.
The convenient location to the town of Gstaad and to the train station.
Hammam and spa itself was great. The food was also good. 1) Despite the fact that it is in Switzerland, tips were expected for every service and I was not used to this. When I travel in developing countries, I always give one dollar note, and giving a coin as tips for me was rather embarrassing but in Switzerland, note starts only with 10chf. I felt lots of pressures from hotel staff about this, and this made my stay rather uncomfortable. Probably it could have been better had I known from the beginning and planned as such. 2) Hand treatment and manicure was awfully expensive. I get more than twice in terms of both quality and quantity in half the price in Geneva.
It was worth to stay at the hotel, the view from the hotel is amazing, hotel is clean, service is perfect and the staff is very freindly. The spa and gym area are excellent. According to hotel standards, bed's mattress can be better.
The helpful and friendliness of all the staff. The breakfast / variety on offer was excellent. The meals 9dinners) were outstanding/quality food and cooking. Closeness to the station is excellent The pillows are very uncomfortable to sleep on - too big pillow cases with too little feathers inside? Suggest firmer quality pillows and at least 2 pillows per person.
Very friendly staff, good food and in a beautiful village setting. Traffic noise was a problem, although a bypass is due in August 2010, which should alleviate this.
The breakfast was exceptional, the rooms were good and well equiped. So king-size beds available, only twins. The type of the hotel was old-fashioned, which makes it difficult to attact younger generations of people, that is possibly for us the biggest drawback.
Staff were very helpful and courteous The bathroom was rather small
Very efficient and nice staff. Good location in the center of Saanen, 2 kms away from Gstaad. Very quiet. Good beds. Parking place just by the entrance of the hotel.
Close to the train station. In a beautiful small Swiss village close to Gstaad and easy access to train to Montreux and Bern 1to 2 hours away.
The staff were all really friendly and they tried their hardest to make you feel welcome. Great spot to get train and bus to Gstaad. It was very basic (restaurant and breakfasts very good though) but for the price in the area a very good choice.
Very well run hotel with excellent staff None
pools very old fashioned
the hotel itsself not in Gstaad
A Hotel we know and can recommend with friendly staff and many ammenities
excellent welcome and service in the hotel. very good all round for a relaxing and healthy break. TV in room in a cupboard that cannot be seen from the bed!!
The comfort and hospitality were exceptional,it was more like a 4 star hotel without a few extras. No.
many flies(bug), unfriendly staff
I just passed one night there. It was ok. Staff people were not friendly at all, rude and dry. It was very expensive for one night but it is Gstaad in high season. Anyway I stayed last year the same weekend and pay just 150 CHF for the same quality Hotel instead of CHF 350 CHF.
Registration desk not especially helpful. Location quite a distance from train. 20 minute walk to town.
Very nice hotel, friendly staff.
I loved dinner at the hotel restaurant and the friendliness of the staff The pool was closed.
The hotel and its staff were fantastic, the hotel itself is wonderful; great pool, lovely location, food is amazing and also great value (5 course dinner for under £10 !). The manager was lovely - she could not have been happier to assist with any little thing we asked for. We could not recommend this highly enough:- 11 stars out of 10 - and will be staying there again soon. There was nothing negative to say at all - wonderful !
provide 24-hrs free internet service. Free afternoon tea for hotel guest. There are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. a little bit far away from the train station.
Having a computer with internet access in the room. Room layout and basic furnishings weird to say the least.... never had rocks and a sign post set in the floor before... a bit too wacky! Compared to the thirteen other hotels stayed in on our tour unfortunately Alpine lodge came last on our value for money list and comfort...
A friendly, excellent hotel that offered superb value and excellent facilities None!
Relaxing athmosphere, produced by caring staff.warmhearted welcome of Gunter and Mirka.Breakfast buffet -- rich and fresh.Delicious meals in the restaurant.lovely swimming pool.IMac in the room. Comfortable bed.The rooms ,looking south ,are pleasant, worth of money you pay.The northbound are less so.Absolutely wonderful location. We missed a frige in the room. Also a safe would be an asset. And a small but important detail for women-a shower cap. That thing we haven't been given in any hotel in Switzerland.
good hotel with everything required and nothing unnecessary
Location, room, swimming pool, breakfast.
Excelent hotel, breakfast, services (pool, sauna etc).
Had a grwat stay; very friendly staff; comfortable, clean room. The pool and garden are wonderful. Will definately return in the near future and recommend this place to friends and family.
The ambiance at all places in the hotel! I enjoyed too much the piano bar and the restaurant !
The views and location. The common areas were dark and in desperate need of renovation and the rooms were very small and very expensive.
The cleanliness of the rooms, the nice location, the nice pool area The international cuisine of the restaurant for dinner
This is a hotel for families with children. We really enjoyed ourselves there with our kids. The spa area is very nice and even has a sauna for kids. The stuff is quite helpful and friendly. We spent a very relaxing Easter break there. The service at the hotel restaurant was quite slow, especially during dinner time. I think they need to hire more people there. It happened to us quite a few times that we needed to wait too long for our dish,or something else we ordered. Once they even forgot to bring us one of the starters. The hotel restaurant is also way too expensive if you do not have all inclusive or half board arrangement.
quiet athmosphere we found holes in the bed linen
The breakfast was really good and nice room. Excellent service from the staff, they could not do more from you!
The food was excellent and overall the hotel had a relaxing atmosphere
The spa and swimming pool are wonderful but be prepared for nudism in the sauna area
Everything! Location, cleanliness, helpful staff, excellent food - would highly recommend to anyone. The minibus service was very helpful but it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the hotel description. We walked from Saanen station - could do with some directions. We had to ask in a shop. Although the hotel seemed shocked that we had walked its quite a climb!
What we really liked was the spa/sauna area which semt new, tasteful and generous. The furnishing of the 70s (green checked carped, beige curtains with flowers on it and green/orange/beige striped lounge) and in general outdated accommodation.
hot air ballooning Better choice of food at breakfast, by paying more if necessary
Excellent location - right on the promenade and near the train station.
Very convenient location. Comfortable restaurant. Friendly staff. Breakfast selection a bit limited.
Perfect location at center of the Gstaad.
Food was good but the restaurant was very stark; no atmosphere. The room was uncomfortably warm and I was unable to adjust the radiator. Single rooms are small and the showers were so small it was only just possible to shower. Larger people would have a big problem!
the single room was very clean but small, though it was all right for one person to stay in. the hotel is located in the very centre of Gstaad, on the main shopping street, just 3 minutes walk form the railway station. decent price. friendly hotel staff. no refrigerator
The hotel is in the best position possible, right in the center of the famous 'promenade' much better than some of the more expensive hotels. The hotel even though only three star, was full of affluent people during Easter period when I was there, among them an English lord and family.
Very convenient, close to train station. Excellent hotel. Definitely worth a second visit.
I thought the room was very confortable and it was indicitive of the swiss mountain style. The view was quite nice as we had a balcony on the front of the hotel.
location in dowtown Gstaad, cleanliness of the room and kindness of the reception staff
A most charming hotel, very well run, exceptionally clean and tremendous attention to detail with very helpful and friendly staff.I would highly recommend this hotel. Despite being winter and bieng cold, the heating at times in the bedrooms was almost oppressive. It may also be a little bit far from the town centre.
The staff at Le Grand Chalet were very accomodating and informative about the hotel and about the area around Gstaad. The room for our family of four was perfect.
We stayed with three friends and had a wonderful weekend. Everything was perfect and the staff are very kind, nice and very efficient.
The concierge and stuff were extremely courteous, the room was very bright and spacious with the balcony facing the mountains. The restaurant at the hotel was amazing and the price was justified by the quality of the food. The price of the room was one of the best rates in Gstaad. May be a bit far from the centre of Gstaad, a car is needed. Otherwise one can take a taxi every time which can get quite expensive considering it's 15chf for ride.
The warm welcome of the staff, the room service was quick and efficient, everything was made to ensure comfort of clients
Quality of the service is absolutely perfect
Beds and linens are comfortable. Hotel is clean. They let us bring our dog. Food in the restaurant is absolutely horrible - inedible. No bath soap in the room. No shampoo or body wash either. Paper thin towels. Not at all convenient to the town of Leysin
Perfect for gourmet and romantic couples. Wonderful cuisine and service. Double bed is not very good suitable and confortable for two. (it's jumpy.)
Lovely small intimate hotel with fabulous views over Gstaad and Saanen. Restaurant was top quality with wonderful wines and the staff were all very pleasant and really helpful. Not cheap by uk standards but I would always stay here again when visiting Gstaad. Not the fault of the hotel but there was a building site a few hundred metres away which made constant noise from 0730 to 1800. It ws not deafening at all but ever present and the cranes spoilt the view. A temporary problem but one to be prepared for.
Big room, good restaurant inside no comment
nice hotel.. we had pretty good views from our room. Stayed there for two days. It lies on the road through which bus service to Col Du Pillon (Glacier 3000) passes.. And is is also next to a lift (Wispile).. Overall.. a good experience..
Stora, rena rum nära centrum och skidbacken, bra ordning på hotellet med en ständigt närvarande personal. Nej, bra service för pengarna
The closeness to the ski lifts It was far from the centre of the town, but the closeness to the slopes far outweighed this as a negative. It is easier to walk to the town that walk a long distance in ski boots.
The staff were extremely nice and they seemed to have given me an upgrade - the room was very comfortable. Some neighboring chalets block the view, but it could just be my room
Good food, very good location if skiing your priority. Very close to 2 lifts, but outside of city life. Rooms can be cleaner. There is a bar at the hotel where all local rednecks are gathering and i can not say that I did like it. Too many kids, and kids were so noisy!
Proximity to the slopes and lift The half board meal was only ordinary
The beakfast was one of the better ones I have had in Switzerland. Great variety..fresh fruits, homemade jelly. Very nice. It was just ok. I won't be back. Its too far from town. Rooms seemed cleaned but very warn and rustic. Staff always answered my questions but made me feel like I was bothering them. I noticed that with other guests also. I just didn't feel clean and relaxed there.
Our experience was just what we expected, confortable, quiet.Nice , helpful and corteous staff as well.
The staff was extremely nice, helpul (we were picked up from the station and back!)
View is great, room is very spacious, but design is very up to date most probably renovated 20years ago. To improve desing of the rooms
A very nice hotel worth a better grade then the 3 stars it has. Grate personal and the family room we had was super nice. The only thing would be that if you are there for skiing you need a transport to come to the slopes.
The family room was excellent, with a mezzanine level and a balcony with a panoramic view across to Gstaad. The staff were all very pleasant and very good with our children. The children enjoyed the Play Station room and we all loved the large swimming pool. And we had wonderful snow for skiing! A really relaxing, quiet, unstuffy, family-friendly hotel.
Kindness of staff, Access to the swimming pool Fair for the price paid. More questionning is that after we learned that booking directlywould allow a better price than Ebooking, as the kids under 9y old don't pay.
Very relaxed atmosphere; accomodated blind and visually impaired and disabled people who are very well integrated inot the normal clientele. Feels as if the tenets of corporate social responsibility are at work here. Would definitely stay here again.
Clean place but the decor is basic and awful.
Everything was fantastic, the reception, the welcome drink, the piscine, the room itself, the breakfast, etc.
Location, staff, service, cleanleniss.
comfortable, stylish and luxurious. room was hot no airconditioning
Excellent staff service, luxurious rooms and a great location. Saunas in the spa were excellent. Went to the Spa and was given a list of treatments to look through and select. Surprisingly when we tried to book a treatment we were told there was nothing available! Dissapointing when you are booking a spa break. Agree we should have perhaps booked treatments before we went however, we would have assumed there to have been some treatments available.
lovely hotel, great spa and pool, all minbar beverages included in room - nice touch, it is expesnive but expected value for money for the cost, breakfast should have been better, more 4 star vs 5 star
Lovely & luxurious hotel set in a beautiful garden full of lavender. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more professional . The piano bar man David was most entertaining and nice. The infinity pool with the view of the mountains and spa with all the different steam baths were wonderful and relaxing as were the treatments they offer. Was an excellent stay.
Everything. It was March, 8 and we asked the concierge to deliver flowers and he was able to do it in the early morning. Breakfast is very good. Hotel is renoovated and very clean.
the shower is not good
Fabulous service from all departments. The hotel is immaculate and extremely comfortable.Worth every franc. Nothing
courtesy of staff atention to details helpfulness defective shower head in room 201
Very friendly hotel with great staff. The owner came to see us at breakfast and was very helpful.
Staff at the reception more than very helpfull (Barbara), nice driver. Large room with a fantastic balcony and view poor kitchen and poor service in the restaurant. Restaurants in Gstaad give better value for money. Breakfast ok
the service and cleanliness the price of the laundry
Friendly and relaxing atmosphere
Great rooms, excellent service; fabulous meals in the hotel restaurant. WiFi was not free.
Good location, quite Had to pay for internet access, it should be free
The environment - mountains, countryside, cows! The bed was not very comfortable.
spacious room and quietness, quality of breakfasts
Friendly and helpful staff, Chef welcomed us late at night. The TV's in the rooms are not acceptable - 21st century and the tv is smaller than my computer screen. I would also expect a dvd player or sound system. Breakfast buffet was a bit "light". Eventhough we were very few guests in the hotel there should be the full offering.
its just like a peace of heaven. you can find entusiasem with this hotel because of its history and also view. special design which is charming and made very special feeling. kitchen is wonderful wellcomming hotel transfer . thay take you back to train station.
The beautiful view from the terrace on to the Mountains
Very comfortable rooms and friendly multilingual staff.
Very comfortable and friendly staff. Beautiful views. As in all of switzerland, food prices are very high.
The owner's and staff's attention to detail. Everything was just perfect. Definitely worth the 150 mile detour to stay there.
Lovely people -great hostess and staff. We arrived very late in the night and they made us dinner and sent it over to our chalet. Our chalet was perfect - nicely furnished with a nice view of the mountains. Food was good too. We had a punctured tire and they got someone to fix it. The 200m walk from our chalet to the main hotel building seemed dangerous - on the main road, no pedestrial lane, zooming vehicles on both sides. Breakfast was a little too spartan (but of high quality though).
Quaint hotel with character in Relais & Chateaux group. Good demi-pension rates. Nice owners.
Beautiful view Room quality
Service was extremely good without being fussy. The rooms were of a high standard with lovely views towards the mountains. Schonreid is perfectly placed for ski-ing with Gstaad just 6 minutes away by train.
