The bedroom was spacious, modern and clean and the hotel in general was very pleasant. It is very close to the town where there are lots of very nice pubs and restaurants. I didn't like the dining room, it was like a function room. It was obvious that the hotel caters mainly for tours in this case, I think a smaller dining room would be more appropriate for non tour guests.
central location to town friendliness & helpfulness of staff & hotel itself is very nice & good leisure centre
If you stay in this hotel be sure to go for the fabulous buffet breakfast. The range on offer was terrific.
The room was very nice and comfortable, hotel staff very helpful. We stayed there for a wedding reception of my sister-in-law. The whole event has been organised perfectly, the wedding reception room was decorated in a very nice style and the food was excellent together with very efficient serving staff.
the spa the older part of the hotel is shabby, and the bathrooms not very nice
Restaurant. Food was a very high standard. Leisure facilities.excellant Towels could have been bigger.
we enjoyed our stay had a spa treatment and really enjoyed the break my spa treatment
A good location and base for touring this very scenic part of Ireland combined with excellent rooms and hotel facilities. Nothing we didn't like about the hotel. We will use this hotel again.
Convenient for the Town Centre Breakfast Buffet not replenished after Coach Tours had eaten. Current bulding on site.
rooms were large enough for 2 adults and 3 children. the pool is spacious witha great kiddies area.
The scenery was amazing and the food was excellent. Also enjoyed the lodge which was very comfortable and spacious. Couldn't say I disliked anything about our stay and would certainly go back again!.
The grounds are amazing. The free boat ride is a lovely touch and the music in the bar in the evening was lovely. The spa was lovely.
Room was very small and in need of some refurbishment. Also water was cut off (not the hotels fault) for most of the first day of our stay
I loved the accomadation of the lodges. There were 5 of us and yet we did not feel cramped at all.The wooded walks all around the hotel were very well laid out and the children adored going on these adventures! I didn't like the fact that the bar menu closes at 6pm.Also when we did get room service we had to walk to collet the food from the lodges which on a rainy night wasn't that pleasant.
Apartment facilities very good and great value for money
The relaxed atmosphere and the magnificent surroundings. We felt we were in another world which was peaceful and beautiful. Highly recommend. The excellent low-key service contributed to this otherworld feeling.
the relaxed ambiance and the magnific SPA and Pool area the entertainment in the bar was terrible
Ambience and location Needs more lifts installed
We enjoyed a very relaxing family break surrounded by beautiful grounds and it was a perfect location for touring around Kerry. The pool closing time 5pm for children under 16yrs was too restrictive for our older children 11 13 and 15 yrs. It meant after a day touring the area they were home at 6pm and unable to use pool. Unpopular decision on part of hotel.
Charming old world hotel, excellent spa, fantastic walks
The location on the ring of Kerry is fantastic. Fact that hotel is within walking distance of village also a plus. Great sense of space in the hotel rooms.
The quality and attention to detail from the courtesy biscuits to the luxurious bed linen
food excellent no
the staff were exceptionally helpful and cheerful
The hotel was fabulous, the staff were very friendly and courteous, the food choice and standard were terrific and the rooms were of a very high standard.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. The bed was comfortable and the house staff most agreeable. Apart from the guestrooms, there is no apparent place for relaxing or reading. The open plan of the foyer is pleasant for the visitor, but it does not make for generating any atmosphere of comfort for the resident guest.
Hotel was clean, staff very helpful.
first class food rooms elevators staff. Ideal base for touring Kenmare and Bantry bays and peninsulas
fantastic lovely place to stay very convenient to village
A very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful --- nothing was a problem.Loved the walks around the Hotel and loved the views from our bedroom--- view of the lake and mountains. Would love to see a swimming pool in the Hotel,
One of the most awesome hotels I've stayed in. Well worth it for a weekend break but almost wasted if it's only for one night.
Comfortable room. Tea/coffee making facilities for the room were available on request but when requested there were not any to be had - only 10 trays to whole hotel and they were all out. Not to be expected of a 5 star hotel. Had to go out and buy a kettle.
I liked the rooms and the sound of the waterfall. Dining room very pleasant No
Check-in was very efficient. I'd requested a room with a view,as it was a special night away for my wife's bifthday, and we were upgraded. Staff were attentive, without being too obtrusive. A very pleasant stay, just what we wanted. Facilties were good, Pool area could do with a little freshening up.
The staff where so helpful the settings are amazing it is a top class hotel. The price
Slightly disappointed given its reputation .....appears to be slightly complacent in terms of service and offer and living on past glories !!
there was a mix up with my online booking (which was not really the hotels fault) nevertheless the hotel staff made me feel at ease and they were very generous to upgrade our stay when the booking got sorted. The staff really made the experience for me. i am fortunate enough in my work to stay in many hotels around the country, many have great amenities and are in great locations but few make you feel so welcome. Maybe from a functions point of view it might be a little short on parking spaces. However, that didn't effect me.
Charming hotel - very comfortable and staff were helpful andfriendly My husband said the spa facilities were excellent, and very clean.
Fantastic condo-like accomodations. Very spacious and well-equipped. Clean and comfortable. Great value for our group. No
Lodges were very modern and clean and it was an ideal location to see Kenmare and the surrounding area. Only one quibble and that was when we were informed that the electricity was separate (understandable) but we were not giving any readings and so was a little surprised to be hit with an electricity bill for €30 when we we did not spend that much time in the lodge over the weekend.
the fact that they were so modern and up to date with everything you need in a home from home when you have children
Spent 2 nights in the bay hotel lodge and loved it. was a fantastic break. will definatly return
Location was fabulous - beautiful, quaint Kenmare. We loved the pathway to the town center. We stayed in the lodges and found them to be clean, very spacious, modern, and had everything we needed. While we didn't have much contact with staff (other than check-in/out), and we did not eat in the restaurant, we loved our space in the lodge. I was also impressed that Kenmare Bay Hotel/Lodges are a green facility and practice recycling/conservation. It is so important for a small country like the Republic of Ireland, and the beautiful Kerry County and surrounding area to stay preserved and clean. Our place was peaceful, quiet, and exceeded our expectations! We loved surrounding Kenmare and found it a great town that had all we needed; shops, restaurants, pubs, music, and gorgeous scenery. Thank you for your hospitality! Nothing!
great location only 3 min walk into town, we will definitely stay here again. the only thing was that on checking out we were charged a utilty bill of €10 per day that we didn't know about when we were making the booking. other than that everything was perfect.
The lodge was very pretty, but it certainly had not been properly inspected before we used it. The staff was helpful and responded very well. They also gave us a nice complimentary breakfast and a discount on our bill so the leaks and missing bathroom issues didn't seem so bad. The place is brand new, very beautiful and once the "newness" is worked out, it will be lovely. We had a severe bathroom leak at 11:00 at night. Also, we were unable to use two of the three bathrooms in the lodge. Sewage water came into the bathtub and shower when the toilet was flushed. Also, the panel on the dishwasher came right off in my hands and I was unable to put it back properly. The lodge was new and quite beautiful, but it had issues. I'm sure they will work out the "newness"
Large units, well fitted out and quiet. Nice swimming pool (although be sure to bring adult swimming costumes as kids can't swim with out a parent in the pool. Great little town - leaves Killarney for dead!
The lodges were very well presented and comfortable and only a 3 monute walk into the town. They were great value for money and would definately stay there again.
The family apartment was very nicely laid out, nicely decorated and very clean. I had to spend over 30 minutes inventorying all of the items in the apartment prior to checkout--this should not be necessary.
The lodge we stayed in was only recently completed and is of a very high standard. I hope that the hotel invests in regular maintenance to ensure they remain so.
Friendliness of staff. Amenities in room. Presentation of food. Outskirts of town. Room not well soundproofed - you could hear next door going to the toilet.
Friendly staff. great room, food available on premise was excellant, Close to town centre & easy access Service at breakfast was slow & disinterested on both mornings we stayed.
Comfortable & big bed TV not great & no remote control provided
The decor was modern yet warm and cosy and the staff were extremely nice and friendly
Very helpful staff and great style.
Excellent staff, modern design, great food, comfy beds. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, only a minor gripe.
The Brook Lane Hotel was warm, comfortable, and welcoming. The staff were very helpful and engaging. They were genuinely interested in our comfort and interests.
Welcome at reception. Warmth and comfort of the room. Helpfulness of staff in recommending where to eat, where to visit.
Friendly staff, great location.
A lovely contemporary hotel with polite and friendly staff, food was excellent
The friendliness of the staff and the beautiful modern accommodation
The staff was very kind
Spacious, comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast!
Excellant staff and owners. Great breakfasts. Wonderful town. Beds were not too comfortable. Shower and hot water difficult.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Lighting in the rooms is poor. Towels in the bathroom were a bit old and threadbare
rooms were very big for the price bracket the air exhaust from kitchen made an awful noise, but did go off completely about 12:30AM
it's central location Parking is a bit dodgy
Right in the centre of town but surprisingly quiet ie: the best of both worlds. The staff were very nice and went out of their way to look after us. Food in both the bar/restaurant and breakfast room was good.
A great place to stay in the main street of a great town - don't miss it when you travel to Ireland.
Room was very wonderful and spacious. Location was perfect, right in the middle of town. Breakfast was wonderful. Very welcoming of their guests. We loved our stay. Bar stayed open late for our group - excellent! The rate was a bit high for the off-season.
Beautiful area and view, very nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food.
Absolutely quiet rooms, perfect cleanliness. Beautiful view to mountains and bay from our room. Lovely home-smoked salmon for breakfast.
The welcome we got from the guesthouse staff we felt relaxed at at home
Beautiful location overlooking a river & very peaceful. Owners very friendly & helpful. Breakfast very good & rooms very clean.
Friendly proprieters, lovely view, relaxing.
We had reserved for 2 nights, and changed our plans so we cancelled the 2nd night. I was (fairly) charged a 15% cancellation fee, but it wasn't calculated correctly (I was overcharged, but let it go) and 3 days later I got an email notification that I'm being charged a "no-show" EUR 79 fee as well.
The room was excellent with a wonderful view to the river. The staff was superb and friendly. I highly recommend this place as a choice to visit the area (i.e. Ring of Kerry)
Very friendly hostess who had time to chat and discuss the area.Very good breakfast in congenial surroundings. I would have prefered rea making facilities in the room.
the proprietor of the guesthouse was very kind and, the rooms comfortable and the location is beautiful.
Nice view through woods to the sea. Good sized room. Friendly staff. Not cheap
Location was excellent and the staff were very accommodating.
The hotel is extremely central and we had a fantastic room
It is a really nice hotel with huge modern rooms. I will give it 4 stars out of 5. Its difficult to find parking around it, the hotel does not have its own parking thus giving 4 stars.
Location is terrific and rooms size was reasonable extremely noisy on Saturday night, only 2 TV chanels, and management didn't respond well to complaints about noise and people baging on our door during the night-a tad scary!
they were very accommodating to us as we had a 6 month old baby, steriling bottles etc was no issue. The lift is at the other end of the building to the reception.
Very central location . Friendly staff
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The heated bathroom floor is a nice touch.
Owners welcomed us and gave us all the details on what functions we could enjoy if we wished at the hotel as soon as arrived. leaving us to decide what our plans would be. bedroom was spacous, warm and comfortable.
Location was good. Staff were grand. No wifi, no tea/coffee in room, heat did not work, noisy, no food on offer in evening. No satellite television Not as advertised.
I found the hotel to be in a perfect location in the town, the room was spotless.
Location, the rooms were large and bright, and the bed very comfortable, and even though there was some work being done to the Hotel, it wasn't obtrusive the shower in our room was broken, perhaps they should be a little more observant when cleaning.
Friendly staff, friendly locals. Beautiful and quaint. Wall are a little thin, could hear people in the bathroom upstairs quite clearly!!
location suited my needs, was central in the village and easy to find. Room was very nicely furnished and comfortable I understand this hotel is new to the area, and whilst the quality was good (4*) I don't feel it was quite at 4* level. The reception area is very basic, there were no bathroom products only plastic cups,no room safe deposit and no lock on the adjoining door! Fortunately the room next door was empty but we had to wedge a chair against it to feel secure during the night. They obviously are still very new and have a few teething troubles to fix. However we found the staff we spoke to polite and helpful, one even brought our sandwich up to our room to save us waiting at the bar
The staff were very pleasant and environment was relaxing. It would hav ebeen greta to have had a biscuit wiht the tea /coffee facilities in room.
The receptionist's were very friendly and made me feel at ease and were also very helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The national park walk directly opposite meant that this hotel was in an excellent position. The restaurant was also a lovely place to eat. Great food and plenty of it. Apart from a leaky sink, (which I only noticed on the last day and did report) I wasn't too happy with having to leave the key card in a slot just to keep the electricity on. Also there was no shower curtain which made showering a bit awkward. Apart from that I was generally happy with the room.
Access to fabulous Beara Peninsula and great town pubs and restaurants, walks and harbour trips. Friendly staff, great room and facilities. Thinnish walls, some noise heard from other rooms and the hallway.
Beautiful location, friendly helpful service, spotlessly clean nicely furbished welcoming comfortable hotel with holiday friendly late breakfast . I would stay here agian. expensive off season bed and breakfast rate.
friendliness of staff
The staff were - without exception - happy, friendly and helpful. The receptionist who dealt with us was outstanding. She happily showed us 4 different rooms for our selection. This involved going up and down stairs several times and despite this she remained cheerful! The hotel description is inaccurate as it is currently written. They are building a spa and installing a lift - these facilities are already featured in the write up. We enjoyed our stay however.
no satellite TV; poor cable channels in the room
Gracious hosts, lovely grounds and great location The average age of guests is quite old. The food was somewhat bland, if nicely prepared
It served its purpose as a place of relaxation in old and comfortable surroundings with a very friendly staff If a room is called a library then it should not be used as a TV room. Despite my removing of 2 heavy blankets and wanting only a sheet in the middle of summer, these were replaced on making up the bed by room staff.
Restaurant staff and porter were efficient, pleasant and helpful. The reception we received when we returned just before 02.00am was not acceptable. The indiivdual concerned was rude, commented on the lateness of the hour and the fact that ringing the bell once was more than adequate. [We rang it twice after a significant wait following the first time!] The individual asked us could we not see she had a cane, was having difficulty walking and that it took her some time to come to the front door. Perhaps someone else could have done the night porter job, if this was such a difficulty? We were told we should have gone to the back entrance - news to us, We were not advise of this by the receptionist earlier and would of course have done so had that been the case. Not a good experience. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone I know. The Maritime Hotel would have been a far better option for the same price.
Lovely Hotel in excellent surroundings. The staff manage to make you feel that you are very welcome. The food is excellent and the service first class.
I have answered this on question one No
Everything. We enjoyed everything. A lovely experience. The coffee from room service was too strong but I should have asked for hot water to add to it.
The friendleness Not really
The warm welcome received, the classic bedroom with huge en suite and the delicious food. Could not fault anything. Nothing
The room was quaint and very cute...but the food was fabulous. We had fish courses that were excellent...and the atmosphere of the dining area was superb. There was even live Irish music the evening we dined. But best of all was the friendly attitude of the hotel staff (owners)...we were made to feel very welcome, almost a part of the family. Mary was especially friendly, despite being very busy with a full house, she took time to chat.
I liked everything about this hotel, this was not my first time there and each time, it was perfect. I love to come down for drinks, sit by the fireside and peruse the menu at leisure then order. When the dining-room opens, my table is ready, the starters are coming and there is absolutely no fuss. The staff is perfectly styled to be present and helpful without being over your shoulder. I love having tea in the lounge afterwards. I love the feeling that this is a home away from home, but with staff to serve me.
