Self Catering Holiday in the Ardêche Commanding dramatic views over the Rhone Valley to the French Alps, "La Mirande" sits in perfect isolation on a plateau 700m above sea level. Surrounded by farmland, 6,000m2 of private orchard and garden, it is an island of great tranquility. La Mirande is part of an old farm house first built over 200 years ago. It has been renovated using the skills of local artisans who have a deep respect and understanding of the traditional building techniques of the region. The interiors however reflect more contemporary standards of design. The nearest town, Privas, is only 15mn drive away and offers everything from country markets to high class super markets. The Cottage - Self catering - Standard 550 Euros per week Totally separate from the main house, this renovated barn has an open living concept: Approx. 100m2 (1076 sf) accommodating maximum 6 persons. It has its own entrance and terrace, with direct access to the garden and orchard area. Plenty of parking - WiFi available. - Kitchen on the ground floor with stairs leading up to the main living area. - Clothes washer, dishwasher, stove, fridge - all essentials for cooking. - Living room with high wood ceilings giving the space an airy openness. - Large bathroom with shower and toilet. - Second toilet on the lower level. - Generous mezzanine level which supplies the main sleeping area for two. - Linens provided for two people. Extra charge for additional guests. - Second large room with excellent exposure has large windows and skylights, making it a wonderful area to bask in the sun, relax, read or write and enjoy the incredible views. - Because of its privacy this sun room can also be used as a second bedroom. The floors of the whole house are tiled in beautiful blue grey tiles heated in winter by geothermal floor heating. This geothermal system also supplies the energy for the hot water. For wine buffs, we offer the opportunity to bottle your own wine. Nearby you can also visit a gold medal winning goat cheese farm. First class French cuisine can be provided for your dining pleasure. complete with accompanying wine. Dinner for two - 49 Euro including local wine. Guided day trip options Caves and prehistory of the Ardèche – river and rock scenery, the cathedral-like Orgnan Cave, hidden caves, Vallon Pont d’Arc and the amazing Chauvet story Avignon - City of the Papal Palace, the famous bridge of the song and great restaurants and shopping, followed by nougat at Montelimar Romans and wine - the amphitheatre and Roman museum at Alba, the fabulous Pont du Gard aqueduct, modern and Roman vineyards Day trips are 150 euros for two people and 220 euros for four people, transport and picnic included, bookings 1 day in advance.
