10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed at La Maison du Potager de Mazières a number of times, most recently in October 2018, using it as an overnight stop en route to Spain. It is perfectly located for such a stop, situated centrally in France, but equally would work well as a main holiday destination. The accommodation is a converted barn in the gardens of a stunning French chateau, rurally located but within easy reach of picturesque villages and the larger town of Bourges. The room itself is beautiful, with significant attention to detail, and extremely comfortable. There is a swimming pool and table tennis, and a few dogs and cats to welcome your arrival. The hosts, Alex and Aulde are very welcoming and the breakfast is relaxed and delicious. All in all, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s by far our favourite overnight stop in France.
Cons: Not a thing, you’d have to be unbelievably picky to find any fault with this wonderful place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely everything was great. This gorgeous property is in a remote little area only a 20 minute drive from the city Bourges. The host is lovely and she makes you feel so welcome in the guesthouse. The kitchen which was free to use and lovely was just downstairs from our room. The hosts Aulde and Alec are a delightful couple and so very helpful. The breakfast is extensive and really sustaining to a long-distance Walker.
Cons: It would be great if the WiFi reached the individual rooms. Other than that, it’s difficult to fault.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very welcoming and spoke with such interest and love of their house and the theatre they had created. We were charmed that such a renowned musician as Frank took time to play one of his own compositions for us on his magnificent piano. The house is furnished in great detail in the fin de siecle style so there was a lot to look at. The breakfast in the conservatory was wonderful and the house was a stroll away from the old town area of Bourges. We were also pleased to have the owners' recommendation for restaurants that were good and were open an a Sunday night.

Pros: This was our final stopover in France before heading home and we could not have picked better. Aude was most welcoming and spoke perfect English. We were given the family suite which Aude and her husband have renovated beautifully. Our rooms (three bedrooms and huge bathroom) were spotless with perfect crisp bed linen and breakfast was just what we needed before setting off - coffee, croissants/baguettes with homemade jam and hot chocolate for the children. We truly loved our stay here and hope to return one day very soon. The final touch was being waved off and wished au revoir by Aude's small children - wonderful.
Cons: Absolutely nothing :)

Pros: Friendly, very accommodating, host can speak several languages, rooms were very well presented and spacious with air conditioning in the majority of rooms. Good selection for breakfast, wonderful location.
Cons: Wi-Fi didn't reach our part of the house, not that it was a deal breaker by any means but limited the amount of communication to family and relatives back home to advise that we had arrived safely. If our stay had been any longer than one night it may have been slightly more of an issue.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We booked this guest house based on location and previous reviews. it was a short walk to the old town through some of the back streets although this was not a problem. The room was amazing spotlessly clean with everything you could want - including tea/coffee - very quiet despite being on a main road. The bed was very comfortable the bathroom, while small, was fine with a good shower. The breakfast - all homemade - was a delight and the owner attentive without fussing. Highly recommended. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building.
Cons: Nothing just one minor suggestion that there should be a hand rail on the wall side of the stairs its steep so would stop guests putting their hands on the wall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very near to centre of town so able to park the car and walk out for the evening. Near busy road but quiet at night and room well soundproofed. Breakfast all home made. Best point - Fig jam

Pros: Fantastic stop on our long journey north from Spain. It looks humdrum from the outside but don’t be mislead, the quality of the accommodation is excellent. Breakfast is not to be missed. The delightful owner bakes everything herself and the patisserie is delectable. Bourges is a lovely old town with a good choice of eateries and a great pub (Le Jacques Cœur). Highly recommended

Cons: GPS brought us to street, but then it was not apparent where to go as numbers run funny. I went left but it was right and had to ask a local.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: we enjoyed everything. This is a beautiful old house that has been and continues to be restored. It was like nothing else we have ever stayed in, a true piece of history. The bedrooms were grand and magnificent and the breakfast was superb.
Cons: Absoulutely nothing!

Pros: A place of charm and character- a restored water mill - delightful bedroom and communal sitting room. Set in pleasant rural location- an excellent stopover on our way to the sun
Cons: All good

Pros: Very rural but near main motorway
Cons: Aggressive dogs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you want accommodation that is a bit different from the usual, look no further. Pascalle is a wonderful hostess. Although she doesn't speak English we got along very well. The space around the mill is great for relaxing and reading. The area is very tranquil - but also fairly close to the beautiful city of Bourges.
Cons: There is nothing here that we didn't like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location a few minutes from motorway but very rural, peaceful and safe for parking a car overnight. The kitchen facilities are great for making a simple meal.
Cons: It is an old renovated mill, over 4 floors. The bedrooms are on the second floor and above and some may find the stairs inconvenient.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely old mill in nice grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful The old mill is still there to look at
Cons: The rooms had no air conditioning and were very hot No hair dryer in the room. Probably the worst was the noise from the rooms above. It is a traditional building with beamed ceilings wooden floor boards and no insulation. Even when the people above were moving slowly you could hear every step
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good standard of accommodation in a very pleasant setting. The breakfast was good especially the coffee.
Cons: No curtain in the bathroom window
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, inside and out. Very clean. Good kitchen facilities. Good location for motorway travellers.
Cons: Lack of air con as it was very hot during our stay and couldn't leave windows open as no mosquito screens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had 3 rooms here for an overnight stop en route to the Dordogne and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our accommodation. Jacques, the owner, was very informative as to the history of the mill and very helpful. He had 2 very sweet dogs who were not disruptive at all and a very old Donkey - Valentin who children would love. Breakfast was super fresh and served to our timetable. Remember you pay cash at the end of your stay. Thoroughly recommend

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb find. Not much else in the village but this establishment is a gem. Simple, almost minimalist, rooms but smart & adequate. The restaurant is in a class of its own, beautifully presented & tasty French dinner served with Japanese perfection, style & manners. Easy private parking.
Cons: Stayed only one stopover night - will spend longer next time to enjoy the hotel & explore the surrounding vineyards.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A 3 stars hotel in middle of nowhere. The restaurant and hotel is run by a Japanese couple who take the challenge of running this place in 2011. Both hotel decoration and food are excellent.
Cons: Nothing - I will come back to this place... it is just a question of time

Pros: The location, the green, the owners!!!
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We thought the breakfast was very good with a wide selection of home made jams. Plenty of choice of pastries. The tea was very weak though.
Cons: We would have liked an evening meal. Many Chambres d'hotes around France offer an evening meal (Table d'hote) with local dishes which we like. It also avoids having to drive around to find a restaurant and the problem of not being able to enjoy local wine with a meal. On this occasion we found a good restaurant quite close to the B&B in Bourges.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There is little to say when everything is good. The room was big and nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. The bathroom recently refurbished with a super shower. The building itself ia a restored 15th century long house. Fabulous gardens, parking next to the rooms, the whole in a calm and quiet private domain. Breakfast was all homemade with plenty of choice. The welcome by the owner was friendly and very helpfull. We only stayed the one night with a quick visit into Bourges to eat but, I could easily spend a few days to visit the town (anyone that likes 15th century buildings and streets will love it ) or a week or two for a real break.
Cons: Sign posting could be better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's charming and the owners friendly and accommodating. 2nd time we've been and we love it's old rustic charm. Great stop over travelling up from Spain back to the UK as is right in the middle of France with the historic town of Bourges on its doorstep.
Cons: There was nothing not to like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous farm. We had a large very comfortable room with a door onto a large and wild garden. Breakfast was French and more than adequate. The owner was very friendly and informative. Love to stay over in summer so I can swim in their very large pool.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: very nice owners and a very nicely furnished room....we also enjoyed the other guests
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. ...................................
Cons: Prefer normal size pillows, the large square pillows take up too much room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to our destination we drove through an abundance of busy supermarkets and fast food chains but then turned left onto the peaceful drive of the farmhouse gite. The building is very old french style and absolutely beautiful with pretty shutters and rambling roses growing along the walls. We were immediately met by the very friendly, welcoming owner and shown to our room. The room was of a good size with a King sized bed, nice decor, a bath plus overhead shower, plenty of towels and hot water! The room opened onto a small private terrace with table and chairs and flowed onto an expanse of natural garden with an abundance of native trees and fruit trees. There was also a communal kitchen area with a fridge, toaster and kettle. Breakfast was continental style with homemade preserves. The owners were both delightful and very accommodating to our well behaved border collie. The town of Bourges is about a 10 minute drive away but totally stunning...with a massive cathedral and beautiful timbered houses lining the streets. There is also a plethora of restaurants and bistros available surrounding a very pretty square.
Cons: Nothing!

We have two small dogs so the walks around the nearby grounds are fantastic, the park has the canal, lakes & streams, the remains of an old castle like structure, the school is nearby so you hear the children laughing as they play. A very good restaurant in the town (L'Octroi) & a nice bar near the canal bridge (Bar de France).

6.3 Good
Pros: plastic cups .
Cons: Request for 7 am breakfast on last day. Immediately told no . They could at least give us bread/pastry , yougurt , fruit and a can of water or juice to take away . Can even give up the night before. No paper cup or real cup to make tea . Only have Plastic cups .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location next to a fabulous park. Ideal facilities for our dog as the room is downstairs. Accommodation is comfortable and clean and the owner made us feel very welcome. We have used it before and will do so again.
Cons: There is no evening meal option and no restaurant in the village only a fast food take away. Such a shame after a long journey.

7.5 Good
Pros: The room was clean, tidy with a good ensuite. Quiet location with onsite parking charged at 5 euros per night. Good breakfast although you are seated at the one table communally with other guests. The B&B is just off the main road to Bourges with easy access to autoroute and probably cheaper cheaper than staying in Bourges or Vierzon
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Wonderful shower and nice outdoor area for our evening meal. Excellent breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: We loved the building and the room, especially the really nice shower. Very modern and contemporary. Well worth the stay and good value, for a couple and two young kids with a dog. There is a massive green area behind the property with children’s play park with a small castle, and river, which is beautiful.
Cons: In this really hot weather, I don’t expect air con in every room, but a fan would have been good. Also the lady running the place, did not allow any food in the room despite the fact that there is a microwave to cook in the room and a family table to sit and eat at??? As for the town. There is bar/bistro called olé around the corner. They only served drinks, no food?? And a takeaway pizza place next to that . Nice pizzas but insist they double up on the base. We had three pizzas with wafer thin bases that literally fell to bits when you pick them up because they were too thin and couldn’t hold the weight of the topping making them soggy.

Pros: The property, the restaurant setting and location for rail station and centre of town
Cons: A pool would have been good

Pros: Didn't have breakfast.
Cons: Would have like to have eaten in the restaurants but didn't like the choice and not having an option of just having one meal without a start and/or dessert.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big triple room. Very nice staff. Beautiful setting.
Cons: Couldn’t get the AC to work in the room and couldn’t raise reception on the phone (12.20 am) to assist. Had to open a couple of windows and endure the traffic noise. A blot on an otherwise lovely stay.

Pros: Location = easy distance to the centre; Breakfast; plenty of parking; architecture of the building and grounds.
