Wonderful. Rooms are in chalets (2/4 per chalet). Tranquil, pretty location, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, nicely furnished. Nice choice of on-site restaurants. Pricey but you go into the booking knowing that. Great open fire in the room and good view of the lake (not all rooms have this and there may be a premuim to secure a view). No cars, except hotel vehicles, on the site - resident parking 800 m down the road - transport between the two is available 24-hours. Knowing we were only there for 2 nights ...
The location is amazing. One of the best views in the Canadian Rockies. The rooms are nice, with good bedding. The rooms have fireplaces with great firewood. The dining options are great, too. Lots of trails for hiking and fireplaces if not. THE winter is great, too. THERE was nothing that I did not like. I can't wait to return.
Location Parking is off-site and a bit inconvenient. We were given a queen double room with very dated, old and run-down furnishings. e.g. there was an two inch gap in the carpet exposing the floor boards. Only the very small bathroom has been renovated in the last 20 years. Food in the lounge was very poor- my wife ordered a quinoa item that should have been served hot but arrived cold. After notifying the waiter it was returned at almost the same lukewarm temperature. Food was very overpriced. We were not told about the water in our room upon arrival. The second day I obtained ice from the only available dispenser (in the clubhouse and was advised to not drink water in the room or use the ice. We were told at the front desk that the water "has been sent out to be tested" and results would be back in 3 days. We were given bottled water for the interim. We observed emergency septic maintenance at the same time, along with malodorous air at the lunch restaurant. Our last night there we were awakened at midnight to a fire alarm and left the room to the small of heavy smoke. The family downstairs had failed to open the flue in their fireplace. Since smoke rises we had noxious and persistent smoke in our room still an hour after we were allowed back in our room. When my wife called to get a fan to more quickly dispel the smoke she was told by the front desk to "open the windows" despite the fact we had already done that. They refused to provide us any further help in dealing with the smoke which by now had permeated all of our clothing, etc. After leaving the property we had very queazy stomachs for two days, coinciding with the delay in the water report. We were never notified about the results of the water testing.
We liked the setting in the mountains with snow. The facilities were wonderfull and decorated tastefully. Dinner at the Mount Burgess restuarant was exceptionally delicious and very well presented. The staff is very friendly and help full. We consider making it a tradition to stay at Emerald Lake lodge over Christmas. The heating system (hot water pipes) in our cabin was a little noisy. Sound like someone was nocking on the door.
The setting is beautiful and close to nature. The room had a nice porch and view.
The facilities totally outdated a dozen customers had no electricity no water and no heat I had no heat temperature Room was 55 degrees C all the time. I talk to the staff a number of the times, they could not remedy the situation. I was there from Wednesday through Saturday. It was my daughter's wedding. I do not believe how they were rated number 10 hot spot for weddings.
Location on Emerald Lake At check in the desk clerk identified me as the "Kayak Room" Our "lodge room" was actually in a small poorly maintained cabin where 3 other couples were staying as well in other rooms. There are no guest rooms in the Lodge. The beautiful view they described from our porch was of another cabins roof. The room we stayed in was described as "rustic". I would describe it as poorly maintained and greatly in need of updating. Everything was old and worn out. The room had no TV, no radio,no A/C, and a shower that did not work very well. The only wifi is in the lodge and the TV in the lodge did not work properly either. The owners know they have the only show in town and charge outrageous prices for everything. I ordered a hamburger for lunch which was $23.00. It was just OK. The staff seemed well trained and provided good service. The facility was pathetic and in desperate need of major renovation.
The restaurant was fabulous and the setting on the Kicking Horse River was exquisite. It was advertised as a luxury hotel, however, while very nice, it did not meet our expectations as a luxury hotel.
The lodge is beautiful with large well appointed rooms and sits on the edge of a river and the foot of a mountain. The food was first rate.
Very confortable chalet, well appointed and nicely furnished and decorated, although with no view, due to the situation, deep inbetween moutains (yes, from your little terrace , if you raise up your head and twist you neck, you'll see the top of the glacier and other surrounding summits). Had diner on our first evening, excellent food and nice waiter. The best sorbet ever (peach, blueberry and grapes). 1.La situation très encaissée entre les montagnes et bruit de fond permanent de la route qui passe juste à côté.No view and permanent noise from the close highway. Unless your are completely deaf, you can't call that "peaceful" nor "quiet". 2.No one seems to be really in charge of the place and the obviously restricted personal in the dining room is deficient. Ex: brkfst is fully self service (including dishes and cutlery and coffee). But: one morning, there were no knives and no large plates left. The second morning, no eggs left. Then you had to wait a while for a new can of coffee to come which, by the way, was the weakest and worst we had in 14 days in West Canada. Not a smile, not a "sorry", no presence.
Very pleased with this hotel. The lodge was very comfortable and had all we needed for a superb stay. Log cabin lodge with luxury interior. The gift of a book on the Rockies was unexpected and the daily weather forecast card placed on the bed was most useful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Not cheap but excellent experience. Food in our opinion is not gourmet but it is very good. Maybe we are being a bit picky.
It was remote, but accessable, quiet! very enjoyable. Your website would make you believe the lodge was located in Lake Louise, but in fact their post box is in Lake Louise. The lodge is in BC!
