The hotel was in the heart of the town- close to everything n/a
Good location, staff very friendly & helpful.
It was convenient for our needs at that time. The hosts are extremely pleasant and very accomodating to our needs and comforts. We were even served refreshments for free after checking out, as we had to wait for a wedding at the local church later that day. The availability of car parking certainly influenced my choice initially, but the welcome received from the hosts were outstanding. The portions of breakfasts are far too large. I mentioned this to the hosts and they did say that it was difficult to get the balance right as others would complain otherwise. One ought to be reasonable cos you wouldn't have such portions at home! It is such a waste at the present economic and ecological time. I appreciate the dilema the hosts have, but they could always offer seconds.
The room was very comfortable, the hosts were first class and the breakfast was excellent. Well done!
The owners were great, the rooms were spotless and the bed was really comfy!
Excellent room and location
Friendly welcome; clean, comfortable room; excellent breakfasts. Character property in the centre of a delightful town. No

Room and food excellent None
Fantastic rooms and service. Lovely extras in room like homemade mince pies and Christmas pudding. Good bar and really good food in restaurant.
Best ever breakfast, beautifully cooked. Good restaurant for dinner and great ambience The shower tap was jammed so couldn't be operated. despite management's efforts. Did finally get it going but not satisfactory
brilliantly friendly staff without being unctious. There was a very helpful card in the room with directions to the main points of interest and best views of the countryside. A very small point. The shower cubicle in room two did n't have anywhere to park the soap.
Everything was ready on arrival, lovely new room, staff extremely accommodating and good food.
Really good food, lovely staff and excellent facilities. Superb value for money No
Attractive refurbishment and sensitive combination of traditional and contemporary.
The welcome, helpfulness and efficiency of the staff. The food was excellent, in fact it was all as advertised. The no parking on site could be a problem
Lovely historical Inn with great rooms, location, service, Lovely food in the restaurant and fine ales in the bar, loved it.
Modern and comfortable room. Car parking arrangements could be improved. More information on arrival, better still for the hotel to have some reserved parking.
Thought the accomodation ,which was in a pretty picturesque village ,was lovely and comfortable, very quiet during the night and had nice complimentary toiletries from the Bath House. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had evening meals and breakfast in the restaurant and enjoyed everything we had. Hotel allowed our dog to stay. No car parking with the hotel, although we did manage to park on the street just round the corner from the hotel.
This was our second visit to the Sun Inn when travelling South from Scotland. It is ideal when seeking a really comfortable stopping place away from the M6. As before, we enjoyed a warm welcome, a comfortable room, excellent food in the small but charming restaurant and friendly and efficient service. We'll be back. The only real snag is the lack of any parking at or close to the premises but there is a public car park a few minutes walk away.
Friendly staff no
Central location very friendly staff would visit again
Adrian - The only person who really communicated with visitors Lovely open Coal/Wood burning Fires Safety - Anybody can walk in and pick up keys on entry Towels - We have raggedy dusters that are better Hairdryer - Non-existent Bathroom - Water dangerously hot and no thermostat control - Bath was scarily slippy and chose not to use it after first attempt Beds - Not made properly after the first night - Sheets left loose & top covers just dragged up.
Room was very nice and the general feel of the hotel was warm, cosy and quiet The bathroom was not of a great hygiene standard, the shower curtain had evident mildew on it and the floor was not clean with debris on it on arrival and still there on departure despite house keeping staff having been in on the first morning and having tidied the bathroom
Location, facilities quietness,cleanliness-good attentive staff, first class breakfast. Shower should be changed for thermostatic type
The location was ideally located for exploring the Dales and Lake District> The room was spacious and comfortable and the spa facilities were very good. No menu in the room and not enough information regarding facilities provided by the hotel.
We thought the leisure facilities were excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly
Comfortable and relaxed atmoshphere. Friendliness of staff. We had stayed there earlier in the year.
Quality food available all day. Use of health club. Decent rooms with nice bathrooms. Good breakfasts. Excellent and friendly staff. Nice location No Sky tv in bar. No alarm clocks in room.
Food and Staff were Excellent. Quite Isolated but was snowing in summer would be loverly
We stayed only one night at November end as our Air Balloon Flight was scheduled to take of from Whoop Hall early next day. Whoop Hall Hotel is in a scenic spot yet has easy access to main roads. Staff (esp. Nicola) were efficient, courteous and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable, cosy and warm (as we were there during the cold snap, so a big relief!)..and the shower was surprisingly powerful for a deceptively small shower head. Dinner at the restaurant was good quality, delicious, and reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet did not disappoint! We did not try the leisure facilities. We would certainly recommend Whoop Hall to family and friends, and will return for a longer stay in the summer and explore the surrounding countryside Hairdryers should be kept as standard in all rooms, rather than on request only. a few extra coat hangers would certainly come handy for guests on longer stays.
the quiet efficient running of the hotel
Country location, real ale food
the log fires and the food
Lovely old coaching inn, set in a delightful village. Very friendly staff and excellent dinner and breakfast
Although the standard room was small, the bed was very comfortable - nice duvet and plenty of room. No shower in the bathroom, only a shower head attachment in the bath.
Warm staff, very accomodating and willing to go the extra mile. Great. Nothing
nothing was too much trouble - standard of food excelent no
Frendly staff, cosy atmosphere, good location Was being decorated, smelll of paint
Quiet location in countryside, with scenic drives giving access to the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. Restful surroundings. Friendly staff. Good food and comfortable room. Value for money. For me this was not a real problem, but the absence of a lift could be a difficulty for the less-abled. Perhaps this ought to be made clearer in the information provided?
The hotel was unpretentious, quiet, very comfortable and clean, with beautiful views and very nicely furnished. The manager & staff were friendly and the food good.
