The hotel was comfortable, clean and good value for the purpose of our visit.
The staff were very friendly. The food was excellent. Woke up to a cold room. Radiators came on while we were at breakfast after 9.am
We thought that the hotel was comfortable and the dining room had a reasonable menu While the menu was ok my partner, who is vegetarian, felt that the choise was limited and although the chef came up with an alternative choise it wasn't brilliant( under soaked dried mushrooms)
large room, good car park, tasty breakfast silly dress code for the dining room (no jeans!) reflecting golfers stuffy attitudes
Peace and quiet, large comfortable bed, free newspapers, excellent freshly cooked breakfast Limited choice of wine at the bar
The bedrooms were spacious and well provisioned. Our rooms were very quiet and it was nice to have windows that open properly and not to have the continuous noise of air-conditioning. The staff started trying to clean the rooms from 9.30am onwards, which for a Sunday morning seemed a little uncivilised. The settling of the bill was very inefficient.
The food was very good, both the evening meal in the Restaurant and the Breakfast. I would have felt more comfortable in the Restaurant if other guests were more casually dressed (as we only had jeans with us).
The bathroom was very well arranged, clean and tidy. Our room was sold to us as a room with a balcony. There was no mention that it overlooked the car park making the room like a goldfish bowl, very noisy and disappointing for the celebration of our wedding anniversary. The door stuck so it was difficult to get advantage of balcony anyway. Very noisy radiators and annexe we were in was really like a travel lodge. Breakfast was disorganised and took ages before our order was taken. Many of the items had run out on buffet table and were not being filled as so many people were eating breakfast. All in all, disappointing - sorry!
Very comfortable and welcolming hotel, excellently situated for enjoying a great section of the Suffolk coastline
Friendly service - as it is Golf affiliated there is good bar food available all the time. We had a cream tea on arrival. Restaurant was really good.
Resturant good Shabby & noisey
The only thing was the age of the hotel Beds had springs showing through mattress had to have extra pillows to sleep on to avoid them digging in me.Carpet was so badly stained all over !!!!! the breakfast slap dab!! Food terrible ! Broken towel rail no glasses in bathroom all fittings were broken. Spoilt a weekend after a wonderful Wedding at the Abbey.
Comfortable bed Nobody on reception when arrived had to go and find someone.Waited 15 minutes. Booked breakfast for 8.15am.Chef had been sent home as thought I said 9.30am so waited 30 minutes for him to arrive. No plug in sink in bathroom.
rooms were warm noise inside and out, no chef, lack of customer service.
Decent room, staff polite and helpful Reservation had not been received at the hotel, possibly due to printer being out of ink, broken table which looked like had been broken in a fight right placed on chair next to reception desk. Wi-fi did not work.
It was warm The absence of staff & the cleanliness of the room
hotel staff were great and very helpful
The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast good. Receptionest was doubling as barmaid. Did better job as barmaid. Forgot key when showing us to room. Room: no bath plug. Bedside light not working. Curtains not attatched to rail. Television aerial socket hanging off wall. Uht milk of dubious quality for coffee.
Beds comfortable and clean When we arrived, no-one was on reception and I had to call the hotel on my mobile to get some attention. A large crack was in the wall. Carpets were stained (Room 4). No hot water and shower not working. Breakfast was miniscule. No coffee served until the end. The kitchen ran out of bacon and started serving ham. No-one was on reception when we checked out.
The room was a good size, clean and warm with a decent size kettle! I was attending a wedding at a nearby town and needed somewhere cheap for the night. This hotel fitted the bill well and did the job of putting a roof over my head. I'd recommend this hotel to those on a budget and happy with the basics. Although the bedding was clean, the single mattress was very uncomfortable, you could feel every spring so sleep wasn't great. There was also a funky smell of drains when the toilet was flushed. The TV was barely watchable as the signal was very poor. I left without having breakfast as I needed to get out on the road so can't comment on the food.
The location of the hotel right on the beach was excellent. The room was very nice. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but the breakfast was first class. The staff were very friendly. No it was all very nice.
The location was beautiful, right on the sea front and they were dog friendly! The dining room breakfast service was very poor, as was the quality of the food.
excellent location--- reasonable ambience-staff friendly--rooms fairly well furnished heating system not efficient, much too hot in rooms----------long wait for cooked breakfast[buffet system would be better]------should be more fresh seafood on the menu [local caught fish on sale oppposite the hotel ! ]
Nice room with seaview. Staff did not know local information about xmas lights going on that evening.
All of the staff were very helpful and polite.
close to beach, convenient parking, breakfast delicious. peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles in bathroom, poor quality shower. need of refurbishment, grossly overpriced for what it is
the bed was big and very comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean, plenty of hot water for each of us to shower, big fluffy towels, nice relaxed atmosphere we came to chill out for a couple of days and certainly was able to do that
I liked the comfortable style of the hotel, the decor was warm and friendly. It was lovely to relax in the bar area, and the real fires added to the atmosphere. The staff were excellent. I actually liked the way the hotel had not been updated to become 'designery' and am very dismayed to learn it will be refurbished in the New Year.
The food was good value for money, staff very friendly Bedroom not very warm , possible due to very cold weather
Set in a quiet location with good parking facilities and the beach is a mere 30 feet away from the door, this hotel offers all you require for a pleasant relaxing break. Good customer service, excellent food and comfortable lounges makes the hotel a must to visit and stay. There is no lift and the hotel would benefit by putting in a lift for the mature less able guests.
We enjoyed a high level of comfort and service. Our needs were attended to promptly and efficiently
Clean, good food,good service None
Traditional comfort, with large lounges right on the sea front. Rooms have been updated with very pleasing furnishings and super bathrooms, especially the showers. Afternoon tea could be a little more imaginative (an important part of entertaining an elderly relative).
I particularly liked the lounge area which was spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent. The bed wasn't very comfortable
The beds seemed very small for doubles and were too soft for my personal preference.
The whole experience was lovely.
A very comfortable relaxed altmosphere, very nice food and wine, very comfortable bed
Sorry, Nothing a lot of the staff were foreign so disinclined to talk and knew nothing of the area No ambience, No bon homie, poor parking (first come, first served) breakfast O.K. but needed to ask for refill's of coffee and butter. Dinner too "stuffy" and started too late for us. Most of the other guest's where very stuck up and place felt like a resident care home. While room's had been modernised and had good plumbing and furnishings our room was above the kitchens with all the noises and banging you would expect, couldn't get any sleep until clearing up done for the night, then it started again at 7am in the morning. There was so much ivy around our windows it made it too dark, and wasp nest in ivy meant window could not be opened. Bar area was negligible and you had to ring for service!.
lovely room and location. sometimes had to finde staff to help you. when they were located they were good. It was also mainly used by senior citizens.
Meals were excellent and staff very helpful and attentive. Location on a bend on a main road was difficult to find and we almost drove past it. A sign in Yoxford's main street directing visitors to the hotel would be useful.
The food was excellent No books or magazines to read in the lounge
I found the hotel to be comfortable, clean and in a convenient position for touring the east coast We had a disapointing main course with our evening meal which is a shame considering the hotels reputation for good food.
Very friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room with many different lotions shampoos etc in bathroom. Easy quick check-in and check-out. Excellent breakfast featuring local products My room was very near the A12 and the traffic was very obvious from 7am onwards. However it was not at all busy overnight
The food was excellent, nice atmosphere in the bar/restaurant. All the staff were very polite and friendly. The room was great, lovely 4-poster bed. Generally the place was great. You do get a fair bit of noise from the main a12 (especially if you have a room at the front like we did) It was also very stormy the night we stayed which probably made things worse. I'd probably ask for a room at the back if I was to stay there again.
some black mould round bath
Welcoming staff; comfortable accomodation with lots of little extras; lovely evening meal and breakfast. A very pleasant stopover. Lack of a shower
Excellent room very clean, food very tasty. Staff pleasant and helpfull. Thoughttful little extras fresh coffee in the rooms being one of them.
The service of the staff was excellent Nothing
Very nice location, and excellent gardens, full of wildlife. rabbits, squirrels, and even a deer visited.
