The staff is friendly, the location in the city of Motril is really very good, but don't think it correspond to modern level of seaside and beach holidays Very old fit out of the rooms, lobby etc. The breakfast is poor, the jus from concentrate, the coffe from automatic machine, the beach is not far, but it is municipal beach with 10 umbrellas for all the people
Tea or coffee was not available in the room. Not being able to speak Spanish we found it quite difficult to comminicate except with the staff at reception who were good.
A well kept hotell from the 80s. Even the music in lobby and restaurant areas intact since the grand opening it seems like. Look elsewhere if you are looking for gourmet food
Location was great on the beach. Secure parking was free. Staff were helpful. Balcony furniture was a little tired.
good value for money the lesure facilities let the hotel down. The pool was supposed to be heated and was cold as was the jacuzzi (one of the main reasons for picking the hotel)
Clean, simple hotel in nice location. Wi-fi was a convenient bonus. Poor sound insulation within hotel. Woken during night by sound of furniture being moved in other parts of hotel. Shower and other plumbing noises loud and clear.
had a very relaxing stay staff very helpful we would have liked a la carte menu
Location to the beach If you are a back ache sufferer do not stay at this hotel. The bed is the hardest bed I have ever slept in. Might as well have slept on the floor!!!!!!
The location, it is very good in a quiet area close to the beach and also close enough to Motril. Nothing we didn't like.
Very friendly staff
Dinner-drinks not being included in half-board.
Super clean Gym equipment is old and not working
relaxing surroundings, quiet, clean, good breakfast, evening meal, good starter and sweet. Although the food in general was ok, the main evening meal, was poor, either undercooked or overcooked, cheap cuts of meat added to the poor quality. Not 4 star hotel quality
Excellent facilities Coffee was cold at breakfast
Ok family room at the apartment part of the hotel For a four star hotel, there was some cheep solutions regarding equipment at the room, and it was only equipped for 4 persons while it was 6 beds... Some loose tiles at the floor, and some of the equipments at the bathroom needed repairs.
The hot food was cold both at dinner and at breakfast. The quality and quantity was excellent.
We had a car and travelled to the National Park beaches and in-land to beautiful villages. The beaches in La Herradura are lovely and at the time we went, not crowded. There is a little harbour to walk around but everywhere is very quiet out of season. It was mostly used by Spanish and got very busy at the weekend. The numbers increased from about 100 to 600 and I believe to 1000 in the high season!During the week it was fine for us considering the good deal we had.
Good room Too much people, too much strees with breakfast and dinner
Rooms and balconies were big and and staff polite. Great view from the balcony. I was disappointed because nobody informed us that the outdoor swimming pools are going to be closed until spring. I would not have chosen that hotel if I had known that. Food in the hotel restaurant was terribly tasteless and bland. The rooms were fairly clean, but the toilet had a smell of urine and there were some hair on the floor. Maids came to clean everyday but the hair did not disappear. One of the pillows had a disgusting smell, but we did not have to use it, as we had 2 bedrooms and needed only one.The kitchen was advetised as fully equipped. In fact we had 2 pots and one cover + one small and scratched frying pan. There was no spatula, no colander, no bowl, no sharp knive, so the kitchen was almost useless.
the beds were huge and the hotel facilities clean and good improve food choice at lunch and dinner
The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located on Velilla Beach which is away from the busier beaches nearer the town centre. However, the shops and cafes of the town are only a short walk away along the seafront promenade.. I could not fault the hotel. We took the half board option and had good food and a large bedroom with a seaview on the cooler side of the hotel. There were plenty of other guests at the hotel who also seemd to be enjoying their stay.
lounge, dining room and bar facilities excellent.comfortable room and calm peaceful atmosphere (november) very helpful staff
I enjoyed the spacious room
Good location close to the sea. Beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. Restaurant only served buffet meals. Charge for using car park. More like a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star.
This is the second time my wife and I stayed at this hotel. It is very good value for money if you book well in advance. The rooms are really very nice. There are some nice cafes to on the beach front to the left of the hotel, and a very nice small, like private beach, just up the hill to the right of the hotel.I would advise on a car rental if you decide to stay here as ther is not a lot going on. Just really very far out from shops and so on. If you have rented a car for your holiday, this hotel is really good value for money. From here you are only 20 minutes from Motril, a nice small Spanish city. A trip to Granada to see the Alambra is a must! Also go and see the Nerja Caves, and Balcones De Europe in Nerja town, a half hour drive from this hotel.
A nice room We had asked for a nonsmoker room, but were placed in a smoker's room. We mooved to another room, also a smoker's room. After two days we got a nonsmoker room.
the reception staff were friendly/helpful. Location was good adjacent to the beach, also the area is not full of tourists - i.e. there were mistly Spanish families on holiday there The breakfast was not what you would expect from a four star hotel -hard croissants each day! Same limited fruit selection every day and also limited cereals. Coffee (machine) was cool also. Overall could be much improved with little effort.
Very nice hotel, situated very close to beach, nice pool, good value, very good rooms. Definitely will recommend. Best place we stayed in spain
I liked that this hotel is more isolated than others.
Good service, comfort,good food,friendly,nice location.
Hotel Helios - Costa Tropical has some amazing views of the ocean from many rooms and especially from the sun-tanning deck at the top of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is good, albeit simple - lots of fresh fruit and some nice hot dishes. The location is perfect - across from the beach and close to many restaurants. Hotel Helios started charging for WiFi on October 1st 2010 and it's a big pain... 1 hour login is 1 Euro - but if you want to check email or Skype periodically throughout the day, you need to keep buying new logins - I only found out about the full day option on my last day (5 Euros). WiFi doesn't reach all rooms - so plan accordingly. Also, it was hard to get an iron - this isn't a business hotel, but can't be beat for vacations.
Rooms are spacious. Balcony small. Beds large and comfortable. Location excellent - beech-front with convenient, local sea-food & chinese restaurants. Pool small but adequate. Spanish and no English spoken. Bar prices too expensive compared to average for locality.
Convenient for the beach and town plus secure parking
Location was near the beach and town centre. Was not informed about building work being carried out in hotel. The noise was unbearable, some guests had to move rooms. Not enough wardrobe cupboard space in room. Breakfast had poor choice and poorly cooked. Told by Manager not to use bath towels around pool but there was no notice to say that you couldn't and that pool towels could in fact be obtained from reception. Had to pay to use safe.
a functional and clean hotel - not one to spend lots of time in but did the job - air con was a godsend! very hard to find free parking nearby - staff did not know where best to find it - and directed us to the 19 euros a day underground car park 10mins walk away. if you stay here, park for free further west up the hill inland
Swimming pool, view, breakfast Lift, lack of parking availibility
The room and its position The smell of food[ fish] outside the restaurant area
Ocean view There should be dryers in the rooms
Close to beach, decent room, rooftop bar w spectacular views Not so much "didn't like" but it was an odd mix... There were lots of older tourists and some families many of whom seemed to enjoy the ok buffet in the basement restaurant which gave the place the feel of a retirement home in Florida and then there's this very nice club on the roof that was more or less empty.
Pleasant staff. Good service. Excellent location and views Parking is a nuisance as key has to be collected. Roadworks outside - not their fault!
The hotel is totally Spanish - there were no other foreign guests. Likewise the town of Almunecar was totally Spanish. The desk staff spoke English and were helpful, the bar staff were helpful and concocted iced coffees for us - it was VERY hot. In the evening a small band played in the air conditioned bar area - people were doing ballroom type dancing, with style, which was fun. The genuine experience. The usual problem - could do with some more clothes storage and hooks on the backs of doors to hang clothes up.
Lovely, quiet and relaxing.
Elevator ride to wonderful beach. View from lush grounds incomparable.
Fabulous location. Great buffet breakfast. Dinner in restaurant poor quality and expensive. Building work started during stay made bedroom unuseable between 9am and 6pm.
Location in Nerja was superb. Food ( half-board option) became boring after a few days, and the best option was to go for the buffet It's probably a few years past its best: our bathroom had a broken floor tile, and every time I stood on it (it was in front of the washbasin!), it "stuck" to my foot and came loose
The wonderful environnement and the relaxed atmosphere Nothing
The location is superb. The staff could do with some basic training from the Parador Malaga Gibralfaro staff, which we visited subsequently. The Half-Board Menu is too predictable; if asked, I could probably recite it to you.
great location.lift directly down to beach we also loved the garden area totally relaxing never any problem getting a sunbed. bedrooms could be redecorated
A peaceful setting with stunning views
The views. Lift to the beach Most reception staff indifferent, unfriendly, with exception of one girl on reception who was pleasant. Cleaning staff all friendly, they always greeted you throughout the hotel
1] garden with views over sea 2] lift to beach 3] all rooms have balconies 4] excellent buffet breakfast 5] excellent dinner menu, good wine list and service. drains smelly in some rooms
Very close to beach, so easily go there. Room is clean and bathroom is spacious. Good hotel with given budget.
Everything. Lovely modern spacious hotel with a touch of luxury (all that marble). Pool is lovely and being so close to the beach is great. Shame about the jelly fish. Appartment was great, enough room, light and modern. You could improve the hotel by putting up a few signs, e.g. when coming out of the lift, indicate where the exit is. Signposting in Spain is generally poor.
Room cleaned and beds made up daily No central foyer/ bar if you wanted to find a bit of life on evenings where entertainment wasn't provided
the location, room, pool and grounds are gorgeous, beach is super, The food wasn't great for breakfast, the only meals I ate there. The cleaning personnel didn't automatically replace things like the kleenex when they ran out, the washcloth when it was put with dirty laundry (took the old one, but didn't leave a new one till I asked), and little plastic bags for disposing of female products. This surprised me, esp. since it's a four star hotel. The shampoo packets were hard to open. Otherwise, lovely.
The pool was great, the breakfast, friendly staff were great, weather good. Little distance out from town. Did not like that when we arrived late with a baby and lots of luggage that i had to bring all the luggage to the room on my own. A porter would have ben very welcome after a long journey and tired people..
The comfort and spaciousness of the room -and the view from the balcony. We thought the breakfast buffet was very good but the evening buffet could have been much better. Possibly with the option of an a la cart menu option.
the layout near the beach, the sun beds and the grass area and the pool. the evening entertainment was terrible. it really let the place down as we would not stay for dinner or a drink with the entertainment. Also get rid of the Bingo.
The cleanliness, beach location and pool bar facilities. Parking was easy. The buffets were monotonous, the staff were a bit end of season in attitude and the bar closed too early (12pm)
Lovely location right next to the sea.
Pools good,Bar good, entertainment good but for Older generation Food average, service poor. Indoor Pool not what we imagined, small and costly.Location not ideal.
The location of the hotel is fabulous and the design, around the pool and facing the sea, is amazing. There is a really relaxed atmosphere. Taxis in an out of the centre of Nerja are very reasonable and the walk along the seafront is lovely.
Stairs from car park
We had a very enjoyable break in your beautiful hotel. only wee complaint-- would have liked a big comfortable bed instead of 2 singles together.Staff very very friendly. great breakfast. loads of relaxing areas.
View from balcony was wonderful, staff was very helpful, everything was very clean. All was good.
Relaxing atmosphere, convenient beach location & peaceful area.
Breakfast by the open windows and overlooking the beach and sea. Very helpful staff when it came to parking my car. Nothing
Centrally located to everything....great staff...super-helpful service
celebrated our wedding anniversary
The location is superb right in the centre on the Balcon but also beachside. Hotel functions well and good choice at breakfast. Rooms are clean. Comfortable lounge areas. We found staff very helpful. View from room with balcony overlooking the beach was great. The location bumps it up to 4 star. Rooms are clean but tired. The swimming pool is very small but is compensated by beach access. No charge or problem getting sunbeds on beach in October but understand that this may be different in summer. We found it good value for money but price was reduced! Had a look at a room without a balcony and glad we didn't choose one.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff very accommodating and helpful. The evening meal did not really respond to my dietary requirements as a vegetarian.
It is a great location with an amazing view. Very relaxing with a pool and private beach. The front desk clerks were not helpful at all. The signs for the car park were poorly marked so we ended up spending more than nessisary.
Location is wonderful. We had the worst location for a room - shouldn't even be offered. Right above an alley-way outside a pub - late night noise + 5:30 am deliveries. Also two twin beds shoved together doesn't make a double bed.
The hotel was very lovely. The Spa and indoor swimming pool was good. The food was totally not good. I complained to the manager and his answer was to moved to another hotel. We wasn't allowed to enter the dinning room with paying first. We wanted to have a look at a menu and no menu's was available.
I liked the idea that you cannot reserve the sunbeds.
Good Facilities and location First night we were placed in a room directly below the air co unit for entire building but were moved immediately the next morning on request
Hotel parking was expensive as no street parking was available close by. Dogs are also allowed in rooms, no thought for next guest. Only two lifts for eight floors.
Good location, nice pool, spacious rooms. Good price. Corridors need a good clean.Mediocre food at buffet. I do not think it rates 4 stars. Standards have declined since I stayed 3 years ago when it was part of Sol Melia chain.
Location is good - right on beach and very central - right at front so great views over beach Surley staff - totally disorganised at breakfast - like staying at Butlins - not for anyone looking for a relaxing time - only for families with lots of children
Good location, friendly staff, everything was pretty much as we expected to find it. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Almunecar.Lots of Spanish guests which always says something about a Spanish hotel... The parking costs should be clear from the start - it wasn't expensive but did add a further cost and I think the site simply says parking at cost. Also the fact that they insisted on half board - no option, which was the one thing that nearly made me book elsewhere. There were a couple of nights where we didn't use the hotel simply to have dinner out, but we had to pay for it. Bit restrictive for people who don't have young families and don't want hotel food all week.
Excellent facilities. The food was very well prepared and presented with lots of choice evry evening. There was no need to go out to eat. The foyer was clean and bright and a real feature. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, even though some of them were on strike during our stay! Having an indoor pool, gym and games room was a real plus as the weather was dreadful and we couldn't go out. Even so we had a wonderful stay which says a lot for the hotel. Certainly the best place to stay in Almuñecar. Only very minor issues, nothing that would put me off. Leak in the roof, we had torrential rain, tiles missing on the indoor pool floor. No staff on duty when the pool was in use. Could be noisy when parties came in late at night.
Location to our friends and family who live there, and the price, and the staff all excelent. Some parts were a bit on the cold side, due to the time of year.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitly consider staying again, Every one of the staff were very friendly & helpful
Convenient for our short stay. The selection of food at breakfast could be a little more varied.
Good location for town centre bar prices cheaper than bars in the town very good internet system None
This hotel is excellent value for money. I have stayed in 4 star hotels that are not as clean as this, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again!
Nice clean hotel, ideal for the more active holiday maker, Location a little far out for the not so able person, choice of bar snacks not very good,
great value for money. The helpfulness of the staff was applaudable. we were stuck in Spain after our planned departure date due to the Volcano. the staff did everything that they could to helpus. we are very grateful to them. We had 5 rooms between our family none
We stayed at this hotel for a few nights and overall it was good. The room was small and simple and lacked some of the amenities of the more upscale places but the location was good as was the price. A/C only functions if your in the room which means you always come back to a hot stuffy room.
Great price. Good location - set back approx 150metres from the promenade. The rooms/balconies faced the the castle San Miguel, the old town and the main town. Between the hotel and everything eIse is a 'custard apple plantation' helps to separate it and makes it a quiet location. Decent 'spanish' style breakfast, evening meals and games room No
Staff friendly and helpful also english speaking which was helpful
A nice pleasant place with helpful and friendly staff. Additional car parking charge of €9 per night
It's staff were exceptionally good and very helpful. Gave us advice on nightlife, places to see etc..
a fine hotel fully deserving of its 4* rating. would recommend it to friends
Location I have stayed there previousl and had trouble with the plumbing. This time I had to change rooms as the bath water came back through the floor due to a blockage and created a distasteful sewage smell. No apology or discount was forthcoming.
Location. Facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.Swimming pool.Relaxed atmosphere. No English TV.
the flute being played in the room next door, the rooftop pool the food was very mediocre. i had dinner once and it was poor - awful, certainly not worth twenty euros. the only good thing about the breakfast was the fresh fruit. the bacon and the fried eggs were a joke as was the toasted sandwich. i stuck to the fruit. the juice was artificial, the beverage machine appalling. I expect far better than this in a four star hotel. i regret eating dinner there and resent the twenty euros spent on it.
The location There was an awful smell coming from the bathroom drains, which affected the whole room which at times was almost unbearable and not in keeping with the 4 stars. In addition there were very few staff available to serve drinks and there was no room service available. Breakfast was poor.
We were staying in the town of Almunecar to attend our friends wedding. We had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed our stay at Bahia Almunecar. We particularly liked the cleanliness of the hotel and the helpful staff, the hotel is in a very good location close to shops, beach and nightlife. It is also very reasonably priced, as is everything in Spain!
staff and service received very good.Cleanliness of room and good choice at breakfast.
Excellent value for money, nice helpful staff. Could not complain about anything. No complaints.
staff Friendlyness & variation & quality of food nothing comes to mind
Very Good Value for Money Breakfast not great, Buffet but for the money one can not complain
Good position, very helpful receiption staff, excellent happy hour and friendly bar staff. perfect bar to meet friends. would recommend this hotel. parking could be difficult quite busy streets, but we usually found a space.Would like a hair dryer to save on luggage space. Also would like Spain in general to have tea and coffee making facilities in rooms.
Very nice hotel, close to beach and city center approx 10 min. Very tasty breakfasts and dinner. In front of the hotel is small shop. Value for money. I suggest to chose this hotel for beach holidays.
The location was good, close to everything but out of the noise. The matress, and the rotting bathroom window.
The location of the hotel. The room was at the ground level facing the pool, noisy, with a bit of a smell (due to humidity) and without A/C. I think a room not at the ground will be much better.
the pool Thomson Holiday destination! Working men's club singers not in sympatico with a Spanish resort
relaxed friendly atmosphere needs a good renovation
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, excellent value evening meal.
The location was ideal, right on the beach. The late breakfast suited us (11am) and the staff were friendly. We had requested a Sea View room. But, to see the sea we had to lean out of the balcony and look around the corner.
No free hotspot. Hotel has own public use computer and overcharges by x3 for time of use.
Pool area was dirty and needs updating
The place of the Hotel was so nice. Staff Barely speak english. the rooms with view are having just side view from the terrace. you have to explicitly declare during reservation for the need of king size bed as most of the rooms are with small beds.
We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. The courtesy and service of the staff was 1st. class. Breakfast was excellent as was the choice of the buffet dinner. It was a nice experience to be surrounded by Spanish families on holoiday and not a word of english to be heard in La Herradura.
The room quality, generous beds, good facilities and an excellent breakfast. Dinner was buffet style and a poor standard for a 4* Hotel
Staff very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Easy access to the beach opposite. The Atrium design. Roof top swimming pool. Easy access to Tourist Info centre next door. Would have liked small pillows in the room, ather than the long ones.Desserts on evening menu were a bit repetitive.
quietness ,so relaxing resadents bar closed very early , no time to relax after a walk or a meal to enjoy a drink
staff and services
Romantic beachfront hotel, many of the rooms were twin and had to request a double however, all in
Easy access to the beaches and the town Mildly disappointed with the breakfast mainly the quality of the jam and the fruit juice but it was perfectly adequate.
Though it was a brief time that we spent there we were made very welcome and will definitely be going back for a longer stay.
sea view was great - secure parking was extremely convenient - very nice location
Hotel is situated perfectly for me i.e. very near to the centre but far enough to be in the calm neigbourhood (you can sleep and rest easily). Quite nice rooms but only in the building situated far from the sea (it is still not more than 50 metres). One guy at the reception desk was very helpful (he really did his best to change our room and thanks to this we are glad of our stay in the hotel in general). The building near the beach urgently needs renovation. Very bad breakfasts and it is not about the choice you have. It is about the quality of the food. They should consider changing of the provider of the food they serve with special attention to: juices (unacceptable), coffee (acceptable only with a lot of milk in it), jams (I have never seen anything like that before). And one more thing... they have charged me for the stay not even without my acceptance but also without any information about this fact! Really annoying and completely unacceptable in my opinion.
The hotel is well located to sit in the bar right next to the beach and watch the sunsets. About 15 minutes walk into the centre of Nerja and only a couple of minutes from restaurants and bars. Public areas were very pleasant. We had a 'suite' but there was no room for a bedside cabinet on one side of the bed and to get into the bed you had to climb from the bottom. The bed was not very comfortable. The plastic furniture on the balcony was broken and the cleanliness of the room was not great. Breakfasts were poor. Dancing was promised but never happened.
It was easy to get around Nerja from this hotel but slightly out of the centre so very quiet.
The hotel was lovely, clean, friendly staff, in a good location on the beach and close to Balcon de Europa. The food was very bland and not much choice, only had a meal there once.
Sea View, warm room, friendly staff, close to all amenities, car parking facilities. A bit expensive for this time of year. No in room tea, coffee etc, poor in-house four star facilities.
sea view easy access
compfortable hotel and very good location
Hotel Plaza Cavan is a lovely well located hotel with friendly staff. A desk lamp is required. I recommend both more variety and an earlier option for breakfast.
Cool and clean. Excellent location
The location and facilities. Rooms facing the Plaza Cavan were noisey at night
Extremely central location, good rooftop pool area, staff were helpful and pleasant
Staff friendliness and helpfulness.Noticed date of birth on passport and delivered bottle of Cava to the room. Indoor pool closed for work.Felt it could have been done at another time as the weather was bad and use of the pool would have been ideal.
very friendly staff. good resaurant in hotel. Very pleasant swimming pools.. Laundry was adequate although the ironing could be better. Room cleaning could be more thorough-some days glasses were not washed-other days surfaces were not dusted as examples.
the central location and shop next door to it the breakfast was very basic
the staff was the best part of the hotel the cleanliness of the hotel was very poor and items that were supposed to be available were not i had been to this hotel before but it has got very poor
Isolation from the crowd.
Great position with lovely views and great balcony with pool. Could be a great place with a bit of TLC but very tired and never been finished. had to pay for very poor tennis court.
position, room size, free wifi, swimming pool area un po' "scrostato" richiederebbe una rinfrescata.
Thought it was very relaxing and great place to chill out needs at bit of refurbishing
gorgeous views from our balcony, the restaurant and from the pool terrace air conditionining did not work the night we were there! There is only a buffet restaurant and the snack bar only serves basic sandwiches and snacks.
The view. Run down. Elderly clientelle (SAGA).
We only used it as a stopover, but would love to stay longer another time it was excellent, we are going into France for a visit soon, and will use Best Western on the way if there are any!
Very scenic views looking down over Salobrena Town & Coast Line. Hotel Staff were not very friendly. Food was very poor. No entertainment provided by hotel. No shops/restaurants/bars within walking distance.
