10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is our happy place after two visits two years apart. It is exactly as we remembered it the first time- Fabrice and Francois are even more charming and the property is still tranquil and magical! They made dinner reservations for us at a restaurant in the nearby town which turned out to be our most delicious meal while on our holiday to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. It was a perfect day and night spent there adding to our memories of this enchanting place.
Cons: We only stayed for one night which is not nearly enough time at this gorgeous place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is perfection: dream-like and other-worldly, comme ‘Le Grand Meaulnes’, it’s hard to imagine accommodation in a more beautiful setting - we couldn’t read our books for just looking. Beautifully decorated rooms in an old flour-mill set in the middle of a millpond, with exquisitely beautiful vistas across the water. Shaded hammocks and sun loungers to while away the hours, the tranquillity is incredible and enchanting. And there are no mosquitos here! Not one! (the numerous giant bright blue dragonflies eat them all). There are ducks, pigeons, a heron, some turkeys, and hens and bantams provide fresh eggs for Fabrice’s incredible breakfasts. Fabrice’s hospitality knows no bounds, nothing was too much bother, he is a charming and entertaining host who gauges to perfection the needs of his guests. When we stayed, it was his night off cooking, so he pointed us in the direction of the restaurant in nearby Saché, which offered a delicious à la carte or set menu. Sache and environs are not only very pretty but also offer a wealth of cultural things to see and do, should it prove possible for you to drag yourselves away from the absolute peace of this beautiful and unique accommodation.
Cons: We had to leave!! Everything was so perfect.

9.7 Excellent (158 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at L'Ange est rêveur places you in the heart of Langeais, a 1-minute drive from Chateau de Langeais and 6 minutes from Maurice Dufresne Museum.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely spectacular location directly opposite the Chateau Langeais. Our bedroom windows were filled with the view of the chateau. The hotel only has five rooms and the owners have made the whole experience very friendly with a great attention to detail. Breakfast each morning in the garden with all home baked breads and cakes very special.
Cons: Nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Extremely lovely place, amazing hosts, private garden to chill and have a glass of vine. Location right next to the castle - very cool view.
Cons: Breakfast is super nice and very instargammable, but would be great to have a bit of cheese and ham apart from fluffy delicious croissants with finger licking home made jams and organic butter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the town, directly opposite the Chateau. The room was tastefully decorated and spacious, the breakfast was more than sufficient and beautifully presented in the garden. Just a lovely place to stay
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

Pros: The hosts were friendly & receptive. Stefan presented a wonderful breakfast of homemade items including bread, jams, yoghurt & delicious cakes in a lovely setting in the garden. The location was superb right next to the Chateau and was surprisingly quiet.
Cons: For us the stairs up to the bedrooms were a issue.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was magnificent with many homemade and fresh items. Lots of choice too. Service was attentive and friendly. Breakfast taken in the beautiful and interesting garden was a real bonus. Cant say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
7.9 Good
Pros: Charming location, B&B, and hosts with tasteful decor and an overall pleasant area. It was great to have a large backyard area with locking gate where we could keep our bikes.
Cons: The top level room was too hot for us to sleep and we had to leave one day earlier than we initially planned. While we didn't expect to have AC, the bedroom had only one window (with one more smaller one in the bathroom) that was insufficient for getting any sort of air exchange with the small desk-top fan provided. Perhaps a couple of bigger stand-up fans might have helped alleviate the issue but after one night of no sleep, we didn't feel like experimenting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location. Room above interior design shop demonstrated the owners' obvious flair for design. Hosts went to great lengths to provide a home made breakfast which was incredible!
Cons: Absolutely nothing to dislike

Pros: Very kind and nice hosts, amazing house, big room and bathroom, excellent and homemade breakfast. We had a wonderful stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at this place for 4 days and loved it. Both Pascale & Jean-Luc were a fantastic host. They gave us great local tips and checked in with us every day to see if we needed anything. Will definitely come back here when we have the opportunity to go to Loire Valley again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! So friendly and the property was amazing.
Cons: Can't fault a thing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hosts. Lovely breakfast, particularly home-made jams.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well this is truly a gem - you can tell as soon as you drive up to the house. Pascale and Jean-Luc are warm welcoming hosts who have created an exceptional guest house. There was only one surprise - how great the Maison d’Hôtes was! We are a couple with high standards who have come to expect some disappointment as we travel. This might just be the first place ever to not disappoint in any way at all. The Maison d’Hôtes also contains their own home and the care that they take with the portion in which they live, is reflected in the rooms that they let out. The house and property has been immaculately updated and their taste is superb - everything so nicely coordinated. Pascale & Jean-Luc open their kitchen to their guests and provide a varied and tasty breakfast at a reasonable price. We found the location, near Villandry, to be a good point from which to tour either east or west along the Loire without excessive travel. There are number of fine restaurants for which they have provided contact information. We ate twice at L’Etape Gourmande - fantastic food and a beautiful setting, especially if the weather cooperates and you can sit outside. No hesitation in recommending the Logis Saponine Maison d’Hôtes - we are hoping to return.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. This is a beautiful home in a lovely, tranquil area. Our bedroom looked out onto the garden and woods.. A wonderful air conditioned resting place after a very hot day on the road. All of this was complemented by fantastic hosts who provided us with cold drinks on arrival along with a scrumptious fruit dessert for the picnic dinner we had brought with us. Outstanding in every way.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was very good for accessing other parts of the Loire Valley but was not in any way touristy. The facilities in the large upstairs studio were very modern and comfortable ands we enjoyed the space as we were stopping for nearly a week. The owners were very friendly and helpful and helped make the stay enjoyable.
Cons: Compared to other establishments of similar quality that we have stayed in we felt the breakfast di not meet those high standards in terms of the variety of food on offer - all the others had a breakfast buffet laid out with a plentiful selection - what wa supplied was perfectly good as was the service from the owners. So it is not a question of ' did not like' more that it could be improved.. Only one comment regarding the facilities - we found the new oven very hard to master!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly, the apartment was clean, modern and stylish and well equipped. Breakfast was fantastic; everything you could possibly dream of and (dangerously) more! Lovely place and lovely people; I would thoroughly recommend.

Pros: Jacques and his team were very welcoming, the grounds were good, parking easy and the room had an excellent bath. The breakfast and evening meal were very good. A great place for a stopover travelling through France and easy to find.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and cosy Well maintained Equipped rooms (hair dryer)
Cons: Sauna difficult to operate, with no manual/explanation
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was a good size, with separate lounge. Nice large bed. Balcony that over looked the grounds. There was a spa (whirlpool)room available but unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to use. Private dinner area which again overlooked the garden. Very enjoyable 4 course dinner (no menu) with wine in the late evening sunshine. Continental breakfast served to us, not a buffet but plenty available....too much for us. No bother for chef to cook some eggs.
Cons: Just a couple of minor issues for us, no built in air con, although a portable unit was in the room which meant you had to have the balcony door open for the vent pipe. It was quite sticky over night. The bed was quite firm for our liking and fortunately we brought our own pillows as the cushions provided would not be comfortable for us. I believe this is usually in French hotels but no tea/coffee making facilities in the room although there was an area off the ground floor with these facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful property with lovely large rooms and pretty terraces. The owners were incredibly helpful. The breakfast was delicious. It is set in large stunning grounds and close to the pretty village of Savonnières.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a little place of complete heaven.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom were large and comfortable. The gardens are beautiful
Cons: Unfortunately there is no longer a restaurant on site and we don’t drink and drive (no local restaurants). However monsieur very kindly recommended a wonderful restaurant and drove us there and back himself. Fabulous

They provided bicycles with helmets and there are many interesting things to do and see. The town of Azay-le -Rideau is easy walking distance with good restaurants and shops. Quiet and perfect for relaxing.
Cons: It was Perfect. Hated leaving.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is rather a unique place to stay in a superb location. Maud, Amandine and Alain are very friendly hosts. The breakfast is great. The historic house and its grounds are lovely. Very relaxing. Really nice area to visit. It was too warm for the heated pool in my view but the facilities were very good. It was very nice to be able to use the kitchen. I liked our large room up in the eaves. Good shower and much needed fan.
Cons: Only very small things. The sink in the bathroom is tiny - very shallow - yet the bathroom is big. For a six-day stay for two people there perhaps needs to be more space for clothes. Rooms are not made up unless requested which is unusual for a place in this price range. However, our hosts were incredibly helpful in so many ways so this is not much really. Actually I really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the sense of privacy and space.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property
Cons: Great for the kids with the games room.
5.8 Okay
Cons: At such a high price I expect more comfort from my room. I could not sleep at night for the eccessive heat, and the simple fan I was provided with was not enough. I expected at least a discount.

7.5 Good
Pros: Very warm welcome and a quite good breakfast (not only for France ...),
Cons: Maybe not the right place for a one-night-stop at late December; I don't know why, but I had the idea in mind, that the rooms belong to a restaurant and when we arrived in the evening after eight, I had the hope to get some type of diner there, but we didn't, so we had to go back to (at this time of the year) "poor" Langeais ...

Cons: I wish I could have stayed longer!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our stay here! Very friendly owners who gave really good tips. Loved the breakfast and the rooms were amazing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Adolf and Linda greeted us so warmly as we arrived after a tiring day. We felt at home immediately. Their manor house is impressive with high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. Linda is a marvelous cook and her large kitchen is a dream. We slept soundly. It was very quiet and calm. The view from their home across the Loire is a picture postcard to be sure. Linda helped us find a restaurant on a Sunday event when few were open nearby. She made the reservation and even recommended some dishes. At breakfast we not only could choose from her homemade jams but also were treated to fresh cooked eggs( by Adolf) from their own chickens. There were croissants, many varied cheeses and breads, fruit from their garden and delicious coffee and juice. Our conversation at breakfast with Linda and Adolf was truly delightful!!
Cons: We had a little trouble with our GPS finding la Manoir since it is in such a rural area but it is actually just up the hill from the Loire near Langeais.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting Great pool Super breakfast Charming hosts Easy location Fresh linen, high quality bedding Beautiful decor
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house with a very nice garden, views and surroundings. Nice big family room for 4. Excellent hosts! They made us feel at home and feel so comfortable. We didn't want to leave!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Basically, it was the best place we stayed in France. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The location is off the beaten road but in the proximity of major Loire Valley castles (we think is mandatory to have a car). Nice yard with a (far) view of the river. Lots of green and quiet surroundings. Over the 4 days we stayed there, we received some "visits" from the deer in the forest nearby. The breakfast was excellent - great diversity of products, including fresh vegetables and fruits, different types of cheese and meat, very good omelettes (with eggs from "happy" chickens), home made jams, juice, coffee, milk, croissants, chocolate bread, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding, it was everything we had imagined and more. Our hosts went well beyond expectations, they are truly a delight. The home and property is quintessential French country, absolutly beautiful, I would spend an intire summer there if I could. Well worth the effort to arrive by bicycle. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: C'est Magnifique' !!! Traditional french style home, each room tells a story and is full of character and charm and has an amazing view of the Loire Valley from the front garden. Has a fantastic outdoor pool with seating area, hospitality is absolutely perfect!! A great location for total relaxation. Has enough parking for about 5/6 cars. The bathrooms are all modern and clean. Linda and Adolf will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They planned a wonderful dinner in the evening with bubbly and wine for my partners birthday. It was like going from home to home. I couldn't thank them enough, one of the nicest people we've ever met. Highly recommend a visit!!!

Pros: What a nice view! What a nice house! Delicious breakfast with local products and interesting conversation with the owners. Highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful place to stay! Our lovely hosts, Linda and Adolf, were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was big, beautiful, furnished with antiques, with a spotless modern bathroom, a very comfortable bed, and a fabulous view across the Loire. The whole house is just beautiful - elegantly and tastefully furnished with antiques. It's situated off the beaten track, up above the river, yet only a ten minute drive away from the historic town of Langeais with some good bars and restaurants for all pockets. An excellent central point for many of the great chateaux, gardens and museums. We breakfasted on home made jams, wonderful artisan breads, meats and cheeses from the local market, around a big kitchen table with Linda and Adolf's lovely family and friends, and after just three days we felt part of the family. Adolf even gave my 'other half' a parting gift of a bottle of cider, as he had been teasing him about the weak lager he had been drinking! We were very sorry to leave, and will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing about the house, everything was perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has been renovated from an old horse changing station, where travelers would have changed horses or spent the night. We like that you can still imagine that past within the hotel; it isn't hidden and it adds charm and character. Everything was clean, the rooms seem to be named after Loire chateaux (we were in the Amboise room, which was beautiful), the staff were absolutely wonderful and very attentive. We had the breakfast buffet, which we thought was very good: ham, choice of cheeses, yogurt, fruit (fresh and dried), croissants and baguette as well as assorted pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, coffee with warmed milk, juice...all plentiful and delicious. We would happily stay here again; it is a good base for exploring the area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Plus it is literally a 5 minute walk to the Azay-le-Rideau chateau, which is not to be missed. We felt welcomed and very comfortable here. Recommended!

Pros: Staying in a cave (Troglodyte) was a terrific experience! The owners were very friendly and we had no problem communicating even though they do not speak English and we don’t speak French.
Cons: Due to the fact you’re in a cave, it is cool and moist. The shower did not drain properly so the floor was wet after showering. There are lights in the ceiling that look like stars. I would have liked to be able to turn them off as it was hard going to sleep with them on.

Pros: Charming owners (friendly welcome and afterwards). Very nice and tasteful interior. Nice pool, set in impressive grounds. Great breakfast.
Cons: Essards is a tiny village at quite some distance (10 minutes to drive) from the next little town. And the nearest place with a reasonable choice of restaurants is Azay-Le Rideau, about 20 minutes to drive. The noise insulation of the rooms is rather weak, mostly due to the open space between the bedroom doors and the floor.

La Grange Bleue - Cheillé - Outdoors view
15
9.5 Excellent (148 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We completely enjoyed our stay at LaGrange Bleue. We had the family suite so we had a room downstairs with a small kitchen and plenty of sitting area and an upstairs bedroom. The rooms are decorated beautifully - just what one imagines for a beautiful country house in France. Our hostess, Elizabeth, was extremely pleasant and we felt very welcomed. She suggested several restaurants just a few miles away and we ate at La Ripaille (right near the Chateau in Azay Le Rideau). The waitress did not speak English but helped us order and we had a delightful - and very plentiful - dinner. Our breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed talking to other travelers. We would certainly highly recommend LaGrange Bleue!

Pros: Nice room in lovely house
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The B&B is five minutes drive from Azay le Rideau, in a historical building with large and beautiful garden. Our room was spacious and decorated with style, with stone walls and huge chimney. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of good things (home-made jams and pies, french brioches, fresh bread, cheese, fruit juice, yogurt etc.) served in a beautiful living room with fine cutlery and pottery. Lots of restaurants in the vicinity. The owner was gentle and helpful with everything we needed and gave us lots of information to visit the surrounding area. Her dog Peggy was a lovely plus for our stay!
Cons: We would have preferred a shower instead of bathtub, but that is our personal taste.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building and beautiful gardens. We stayed in the apartment with the kitchen and lounge so it was extremely comfortable and practical. Breakfasts were a very pleasant start to the day. Lovely home cooking in traditional surroundings.

Pros: The location is perfect, close to the gardens of Villandre, the breakfast was fine and the nearby restaurant that Pascal recommended was superb
Cons: Everything was perfect but we should have liked a few more days at the hotel!
6.3 Good
Pros: The location you can walk to Villandry gardens Very relieved there was a good restaurant within walking distance which hotel recommended however it was very expensive.
Cons: Room badly lit with nowhere much to put anything down, inadequate bedside tables. Bathroom same. Shower over bath could not be used due to slope in ceiling, bad design water all over place when I washed my hair. Hardly any sockets and not over desk. Depressing as only one tiny picture over bed. The hum of generator outside kept me awake so had to sleep with closed window. No glasses , so single use plastic in bathroom. Time they had soap dispensers not plastic minis. Breakfast passable by no means best we had for the money. but very shocked there was no proper restaurant

Pros: This is a gem of a place. Great restaurant! Original food presentations of high quality, presentation, originality and taste. Bravo chef! Delightful comfortable and very stylish bedroom and shower room. It all works. Set in the apple and pear orchards! Absolute peace! Great people! The head waitress even bagged up our uneaten croisssnts etc from breakfest for our journey to Calais!
Cons: I thought the wine list too expansive and too expensive for this level of restaurant. Could ‘t see sny easy half bottles. So we chose to match the surprise gourmand menu with the wine match but didn’t like all the wines. I think it would be better to specify the menu as the alternative was a la carte.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ground floor room with terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stay AND dine (divinely...that Michelin star is well deserved)...what could be better? The accommodations, breakfast and dinner are stellar. The property was so kind to allow rental bikes to be delivered since the bike shop was going to be closed the days we wanted to bike to Villandry and Chateau D'Azay-le-Rideau. The auberge is positioned perfectly for a one-day velo excursion to both chateaus, and the bike trail is well-marked. It's a highly recommended property.
