Pros: Louise and Greg were wonderful hosts! They both went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. They were interested in learning where we were from and what our plans were for visiting the area offering suggestions on where to go and what to see. The rooms were quite comfortable and the little things like chocolates and biscuits left for us in the room made us feel at home. Greg let us know of some good walking trails near the farm and we took full advantage of that to explore the surrounding area. Louise makes a wonderful full English breakfast and the assortment of juices, pastries and cereals compliments it well. We had a good chat about different scone and pastry recipes. Poole Farms is situated on the border of Devon and Cornwall and makes for easy access to day trips and public transportation in nearby Launceston.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like was that our stay was too short!

Pros: Absolutely wonderful - really did exceed our expectations. Best luxury catered accommodation we have ever stayed at (having travelled in the Uk & Europe). Our Hosts, John & Helen were so lovely - they kindly greeted our arrival with a pot of tea in the sunny garden with delicious homemade brownies too. The Barley Bedroom and Bathroom were of high quality and extremely clean, the Breakfast Room and Living Room were so tastefully decorated and homely and we have to say they looked even nicer than the photos. The Breakfasts were abundant, delicious and we were spoilt! We had our Cocker Spaniel with us and Helen catered for her with a Towel under the Hallway Table, Water Bowl in the Garden and she had the bonus of a lovely companion for the 3 days in Jack, the Jack Russell. The location was very peaceful with wonderful views including Cows, Sheep/Lambs and with quiet lanes to walk. The exterior of the Barn was just delightful. Would recommend the Barn to Friends/Family & everybody else!

Pros: The breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit. The room was spotless and the surroundings delightful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Berrio Bridge is even more beautiful than in the pictures. Brimming with a wide variety of flowers and other green growth on the outside. You can hear the babbling brook, even inside the room. The inner decor was full of antiques. We were greeted warmly by Gill, who also helped us get reservations for dinner - though it was late on Sunday evening and most kitchens in the area were already closed. The rooms are big and full of light, excellently appointed with blankets, pillows, hot water bottles and bath robes. The beds were very comfy. The modern amenities were also excellent. And there were plenty of electrical outlets. The sun room for breakfast is spacious, china with roses on the teacups etc. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: A bit isolated, low water pressure .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and gardens. The bedroom with sitting room was lovely. I would highly recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: JILL was very welcoming and accommodating and a very good cook. Breakfasts were excellent and there was an extensive choice. The property was immaculately clean, very quite and cosy and quite quaint in it’s own way. The property’s setting by the river was charming and interesting and in better weather we could imagine enjoying spending a lot of time relaxing in the garden but regretfully Hurricane Lorenzo put a dampener on that!!
Cons: The weather! Must return in the summer!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Helpful and friendly person. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our garden cottage felt like a real home to us for the few days we were there. Comfortable, spacious, tastefully decorated and fully equipped. The part of the main house used for breakfast and interacting with Maureen and her team was very homely and warm with lovely views. Maureen went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She is very careful about getting the right ingredients and the short wait for her lovely kedgeree with undyed smoked haddock was well worth it. The continental breakfast is equally good. There is a wide range of fruits and a deliciously prepared Swiss muesli. The cottage is quite isolated (which was nice) but proved a good location for us to explore bits of Devon and Cornwall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful secluded and peaceful surrounding gardens and swimming pool. Treated like royalty but with friendly manner. Breakfast absolutely amazing served in sunny conservatory.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the details in the rooms and thoughtful additions like a bottle of bubbly and some fudge. We felt very well looked after. The breakfast was EXCELLENT.
Cons: Nothing much - the shower could have been a little better in the art deco room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tor Cottage is the perfect getaway for someone looking to get a break from city life. The property is wonderfully maintained by its owner who lives on the property. She really took care of my wife and I. It reminded me of visiting my grandmother when I was younger. The breakfast is great and we were offered nice cake/scones in the afternoon. The rooms are well kept and high quality fittings. Very quiet and secluded retreat. Loved the two dogs (the owner’s guide dogs).
Cons: The only minor disappointment was that the swimming pool was not yet in use (Easter weekend which happened to be very sunny) as is only available in summer (from May 1st, I believe).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic Breakfast great choice's second visit and it did not disappoint even on an overcast miserable day the pool was warm and great to swim in. It is a great get away from it all location if that is what you want. We will return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived at Tor Cottage on Friday afternoon and we were warmly welcomed by Maureen and her lovely guide dog. It was my 21st birthday earlier that week, and Maureen and Anne had even made me a delicious lemon birthday cake! Anne then showed us around the grounds and Laughing Waters (the secluded cabin where we were staying). The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and was decorated in a Native American theme - the attention to detail was incredible. We relaxed in the hammocks outside before later cooking our dinner on the outdoor BBQ. The only sounds were the birds and the trickling water of the stream. I also went exploring around the grounds and found a beautiful hidden bluebell wood! The next morning we had a lovely breakfast in the conservatory room, firstly lots of fresh fruit and a delicious homemade Swiss muesli, then a cooked breakfast with fresh coffee and orange juice. Maureen suggested lots of things to do in the area and we decided to visit Lydford Gorge to see the waterfall. We arrived back at the cabin around lunchtime and we decided to go for a swim in the pool! It was a glorious sunny day and the pool was lovely and warm. There is even a cabin by the pool where you can make a tea or coffee while you relax. For dinner that night Maureen also suggested some brilliant restaurants in Tavistock and we decided to go to the Ganges and Gurkha for an Indian. The next morning we had another delicious breakfast cooked by Anne before it was time to head home. We had an amazing stay at Tor Cottage and we can't wait to come again. Thank you to Maureen, Anne and everyone else for making us feel so welcome!
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rural and secluded setting in the countryside. Warm pool. Very friendly and helpful hosts.
Cons: No WiFi signal in the room (which is also an advantage)!

Pros: Adorable b&b, run by a lovely lady who is friendly and helpful. The room I'd booked overlooked the gardens which were quite lovely. The bathroom was very clean and modern, the bed was very comfortable, and the room had 3 windows, so you could have lots of natural light if you chose to open the curtains. As I was the only guest at the time, I was asked what my preferred breakfast was (typically a full cooked breakfast is provided, and is included in the cost of booking). I don't usually go for cooked breakfasts, so I asked for cereal and toast. What I got was an array of cereals to choose from including 2 different styles of muesli, a bowl of beautiful, fresh local berries, yoghurt with rhubarb and honey, plenty of toast, locally made butter, two choices of preserve (both lovely), orange juice and a pot of tea (could have chosen coffee if I wanted). All served in a dining room with a lovely view of the garden and the squirrels playing in the trees across the road. 15 minutes from Dozmary Pool and half an hour from Tintagel.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Owner and staff very friendly. Great service and good value.
Cons: Perfect for my needs, not fussy and not fancy.
7.9 Good
Pros: The bedroom was large and had a super comfy bed, and the shower and toilet were clean and in working order. The cooked breakfast was really really good. Bananas in the fruit bowl were going brown, but the apples were good. As I was out the door early on Saturday they left fruit out for me so I could eat something before my friends wedding.
Cons: I was travelling alone and 8 months pregnant. I ordered dinner at the restaurant on the Friday evening at 8.30pm. I ordered the pork and waited over an hour for it to arrive! The meat was JUST cooked (I have worked in hotels and restuarants for over 10 years myself). When I mentioned this to the landlord he was very defensive and said that it had been cooked for the right amount of time at the right temperature. He would not take it to cook more! I explained after my meal that it may have been cooked, but that it was too pink for me as I am pregant and anything less than well done leaves the texture soft and it makes me feel sick...he walked off. I paid because I was so tired by this time and as a lone female I could not be bothered to argue. I also felt it was overpriced for the portion size at around £17. The main issue was Saturday night. I attended a wedding that day and although I had the door code on my key I thought it would be polite to call and say I was going to be late back (around midnight). I was told this was OK. In between my call and midnight I ended up swapping my taxi back with a family who had a sick child (as theirs had been really delayed). I called to advise that I would be later and to check the door code and the landlord got REALLY angry with me. He said he had waited up especially (I did not know this) and that he had a family to go back to and it was NOT OK! (I still havent seen anything written that there is a curfew or I would have stayed elsewhere). After sometime and telling me "you had better not make a noise when you come in" he gave me the code. I didnt want to go back there as he made me feel really vunerable, but I had no choice as it was so late. The room was comfy but no soundproofing so not good for light sleepers (above noisy kitchen open till late and you can hear neighbours). On Sunday I decided to face the landlord and he was polite, but no appology for the rudeness and I felt too vunerable to argue.
9.2 Excellent

Pros: Julia was so welcoming and made us feel very much at home, giving great advice on what to do in the local area. The room itself was lovely and our stay made even more special by all of the little touches like the snowdrops by the bed and sheepskin rugs from the farm! I have to mention the breakfast was delicious too - I would recommend Andrew's pancakes to anyone else that comes!
Cons: I wish we could have stayed for longer!

Pros: We and our puppies were made to feel really welcome, we loved that there were beds and packs prepared for our dogs in our room, the staff were exceptional, when we came down for breakfast there was a bowl of water for the pups and a sausage each for their breakfast. This is a lovely comfortable hotel. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

Pros: My association with this hotel goes back many years. I noted that the years had not had any ill effect on the very high standard that I remember from decades ago.
Cons: Nothing at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Staff were very helpful. Good pretty good. Had lovely English wine. Would go back.
Cons: No one at reception when we arrived and difficult to raise anyone. Could have done with a few more teabags and milk in room.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Superchargers.
Cons: The room, the leaky cistern that I was fixing in the early hours of the morning, the uncomfortable bed, the inconsiderate people talking at 2am in the bar, the fact that I could hear the inconsiderate people talking in the bar at 2am. I was expecting none of this and a decent sized room for the price I paid.
