Pros: The hostess is incredible, so warm, nice and generous! Couldn’t get better! Generous and delicious breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms. Everything is just perfect or even better!
Pros: The owner is an exceptional host, who puts her heart and love into taking care of her guests. It was a very modern place, very clean and comfy. The French breakfast was delicious and tailored to our needs.
Pros: Fantastic host, couldn't do enough for us even though we could only communicate through a combination of broken French and broken English. Would definitely recommend.
Cons: There was no fan or air con so the room was extremely hot during the heatwave.
Pros: The owner is very friendly and means well. The suite was spacy and comfy. Breakfast was nice: bread, croissant, home made jam and honey, corn flakes, grapes, cheese, coffee, tea and juice. Location: in a town without shops or restaurants. You have to drive about 7 kilometers to the nearest town. We received a small bottle of champagne when we left. Free parking space on the property. The rate of 110 euros for a night with breakfast (2 adults and 2 children), without aircon is rather pricy.
Cons: Unfortunately, when we stayed it was exeptionaly very hot. Without airconditioning it takes a while before you fall asleep. We woke up several times during the night. The owner appologized.
Pros: Excellent breakfast, lovely modern spacious facilities and a fabulous friendly host xx
Pros: This place is excellent. Welcome with a glass of Champagne. Very clean and stylish. Large rooms. Close to everything you need during a stop over. Small villages with good restaurants. Countryside with fantastic views. This is real countryside!!!!!!!!! Recommended to everyone
Cons: We liked everything. This place must score higher than a 10.
Pros: The hostess was incredibly friendly and welcoming, her home was comfortable and quiet, set in a very pretty village, surrounded by vineyards in the Champagne region.
With a stay at Gite chez Jo in Longchamp-sur-Aujon, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of La Boisserie and Memorial Charles de Gaulle. Featured amenities include microwave in a common area and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent location not far from the highway, very accomodating and kind host couple, even if we arrived very late and on a short notice. We managed to communicate without speaking french. Highly recommended.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: A real bathroom! Fresh orange juice, toast selection of marmalade and tea or coffee. Everything very clean
Cons: At breakfast no cornflakes but two types of cocoo pops cereal.
Pros: Brigitte was the most wonderful host, friendly, funny, helpful and generous with her time. The house is homely with great traditionally furnished rooms and clean bathrooms in the hallway. The property is on the outskirts of a small village with few amenities and close to many of the WW1 memorial and battle sites. Brigitte herself is a battlefield guide so contact her before your stay if you’d like your relatives military history researching. I rarely rate the places we stay but we felt so welcome here and the house and garden were so lovely that I felt compelled to do so. Thank you Brigitte.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
Pros: Not far from autoroute. Quiet country village setting. Welcomed dogs.
Pros: Cleanliness and quiet.
Cons: Shared bathroom.
Pros: Lovely little Gite with clean bedrooms, friendly owners and nice shared spaces.
Pros: Lovely quiet Gite. Spacious and with a great kitchen. Warm welcome.
Cons: Nothing. It is perfect.
Pros: Rooms were clean and comfortable, great kitchen facilities
Cons: As a family purchasing breakfast wasn't value for money , I was expecting freshly bought croissants and bread, not stuff I could of easily bought myself for less
Pros: This is the third time we have stayed here, on route to the south of France. It makes a perfect stopover point in such a tranquil setting after all the motorway driving. The hosts are lovely and very helpful. The gite/B&B is very well equipped so that if you are just doing a one night stay, you still have use of a kitchen too. Although the bathrooms are not ensuite, we don't have a problem with that, and twice we have been the only people in the property. We will be using this gite again when we travel in that direction.
Located in Colombey-les-deux-Églises, Maison & Tartine offers a garden with a terrace. The family house of Charles de Gaulle, La Boisserie, is only 500 metres away. Some guest rooms feature a terrace. All rooms have a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and free toiletries. A buffet breakfast is available at Maison & Tartine. Guests can also dine at the restaurant, which is open every day, and is located 500 metres away. Chaumont is only a 25-minute drive away and the Orient Regional Forest is a 30-minute drive from the property. Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout and free public parking is possible nearby.
Pros: Beautiful accommodation & kept spotlessly clean. Nice continental breakfast in the lovely quirky shop/cafe.
Cons: Disappointing service in nearby restaurant. Despite booking a table for 8 pm, they didn't seat us until 9 pm and we were the last table to be served. Felt like we were being made to suffer because of the 52%. Have resolved to wear a "it wasn't us" badge next year.
Pros: Great amount of space. In a very peaceful setting. Comfortable beds.
Pros: Good breakfast in lovey setting, amazing room, very friendly staff.
Cons: A tea/coffee tray in the room with a kettle would be a nice addition
Pros: The decor and ambiance, exactly as pictures portrayed in photos. Large comfy bed, like a big marshmallow, but not too soft as first expected. Good bedding, sheets and blankets so could adapt to warmth needed rather than a quilt. Good breakfast and great croissants, you can even have Champagne!! Dogs are not a problem they can even make friends with the resident west highland terrier, at breakfast.
Cons: Just found the sisal flooring a little hard on bare feet.
Pros: Bed extra comfy
Cons: All was better.
Pros: Super, super! The room was delightful with a great walk in shower. The bed was very comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep. A lovely breakfast was served in the cafe, the best we have had on this trip and very good value for €8.50! Will definitely come back!
Cons: Shouldn’t complain but the bells were loud at 7.00am in the morning!,
Pros: Very charming staff, and the only hotel in 8 different places on this trip where anyone took my bag up the rather steep stairs ! Nicely decorated comfortable bedroom - central heating turned on as the weather got colder. Ample private parking only metres away. Good breakfast, and (off-site ) dinner. Well worth the detour !
Cons: Nothing that I can think of !
Pros: Everything else. Good as usual.
Cons: No coffee or tea making facilities. So no early morning cuppas, you have to wait for breakfast. This is a big miss!!
Located in Colombey-les-deux-Eglises, Hotel Restaurant La Grange du Relais is within a 15-minute walk of La Boisserie and Memorial Charles de Gaulle. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location friendly staff and wonderful restaurant.
Cons: Room could do with air con or a fan.
Pros: Cleaniness ...spotless
Cons: Waitress with short hair at dinner time very aggressive, she could have been more polite.
Pros: Very poor . A bowl of Rotten Fruit on the buffet table which was cramped and badly laid out . 1 croissant. We have been coming here 4 times a year for over 5years and it is so sad that the high standards have fallen so low . The breakfasts were always a great highlight in a room that was a delight, Dinner was equally awful . The staff were rushed and unfriendly. The steaks we ordered were stone cold and bone dry. We left 70 % of the food . The wine which we have been drinking for all the years we have been coming here was the only thing that kept up the old standards . Very depressing
Cons: See what we did like
Pros: We love that it is rural yet very accessible to the autoroute. We stay here every year. The rooms are fairly basic but they are always clean and the beds are comfortable. There is ample parking close to the rooms. The restaurant is brilliant, very popular with locals so I always book a table on the terrace at the same time as booking the room. Nice bar with lovely staff, all very helpful.
Cons: There really is nothing to dislike. The bathrooms are not luxurious but clean and functional.
Pros: Loved the very ”frenchness” of this lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a very good buzz even On a Sundays evening. A bonus for us to find an hotel open for dinner on that evening in France. Parking was easy outside at the front of the premises and the room was spacious and equipped with a massive shower room en suite.
Pros: We booked this hotel as the first stop on our 17 day holiday with 2 other couples. We were due to arrive early evening however as the traffic in Belgium did not play out well we were much later and therefore our stay was brief. We were welcomed warmly, table for dinner amended for our late start, pre-dinner drinks outside and then dinner. What an amazing meal - you can tell that the restaurant has a good reputation when there are locals dining there too. I choose the meat and cheese platter with an included glass of chilled champagne followed by an amazing fillet steak that I still talking about. Great service and there is nothing more impressive than eating fantastic food outside at that time of night. Off to bed in a lovely well appointed room, with some outside space if you needed with a small table and 2 chairs in a shared garden. Large bathroom, power shower and complimentary toiletries if needed. Good nights sleep and then off for breakfast. Simple fare here and perhaps the smallest choice of our holiday but enough to satisfy us and we were off. Would recommend and would stay again.
Pros: The host was available to meet us for a late check in when our Eurotunnel was delayed (after midnight). We had tired young children and we were very glad she was able to be so helpful.
Pros: Everything ! Fantastic staff, great location. No negative comments. Highly recommended !
Pros: Plenty of room. Amazing host who even sold us wine!! Good spot for stopover for big groups on their way to the mountains.
Pros: We liked that there was a bed for each person and the breakfast was wonderful. I would highly recommend this spot for families as there is room to spread out. 20 minute drive to Nigloland which was a hit with my kids.
With a stay at Hostellerie La Montagne in Colombey-les-deux-Eglises, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of La Boisserie and Memorial Charles de Gaulle. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely room and dinner was perfect
Pros: Very comfortable and well equipped room. Excellent food but fixed price menu on Sunday evening was expensive
Pros: Location, gardens, and secure parking.
Cons: Room and bathroom lacked shelves and surfaces to put things on.
Pros: The dinner was beautifully prepared and delicious. The breakfasts were reasonable but choice of fresh fruit was limited and the orange juice was pasteurised and not freshly squeezed. The dining room was smart and there was an attractive terrace on which to eat and drink in fine weather.
Cons: Our bedroom. It was spacious and had probably been repainted in recent years. But the small bedroom window looked out on a covered area about 20 feet in depth where one could park one's car and only beyond this "garage" area could one catch a glimpse of sunlight and the countryside. Result - a very dark bedroom where it was necessary to use the electric light all the time. The w.c., opening off the bedroom did have a porthole window but the bathroom itself had no window and was equipped with old fitments e.g. a bath with legs and very high sides from which older people would have difficulty in getting out. Drawbacks probably reflected in the relatively modest price of the room.
Pros: The location was excellent, rural in an attractive village. Breakfast was average. The food, wine and service were all excellent. The rooms were comfortable with good sized beds.
Cons: The welcome on arrival was poor. There was a notable lack of a 'mine host' and there were no flowers of any description. Very poor Wi-fi connection.
Pros: After the TGV got cancelled we decided to drive to Paris. It turned out to be further than expected and we had to find a place to stay. We arrived late. The room was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was super friendly and asked if we would like to eat a little in their Michelin star restaurant. It was excellent.
With a stay at Le Saint Nicolas in Bar-sur-Aube, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Nigloland and St. Peter's Church. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Locality not bad
Cons: Stayed here 15 years ago when it was newly refitted... Nothing spent on it since... Hotel had a bad smell, our bathroom sealant was rank and the AIR-Con USELESS
Pros: Lovely building in a lovely french village. Refurbed nice clean bathroom.
Cons: Advertised as having free parking, no parking at all, street parking only, however nice safe area. Hotel describes itself as a smoke free property, group of foreign people smoking shouting and playing loud music at both 2.30 am and then again at breakfast time.
Pros: The breakfast was so varied.
Cons: Not all rooms had a fan as the air conditioning didn’t work.
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Cost of breakfast
Pros: breakfast was great, a lot of choices, the reception guy is quite friendly, the swimming pool is top.
Cons: no airco, but it's ok.
With a stay at Hotel des Dhuits in Colombey-les-deux-Eglises, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of La Boisserie and Memorial Charles de Gaulle. Featured amenities include express check-in, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Really really friendly staff. Makes all the difference after a long drive to be greeted so kindly. Thank you
Cons: It was perfectly fine for the price and rating
Pros: Great location; helpful staff; comfortable/pleasant room; easy walk into town and Charles DeGaulle Memorial
Pros: Convenient. Reasonable restaurant.
Cons: Only window in room was a velox skylight affording no view so rather claustrophobic.
Cons: Small Beds, Very Cold rooms, No heating, no hot water & Staff did not speak English. Nobody was at the reception at late checkin had to call few times to get the door opened :(
Pros: Convenient location and helpful reception. Pleasant restaurant.
Cons: The room was a little ‘tired’
Pros: Nice clean hotel in good setting
Cons: We arrived around 3pm hotel was locked with a notice stating that due to the grape picking season starting, there would be no restaurant (dinner) facilities available to guests. We discovered that over 100 grape pickers were staying and eating in the hotel - hence no facilities for other guests! An advance warning of this would have been nice as we were travelling with a dog and only stay in hotels billed as dog friendly. With notice, we could have made other arrangements. They let us down badly. Bedroom was on the small side on this occasion with only a 3/4 size bed.
With a stay at hotel de la pomme d or in Bar-sur-Aube, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Nigloland and St. Peter's Church. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Tired. Lacking a bit of pride.
Pros: Friendly service. Very clean room. Give a better description of the address. Eg
Cons: Thought there was a restaurant there is NOT S
Pros: The rooms were of a high standard, and very clean. One room had a new bathroom, which was lovely. The other had not yet been refurbished. The manager was very helpful and accommodating. It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room.
Cons: The reception area was a little discouraging, in a small bar. Hotel is in the midst of refurbishment so the route from reception to the rooms was a bit unprepossessing. We were unable to find any restaurants at all in the town, apart from McDonald's (the kids were more than happy with this!)
Pros: A bar with rooms. Reception is a bit hit or miss as there is no one there if the bar is closed, and we couldn’t get the phone to work. However once we got in the owner could not have been more helpful. Room was a bit tired, but fine for overnight. Secure garage space for the motorbikes.
Cons: No reception when the bar is closed. For some reason we could not get through properly to the displayed phone number.
Pros: I had Bastille Day fireworks out my chamber window as I fell asleep. A very nice memory.
Cons: The bathroom needs refurbishing
Pros: Very comfortable and the host was very nice and friendly.
Cons: There is nothing we did not like about the hotel it was spot on for the money we had spend.
