Good Security with swipe cards. Very clean and well appointed rooms. Hotel very tidy all round and in good location. N/A
the hotel staff, the location and the food were abolutely fantastic.you cannot get any better than dat. well done everything was absolutely perfect for me
We like the location of the hotel, on both our stays we had sea view rooms and our next stay will also be in a sea view room to make the most of the location. We think that Southend had been improved by the redevelopment of the Hotel. Our first stay was one night and the second two nights, our only complaint is the cost of parking and leaving our car in the car park opposite. The first stay cost us approximately £15.00 and the second £24.00. I completely understand that the car park is not the hotels juresdiction but the discount the hotel gets for its guests is a paltry one.
Central situation! Your clerical provisions need improvment! The opening line of this enquiry has opened with 'Dear Ferris' Perhaps a prefix of 'Mr.' would have been wise!! Soft drinks were ridiculously expensive!
Extremely clean room, lovely flat screen on well, very comfy bed. This hotel has a lovely residents bar and is right at the end of the high street. You could not get a better location. Nothing we got to check in v. early, got our room slightly upgraded, staff were lovely, tea & coffee in our room - no negatives.
Clean spacious hotel. Comfy room, nice bathrom and good size bath towels! Love the art work everywhere. Hairdrier a bit hard to use and a bit weak but worked .
We were upgraded to a beautiful sea-view room on the fifth floor. The room was spacious, clean and the air conditioning ensured a comfortable sleep No bad points
Good location, nice room, nice bar, 12pm checkout £20 premium for sea view is a bit high. No hotel car park
Good size room, not too hot The desk clerk on my arrival was slow and unfriendly (All the rest o fteh staff were lovely)
Lovely hotel and great food My room was a shoebox, but I guess you get what you pay for. Also, I was told at reception that breakfast was not served until 8.30 on weekends. I needed to leave for my work by 8.30. I discovered that breakfast started at 8.00 when I went a few minute early to see if I could grab something. I trust this will be corrected as I passed the info onto the hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent food and very good choice. General cleanliness throughout. Our only complaint was that whereas we were booked in for 5 nights,Monday to Saturday - we were very disturbed to have our bill pushed under the door early on Friday morning which informed us that we were expected to check out that day. The young lady on the Reception Desk was extremely helpful and did get it sorted out, but we feel that it was something that should not have occurred.
It is a very well run hotel with friendly helpfull staff and when I did have a slight problem in the early hours it was resolved without any fuss. keep up the good work.
Lovely atmosphere in restaurant & terrace Room very hot. No hot water for shower/wash. Light over mirror in bathroom flashing on & off all night.
Great location, right on the seafront, lovely views from the restaurant area out across the bay. Comfortable, modern, clean, friendly, good parking facilities. Breakfast was first class. Bathroom was very cold even with the towel radiator on. I stayed in one of the junior suites on the top floor, with no central heating. Heating was via the air conditioning unit, central heating would have been much preferable.
pleasent and friendly staff good food
Staff were extremely helpful and made the stay... None
Enjoyed every moment we were there.
The position is excellent. It was a short walk from Thorpe Bay station. Every one was very friendly. The sun shone! The hotel is quite shabby in places. Could do with a lift
The staff was very welcoming. The hotel is very clean and the food was excellent.Very pleased with everything.
Proximity to airport - London Southend. NA
Nice pleasant clean hotel. Very close to Southend airport! No problems with noise. Car park fairly cramped and you might end up a fair walk away from the hotel. Staff were very friendly. The room was fairly small but as I expected. I'd be very upset if I'd paid the full room rate! always look around for a discounted price!
room was warm, clean, quiet. Bathroom excellant, even had a proper hairdryer. Staff helpfeul, efficient and smart. Could have been more tea bags and milk in hospitality tray, but on mentioning at reception were told they would have been happy to deliver more. As it was past one am didn't think it worth it.
Nice modern hotel staff helpful One. Second nights sleep ruined by skutty youths in room(S) opposite. Twice I called reception (12.30 & 3.30am) Music shouting girls screaming mobile phone calls outside room and I think the smell of weed!! To be fair to your staff they stopped the noise however I was too wound up to sleep again properly
I liked the fact that even so close to the Motorways could hardly hear aby traffic at all. Was impressed with the £9.99 offer of movies/internet, and was therefore disappointed that it wasnt available according to the TV. Also, more and more hotels supply free wifi so having to pay wasnt welcome
Staff forgot to put towels in the room but luckily I brought my own along. Having said that I believe it to have been a genuine oversight.
Warm, quiet, easy to get to The room was ready ontime but as soon as we opened the door to drop our bags of, we were hit with a terrible smell. This at first was thought to be from the bathroom, but this looked clean, the smell was really bad the longer we were in the room. The cost of watching the tv was high £9.99 for one days veiwing of 2 extra channels, and a slow internet connection, this internet was via tv using a keyboard that was wirless.... This alone did not amount to 9.99 costs, the movies were included in this package, but the smell in the room did not permit us to stay in long enough to watch any films. Over all I was disapointed by the smell and facilities availabile were poor. price and location were good!
I was made to feel most welcome by the reception staff, who were very helpful. None
it was close to lakeside shopping centre staff very rude
Clean rooms with excellent ensuite bathroom. Very modern rooms. Chargeable internet access. Other hotels stayed at recently, have included free wi-fi access in the rooms.
Excellent location for shopping and leisure. Linen wasn't clean as it should be and I asked for clean pillowcases as we could smell the old pillows through the cases. Carpet needed a clean. Perhaps we were unfortunate to have been assigned a well used room.
Breakfast and time spent in the room ;) Amount to choose from the snacks menu - stated 24 hours however only had 25% of the menu available.
Reasonable value for money. Reasonably equipped room. See above.
Poor bar facility outside dining room.Too small, cold and characterless
Location, layout , staff friendliness, caring
Room was clean, tidy and to a very good standard Noise.... Had loud noise from functions on both nights dispite changing room.
very comfortable, easy to find, lots of space, quiet as a mouse. I'd give the food a miss. the staff are great and really attentive but whoever is in the kitchen needs to learn how to cook. One cremated meal arrived which looked like boil in the bag, just couldnt eat it. There were only a handful of people in the restaraunt now I knwo why.
The hotel, staff and location were excellant the breakfast was really nice we came to the hotel for a wedding and everything about the hotel etc could not fault
Had a fantastic massage, had a good dinner and attended a beautiful wedding A little isolated as i didn't have a car
The hotel staff were very freindly N/A
friendly staff, beautiful property, professional but relaxed atmosphere
Beautiful rooms and surrounding grounds. I had no problems at all with my room, but I did overhear people saying that if you have a room above the bar then you wont sleep. Gala's, disco's and Salsa evenings are noisy and stay on til late.
slept as i was working localy
The room was a sea view room and very large, bedroom and bathroom very clean, very very close to southend pier and amusements and to the town centre itself bed was hard but that is a personal prefernce and not one that should be held accountable towards the hotel, the noise from the floorboards from the room above was rather loud both in the night and in the morning so not one for the light sleeper
friendly staff. was made welcome. nothing
Nothing The central heating didn't work. I was welcomed by a confused say 15 year old boy. there was a birthday party of the 13 year old daughter in the residents lounge. I didn;t get the seaview room I boooked. they didn;t eeven have my on line booking. In fact there was not on redeeming facot.
The room was comfy, spacious and lovely decor, view of sea was lovely to wake up to Nothing at all
Polite staff and good breakfast.
The historic significance and the hotel's representation of all that is good and traditional about English "superior guest-house" hospitality. I seriously cannot think of any.
I did not like the size of the room it was far to small is my knees were touching the shower when sat on the loo. The drains needed sorted as this caused my room to smell and it was far to cold.
friendly helpful, clean and tidy value for money
Nothing really. I don't think I will ever stay in the hotel again. The rooms were really uncomfortable. The beds were horrible. We asked for a non smoking room and had stains of cigars in our room. But the worst part is that, since pets are allowed, you can't really know how clean the rooms and the rest is. When stepping out of my room I found dog durst. You can imagine my shock. It has been the most disgusting experience ever. And the worse part is that the staff was not at all sorry for what happened.
Not clean, badly in need of a refurb
Excellent room ,lovely hotel brilliant breakfast. Set me up for my journey home to Scotland after travelling up through France. I had travelled 450 miles through France, journeyed over the channel to Dover then drove to your hotel all in 1 day. When we arrived in the lovely room I really needed a drink so in the bar I ordered 1 cider and one glass of red wine for my wife. The charge was £6 I handed over a £10 Scottish note and the barman queried this and dissapeared. I told the barmaid I was too tired for this nonsense and I was drinking my drink anyway. The barman returned and said it will be ok. After I went back to the bar for the same order again, the barmaid said something to me that I did not pick up so I handed over another £10 note as this was all I had and was charged £6-50. I hope this was not a surcharge. Very offensive if it is. Anyway I will stay there again as all the other staff especially the breakfast staff were great and I am going to overlook that incident which borders on racial discrimination
The hotel is convenient for visiting our family and reasonably priced. Decor in public areas is rather outdated and toilets in public areas require updating. Our standard room was well decorated and maintained. Rather short staffed at breakfast time - tables not cleared quickly causing delays at busy times but the 2 staff that we saw worked very hard.
Comfort and location
The views of the lake from the room were incredible. Not enough staff we were kept waiting for everything.
the lake needs a major refurb and not worth the room rates
The hotel is convenient and good value for money Poor soundproofing between rooms
relaxing views, over the lake, water features, not working,(not the end of the world though)
View from window. would of liked nets at window that u could pull across to give a bit of privacy without blocking out view
The nice proprietors
Awesome, fantastic, welcoming staff. This extended through from reception to managers who were hard working and extremely helpful. I may well need to stay in Southend again, and would return to this hotel without hesitation. My wife booked this hotel based on feedback from previous guests, and I was not disappointed. It's probably a bit pricey - but in view of the value, I would be prepared to ignore that in the future. You always get what you pay for, and this place is seriously good.
The breakfast was really good (a lot of choise), and staff was nice and friendly and the location is very good. was noisy. In front of the hotel were few tables and chairs. Other guests were noisy, and we couldnt sleep.
Staff helpful and welcoming Parking arrangements a disappointment, low shower pressure, slightly shabby decor, noise of heating system from early hours. This would be ok as a 2 star but is a poor 4 star and I cant see how this is comparable to other 3 star hotels in the area.
The staff attitudes towards visitor Yes our pravcy was invaded twice by the domestic and this really upset me.
The hotel is in a quiet location, close to the beach with parking, staff were polite and the room was clean and comfortable I expected a greater variety of food but what was available was good
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Comfortable room and substantial breakfast Bedroom furniture a little dated
The hotel was clean, warm and the staff friendly. The breakfast was outstanding. The location was ideal and we really enjoyed our stay 100% No not at all
The friendly and helpful staff
Reception staff and the standard of the room for the money so close to London.
Very good 3-star hotel for a decent price. Large free private car park. Close to the highway, so easy car access. Noise from the highway and the roundabout in front of the hotel is very limited when the windows are closed (airco in the room). The food and drinks in the restaurant / bar are very nice and not too expensive. The number of TV channels is very limited. Only BBC, ITV and a few others. No dedicated sports or news channels. In the weekend, breakfast is served from 08:00 hrs (late), on weekdays from 06:30 hrs.
Room immaculate. Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again. None
Location was excellent for the Lakeside Shopping Centre The staff were not very good, when paying in cash I was told that I needed ID as required by Secretary of State, absolute rubbish, that is just a Thurrock policy and believe me it was nice to suggest I may trash the room, hence the real reason.
Teh only thing I missed was fruit in the morning like an apple or banana but that might be me as I do not have a lot of time in the morning and I like to grab some fruit with me.
great atmosphere created by friendly staff. bed was a bit hard
booked a twin room but they said it was a double
Brilliant Hotel, Less than 5 mins away from Lakeside, where I was shopping for the weekend, was what we needed Room service that I had to go and collect.
no early bird breakfast but it was sunday
Location. Breakfast. Owners. Almost booked a nearby place at half the price, but was swung by the prospect of an 'Executive Room'. The Waverley has some really lovely rooms... but not all of them it seems, & unfortunately the room we got was a disappointing one - duvet had cigarette burn; carpet was most stained I've ever seen; room was cramped; had to stand on the bed to operate tv from the top (no remote). It's a shame as some rooms looked great, but that just makes it even more disappointing when you pay the same money for one of the poorer ones. We asked if there was another room - but they were all reserved, which shows that people in the know, do return. For a lovely stay ask for one of the more recently refurbished rooms, otherwise you might be disappointed
The room was clean and well stocked with tea and coffee, the staff were friendly.
Very friendly owner and freshly decorated.
Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere made me feel very at ease.
Good clean family run hotel. Pleasant staff, good facilities and close to attractions. a great bar/bistro with a seaside outlook was situated on the beach a few yards away. None
Very friendly owners
Lovely styled room, nice suprise. loved the sofa. loads of tea, sugar and milk always an asset Heating didnt work. toilet was heavily stained and smelt, holes in the sheets blinds didnt close at the bottom, had to stand on sofa to draw the curtain. fire alarm sounds 'fire in zone 1. there wasnt any members of staff on site so I dealt with it, muting the alarm and calling a number. My guess is a smoker but if it hadnt been we could have been in trouble
Quick and easy book in /out
location and comfort Could do with a refresh in decor.
Good for Business a little bit pricey
very comfortable room, clean, all facilities nothing, was very happy with room and service provided
Common areas were ok, room was large and bright Decor needed refreshing
room was nice. front desk staff very helpful. Good choice at breakfast cold lobby area and entrance, and breakfast room was rather cold but it was a very cold and windy day
The fact that we were given complimentary breakfast, a bottle of wine sent to our room and charged half price because the booking had been messed up. Although I had requested a non smoking room, they said that because my confirmation slip only said 'non smoking preference', it wasn't guaranteed. I had requested a standard room, thinking it was a double, and they said it was a twin. I was also told that because others had paid deposits rather than just given payment details, they were given priority, even though I booked the room through this website before the majority of guests. As I was in tears at reception, because I was made to feel as if I had done something wrong, another receptionist took pity on me and tried to help with the goodwill gesture. The Duty Managers said that I had to put up with a smoking twin as that was all that was left. Not at all impressed with website or hotel
Convenietly located for what we had to do. Room was quiet despite a wedding party taking place
it was close to some nice resturants and clubs. the room was spotless but got very hot with heating on all night. staff very friendly and helpfull drinks at bar very expensive in hotel so went to harvester for driks which was alot cheaper
Friendliness of staff in the bar Interior (carpets, panels etc.) is worn and need replacement, fresh paint etc.
Easy online booking process, very clean and confortable. Close to good amenaties Can't fault
Very clean, comfortable, staff efficient and friendly. None
Extremely friendly staff - and good clean rooms
The room was clean, well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Good value for money.
Room was large, comfortable, clean and quiet and adjacent restaurant for dinner and breakfast was good None
The room was very hot
Able to be near to a family event No
The hotel was situated close to where my family lived and it was near lakeside for shopping. The staff were very friendly and the room was big and comfortable. I would recommend it and would stay there again. Anne no
Worm Welcoming Cleaning in General
Very clean. Breakfast was lovely. We asked for a late check out, yet our key cards were cancelled, and housekeeping asked us if we were leaving. Two thin pillows, for two people is appalling for a 3 star hotel.
Noise from the corridor - the room was 160 and the door outside banged until about 3am. Also the restaurant was shut due to a function and we had to go back into Lakeside to eat.
it took 3 rooms before we got the type off room we had booked ,then there were no towels ,on asking for extra milk ,for theroom ,it was coming with a night porter butt never arrived ,the staff were just not switched on ,tables in the resturant were not cleared between courses
Good Quality Self Service Breakfast Rooms in need a refurb starting to look tired
All was as described. The room had an odour of stale smoke although it was a non smoking room.
Location Looked shabby in places. Bar was expensive
We were going to Brands Hatch and this was the only one which had rooms and hence we booked and stayed! was not the best or safest looking hotel when you drove in, but everything was ok.....Breakfast was served in this nice classical looking space and it was nice. The rooms were decent in size and were clean. It has most things that we needed. But they gave us a twin bed room when we had asked for a double... but it was late so and we did not mind. Single towel when there were two of us. The Beds could have been better but fair enough.
Close to highway the price was too high. I paid 100 pound while all other guest paid 75 pound. The internet charge with 14 pound if a complete overcharge and did not work properly
Great Stay, elegant surroundings, easy parking and great food. Bar prices are a bit too high at 3.50 for an expresso, same 3.50 for a single short.
The staff were very unhelpful because it was only on arrival that we were advised we had to pay for our stay in advance. Unlike most hotels that let you pay at the end of your stay. The hotel e-mailed me on the day that I arrived in England, and as I was travelling never got round to receiving the notification. Not impressed with having to find cash to pay as we were not financially prepared to pay upfront.
Facilities good, bright, clean, warm, friendly.
No shampoo in bathroom, towel rail does not work, service in restaurant is very slow
Staff at the Beefeater restaurant made a great effort but the table tops were 'sticky' and the cutlery stained. Bed could have been firmer
Only disappointment was booking in it took too long
the best budget hotel in Basildon
Reception very helpful and informative on our arrival. All staff were cheerful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Staff at breakfast particularly good.
Everything is as I would expect. Stated while there to the manager about placing a modesty board on the split level dining as while seated on the lower area , it was possible to see the other female diners under garments which made me feel very uncomfortable .
everything fine - as always in Basildon the same as ever ;-)
Usual Premier Inn facilities, good breakfast and politeness of staff.
