Le Clos des Cordeliers - Sézanne - Building
1
9.7 Excellent (133 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for the first time in June of last year on our way South, and absolutely loved it. We returned in July this year on our way back North, and found this gem to be even better. The garden is superb, with a wonderful variety of trees, and so peaceful. The accommodation is comfortable and well appointed, and was cool in the exceptionally hot weather. Daniel was as charming and welcoming as before. We were sorry to miss meeting Christina again, however! Once more, the breakfast was superb. This is a gem of a place, a real treasure.
Cons: A note for other travellers. We dined again in “ Mezzanine “ as it had been so good last year. The food itself was as good as we remembered, and we enjoyed it when we eventually received it. But the service was appalling, not only extremely slow but also so offhand as to be close to offensive! And it was not just us because we were foreign or British. The two young women on duty were overworked and plainly resented being there at all! We booked for and arrived at 8.00 p.m.. Our order and request for preliminary drinks was not taken until 8.40p.m.! So beware! This, of course, is nothing to do with Daniel or Le Clos des Cordeliers, which as we say above, is superb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable room, very kind owner, beautiful garden and animals, everything was great. Thank you!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, we could walk into town and driving to other places locally was easy. The patron Daniel was a mine of information and, although his English was as weak as our French, we used our phones to translate, which worked really well. The room, breakfast, advice and facilities were all outstanding.
Cons: I struggle to find anything for this section. To be really picky, perhaps the only thing was the unfortunate lip in the drive as you drive off the road. This caught the underside of the car. Having said that, Daniel provided wooden planks to resolve the problem. Such a nice gentleman!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice and comfy. The host are lovely and helpful, the breakfast is excellent and the garden is outstanding. Private parking. We highly recommend this beautiful place! Couldn’t wish anything more.
Cons: We just loved everything.

Pros: The accommodation was stylish, modern and well equipped. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The highlight was Jaqueline, our host, who was very knowledgable and informative, and took time to make recommendations to ensure we had an excellent time. She was very generous with the champagne tasting, and the champagne from this maison is excellent. Breakfast was excellent in both quality and quantity.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The room was just great, very spacious and well decorated, all pretty new. Breakfast was excellent, with a large choice of salted and sweet stuff, maybe I will add some fruits, but didn't really miss it neither. Pros: Classy little hotel, beautiful old building nicely renovated. Very nice room, quiet surroundings in the nicest part of the village. Excellent breakfast and very attentive and kind host. Fully recommended!
Cons: Not really a negative point, more of a suggestion: being such a relaxing and pleasant place, maybe the bathroom could have a jacuzzi bath.

Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: The warm welcome of the host Valerie and the husband and daughter. The place is very quiet.
Cons: The breakfast is ok, but could be more variated. Like an egg, some ham, some Nutella or cheese variety. Some small things that can be added or changed to have a very nice b&b.

Cons: Everything was perfect
Le Château de Mon Père - Sézanne - Building

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Magical place. Great attention to detail.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Calm, peaceful, lovely dog. Greeted by daughter - she spoke English so well. Bed comfy all clean and was able to microwave a meal I had prepared day before so we didn’t have to find an eatery. Shower good and hot, cool refreshing breeze and so quiet. Breakfast lovely
Cons: If I have to find a negative it would just be maybe handwash as only 2 sachets of shower gel but we managed to save some for hand washing, and a hand towel would have been great, but these would not prevent us from returning
8.8 Excellent
Pros: What a gem! Beautiful old Château in lovely grounds would definitely recommend.
Cons: Lack of nearby restaurants
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay, made very welcome by the owners. Rooms very clean.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous stay at Chateau de mon Pere. The place is a synonym for tranquility, especially if you ask for a bottle of champagne from the host's cooperative. The building and rooms are so full of character you can hardly find anything better. Well done for renovating such a beautiful chateau. Highly recommended for a nice visit to Champagne and daily trips to the surrounding vineyards.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet country environment.
Cons: Nowhere to hang clothes. No soap. Shared kitchen not clean - with ants.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money for a castle in the countryside with nice Bath, Bed and atmosphere. Lovely wooden Bridge crossing by car.
Cons: It is more a B&B than a Hotel so, obviously do not expect hotel services (No TV etc) not a problem for me but people should be aware before. Nearest town is a good 10 min drive also. Those negative points would be negative if the room was charged 80+€ a night. But for this price, it is really fair :)

Cons: Nothing negative to say at all.

Pros: Amazed to find we had sole use of the bungalow and there was a pool which the owner kindly uncovered for us to swim. The breakfast was incredible - 12 little individual homemade jams to try!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: It was quiet.
Cons: There was nobody available on arrival or until breakfast. There was nowhere to eat in the town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and comfortable surroundings
Cons: Better lighting in the bedroom
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and good bed.
Cons: The room is very small for the cost and you have to be there before 6pm, which can be difficult if you are travelling.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and beautiful B&B with wonderful rooms. We slept in the family room which was very spacious. The beds were very good as well. The breakfast was more than sufficient with enough choice. They have around 20 types of home made jams, they prepared us an egg every morning. Very convenient that you could park the car on the property itself. Very good champagne, unfortunately they did not have time to show us around on the property because the harvest was about to start (which we totally understand). Nevertheless, we would advise everybody to stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay! Lovely room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast- perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet included excellent cold meats and cheeses. It was an unexpected bonus to have eggs cooked for us by the friendly staff. They also advised which restaurants were open for dinner and phoned to book a table for us. The glass of Cjampagne on arrival was a nice touch. The price was higher thsn we usually pay, but the quality justified it.
Cons: The weather. But the locals were welcoming the first rains after a long dry spell so I forgave them for that. And, to be fair, it stopped draining when we walked the few hundred metres to the restaurant for dinner.

6.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: parking place was not eaily accesible for cars, rating by booking.com too high
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Isabella was extremely pleasant and made a very nice breakfast. Hotel was very clean, warm and welcoming.
Cons: Wish they had actual parking. Area is a little run down but being worked on.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super nice owner. Cozy and warm place.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit too simple.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old house with a pleasant garden, providing a home-feel stay. The rural stay is 20 km away from the bustle of Epernay. Towards Troyes (other direction) it is a 50 minute drive. Baye, the village is small though has a cute church from the 12th to 14th century, as well as an old chateau turned into religious retreat center. The village had interesting historical events in 1814 and 1914
Cons: You need to go there by car, and visiting Reims, Epernay, or Troyes require drives of minimum 20 minutes through lovely landscapes
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely location (quiet, peaceful, in a village with bakery and pub with food, nice walks) and the hostess was just so lovely and welcoming and made sure you felt at home. There were games in the sitting room for rainy days and constant cold water or tea/coffee making facilities also in the sitting room. Parking round the back v convenient. Hostess recommended somewhere to eat in another lovely village nearby, was excellent recommendation. Nice garden if you wanted to take tea there or sit out and read. Unsure if dogs are allowed but the countryside would be wonderful for dogs!
Cons: I was foot to the floor trying to get there in time for check-in after spending a day at Verdun. (Made it!) The associated champagne house wasn’t open (owing to early harvest I think) but I’d asked that at time of reservation. If you want somewhere within walking distance of champagne houses you’ll need to do your research first. The room I was in had only shower, no bath - no big deal but for expectation management .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location close to an amazing bakery and champagne tasting. Very charming old home with a beautiful garden in the back. Good breakfast!
Cons: Was a little difficult to locate as the address link and google maps took us to another home initially.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good value. Comfortable bed. Renovated bathroom. Generous breakfast. Good WiFi. Very friendly staff.
Cons: Older property. Clean and simple, but could benefit from some upgrades. But zero complaints.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, older but sufficient rooms, the owner is very nice, big parking place
Cons: The house is directly at the main street, so the rooms are a little bit noisy. Steep path to the parking place.

Entre Vignes Et Marais - Vert-Toulon - Hallway
13
9.2 Excellent (11 reviews)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very very friendly people who really pay attention to you as a guest. Unfortunately, the lock of the toilet was broken so i locked myself up but for the rest it was a very nice and pleasant stay.
Cons: Very friendly people.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really quirky set up ...lovely comfortable and spacious room. Owner really accommodating when I wanted to check in early. Comfortable bed and all very clean.
Cons: Would work better for a group of friend or two couples as the kitchen and bathroom are shared...they are also both In the same room I.e. The shower and the sink are also In The same room as the kitchen facilities. Also, not the easiest place to find and there is absolutely nothing in the village so take food and wine if you're wanting to eat after checking in. But a lovely place and a great stay. Great for a stopover.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service with a lovely dining experience, the evening meal was superb.
Cons: Directions to parking area could be clearer on booking.
6.7 Good
Pros: Room comfortable.
Cons: Expensive for what it is. Changes to how breakfast buffet is served have led to queues. Coffee now from a machine instead of staff serving it
6.7 Good
Pros: The Restaurant offering was superb. The menu limited but the food absolutely wonderful
Cons: The room was very tired with wallpaper seams coming apart. Lack of any art work to offset a blank wall with only the ironing board hanging there.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Dinner was good.
Cons: Poor room with unattractive balcony. Room looked like one in a hospital. expensive having stayed widely around France. Stale bun found on the floor. Wash hand basin of poor design. Difficult the empty of water.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: What is there to be said about a Logis De France: It is always an amazing experience! Especially if there is a gastronomical restaurant on the premises. The property is much bigger than expected. There is a sauna and a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, a terrace. The big, private parking is next to the room. The rooms are big and comfy albeit a bit old-fashioned but it fits the countryside's tambience. The rooms are big, much bigger than is to be expected. The staff is very friendly and forthcoming. It's located in the Champagne region and close to Les Vertus, one of the villages where you can go get champaign directly at the property. Breakfast is very good with a lot of choice. Eggs however (see what I didn't like) are a shame.
Cons: The property, the restaurant, the breakfast and the service being perfect, it definitely deserves better omelette than the ready made ones from egg powder. It just tastes terribly and is an insult to the taste buds. I never understood what hotel managers think they will gain from using such a terrible product!? It's an aberration of our industrial society, and the lack of quality and taste is in stark contrast with the dinner served in the restaurant. Please, please scramble your eggs in a fry pan. You're in the middle of the countryside, you must be surrounded by fresh eggs...
6.7 Good
Pros: The room was clean and a great size for a family. Great location and fabulous dinner.
Cons: The bathroom would have benefitted from having a shower. Staff on arrival were welcoming but not as attentive in the dining room.

Pros: Pleasant, helpful staff, good food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy secure parking - great accessable location
Cons: No kettle in bedroom!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Sezanne a small town nearby. Pretty little town & very welcoming and the food had was very good at very reasonable price.
Cons: Quiet location with not many amenities close by, however, this is not the hotel's fault & completely fine if you have a car.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the location was lovely, easy to find.
Cons: Because we changed our booking to a Friday we did not realise that the Restaurant was closed. The owner gave us a couple of choices in nearby Sezanne which unfortunately were both fully booked although we managed to get a great takeaway Pizza with a free bottle of wine. Perhaps the restaurant not being open over the weekend could be more prominent on the booking forms.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great view from room
Cons: Beds had some stains.. Hair on the bathroom floor Roomfloor was not clean

7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly staff who told us the best restaurants to go to in town, as well as finding secure under cover parking for my Harley. Hotel itself is full of olde worlde charme, though it has definitely seen better days and is on the decline. Having said that, all this is reflected in the price, which was correct for the accommodation available.
Cons: The main light switch is so far inside the room that you stumble over a piece of furniture before reaching it! The hot water was only just over tepid, and the shower is a hand-held jobbie in the bath, with no hook to attach it to. Although the double glazing was excellent, the room was so hot that we had to sleep with the window open, which meant that we had to listen to the sound of the local youths drag racing their bangers up and down the street all night, and the clank and thump of the dustmen at stupid o'clock in the morning. Not the most restful night! The toilet flush mechanism fell apart on the second flush, but being experts on the vagaries of French bogs ( we live in France), we were able to fix this ourselves! All of this sounds like we had a dreadful time, but in fact we enjoyed our stay, in a comedy of errors sort of way. The whole place had a Fawlty Towers sort of vibe, which we found quite amusing. It's a shame, because this was clearly a grand hotel in its day, which is sadly in decline and I doubt that the owners make enough income to restore it to it's former glory.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Highly recommended!
6.7 Good
Pros: Lovely town and hotel location and style
Cons: Nowhere to eat or drink on a Sunday evening. Not even a coffee available at the hotel. The breakfast was not included in the price and we pain 16 euros extra for that which wasn’t worth the price.
7.1 Good
Cons: No room service.

3.5 Mediocre
Pros: Very little
Cons: Bed uncomfortable. Room furnishings spartan. Air con did not work. Minibar empty and disconnected. Restaurant not in the hotel but at next door property felt as if caught in a time warp with mediocre food. I could not recommend this hotel and would not stay again

Cons: No lift. Minimal bedroom storage. Room safe bolted to floor, and effectively un-useable. No tea & coffee making equipment in room.

6.3 Good
Pros: the view from our room was stunning
Cons: No hairdryer. The room was located on the 2nd floor which was up a staircase , on reaching our floor there was no landing and the door opened directly onto the staircase. All the doors in the hotel were heavily sprung and therefore very noisy when people arrived or departed. Unable to gain access to the car park on Thursday evening as the street was closed due to a fair being erected. Nobody mentioned this at all.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The quality of the bed linen, cleanliness, the setting in this charming village, the superb food. The lady owner was charming throughout. This is a rather quirky hotel whose decor is firmly 1950's. And none the worse for that.
Cons: The lady who was on duty when I arrived at 3.30pm was decidedly unwelcoming. The vast dining room, fully laid out for perhaps a hundred covers, was a bit disconcerting to a solitary diner (me for the first half hour or so, whereafter six more entered). The stairs could be a serious issue to some. They are steep, and to my room on the second floor there were 42. . I am 76, but pretty fit. They were a struggle with a heavy bag.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: it is a hotel that reminds me of hotels in France my parents brought me to when I was a kid. It is nice, but dated, but ok for a night or two. BUT, the food!!! Wow, very good indeed! Very nice staff, very good parking also.
Cons: no AC, it was warm. All else was good or ok.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The meal.
Cons: Terrible!! This place needs to be shut down and renovated.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast and Dinner were excellent. We got good hints from the hotel where to visit and about a small walks around the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: beautiful little hotel, lovely village , great location, unfortunately we arrived too late a our crossing was delayed, but Mme kept a light on for us and waited patiently outside (we were 3 hours late arriving) , what a lovely and obliging french lady , classic breakfast on the morning was robust, and good to keep us going on the way south.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a simple hotel in a lovely village in the heart of Champagne. The decor is a little tired, but the room was spotlessly clean and the hotel facilities were just what was wanted. The restaurant is spacious and the food was excellent. The choice of wines was excellent too (would have to be given the location!). If you are looking for budget accommodation from which to explore the area, then this is ideal.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Very hot period, a fan in the room would have been appreciated

5.8 Okay

Cons: Beds had some stains.. Hair on the bathroom floor Roomfloor was not clean
