The owners and the service staff were lovely and very warm. Very spacious, and the communal area is very well-equipped and has a great ambience. They allowed a late check-out as nobody was staying the next day, and gave a great amount of advice about the area. Also, the breakfast was lovely and they offered to iron my shirts for free.
On first experience, the hotel was rather freaky. A half-dressed mannequin to greet you at the front door (and when leaving). A teddy bear with a head for a foot, and another head for an arm situated directly above the bed. Creaky doors and not much light. It was quite dusty on entry. But definitely gave the room a lot of character. Will never forget it. There was hardly any wifi sadly, and the stay was made even quieter with no TV.
Great location, very friendly and helpful hosts, great breakfast. Nothing was too much for our hosts
Wonderful apartment (we were in the one with a balcony terrace) in the a great location for exploring Alfama and walking into the centre of Lisbon.
Location and design
Imagine, you contact the property on arrival at the number you find at your reservation confirmation. Your plane was delayed and you want to apologize for inconvenience and notify the host that you arrive soon. And then imagine the host screaming and cursing at you. That what happened to me. Then imagine the property has digital locks with password to get inside. Twice during our 5 days stay the password has been changed without prior notice. We have been locked out, luckily our roaming charges were not high, so we could call “the reception” for help. The room was not cleaned once during the 5 days, as well the towels where not changed and trash not taken out.
Located in a historical building the owners do know how to combine art, history and coziness into one great accommodation. Our room felt comfortable but also special. A hidden gem!
