Pros: Location was ideal for me, it was extremely expensive considering it was the off season, room was hot on one side other cold as windows were drafty, given a 7 dollar voucher for breakfast, very little on the menu for this price, I was not satisfied
Cons: see above again not a happy experience
My sister (who lives up North in Cambridge Bay) wanted to book a Executive Queen suite for us as a wedding gift, and wanted to use her Avion rewards CC to get the air miles, which she uses to fly home regularly. She was about to book online but I decided to call ahead of time as I am 8 months pregnant and wanted to avoid any conflict or issues as I wouldn't physically have the card the room would be booked on. They gave me a list of requirements which included: Photocopying the front and back of the card, as well as a letter with her signature stating exactly what she was approving to be charged on her card faxed into the hotel before they would allow it. As someone who experienced CC fraud before she was Not at all comfortable sending every piece of information a person would require to commit fraud to a hotel she was unfamiliar with. This ultimately left us both very disappointed with the booking experience. Also, when I called and spoke to the front desk agent I felt as though she thought I Myself was trying to commit some sort of fraud just for asking the questions. After discussing it with my sister and coming to the conclusion that she wouldn't be comfortable with it, I called back to ask about a cash deposit as I would be booking on my own CC which is attached to my chequing account instead of credit and from previous experience I knew it would be required, spoke to the same woman as the previous call, and again got off the phone feeling as if she thought I was trying to scam them in some way. The whole pre-booking experience was more than a little unnerving, had it not been for the pool I would have booked elsewhere.
Pros: I initially decided to go with this hotel because it had a pool and was close to the grocery store, very central location in town.
Cons: Instead of small toiletries there was a pump in the shower that was filled with cheap product that seemed watered down and smelled awful. The pool had things floating on the surface and at the bottom and the room surrounding the pool had mold.
If you can find another place stay there instead. The place was not up to my expectations for the price. Many things were dusty in the hallways and there was mold on the bathtub grout. Even lucky enough to find a hair on my pillow! I would have preferred a mint!
Pros: The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The hotel needs some work. It is old and dated and not very clean.
