Comfortable hotel with spacious rooms. Lovely view of the sea and Welsh mountains from our room. Excellent value for money on our special offer. Breakfast excellent and 2 good restaurants for evening meal. Car park not big enough for all cars when hotel is full, but plenty of street parking nearby except in high season. Bathrooms good but a bit old and tired looking.
Location Small double bed and staff not very organised - woken up at 12.30 A.M. by someone delivering a sandwich, which was for another room, then being charged for it on our bill!
Clean, well appointed rooms. Pleasant dining rooms
The hotel is in a superb position The Hotel is looking it's age and is in desperate need of updating
Staff were excellent, especially the lady in reception.
very friendlyand proffesional staff, excellent location, nice touch the art gallery and unique items for sale no issues
Wonderful room with 4 poster bed and fantastic views. Good food, nice atmosphere.
The restaurant facilities were very good The beds were not big enough and were not very comfortable
Clean, spacious and seaview, tea tray Toilet not working properly
Lovely views, nice clean rooms and excellent breakfast.
Very pleasing. Attractive, good quality and traditional furnishings. Polite and helpful service. Good (perhaps too much) food. Easy parking. Thoughtful touches e.g. flask of fresh milk in bedroom (rather than the awful small pots of artificial stuff). Inn rather than hotel so less stuffy. We were on ground floor facing the road so difficult to leave the windows open at a night (although the access was excellent for my elderly mother). The rooms facing the back would be better and these have wonderful views.
The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of perfectly cooked food of local high class produce. Our party guests who joined us for dinner loved the ambience of the dinning room, and the high quality food for dinner, service excellent. The only point that could be improved is the massive portions served up to the teenage girls who were overfaced by such large portions and so didn't enjoy the main courses. Starters and desserts were perfection. Perhaps the waiting on staff could tip off the chef when teenage girls order main courses. Only the size of the beef burger bun accompanied with too many delicious chips and a Shepherd's pie which was huge and very, very hot.
Our 'standard' rooom was spacious, clean and comfortable with a view over open fields to the mountains beyond. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
Good food.Good beer.Good location.Great view into the hills.Good access to both coast and mountains.
Easy car parking Food and beer good Really need a car to get to anywhere from here, but that was known when booking.
The food was very good The balcony was very small in the upstairs rooms and whilst we expected a double room, we had two twins joined together which was not very comfortable
Location and private terrace outside room. The privacy and quietness afforded here was much appreciated.Accessibility to, and comfort in the room we had was very good. Quality of service and food were inconsistent and, we considered, did not reflect the inn's 5 star rating Wardrobe space was very limited and further impeded by what to us was an unnecessary trouser press (An ironing board would be preferable) The advertised TV Freeview was limited to two channels which was disappointing.
We travelled as a family with a 12 year old son and 2 elderly grandparents. We were given a great mainfloor room for the grandparents and a lovely family room.Restraunt was excellent and all the staff extremely friendly and accomodating.Would definitely recommend the Groes Inn.
Lovely hotel, small and perfectly formed! We ate in the restaurant with our family who we were visiting, we all throughly enjoyed our food The only criticism would be the noise on the street at night as we had a room at the front of the hotel, however there is little the hotel could do about that.
Dining was outstanding and central Conwy location ideal.
The staff was very responsive and courteous, and the room was reasonably clean (though I did notice dust in the tea-service, which was a bit off- putting. I might suggest that instead of resetting the service after each guest leaves, you could simply remove the dishes and tea maker until the next guest *arrives*, thus ensuring fresh and clean dishes.) As a business traveler, it is important to me that I am able to stay connected to my business while I travel. Initially I selected the Castle Hotel because it seemed like a great place: extremely comfortably located, nice lodgings, and most important to me - wireless internet access. It is simply not feasible for me to try to carry out my usual business interactions at a library or a wireless cafe because I require 2-3 hours of internet connectivity per night, from my laptop, while I travel for business. That level of use at either of those locations honestly seems rude to me. I chose that Castle Hotel over several competitors in the area because of the statement that they had wireless service in the hotel. I was very dismayed to arrive and find that not only was the service down, but it had been down for several days - days before I'd made my reservation, time enough for them to have indicated somewhere on the website that the service wasn't available at the time. I felt that I had been misled. I understand that many hotels like the Castle Hotel want very much to retain their charm as historic locations, and I support that. I appreciated the candles lit hallways, the quiet Victorian lounge, and even the creaky floor had a certain appeal. However, one commodity that will become increasingly important to many travelers is some kind of internet connectivity. The staff was helpful in pointing me to a public library, from which I was at least able to communicate with some co-workers, but it wasn't quite the level of accessibility that I needed.
Nice food, friendly atmosphere. Not able to specify a twin room on the internet booking site.
Convenient Location, excellent restaurant, car park facility, friendly and helpfull staff.
Food was excellent and the hotel was full of character and very tasteful. I was here on business but it felt like I was on holiday! No bad points
It was very homely and comfortable
The food was excellent and there was a good range on the menu
Conway is a small village anchored to the water by a huge castle (King Edward I, 1272) with walls extending all the way around the village. The Castle Hotel is in the center of the village and it is the perfect location to walk the town and learn some of the haunting stories from the past. The hotel has had many sitings as has the Castle and the Plas Mawr , a Tudor Renaissance house from the 16th century. The Castle Hotel also has the best food in town. Sitting by the fire in the pub and downing a pint or two is heaven. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.
Hotel location and parking availablity
The hotel is a historic building well restored with comfort and warm ambience, good service and tasty food. no complaints
Friendly atmosphere and a relaxing short break. Thoroghly enjoyed.
We we very pleased with the welcome we received and the staff were extremely friendly and a wonderful breakfast. The bathroom although cln the bath hadnt been fitted properly and the water came out in a dribble. The evening meal was very pricey.
It was just very relaxing. Only stayed one night but felt very relaxed and stress free after our stay.
Our suite was fantastic - Very comfortable bed and gorgeous bathroom. The breakfast was nicely cooked and we enjoyed the leisure facilities, particularly sitting in the hot tub until it was dark! A w/end of luxury!
Excellent location, very peaceful, also nothing was any trouble
Nothing was too much trouble. None
Food was very well presented, with taste to match, We had a room with a hot tub, which was very private, which made it relaxing. The staff were very friendly and accomadating The room was a bit warm, not due to the room heating but other forms of heat from under our room, but not a real problem because we had french doors on to a private balcony
We stayed for one night, and having suffered the M6 on a Friday, were met with a relaxed, friendly, but attentive atmosphere. Quite traditional in feel, I noticed books, videos and games presumably for inclement weather. There were some elements of contemporary styling particularly in the area we had breakfast. I enjoyed my stay.
Pleasant surroundings, inside and out. Quiet. Informal. No shower.
facilities great. friendly helpful owners and staff.good breakfast great location. menu a bit limited and could be better value.our room could have done with a lick of paint hear and there.
Excellent food, grounds, location, and room. The owners put you at ease straightaway and the service was faultless None really. The only minor gripe was that breakfast was so early between 8-9am and on a Sunday morning it would have been good to have a bit of a lie in!
Very peaceful surroundings, friendly welcome and very comfortable rooms. An ideal place to relax and unwind.
Fantastic house with exceptional food
The friendly atmosphere. Feeling at home. Fantastic cooking. The perfect hosts. The shower was not working perfectly
Owners are fantastic, beautiful location, excellent food and very relaxing
Excellent facilities, rooms very clean and well presented. Very relaxing surroundings, with well kept gardens. Alan and Ian go out of their way to make your stay with them enjoyable. I would strongly advise to opt for the evening meal, always a varied choice and delicious. This is our third consecutive year of staying there and we will be returning.
Staff service Nothing
Service, food, and overall atmosphere was excellent. Would recommend it to anyone
Very friendly, very comfortable, excellent food and good value.
Small hotel no rush or pressure to do things at set times. relaxing short break friendly staff. good food good choice well presented and tasteful Windows noisey when open old sash windows rattled in frames most of night room overlooking main road through the town
The ease of coming and going without any problems. Parking at the back of the hotel was very usefull
After a couple of stressful weeks, we decided to get away and made the perfect choice in the Bishopsgate Hotel for a 2 night break, we had the four poster room 9 which was lovely with the most comfy bed and full plump duck down feather pillows, a great meal in their restaurant followed on the 2nd night which was superb, £20.95 for three excellent courses. All in all it was a great stay and will go again. Thanks to all the most friendly staff as well for whom nothing was too much trouble. With a decanter of sherry and 2 glasses in the room, what is there not to like !!!
We loved the cosy feel, our very comfortable and pretty room and friendly, helpful staff. Our dogs were also welcome and we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Food was also excellent. Nothing- we could not fault it.
Very helpful and friendly staff, especially owner. Food was fantastic, and there was no problem at all with catering for my dietary problems. Very helpful when we needed access to the room to change for an event, at a time when housekeeping would normally have been in there. Coffee could definitely be better (strange as it has a Rosette and the food was great). Room a little small but we only booked a standard. Nowhere to dry the towels and they weren't changed every day,
Friendly staff & warm welcome. Room all ready and table available in restuarant if required Will stay again
position, food, general atmosphere one twin bed was wobbely
Excellent location, nice warm room, excellent Breakfast. Staff and management were very friendly and did all they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Would certainly recommend.
Reasonably spacious and comfortable room, food is of good standard but quite expensive for what it is. Good wine list, sensibly priced. No
Restaurant food excellent, both evening meal and breakfast.
The staff were veery friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome I felt the room was slightly over priced for the level of amenities
The hotel had a really friendly owner and staff, a great breakfast, a large bed in the room, and seemed good value for money
Friendly staff and excellent service Nothing
evening meal and breakfast were very good
Honest friendly service from all the staff
The attentiveness of the staff and their obvious desire to attend to your requirements and requests especially in the restaurant.
All the hotel staff were very welcoming and provided efficient service. After the meal we had the first evening, we were very impressed and had the evening meal on the two remaining nights of our stay. It is in a good position for exploring places on the coast and inland.
breakfast was good room felt damp and like a chalet
Friendly attitude and good food A little overpriced - but if the market can stand it . . . .
Friendly welcome. Comfortable, clean room. Lovely, tasty food. Cosy bar area with wood-burning fire. Efficient service. Beautiful surroundings.
