Friendly atmosphere Good food
All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent food - good choice for breakfast and evening meals were great with generous portions! At £70 for the double room I felt it was a bit expensive. It was the Easter bank hol but I wouldn't expect to pay that much on non bank hol weekends.
I've stayed in a number of establishments in the Bangor area during the past 3 years while visiting my son at university, most of which have been a dissappointment. However I am pleased to have found the Abbeyfield which is clean, comfortable, convenient, has good parking facilities, provides a warm welcome, and the breakfast is great. Ideal for anyone wanting to stay in the Bangor area who is looking for good value for money.
Good value for money Room 7 is a little noisy - people leaving the public lounge are talking and sound insulation isn't good
Staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel could be charming if a little effort was taken with the rooms. Breakfast was good. Close enough to railway that the passing trains were felt in the rooms.
Nice bar, good food, good staff, free fast Wifi In need of update. Shredded/torn towels; worn mattress; warped doors; screeching tv; variable wireless signal. And the trains, but that goes without saying!
Good value £75 for a family room with breakfast. Excellent food in the pub, the Pie is exceptional. Basic room, noise from railway and heat pump on outside wall. Clean but in need of sprucing up.
Older style hotel, dated rooms, very small. Isolated but next to busy train line. Not really very good value for money. Rail noise. Dated decor.
very clean rooms
Friendly and convenient N/A
Swimming pool and gym Food at the spa was poor
Nice hotel, nice grounds Very difficult to find - sign posting on roads needs to be improved! Expensive and the room I was given was smaller than I would have liked
Relaxed atmosphere within a spectacular countryside estate setting.
The hotel is great. The room was clean with huge bath. The place is very quiet. The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful.
The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful - particuliry in the clock house resteraunt. The hotel had some very good facilities and is in a peaceful location. The hotel in very old fashoined in parts. The reception area and old dining rooms might be trying to give the impression of a traditional old country house but I just found this to be actually just a bit sort of dark and cold. Arriving at 3.30 pm, an hour and a half after the possible check in time - the rooms were not ready - not particularily good - although the staff were apologetic.
Stunning location, food, facilities, what more can I say. Lots if I had the space.
Spa food better value than hotel and better opening hours cost of hotel food
Quiet, comfortable room. Very comfortable, peaceful and attractive public rooms Nothing
Nice setting, lots of character, we were well looked after Unable to get access to Spa treatments once we'd checked in (need to book well in advance)
We were upgraded to a four poster on arrival with no extra cost incurred and the food and service in the restaurant and clock tower was fantastic. The view from our bedroom window could have been better and the toilet flush did not work very well.
Very helpful, efficient and friendly staff. Very comfortable rooms. Great food. Not applicable.
absolutely excellent, staff very friendly couldnt do enough for you, would definately stay her again Nothing
The staff were very helpful and accomodated our problem with the tv not working in our initial room and moved us to a bigger, better room room where the tv WAS working. Did not cater for vegetarians at breakfast ie no veggie sausages etc and we had mentioned we were vegetarians when we made the booking
Very warm friendly staff, good menu in the restaurant with good size portions, good value for money, good location In need of some refurbishment and decoration, although menu was extensive the food did not quite live up to expectation.
The room was nicely decorated, bathroom was bright and clean with lovely fluffy new towels. The receptionist was very friendly, but we found the staff at breakfast very grumpy, unfriendly and tired looking. Breakfast was very poor: hardly any plates left, bowl of fruit not refilled, nearly empty bowls and limited choice. The fried eggs had been sitting there for quite some time, even though we were well withing the allocated time for Breakfast. It doesn't take much to give guests a smile at Breakfast, make them fresh tea or coffee and to fry them an egg there and then. And it would greastly benefit the atmosphere in the Breakfast room.
Handy for an overnight stay for the ferry the following morning. The early start and didn't have time for breakfast.
Very Pleasant location and building, friendly and helpful staff, well presented room
the full welsh breakfast was subtantial and presented very well the bathroom was dated
Staff service was excellent and the politeness and helpfulness of staff was great, the restaurant was very impressive and modern. The lounge bar was very inviting and cosy, and the food was consistently exquisite from breakfast to our evening meal. Overall great value for money. The room was very small, and the decor leading upto rooms (I.e the blue walls etc.) was quite out-of-date.
Pleasant staff - rooms a little small but clean. Good breakfast. Mattress a little old !
Clean, well appointed rooms. Pleasant dining rooms
Comfortable hotel with spacious rooms. Lovely view of the sea and Welsh mountains from our room. Excellent value for money on our special offer. Breakfast excellent and 2 good restaurants for evening meal. Car park not big enough for all cars when hotel is full, but plenty of street parking nearby except in high season. Bathrooms good but a bit old and tired looking.
The restaurant facilities were very good The beds were not big enough and were not very comfortable
Wonderful room with 4 poster bed and fantastic views. Good food, nice atmosphere.
Lovely views, nice clean rooms and excellent breakfast.
Staff were excellent, especially the lady in reception.
very friendlyand proffesional staff, excellent location, nice touch the art gallery and unique items for sale no issues
Clean, spacious and seaview, tea tray Toilet not working properly
The hotel is in a superb position The Hotel is looking it's age and is in desperate need of updating
Location Small double bed and staff not very organised - woken up at 12.30 A.M. by someone delivering a sandwich, which was for another room, then being charged for it on our bill!
Very helpful and friendly staff, especially owner. Food was fantastic, and there was no problem at all with catering for my dietary problems. Very helpful when we needed access to the room to change for an event, at a time when housekeeping would normally have been in there. Coffee could definitely be better (strange as it has a Rosette and the food was great). Room a little small but we only booked a standard. Nowhere to dry the towels and they weren't changed every day,
Excellent location, nice warm room, excellent Breakfast. Staff and management were very friendly and did all they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Would certainly recommend.
The ease of coming and going without any problems. Parking at the back of the hotel was very usefull
We loved the cosy feel, our very comfortable and pretty room and friendly, helpful staff. Our dogs were also welcome and we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Food was also excellent. Nothing- we could not fault it.
position, food, general atmosphere one twin bed was wobbely
Small hotel no rush or pressure to do things at set times. relaxing short break friendly staff. good food good choice well presented and tasteful Windows noisey when open old sash windows rattled in frames most of night room overlooking main road through the town
Reasonably spacious and comfortable room, food is of good standard but quite expensive for what it is. Good wine list, sensibly priced. No
Restaurant food excellent, both evening meal and breakfast.
After a couple of stressful weeks, we decided to get away and made the perfect choice in the Bishopsgate Hotel for a 2 night break, we had the four poster room 9 which was lovely with the most comfy bed and full plump duck down feather pillows, a great meal in their restaurant followed on the 2nd night which was superb, £20.95 for three excellent courses. All in all it was a great stay and will go again. Thanks to all the most friendly staff as well for whom nothing was too much trouble. With a decanter of sherry and 2 glasses in the room, what is there not to like !!!
Friendly staff & warm welcome. Room all ready and table available in restuarant if required Will stay again
Helpful friendly staff, good restaurant, off street parking.
The room was spacious and newly refurbished, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The dining room was large, cold and a bit old fashionned and breakfast would have been even nicer with help yourself cereal/fruit/yoghurt, not just boxes or sachets of cereal.
Location was convenient for our needs, and food was very good Lack of heating in bathroom and single glazing meant road works starting outside the hotel at 7.30 am on Sunday morning was annoying
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious. The bar was lovely. Convenient WiFi thoughout. The heating was broken at the time; although the provided radiator did a good job heating the room, the bathroom was still freezing. The bathroom was also only half painted and in need of refurbishment. Still perfectly functional, however.
Due to a family emergency I was unable to stay more than 1 hour at the hotel but the staff where helpful and friendly I would have no problem with staying at the hotel again or recommending it to friends and family
The friendly service, very attentive. The food was excellent. We sent our compliments to the chef whilst we were there The bed was too hard. I did not sleep very well at all.
the staff were fantastic and went out of the way to make us feel welcome i would recommend this hotel
central to town, handy for any shopping , round the corner from a superstore, friendly staff.
Beautiful room, well furnished, spacious, quality bathroom fittings. Rooms are in a courtyard behind the main pub/hotel building. Convenient location in middle of town with parking spaces directly outside rooms. We didn't use the restaurant for dinner or breakfast. Clock tower outside front of hotel chimes every 15 minutes throughout the night. Crazy idea! Pub is a bit of a downbeat local.
lovely setting; staff were genuinely kind and friendly. Parking was a problem. The lot was double-parked and we ended up in a public lot nearby. Also, the ground floor rooms were subject to a lot of overhead conversations, some regarding the double-parking situation!
a little gem,but dont tell anyone,or they will all go
Owners very friendly and helpful.
The advertised Internet connection did not work.
position difficult to find
Really attractive buildings and comfortable rooms. Excellent location for access to Holyhead Ferry. Warm anda welcoming. Sat nav offers complicated route especially in bad weather. Call hotel for directions.
Rural location, very close to A55 and ammenities to local village not too far away.Proprietors allways on hand and wellcoming.
I chose it for its proximity to the Anglesey Race Circuit which is only 10 minutes away. It was warm and comfortable
A lovely building. Each member of staff was charming and we loved the cosy bar/lounge area for meeting before dinner and drinks after. The evening meal was delicious in a pleasant but not over decorated dinind room. Good choice for breakfast. Disappointed that even on a Sunday morning breakfast was until only 9 o'clock - having eaten a lovely meal the previous evening I would have preferred to wait a minimum of another half hour. The sloping roof in the bathroom was pretty but meant that there was no possibility of standing up for a shower in the bath and the bath was narrow with no bar or grip so I would have felt it a bit unsafe. Couldn't find a shaver socket
everything was good,pleasant staff,great location
Excellent venue close to the university.Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was a little small.
Very new; clean; pleasant location; relatively up-market accomodation in town with little choice. Amateurish staff; atmosphere of superior student accomodation; canteen style eating facilities.
A very smart and tidy hotel with fantastic views
The bedrooms were amazingly clean and comfortable: they were also decorated in a nice muted fashion. The staff were very professional. We liked everything!
Since I am a prospectus student to Bangor University, I got all the information I needed by just few foot steps away from me. No indoor swimming pool.
Reception staff very friendly (evening). Accommodating restaurant manager re room service and late dinner request. Room clean and comfortable, nice bathroom Very inefficient checkin process. And although I was offered a packed breakfast to be collected at 6.45 as I was leaving early to catch a train to London, the staff on reception in the morning seemed to have no knowledge of it, and no concept of urgency - I eventually had to abandon it and left at 6.55 still without breakfast and without officially checking out.
Flexibility with late food and check out. None.
The staff were very professional and friendly. The room was a bit small. Perhaps there could have been two pillows for each person in the room.
Efficient, with friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room, pleasant views, convenient location.
