My wife and myself enjoyed a relaxing spa and then a wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant. The hotel facalities are excellent. Rooms are nice without going over the top. Bar Prices are good value. If the hotel can maintain these prices it will do very well.
The location was lovely. I haad a lovely walk along the canal in the Autumn sunshine One of my guests in another room changed room as the room had apparently been used, also another guest had used towels when they checked in.
The room was very comfortable with beautiful views over the canal and the countryside. The spa was superb with a huge range of treatments on offer and helpful friendly staff. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant with local ingredients. Although the food was excellent, the restaurant staff did not seem well trained, eg they did not return with requested items, nor did they ask or anticipate whether anything was needed.
good food bath room a little small
The toilet seat had broken,we didn't like to complain!!also no staff when we went to the bar near the reception twice!!!once on our arrival then around 5 30 pm!!!it would be nice to have a pint in the hotel instead of going across the court yard!!!we stay here often!!!
The views from the window over the Llangollen Canal were nice. Staff friendly. Found it hard to get to grips with the air conditioning. Having manually turned it off it came on again automatically.
Canal-side setting, attractive and interesting
Room comfort, Leisure facilities and view from room N/A
Everything. Air conditioning unit just a little too loud.
Very nice indeed We would have like to have dined in the bridge rest# rather than in the bar
Great location, right in the centre of Llangollen with fab view of the river. My room was nicely decorated, spacious and warm. Very pleasant dining room and breakfast was good. Private parking area that was locked at night. Some parts of the hotel are still shabby, needing refurbishing.
Views and spacious room No lift!! Lots of stairs to everything. Very slippy bathroom floor
Only problem was the use of non-fair-trade coffee in the room. Please don't use nestle products!
Lovely room overlooking the river.
It was an attractive old and historic hotel. The hotel staff were courteous, helpful and friendly. The rooms were nicely decorated and the bathroom had been modernised. The bedroom was nicely warm due to a fan heater being provided. It was a cold day/night and the public areas of the hotel were extremely cold, particularly the dining room and the passageways - all the radiators were turned off. The shower did not work which I did mention in the morning and they were very apologetic.
The location of the hotel was fantastic, the rooms clean and very comfortable and staff excellent
The view over the River Dee was stunning! A pleasure to wake up to. The staff were lovely and really helpful, and the hotel was clean, well kept and full of charm. My only comment would be to suggest double glazing for the windows for energy saving purposes.
friendly staff Some parts need redecoration
Hearing the sound of the river from the bedroom was a real treat. I felt the bathroom could have been improved by new flooring, the general appearance of the room was good but this one point did spoil the otherall pleasure.
The rooms ver lovely and clean and the staff very accomodating
Friendly, clean, good food and service and value for money. They also serve Bass in the bar. No
Stay was dissapointing, expectation was high with a rate of £94.50 ! Rooms are very sad and tired, bathroom was poor, shower thermostat was broken. Hotel needs several thousand £ spent to bring it up to a comfortable standard. Evening meal was excellent and staff were good.
Very friendly, relaxed hotel, food reasonable. Breakfast service excellent. TV was set as Radio, could not change to TV.
Rooms were clean and staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was good with plenty to eat. I would definately stay again.
The staff members were all very friendly, the food was very good with an interesting menu, and the quaintness of the town and the hotel made for a very fun stay!
friendly, small, good value, tv services could be better
Excellent service and super breakfast. Comfortable clean rooms beautifully decorated. The hotel could do with a lift as my elderly mother struggled to get up to the third floor.
It was convenient desk staff were helpful. No mini bar, en-suit far too small, Table light didn't work, TV didn't work properly, window had to be fully open or closed; unless propped up with bottle. No bar or snacks mid afternoon. I was only there one night so didn't bother; too costly
Excellent location, in town centre and close to countryside. Comfortable bar/lounge area. The room (216) was quite small and very hot. Radiator valve was very stiff to operate. Even when closed completely the room was hot. Very little drawer space in the room for clothes, only a cupboard with hangers. Bar prices...£3.80 for a glass of wine?
It was conveniently located and had a relaxing atmosphere. As above re leisure centre also some of the furnishings are looking tired!
The staff were very friendly & polite. The food was of excellent quality. Nothing
hotel in good position, stayed in the laura ashley suite, nice room, very clean and an excellent breakfast, thanks for a lovely stay. nothing
The friendly service
An old but comfortable hotel that provided just what a traveller needed for a short stay, neat, tidy and well staffed.
very clean godd food to remote
It was a lovely country hotel, not commercialised, lovely intimate bar area with open fire and lovely food.
The room we had was spacious, the view was excellent. Lots of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers! Needed re-decorating and bathroom needed a definite upgrade.Nice to meet locals in the bar and the bar food was very good. The hotel generally looked 'tired' but as I understand, the current owners have only been in for a few months, so maybe this is understandable. Restaurant food not as nice as bar food, but was more expensive! All staff very pleasant, but some very young and inexperienced. Some 'in-house training' would be useful?
Very pleasant hotel in picturesque area . Good breakfast and bar food . Good size car park . Comfortable rooms and good guests lounge . Would recommend for walking or relaxation break Some of the decor slightly dated .
The Hotel was Dirty & the approach to the Hotel said so, the Hotel needs updating £150 is all that it takes to update the room and make them look presentable, the Hotel needs to get rid of all the stuffed animals and money needs spending on the decor
The food at this place is spectacular. When people find out about this hidden gem it will go nuts. Try the restaurant.
We were able to get a family room with separate bedrooms.
Lovely hotel good food nice staff and lovely open fire in bar.breakfast good and served early for us to leave for appointmentno Nothing not to like.
Very freindly staff Room in need of re-decoration, wallpaper peeling, spa bath in poor condition.
Peace & quiet! Food was excellent! The fact that pets are allowed in all rooms! (There were dog hairs in our carpet)
Owners were welcoming and breakfast was good. Room was small and not cleaned adequately. The shower tray needed sealing, the sink had a crack down it and the bathroom shelf, tea tray and radiators had not been cleaned for a long time. Milk was off on tea tray. Poor attention to detail but could be lovely.
The hospitality of the hotel was 5 Star and the service was excellent.
Pleasant owners. Good breakfast Excellent shower Clean Poor decoration - lots of apparently part finished jobs Strong smell of damp in corridor outside our room Advertised as a hotel when it is a guest house No acces to the bar at 10.20 Heating on for a limited period of time.
The friendly service and warm welcome. The room was quiet, away from the road and traffic noise. No.
Friendly welcoming staff and good food Room a bit tired and no ventilation in the internal en suite.
The staff were very friendly, and we all felt very wecome, however we only stayed over night. If anything it was a little bit cold in the sitting room and bedrooms.
The friendly staff and owners and the lovely hospitality that we were given. Nothing at all
easy access from the A%. cleanliness of room and willingness of the Staff to show me how the television worked
Convenient position, friendly service, good food, value for money
a very pleasant ambience. We prefer to have a flexible shower, rather than a fixed showerhead. Coffee was a bit weak. This may seem nit-picking.
Friendly staff and neat attractive building. Cosy bar. Good facilities. Very good starting point for anyone wanting to explore that part of Wales. Better than many other 3 star hotels we have seen. The decor could be freshened up - black doors spoil the rooms.
We had a wonderful weekend, the staff were friendly the room was clean and the spa was great.
Friendly staff, ideal location
Excellent location and good food The standard rooms, which we were in, are rather tired. The welcome book advises they're to be refurbished in early 2008.
Convenient - comfortable food was very good It was explained when we arrived that the television signal was paying up, and that we would have problems with some channels - we were told that an engineer would be putting it right that afternoon but no improvement was seen - we stayed at this hotel approx a year ago and had the same problem, coincidence or not?
how helpfull the staff were at the hotel and how clean and comfy the whole stay was oh and the price was fairly reasonable.
Excellent Staff. Most helpful and obliging.Ambiance. Good Value. No
The Spa facilities The decor was shabby and could do with a lick of paint updating
Clean spacious and well facilitated room. Free WiFi availability and ease of connection made by business trip much easier. Nothing to suggest.
Showering facility totally inadequate Water supply in bedroom affected by use of water in adjacent rooms Unfriendly welcome - no information re dining facilites Bar staff lacking basic knowledge overall a bit grubby and dismal No information in bedroom re hotel facilities
In the middle of town good food river view from bedroom
Food was very good, service at breakfast was very good, room very clean and comfortable, accessibility very good, Room cold on arrival, reception staff on arrival was a little despondent - greatly improved service on checking out (different staff)
Our room was good and beds comfortable. Breakfast on first day (self service) was not good. Dried up black pudding sitting on a hotplate, congealed beans and fried eggs likewise. Staff in dining room not very interested. Obtaining food in the evening was a struggle as there was one person serving bar, taking food orders and waitressing. Food took half an hour to arrive and when it did was pretty poor. Breakfast second day was better as food was cooked to order so at least the eggs were runny, but no real alternatives available and lacking in quality.
Lovely views from room and great breakfast None
Staff very helpful. Pleasant. Breakfast was fantastic! Lovely room, little cold on arrival, something found under the bed left by previous clients, headboard needed cleaning but.... Item disposed of from bed and staff apologised, brought extra heater to room. A lovely hotel, super super friendly staff. Bit chilly in room to start with but excellent value for money.
The Friday and Saturday evening entertainment where very welcomed, as my friend and I enjoyed socialising in other establishments before returning to our hotel to settle in and enjoy the entertainment before going to bed. For this reason we will return to the hand on our next visit to Llangollen. The toilet bowl was soiled from the previous residents which was off putting to both my friend and myself. (in fact cleaned our self) Apart from that we enjoyed the facilities.
This hotel has a lovely welcoming atmosphere when we arrived and throughout our stay, great music on Friday nights with a resident organist/keyboard player and the breakfast was absolutely delicious....and plenty of it too. Our room was clean, quite large and had lovely views over the river. The bedroom & en-suite bathroom had been decorated to quite a high standard with plenty of towels etc. The only bad point we picked up on was that the shower in the en- suite bathroom was not working properly and we had to use the bath instead.....which is fine of course....but a shower is great to wake you up!
The people singing with the organ on the Friday evening Would ask for a room not above the bar
Enjoyed my stay.
Friendly and informal yet offering excellent service . Nothing
Beautifully decorated with lots of little extras like books to read and dvd's to watch. Georgeous lounge and stunning views. Our room was enormous with huge comfy bed. The owners cant do enough for you. Would definitely recommend this for a relaxing break in beautiful countryside.
Comfortable We were charged full price for the children
we enjoyed our stay, peace full break, lovely room, over looking the valley. evening meal was very nice, our second time stay,
Very friendly and a home from home. Possibly would not suit everyone but it was a lovely small and comfortable hotel. Nothing
The warm and cheerful welcome and general helpfulness and comfort, and especially the way that my dog was also welcome. No
Large room with excellent on-suite. Good views, short walk to town. Within easy reach of the uk White Water Rafting centre. Interesting entrance. Note it can not be turned into when travelling west and is a narrow steep incline so keep an eye out.
Very comfortable room, lovely breakfast, friendly owner, quiet location great for walks, not too far from Bala for watersports & Snowdon (which is why we went), very easy to get to from London.
although room was very clean decor was "dated"
Good ambience, lovely setting excellent breakfast. attendance to detail Good points also caused bad. In being an old charming house, our room in particular was a bit inconnvenient - bedside light difficult to reach, no bedside table, beams for bumping. Also drive and parking could be a problem
The breakfast, and views from the room
Supberb shower after 36 holes of golf! Menu very good and all meals (4) cooked to perfection. Didn't go hungry! No
Staff were very good Nothing
excellent breakfast included in room price & use of spa at hotel in Llangollen double bed was small & not very comfortable
location-peaceful. good walking trails near the hotel. good views from the breakfast hall. good breakfast selection. helpful and cheerful staff. Ample parking space. I found the the room and the double bed to be a bit small. Not good TV reception.
Waiting and bar staff were very pleasant and extermely helpful. Food was excellent.
The location was amazing and the hotel was very pictoresque too. The room we had was very coz and had a spa bath which was an ideal stay for a couple The fact that the heating went off during the night gave us a cold room until breakfast time
Tracy on reception was extemely helpful and patient in helping me work out a future booking for my elderly parents.Hotel was spotlessly clean.Bar meals were excellent and good value. We upgraded to a suite which was lovely.Scenic setting which is quiet and relaxing. The beautiful fire places cry out for real fires which would create a more welcoming atmosphere. The absence of these was a real disappointment for us especially as the hotel advertises them as a feature. Real fires would provide a memorable addition to this hotel.
Everything really good, lovely little country house. Great value for money.
location food & friendly staff
