10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners, making your stay as comfortable as possible and giving tips. Cute cottage with access to a fully equipped, clean kitchen which was very comfortable. Unfortunately weather was not so good during our stay so we weren’t able to use then boats. Overall a great stay!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and nice Guesthouse owners. Everything is very clean, nicely arranged, done with passion and love. We will definitely come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best Hotel ever. Best comfort and clean Best owner Best food (please, book breakfast and dinner, you will love it) Best environment Best Sauna Best cycling (e bike option too!)
Cons: Just in case you are traveling by bus check first your options to get there and schedules. Taxi from Savonlinna (the nearest town) is about 35 euros.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hours for breakfast were long and the food was varied and delicious. The rooms, which resembled little cottages, were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and caring. Lots of available activities on the premises, but the weather stopped us from enjoying them. I would book again. On a neutral note: The B&B is located in the countryside. It's easy to get there by car. It was very quiet and relaxing, which was what we were looking for, but if we hadn't had a car, it would have been harder to get there.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host and hostess were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. They deserve special mention. The breakfast was excellent. I would recommend this hotel without reservation!
Cons: The lake behind the property was beautiful and having a room on the lake would have been lovely. That said, we arrived late and were bound to leave fairly early so the added cost would not have been economical given our circumstances.

7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is a lovely historical house. We had a little apartment with two bedrooms and a very well equipped kitchen. Parking spot's available for free. Very nice host. There is a supermarket very close. We stopped in Kerimäki just to visit the Linnansaari National Park. The city doesn’t offer much, but there’s the biggest wooden church of Finland and also a nice trail that goes around the lake. Be aware that all extras, like the sauna, have a cost.
Cons: All extras, like the sauna, have an extra cost. This is an historical wooden building, personally I found it charming, but be aware that it can be noisy depending on your neighbors!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our 2-bedroom apartment was clearly recently renovated, with an own kitchen fully equipped. Everything very nice and clean. Very friendly hosts.
Cons: Note that the place doesn't offer any restaurant etc services - nevertheless, there are cafes and shops very close in case you did forget your breakfast ingredients... :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house has been renovated recently, everything looks fresh and nice. Common kitchen is equipped with all necessary facilities. The family couple who run the place are friendly and welcoming. The wooden church (main landmark of Kerimaki) is right in front of the house. Also, there is a supermarket and a lake in walking distance.
Cons: Nothing really.

There was a lovely footpath right outside that takes you Past the castle and into the town, very scenic walk. Also breakfast was very nice, in the main house which was nice to be inside of a real Finnish house. It was a generous spread of fruit, egg, hams, cheese, bread, cereal, sweets/cake. 9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing welcome; shown room but then also invited to use a special historically furnished sitting room as per 100 years ago. The manor house grounds were brilliant; interesting and naturally relaxing with a lake, waterwheel, old sauna, grass, flowers, gazebo etc. There was even an open barn with a good quality table tennis table for use. The museum and art gallery on site were extensive and worth a visit (included). The breakfast was vast; impossible to try everything from boiled egg to salad and meats, different breads, spreads, yogurt, sweet pastries and more! How for only 5 Euros ? Easy visit to Punkaharju area and not too far from Savonlinna and the castle.
Cons: Thin curtains and lights outside which stayed on through the night. Darkness in room for sleep impossible without further window cover. Unfortunately on our second night two young couples stayed in the room next door and went to bed after 2am with conversation and music on their patio! Also their smoke blew into our room in spite of there being a 'no smoking near the house' rule. Hopefully not a general occurrence.
7.5 Good
Cons: Bicycle and Museum
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was surprisingly roomy, with the main room and a smaller room with the bathroom. Very comfortable with a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker and dishware. Bathroom was clean and had a heated floor. There was a double bed in the main room and a bunk bed in the smaller room. Premises were really idyllic and picturesque, with a small pond and an old water wheel.
Cons: Bathroom sink was really small, but appropriate considering the limited size of the bathroom.

Pros: Manager, Pia, went way.beyond normal to take care of my needs, from upgrading my room, taking my wash out of washer and hanging out to dry when I mistimed the cycle and had to go out for an evening engagement, and various other little kindnesses. First class lady!!

Pros: Quiet detached place, close to Kerimäki and not very far from Savonlinna or Punkaharju. Nice welcoming host. The room is clean and well equipped.
Cons: The neighbors next door didn't sleep in the night for some reason. And neither did we, because everything is audible throughout the building. If you're looking for sightseeing or any activities, be ready to drive some kilometers.

Pros: We were the only guests at the day of our stay so we had the whole house at our disposal, and it was great! The house has just been renovated, everything is super fresh and super clean. The area is quiet and continental breakfast is a bonus. It's a pity that we stayed here only for one night...

Pros: First of all, the location and view are amazing. One may easily reach such sights as Olavinlinna Castle and beautiful quay by foot, not to mention the variety of restaurants and shops in Olavinkatu, just behind the corner. My family and I are completely satisfied with the design of the room and organization of breakfasts. Even though we stayed during the weekend, there was no noise or disturbance. Staff are very kind and helpful, and rooms are always kept clean.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable for an overnight stay. The hotel is located on a lake in the forest and could best be described as a resort where people go to enjoy the outdoors and possibly boating and other water activities. We were on a trip from Oulu to Helsinki and stopped at the Finnish Forestry Museum which is nearby the hotel. The owner met us when we arrived and guided us to a cafe for dinner. The breakfast was excellent and, in a word, never-ending. We were the only guests having breakfast but there was enough food for many more ... right down to dessert!!
Cons: It is off the beaten track and a bit difficult to find although our GPS found it but it is a resort on a lake so it wasn't a negative factor.

6.3 Good
Pros: Nice place to stay overnight
Cons: The owner charged us 18 euro for bed linens - not fair. Booking later refunded the charges. The place is rather far from the beach - it's definitely not a beach property. The kitchen stowe didn't work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a good Finnish standard with versatility of choice from oatmeal porridge to eggs and ham, bread and CARELIAN PIES. The host and the hostess were friendly and taking good care of their guests wellbeing. We were lucky to get the last room available for the second night. The sauna by the lake and swimming was a great bonus for a Saturday evening. The location is perfect in between Punkaharju Ridge, Kerimäki and Savonlinna. Plus sweet dreams in a log villa room!
Cons: Nothing to say!
6.8 Good
Pros: Cottage nice and cosy Sauna very nice! Own beach across the street ca 100m from cottage, which unfortunately we could not use because of bad weather

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel with a view of the lake and castle. Friendly and helpful owner and staff. We booked a double room but actually it was a 1 bed apartment which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was continents style with local produce and relatively international for Finland. Recommended.
Cons: Only a small gripe, the sink in the bathroom is tiny.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: location, room design, view, breakfast were amazing...will have to come next time
6.8 Good
Cons: Pressure to declare arrival times. For a hotel costing 160 Euro with parking, staff should be available during normal check in hours without having to call 'if later than 5 pm'. The Tavis hotel is an annexe of the Lossiranta Lodge, 300 metres away. but you have to check in at Lossiranta. For breakfast you have to walk, or drive, the 300 metres to Lossiranta. The parking for which 15 Euro was charged turned out to be on a bit of land in front of the hotel. This really was a bit of an exaggeration - when committing to 15 Euros for parking when booking one expected at least a garage in a secure place. When paying the hotel bill I was told by the owner that I couldn't have a paper receipt, not even a credit card slip, in order to protect the environment. When the receipt arrived by E mail it was written in Finnish. The total was correct , but the break-out of the charge was not clear. In a country where English is spoken with wonderful fluency everywhere this was puzzling.

Overview Reviews
When you stay at this cottage in Savonlinna, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Lusto Finnish Forest Museum. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location near the lake, typical red wooden house.
Cons: Noise of the road across the bridge. Sauna takes very long to heat up and is accessible through the toilet.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our cottage was face to the lake.View was excellent. There are several hiking courses. We fully enjoyed forests and lakes in Finland. The hotel is located near the railway station.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Easy Check In, Amazing view on the lake, Spacious cabin
Cons: The fire place was not working correctly, which caused the fire alarms a few times
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great cottage for a bunch of people being on the road!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Right next to Retretti train station. Beautiful cabin with our own private sauna. 5 min walk to lovely walking trails through the scenic Punkaharju area which had info boards in English.
Cons: If using using public transport plan as looked like only one train every 3 hours on weekend but worked fine for us and only 20mins to Savonlinna by train if want a day trip.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Best place for the family holidays. Best location and great cottage with all you need inside
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quite, despite numerous neighbor cottages. Magnificent lake views, all conditions for cross-country skiing and skating. Equipment rental is close to cottages which is very handy (though, the choice is a bit limited: for example, there was no boots for skate skiing, only for classic). Cottage is spacious and cozy, with a nice view, looks recently renovated.
Cons: Floors were a bit sticky, as if somebody spilled the beer on them and didn't tidy up well enough. Also, the only frying pan was in really bad condition, attempt to make french toast ended in a long scrubbing it off the surface. Fireplace location (in the separate entry hall near the sauna) seemed a bit odd, we expected it in the main guest area, but it probably makes more sense in summer than in winter. It would be better if there were special conditions for waste sorting (separate garbage cans under the sink, for example).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and scenic place to stay. There is lot of space in and around the cottages for kids to play. Personal grill is a great addition to all the facilities. There is also a water park for kids about 100m away (open during summers only). All in all, total value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private sauna, perfect location and close to a lake

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean place. Hospitality! Pets welcome. Retro Style interiors - the colours made me happy! Excellent place to stay over in a low budget! Parking place with heater plugs. (That was nice while -20 degrees.) Large and safe ground for children to play.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked peaceful atmosphere, rooms with enough space and nice & helpful hosts.
Cons: Location was too far from the city center.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely warm and friendly welcome, excellent location - easy distance to shops, restaurants and Savonlinna. Provided toys including bikes for visitors, which was lovely. Outdoor grill for use and easy parking.
Cons: Some aspects were a bit dated. Fully functional and absolutely clean, though, so not a problem.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Two rooms, spacious. Lawn for the dog. Free parking. Access to swimming in lake. Access to washing machine. Offer to use boat. Clean sheets and good towels. Comfortable beds. Attractive and apparently safe neighborhood. Owner offered to assist via phone.
Cons: Fresher air in apartment upon arrival. No stopper in kitchen or bathroom sink. Owner not reliably available in the morning and in the evening.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and picked us up from the train station (for a transfer fee). The cabin was beautiful inside and had everything you might need.
Cons: Only word of warning if coming by public transport the bus stop is only a few minutes walk but on the weekend there only seemed to be a bus every 1.5 hours. Although think there are more during the week.

Cons: Walls in rooms are so thing, even if there were 3 of us it was very noisy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is large and the host left three bedrooms open even we have only two. So we slept in two rooms which is not expected. This place is more suitable for family to stay more days.

7.0 Good
Pros: Though It's Near the Savonlinna Centre, It Is Calm and Relaxing. The View Can Be Endearing If One Is In a Pensive Mood. What's More, the Beautiful and Picturesque Olavenlinna Castle Is Quite Close, Within a Walking Distance From the Villa. The Local Open Air Market Is Even Closer.
Cons: The Check-In Was Terrible, As the Location From Which to Pick up the Keys Is Far From the "Villa". The Street In Which They are Situated, Mainly the Check-In Place, Are Very Confusing. Not That They are Remote, But the Streets and the Numbers Are Bothersome. However, i Must Say That the Owner Was Likeable and Atypical. Though It is Clear That Hosting Is Not Very High In His Priorities Or Business Affairs. It Takes a Rather Far Back Seat.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was nice, refreshments in the room was great. There are only two rooms for stay in this accomodation and its above the long stairs, but we were travelling light so it was no problem. the castle is about 15 minute walk away and you go by the see and harbor, so its pleasant walk without crossing the car streets.
Cons: We were quite confused about the breakfast, we only found out that its in different bulding (different hotel) by reading the brochure in the apartment - so we tried it in the morning, but the doors were locked and our keys didnt match. But luckily for us, receptionist there heared us trying the door and opened for us. We almost missed the breakfast because of that
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room, quiet at night and friendly staff. It would have been helpful to know that the keys must be collected from a different building in advance though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet room with a lake view, walking distance to town and free parking. The room is located in a small local brewery building. A bottle of freshly brewed craft beer is a great addition to your stay.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Clean room, nice view
Cons: Nowhere mentioned where to pick up the keys (nearby bar, had to walk back in the freezing cold), no staff at the property, breakfast was stale shop sandwiches and brown bananas. Felt more like a hostel than a b&b.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was awesome!
Cons: The breakfast was a slight disappointment and i missed the toilet brush :(

Pros: It is a great hotel, located at the heart of the city. Professional staff helped us with information about events and activities. Splendid breakfast! This hotel is worth your every penny.
7.5 Good
Pros: A very old lace I wouldn’t recommend
Cons: The place
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s an old building in Savonlinna, but clean. A bt remote yet, you can still walk to the old castle, well, Savonlina is not a huge place after all. A bit remote yet, cozy and I liked old style of in door structure. Some people my not like if they are looking for a standard type of hotel rooms.
Cons: Nothing indeed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very atomspheric wooden building, which used to be a hospital building in old days in very eautiful location. Staff were always smiley and very friendly! The room was homey. Liked it!
Cons: It's no one's fault but the weather this summer has been unexpectedly, extraordinary hot even in nordic countries, so that the old hotel building was not prepared for it. The room was really hot to stay in when I checked in at 15.30 pm, the sun was shining straight from the big window and the curtains were too thin to cut the light and heat off, not even slightly... During the night it got cooler and was comfortable to sleep keeping windows open, but in an early morning, the sun started shinning straight on my pillow very strongly and the room got quickly very hot. Luckily I stayed for opera festival and didn't have to stay inside the room long at all, but if the curtain was "pimennysverhot" (light filtering curtains), maybe it helped. Just suggesting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Historical building, good location, free parking
Cons: Wifi only available at reception
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Superior room with superior view to the castle, the same "Saimaan Mafia" runs nice restaurants near by, e.g. Waahto brewery restaurant next door. The building used to be an old military hospital, so there is plenty of room. In the superior room there was a kitchenette, but no dishes except cups and glasses. So take your own or get some from the local flee market for couple of euros, if you stay longer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Nice breakfast. Nice staff. Amazing view from the room. Nice kitchen with small oven.
Cons: The toilet flash once every 20 minutes.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location next to the brewey
Cons: Part of room not as clean as it should have been.

6.3 Good
Pros: Walking distance to central pier and town centre.
Cons: Tiny room with 2 separate beds and tiny bathroom. No space in bathroom for toiletries.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was extremely accomodating when we hit traffic and had trouble arriving in time before the check-in closing. The location was good and gave us a great base for exploring what the town had to offer.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It's got a free parking and it's right accross the fortress with everything accessible on foot. Our room was big.
Cons: The 3rd bed is -as often - a fold-up affair that is not the most comfortable. There is no kettle in the room to make tea/coffee.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Position, breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: The location.
Cons: No bacon in breakfast, Room lacked soap/shampoo in shower. Empty plastic cups were not cleaned or forgotten on table.
6.3 Good
Cons: Tiny bed,too expensive
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location perfect. Room temperature comfortable.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant at the hotel could not offer vegan food, only sallad. Also I was missing alternatives for milk, no wheat-, rice-, soy- or coconutmilk or youhurt was available. Many people have different diets or allergies and alternative products should be available.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Shower is a little small, but I'm not actually very slim !!
Cons: Basic hotel but decent, clean & safe

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake. The check-in staff gave us this room in response to my request for a nice view. When we were outside, and I looked up, I realized that we had the only balcony in the building! We truly appreciated this effort to please us. The front desk staff consistent helpfulness and patience. Great customer service!

Cons: The room had a high temperature.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was excellent
Cons: Old,no AC and No WiFi in the rooms. There were not blackout Courtains which is important in Summer when there is 24h daylight
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming staff and amazing breakfast buffet. Ideal situation for lake cruises and not so far from Railway Station, shops and the Castle. They cater for Coeliacs. Beautiful part of Suomi/Finland. Spacious apartment.
Cons: Noisy boys on motorbikes in car park outside our window. Had to ask for crockery and cutlery for our self-catering kitchen. No Wifi in room.
6.8 Good
Pros: best place in town
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfast was one of the best I have had in Finland or anywhere in Europe.
Cons: There was no air-conditioning, that would have been nice ´cos it was above 30 degrees... Pillow was not good, at least for me. Hotel is quite outdated.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location in relation to the Opera in the Castle that night that was the reason for our visit to Savonlinna. The summer opera festival here is worth considering when planning a road trip out of Helsinki. Various restaurants nearby. Free street car parking is possible nearby - check the signs and times.
Cons: No air conditioning in the room and inadequate window curtains that let in too much light at night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is conveniently located opposite the marina in the heart of Savonlinna. The staff were helpful. The room was a good size.
Cons: The wifi was only available in the hotel lobby. For 110 Euros p/n I would expect it throughout the hotel. The TV channels intermittently disappeared in the room. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms - there was a small fan in the room but it is not the same.
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast not good

Cons: A little bit run down. The balcony wasn't clean. Heating temperature too high. Curtain and not glass in the shower, so the bathroom's floor got wet. Breakfast with not a lot of choice on the sweet side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spahotel is an amazing place - hotel, nature, food :) But a special thanks to Natalia at the reception, because of her we felt like at home! Definitely will be back again!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good staff and check in and out and storage of luggage in day of departure. Good breakfast. Sauna included albeit we didn't have time to use. Very very good location, especially for train station, literally 2 minutes walk..town only 5-10 minutes walk.

6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful nature all around
Cons: A mixture of a hotel and old people home, very strange
6.3 Good
Pros: The rooms where decently decorated although we did ask to put the two single beds together they where wide apart. The local beer was quite nice. The staff was friendly and helpful although a tad over there head with our group
Cons: We where there for a funeral of a deer family member. The resort is at the same time a hotel and a sanatorium. The two where not separated enough, there where rooms in between doctors offices. The restaurant looks like stuck in a time wrap and is in dire need of a revamp. It has the distinct feel of an sanatorium canteen. All in all the place seems not really to have a real concept at what to be.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast was bad, very poor and bland.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location, good spa facility
Cons: Poor buffet choice
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Extra beautiful nature. Friendly staff, cosy rooms.
Cons: Spa is closed on Sunday till lunch when everyone should check-out! So we couls only use spa at Saturday, but expected to do it on Sunday also!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: All in one.
Cons: -
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was very spacious and clean, with comfy armchairs, large tv, large desk, 2 night tables next to the bed and fridge. There were also wardrobes and many shelves for clothes. Beds were very comfortable. Nice view from the window to the forest. Heated floor in the bathroom. Swimming pool was opened from early afternoon till 20.30 and in the morning between 7.30 and 8.30. There were not many people in the pool when I visited it.
Cons: Breakfast was rather bad - hard, old bread as well as old rolls, meat balls that who knows what kind of journey made before ending up on the breakfast table. Not much choice of foods and no descriptions what food is served. In our room it seemed like one curtain was missing ( the other one could barely cover half of the window, and I needed to reinstall it twice, since it was not attached properly to the clamps) along with half door of shower cabin. Also one night-table lamp did not work, but we got another one when we asked. Our room was right above the swimming pool, so we had some bothering noise in the room till swimming pool's closing time, however we were offered to change the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: It’s very close to the lake. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: I think the hotel used to be a hospital or at least it feels like it. The layout is quite confusing. The hotel could do with updating as it is a bit dated. Breakfast was okay but not great.
7.0 Good
Pros: Functional, clean rooms with ac. Location by the lake is beautiful, nice walk tours around Punkaharju. Lake side café is worth visit&dinner or waffels.
Cons: Breakfast was like going back to the 80ties, bad value for money.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was an old sanatorium, creating a historical atmosphere.
Cons: The time for dinner, pool was limited only between 5-7 pm.
