Nothing. My advice would be do not book to stay here - especially if travelling alone.
This hotel is horrible. It looks nothing like any of the photos and the reviews I read did not paint a fair picture of how I felt in this place. On arriving I had a nervous feeling - it’s so run down it’s like something from an American Horror film, unfortunately it was 10.30pm so I had little choice but to continue to check in. Reception is bleak, the place continues to wreak of being run down and has a bit of a sinister undertone. Reception staff were unfriendly, off hand and did not settle my nerves. I was told my room was ‘Room 1, in the basement’, and then essentially dismissed. My stinky lift down to the basement did nothing to alleviate my increasing fears and worries - the place is covered very obvious CCTV cameras too which adds to the creepiness. My windowless room, although it appeared clean on the surface, held a stained chair, marked carpet and the smell was not pleasant. I sat wondering whether to leave immediately - however being a lone female traveller in an unfamiliar part of London I wasn’t sure where to go at this time. The chain on my door was broken, multiple previous reviews state many of the doors don’t work - so I pushed furniture in front of it (the lock appeared to work), and then had a terrible, restless sleep in a bed that on the surface seemed clean, but I imagine is ancient and not so great for the bones (or imagination) The walls were thin to the point I could hear television throughout the night from rooms nearby, the doors in the hall slamming over night, couples fighting and stomping down the corridor... I was grateful to waken up - felt unrested and horrified booking.com aren’t a little more honest about some of the places they advertise, and left in a flurry unshowered and not really ready for the course I was about to participate in.
Large clean comfortable room
I booked a double room at the shocking price of £160 for ONE night, only to get there and then to say they had none left and we were given a twin room. Going into the room, the carpet was covered in a thick layer of dust, the lamp was broken, there was biscuit crumbs on the floor and the bathroom was disgusting. The staff, including the manger were the rudest people I’ve encountered. Easily the worst hotel I’ve experienced.
locking my door at night time. the bath - even though it was small.
the sticky carpets and smelly restaurant, the congealed looking breakfast, the milk cartons not being replaced, the constant humming outside room 13G, the unsavoury characters staying at the hotel - such as intimidating builders having an aggressive go at the poor receptionist, the key card that frequently didnt work.
Nothing - do not stay at this hotel if you value your happiness.
Worst hotel experience ever. Dirty, old, terrible beds. Do not consider staying here people. We even heard other customers exploding in the corridor at the staff (poor staff) due the the overwhelming feelings of disappointment evoked by this establishment. I am not one to complain, but this place was the worst hotel experience of my life.
