Pros: The hosts have really gone out of their way to make this location a superb place to stay. The room was fabulous, so many thoughtful touches and facilities. The breakfast was the best I think I've ever had anywhere. The hosts were very helpful and friendly and we really hope to stay again on a future trip to Tasmania. Longford was a great location to see many interesting historical and natural places in that part of the island. This Inn is a real gem.

Pros: The location was ideal for me as i was attending a course nearby in Longford. The breakfast were divine! Stewed fruit from the garden, cooked breakfast with every condiment you could desire. Service was perfect too! Highlight was returning after a long day to freshly baked cakes each evening.

Pros: Lovely accommodation and beautiful breakfast. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We had home baked muffins delivered to our door on arrival and the next day we had home baked chocolate and raspberry slice baked by our host .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Racecourse Inn was spectacular!!! There were 6 of us in our group staying there (in 3 rooms) and everyone was blown away at how large the rooms were!!! And the attention to detail such as including homemade muffins & biscuits upon arrival was so sweet. The rooms were far superior to any hotel we have stayed in. The staff were delightful and went above and beyond to assist us. The breakfast was also pretty AMAZING!!! Thanks so much!

Pros: Location and animals were awesome... the resident pig and goat walking past the verandah were a bonus..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a real Country property with country feel
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it was gorgeous. We absolutely adored staying there. The history was very interesting as well. For an early settler experience I highly recommend it.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting was amazing, it was a 1841 gardeners cottage. It had all amenities but was set up as a heritage accommodation site. The breakfast was well set out and quite large. The heritage garden at the main house was well worth a walk around.
Cons: We did not see any staff for the entire stay. Our friends were also staying there; they found their cottage and a map there showed us the way to ours. The homestead has staff there Tuesday to Sunday, but our stay was a Monday. We were really unsure how to access the accommodation.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent experience staying on the world heritage site. The gardeners cottage is quaint and very private. It has a great outlook over gorgeous hills. Had some cute wallabies in our garden one morning and some frogs living in a little pond outside. The provided breakfast of fresh bread, eggs, peaches, milk, juice, butter, jams etc were excellent. Feeding the animals was also a great experience. We walked down to the jetty and had a lovely picnic one afternoon too.
Cons: No wifi and poor connectivity in the gardeners cottage- which is actually quite nice but may inconvenience some.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Authentic step back in history
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fantastic. The property has charm, a truly special place to stay and that is before you get to the breakfast which is spectacular, starting with eggs, cereals, jam, bottled fruit, orange juice... the list goes on. And the cottages are well equipped and comfortable. I was only sorry it wasn’t cold enough for a fire. And wandering around the historic property was just exquisitely peaceful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in the beautifully restored "Gardner's cottage" on this historic colonial farm. The colours at sunrise and the atmosphere were amazing. Everything you need including breakfast is in the cosy cottage. Louise is a great host and also gave me a tour of the grounds. How lucky we are to have this property preserved and cared for by the original family. The stay was a highlight of my visit to Tasmania.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A traditional cottage brings us back to history! We spotted wallaby at night.

Pros: Professional manner of staff, very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. Bed, linen and pillows beautiful and cozy. Room was quiet, nice and dark in the morning. Very happy with the price of the room.
Cons: We had everything we needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The helpful staff. Sony was exceptional. Helpful & bright despite people not happy regarding noise from renovations. One gentleman on staff at reception needs to go to a refresher on customer service. Rude & short to us & others on phone & desk. Cleaning & wait staff friendly & helpful. Parking prices reasonable & on site (although we got last space at 4pm) Loved the large classic rooms, dressing area & spacious bathrooms on 1st floor (deluxe king) Bed & Couch very comfortable. Our friends had more modern bland boring rooms.on 1st & 4th floor. Great views but not as comfortable.
Cons: The noise of impact drills from renovations above. We were NOT informed this would be occurring or we would of booked elsewhere. Staff were very understanding & provided free drink vouchers BUT this not not help sleep & relaxation during the day. This was intended as recovery time for us.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very stylish
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Being able to open the bedroom window and have fresh air while we were sleeping.
Cons: The portable air conditioner in our room was noisy, so we turned it off.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very central to shopping area. And to great restaurants.
Cons: Nil
6.0 Good
Pros: Great staff and excellent location.
Cons: The room next door had a gym junkie. Bashing his weights around and throwing his medicine ball at the wall to thrash Music was disgusting.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Got a bill for $1.00 taken out of my credit card ??
Cons: No information book of hotel's amenities, where to eat locally, or for that matter no bible either. Felt like I was shut off from the rest of the world. If I wanted to know anything I had to ask at the the front desk. Not the way I like. Parking was a nightmare even thought I realise was free of charge.

Pros: lovely out look from the large window quiet apart from the in room air conditioner fan at night. comfy bed. nice bathroom
Cons: Instead of having a single bed alongside the king they could have provided a comfy two seater couch . Who wants to sit on the bed to watch tv. Also having to step into the bath to take a shower isn't a good thing. Having to park well away from the building, you were allowed to bring your bags in from the front of the building then park quite a way from the casino.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Adjacent to gorge walk and seaport walk, has a restaurant on site.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The timing of our visit to Launceston and stay at Penny Royal unfortunately coincided with the drama of Covid-19. The staff, however, bent over backwards to help us. A microwave was provided for us to cook our meals, as nothing was open. We were given clear directions to a local bakery and the supermarkets. The manager, Mark, personally knocked on our door to inform us that the hotel had been instructed to close by their head office. He reassured us that , as interstate visitors with nowhere else to go, we could stay on for the two nights we had booked. In the face of what must have been a devastating time, everyone on staff was friendly and put on a cheery face. Thanks Mark and girls for all your efforts on our behalf.

We also loved the food in the restaurant and had a very lovely chat with the restaurant manager who gave us tips about the bridestowe lavender farm, not being in 'purple' bloom season. Thanks Penny Royal Inn!

Pros: Get a high floor with a balcony and marina view. Beautiful!
Cons: Only thing that could have made our room more perfect would have been a spa bath

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location of the hotel was very central. Great view from the room. We were upgraded and had a very large suite which was very comfortable. The staff were very accommodating in fixing the issue with the air-conditioning.
Cons: The air-conditioning was not working when we arrived and the room was too hot to stay in. It took two different staff members to fix the issue. Once fixed the room was fine for the rest of our stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: One bedroom suite located on the 2nd floor gave us excellent views of the marina below as well as the elevated suburb of Trevallyn. Our corner suite had balconies on two sides. The bedroom was light and airy with a comfortable king bed. Lounge/Kitchenette was spacious and well furnished although contained only a few cooking utensils. Also crockery and cutlery setting for three limited the opportunity to prepare anything but a basic meal. We liked the large sized, quality brand name, TV with Foxtel access. Washing machine and clothes drier were useful additions although there was no clothes horse. Conveniently located within a reasonable walking distance of the many local tourist attractions as well as the city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful and we would stay here again on our next visit.
6.7 Good
Pros: The rooms were spacious
Cons: The welcome was lacking in warmth. And there were few details on check in, as if it was a self-contained apartment and we’d stayed before. Some information about nearby restaurants and how to get to the waterside of the property would have been appreciated.

Pros: Centrally located, within 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Supermarket close by. Lovely traditional building. Very spacious common areas. Spacious room and comfortable bed. I stayed at Launceston Backpackers at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the management made sure the rooms were not crowded - thank you so much for that!

Cons: Reception close between 11am to 3pm
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, helpful staff
5.0 Okay
Pros: Rooms and kitchen are big
Cons: In my 2 nights there i witnessed 2 thefts of food from the fridge, the door is always open so everyone from the street is free to enter. I understood from the reception there's a guy coming in and stealing food, yet they still keep the door open (and there are still thefts). The mattress is horrible and sinks in the middle.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, free parking and the hostel is quiet and clean.
Cons: No sheets included and the food can be stolen in the kitchen. We stayed only 2 nights and our bag was stolen in the fridge.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Big living room area, on site parking, great location
Cons: Many details were bad, for example way too few bathrooms for number of guests (only one on our floor), extremely short reception hours, gate shut until 8am making it impossible to leave the parking spot early, etc. But the worst was the behaviour of who I suspect is the manager. After a very long drive we parked into the on-site lot, not noticing the sign saying it'd be closed until 8am since we were just keen to finally get some rest and we didn't anticipate such a ludicrous policy could exist with no early morning reception to resolve (our fault for gaving semi-decent expectations I guess). After seeing we'd only got 1 key for the 4 of us we called the manager to ask for another since the reception was already shut, and despite it taking many calls to reach him, this already irked him (rather than him apologizing for the delay), despite it being their fault for giving a single key and having very short reception hours. Fine. Then after having noticed the parking lot issue (as 3 of us needed to leave early) we had to call again: this time it took him even longer and when he finally did respond he threw a childish temper tantrum because we'd called around 10pm (so not even that late). Then he threatened to kick us out if we dared call him again for asking him to do what is supposed to be his job. Just pathetic behaviour especially considering his feeble attempt at a tough guy act throughout the process. The next day he offered a half-hearted apology which is appreciated (and the reason I didn't put 1/10), but fact remains that this sort of conduct is appalling especially considering our needs were due to *their* terrible policies and ineptitude. Steer well clear if you're looking for a positive hostel atmosphere.

Cons: The shower and room get very wet because the curtain surrounding the shower is to short.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Liked Hotel location.
Cons: Didn't like the room. It was below street level, very dark and dismal, no ventilation, bathroom didn't work very well, The windows looking out onto the street were filthy, had to go down 16 steps from the rooms door to get into the room, very claustraphobic

Pros: Dinner in the restaurant was very good we ate there every night of our two stays( 6 nights ) and did not have a bad meal.on the other hand we ate breakfast every day and that was dreadful none of the breakfast kitchen staff could cook eggs, and we tried them scrambled just tasted of vinegar, fried one day two fried eggs without any yokes ,scrambled just a sloppy mess. Omelet a complete failure.
Cons: The hotel has absolutely no disabled facilities, no disabled spots in a very difficult car park and a main staircase without a handrail.
