The Rice View Villa was recently opened in 2015, making it a fantastic choice for those staying in Longsheng. This property features Free in-room Wi-Fi, and is just 800m from the Longji Terraced Field -Jinkeng Yao Village Area. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. According to our trusted guests, the facilities at this hotel are first-rate. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with great staff and an awesome view. The food was delicious and they gave us great recommendations for hiking and exploring the area. The room was very well equipped with water for tea, big bathroom and a great view from the terrace. We could see the rice terrace view and see/hear a small waterfall from our room. We enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Getting there can be rough - we had big suitcases and it was a challenge to drag them down the stairs and along the small ledge to make it to the hotel... even though it's only a 5 minute walk, if you have big bags, request that the hotel sends help (around 50 rmb per bag) - trust me it's worth it! The room was very well equipped with water for tea, big bathroom and a great view from the terrace. I think they could do a slightly better job closing all the crevices that open to outside to keep bugs out. Obviously in this type of forest-like area some bugs are definitely expected but I think they can do more to secure the room and bathroom so that bugs cannot get in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice English speaking staff which made our stay wonderful. Beautifully designed rooms . Delicious restaurant at the hotel with fresh local food.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff are amazing. Booked our transport to and from the accommodation. We loved our stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel sits right in front of beautiful rice fields in Longji, which gives its guests an amazing view. We could even see the sunrise from our room. The service of the hotel is very good and the staff are all genuinely helpful and kind. The food offered by the hostel was good. The room was in line with the pictures showed and was very spacious. The room was very clean as well. The hike up to the two viewpoints was not too far (40 mins and 20 mins respectively from the hostel).
Cons: The location of the hostel was a bit far from the main road, don’t book this hostel if you have restrained mobility or comes with big luggages.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay here. The staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly, informed. The location is great for hiking to the surrounding terraces which are stunning. We recommend the local specialty food which is cooked inside bamboo, it’s delicious! The room was large and comfortable, definitely recommend staying here.
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s a bit hard to get to but the view is breathtaking. So it’s totally worth it. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant cooks great food.
Cons: The bathroom can be furnished a bit better. I know it’s in the mountain so there are lots of bugs. But still can do a bit better with pest control. Found 2 cockroaches in one night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Warm and friendly service from the get-go with staff communicating well to ensure our travel arrangements were made. From Dazhai parking lot we booked a 4WD (120rmb) to drive up to Tiantouzhai parking lot where staff met us and guided us the last 10min trek to the hotel. The hotel is right next to another hotel, and not much else. Pack light! Beautiful family room, great view, comfortable beds with electric blankets and spacious bathroom with a Japanese toilet!! The in-house ‘restaurant’ food is delicious, we didn’t know where else to eat anyway. The manager sent us a map with pictures on wechat to show directions from the hotel to lookout 1 (40min with other lookout stops on the way) and lookout 2 (20min) which was really helpful.
Cons: A bit difficult to get to the location but the same would be said for any place up in Tiantouzhai village.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is incredibly helpful and polite, especially Wendy (Wu) who went well out of her way on numerous occasions to make our stay comfortable. She is a real asset to the hotel and we are very grateful. The hotel itself is very clean and has good facilities. Its a bit difficult to get to (the usual road to the town carpark is being repaired and we had to take a 20 min drive from dazhai carpark as we couldnt hike all the way with luggage and slightly older parents in tow) but this is only a minor issue. The views at the hotel itself are beautiful!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful. Rooms are very tastefully done and the staff is excellent. The views from the villa are breathtaking and there are plenty of beautiful hikes passing through the rice fields. It is a paradise for hikers and photographers. The food we ate at the villa was superb and the staff was very attentive and eager to please us.
Cons: The only low was it's approach because we had to drive from Guilin to Longsheng for 2 hours, then almost an hour ride in the bus to the parking lot, then another 20 minutes in a van into the mountains and finally a 10 minute climb with luggage to the villa. But I guess if you want great views, you have to make some efforts for it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Dashu, the venue manager, has been very useful and nice with us. She helped us to fulfill all our needs and make our experience unforgettable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food is simply amazing! So tasty and fresh. The rooms were very clean and neat. Shared bathroom super clean and convenient in use. A lot of shared space where you can chill and watch movies. Awesome!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very helpful with a good attitude.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent. The best spot in this village, views of the terraces from the room. The walk up is not that difficult, we did it in 40min with big bags on our back. They will send an email after booking with information on how to get there, very easy. Nice rooms, not to big, but clean. The food was really nice, especially the Chinese dishes. They give pictures of the 3 main walking routes to the sight seeing spots.
Cons: It's a wooden building with carpet and plywood painted white. It is in no way a problem and we knew this before hand, but this makes the picture look more modern and tight then the spaces are in real life. I would definitely recommend to stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jack was the most helpful and kind person in the world, I really mean THE MOST HELPFUL in every aspect, I don’t know what we would have done without him. He send us an email with the instructions of how to get to the hotel from yangshuo, he answered every time I wrote him with instructions in chienese for me to show the people the messages and the could help us, we arrived without any cash to the hotel and he helped us with that too, with our luggage when we left and with the taxi in a very good price back to the village when we left, I wish we could stay more here. everything was amazing, the view beautiful , the food delicious and Jack highlight that made our stay there sooo enjoyable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location in terms of being able to access the hikes to the 3 viewpoints around Tiantou village. Great views from the hostel itself. Room was we ll kept. The bus ride to Dazhai village (booked through the hostel) conveniently included a shuttle service to Tiantou village (although I wasn't told this beforehand and potentially could have missed it). The staff were very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was incredible, the staff super friendly and helpful, and there’s a projector in the living room where we watched a movie!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely friendly and did everything to help us feel home.
Cons: The weather
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Awesome location, right amongst the rice terraces. Lots of lovely walks to do and the hostel has step by step photos to guide you through the walks too.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cannot say enough good things about this family-owned place. It is located very close to one of the terraces, which makes sightseeing and roaming the village alike vey convenient. Summer and her family are super nice, caring and helpful. No matter what you need, they always have a solution. The food they offer at their restaurant is outstanding — flavorful, plentiful and always fresh. Ridge Inn is what every hotel should be.
Cons: Nothing!
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely place in a great spot for exploring the rice terraces. The closest viewpoint is only around 10 minutes away, and we could see another from our balcony. The room is lovely, balcony was a great place to sit and watch people trudging up the hill the viewpoint. Summer is very sweet and helpful. She greeted us with a great introduction to the area and all the different walks etc, over a pot of lovely local black tea. She organised our taxi from Xingping and then onwards to Guilin airport, and was very communicative before we arrived, answering all our questions about how much cash to bring etc. Especially once we’d added her on WeChat, the Chinese social media app - well Worth downloading, as it’s widely used by hotels as a way of getting in touch, and makes things much easier. Dinner is good, which is just as well, as there didn’t seem to be many other options in town. The bamboo rice was great and the braised pumpkin was gorgeous. Honestly.
Cons: Though she works really hard, Summer has her hands full trying to do everything herself and the service suffers as a result. She forgot part of our order at pretty much every meal, mainly because she was simultaneously keeping abreast of what’s happening in the kitchen, answering the phone to new guests, and more while taking our orders. Any human would struggle with that level of multi-tasking! Breakfast on our first morning was great - noodles, scrambled eggs, toast and more. The following two days the noodles disappeared and there was just the toast and a fried egg each, still nice, but we did miss the noodles. Finally, minor thing, but the floors in the rooms are so loud and creaky - everybody can hear who’s going to the loo in the middle of the night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved the size of the room and cleanliness. It was also very nicely decored.
Cons: Nothing I can really fault. Location is about a 30mins walk but that is expected because the inn is situated up the mountain
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great view. Super friendly staff. Stayed one night. All family of 5 in one room, was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is so nice and food is simple but super delicious
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Price is cheap for a 4-Star hotel. The room was very nice, very clean. Also the bathroom was comfortable and clean. The food was also very good. We just stayed for one night, nevertheless nothing to complain. Great service - helped to organize a transport back to Guilin, on short notice
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was big and clean
Cons: Lobby area a bit casual. Credit card facility didn’t work.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located central in the upper part of the village. High floor rooms have excellent views. Staff was very helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very personal touch. We were greeted with tea at the arrival and even before that, the hotel made sure that we would get there safely. Explained the commodities of the heritage site and local traditions. So we were well prepared. We felt well take care of and liked the very friendly and helpful manner of our host. Food was really fresh local and delicious. Also after the stay when we found out our flight had been canceled the host took great care to help us get a new ticket and complain at the hotline. We can highly recommend the location.
Cons: When you were traveling through China a lot as we have than there is nothing to complain about it. When you are used to Western/European style you may find some insects in the property that are totally normal in this kind of environment but you maybe do not like that. However the hotel staff deals with it very professionally.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Local , warm

Pros: Amazing place and a great host! He helped us out booking train tickets and was helpful with any question. The food is fantastic, try the beer fish and the tofu! The location is perfect for hiking as it is directly in the area of the rice terraces. Rooms are comfy and with beautiful view.
Cons: Everything was perfect!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is amazing, could go back anytime just to have such an amazing host! He speaks really good English and had great tips and answers to everything. Also the food was so delicious that I skipped all the restaurants during my hike so that I can eat there. Dorm room was quite tiny but with wide beds and with AC. Location was one of the main reasons for my choice: close to bus station and no need to climb stairs wirh luggage(like to many other places).
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Steven at reception is very nice and helpful, great English as well. I would recommend trying the dishes cooked by steven's parents, great food!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property facilities were clean and nice despite being far from town. The owner was also very friendly and helpful :) Location is good, and views from the room was beautiful. Food at the place was also nice, with generous portions good for sharing. Staying in this place made me feel comfortable even though we were far from the city, surrounded by rice terraces.
Cons: The design of the toilet was a little cramp, as the shower and the toilet bowl were in very close proximity, so it will get wet when showering. Other than that, it is clean and functional, so it’s good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Run by a local family, friendly and hospitable. Great location in the very center of a valley, very close to the bus station. I have never slept better, I woke up at 5 o’clock in the morning because I was completely fresh. They cook nice food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a home-run cute hostel with excellent location. The very best around the area. The owner and his family are extremely helpful and kind. Food is good, I'll miss the eggplant! Room is clean with everything you need. Greeeeeeeeat value for the price. If you travel alone the owner will help you fix up with other guests to share meals or take tours together. Very friendly and cozy vibe. Highly recommended. Wish the owner and his family the very best in the future (*≧▽≦)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family-owned place which makes you feel at home, especially after a day of hiking (Ping an-Dazhai). The hall is very nice and chill (there is also a funny cat!) and the room is just fine. The food is good as well (the eggplants are super). The staff is English speaking and very nice and helpful.
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very helpful! I got help to book my bus back to Guilin and they also connected me with some other guests from Malaysia to do a hike together. The location is perfect as it is a short walking distance from/to the bus station and a good starting point to do some hikes. I can strongly recommend that place! PS: Try the braised eggplant! So delicious!
Cons: Everything was okay!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, wonderful location and amazing food! Staff is super nice.
Cons: Super hard beds

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was nice and helpful even if their English was not so good.Beautiful rooms and view, however one night the whole village lost power so we had a code shower haha . Very clean and comfortable. Like all the hotels, it was a trek up but it was worth it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is run by nice, local family from ethnic minority. They don’t speak English very well, but they will give you handbook about transfers and trails. They are very helpful. Localization on Google maps and map on booking.com is incorrect. The village is beautiful, there are no many foreign tourist there.
Cons: The air condition was a little bit noisy, so they moved us to other room, even better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was so helpful and so kind! The views are great too!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb with a magnificent view. You can hike the many footpaths in the mountains and rice terraces from the hotel door. Li D. Is a very kind and helpful (basic) English speaking host. The rooms are basic but clean and provide views on the village of Ping An and the rive terraces. The tasty food in the restaurant is freshly cooked and mainly Chinese.
Cons: Difficult to get there with a suitcase. Bring your backpack!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Food is made to order and it is good. Staff is very nice. This is a great place to stay for exploring the rice terraces.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Like : (1) Pleasant view of PingAn village (most of the wooden buildings function as hotels now) and rice terraces (partial view) from balcony rooms which are located on level 3 (highest floor is level 4 - no balcony on this floor but windows are large). Best to get rooms on the top 2 floors as they give you the best views. (2) Room is beautifully decorated in a modern style with lots of natural wooden furnishings. Looks exactly like the photos in booking.com. (3) hotel location is mid-way between PingAn village's entrance (about 20 minutes on foot) and the 2 main rice terrace-viewing platforms (about 30 minutes on foot). Manageable walk (with many steps) if you have average fitness (4) Pleasant and accommodating staff
Cons: Not great : The breakfast serving will seem meagre if you have a huge appetite and expect something more substantial. There're 2 choices : (1) American breakfast (3 triangles of toast, 2 short strips of bacon, 1 egg and a small portion of strawberry-like jam. Freshly brewed coffee is great though (2) Chinese breakfast (porridge or noodles and a couple of dumplings/buns). Unless you eat like a bird, probably can do without the breakfast and save some money!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was really lovely. The room was very good. She also invited us to a birthday party and we had dinner with a Chinese family. Thank you very much
9.3 Excellent
Pros: They we great about arranging transportation for us- from Yangshuo and then next day to the airport. We had 5 people and they had a car that fit us and our luggage. From the car it’s maybe a 5 min hike up to the lodge but they use a pulley system to bring up your luggage. The location is super convenient to see the terraces. You’re a 30 min hike away from either of the big terrace viewpoints. They grind their own coffee- it’s strong and hot. When ordering food they can also give good advice to people with more westerner palates ‘you may find this bitter, that meat has a lot of fat’ etc. Both our rooms were very clean with a western toilet and a nice shower. Also their dog is super cute and good around kids.
Cons: The rooms we stayed in aren’t wooden so it doesn’t feel like the old style house. (Unlike the downstairs dining hall.) They don’t keep bottled water but they have kettles in your room so you can boil your own. ( Or just buy it somewhere else in Ping An)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was nice, lovely balcony with views of rice terraces. Staff were helpful and friendly, restaurant food was good, breakfast included was good (american breakfast was bacon, fried egg and toast). WiFi worked well and they accepted MasterCard for payment which was great for our travel debit cards!
Cons: Pillow smelt bad, like the case hadn't been washed. Room wasn't cleaned during our stay, expected it would be at a hotel like this. Our muddy hiking shoes made the floor dirty, room cleaning would have been good. Hotel's dog barked loads at night/morning outside the hotel and woke us up a lot, think it should be kept inside so that it doesn't bark so much at passers by! We slept quite badly because of this and because the pillows were a bit big and firm for our liking. We couldn't get A/C off of warm mode because it was in Chinese and very unintuitive but expect if we'd asked they'd have shown us, but we only wanted it cooler in the middle of the night.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Location.
Cons: This was the second time I visited the hostel. The first time the staff was so good, I was hoping for the same. However this I was not that lucky. It seems that everybody at the reception just works there for a short period, as a parttime job. Most of them are very friendly, however this time one of them lacked the necessary communication skills. We started off on the wrong foot, and it just did not get right. Too bad, we left with a unsatisfied feeling.

Pros: Such friendly staff who went out of their way to show us around. It was cold and wet though, so a fire place would have helped.

7.0 Good
Pros: The landscape you can see from window
Cons: Too far away and difficult to reach. I had to pay the car to go and back, a Jeep, that costed the equivalent of a night stay. Mud everywhere outside. The wc was just a hole in the ground.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There are loads of hotels in this area but only a few use booking.com as the rest are for the Chinese market. We visited in July and everywhere was very quiet which is what we like. We walked in so owner emailed us directions as you need these and he was also really useful with local info which was invaluable - thank you. Maps and arrows not accurate! As quiet was like staying in somebodies home which was another bonus but beware the hard beds.

Cons: The toilet’s water flow is a little problem. Unable to use the Wifi during our stay.
9.3 Excellent

Thank you guys, we really enjoyed our time there!

Pros: The owners were away but our hostess was incredible. She made us feel at home, had answers to all of our questions and was an absolute delight. The food was excellent and the views amazing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice staff and very helpful, location between no 1 and no 2 viewpoint, just 30 minutes walk. Perfect.
Cons: House isolation could be better. Because of the wooden house with open windows you might see some guests who are not supposed to be there.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really great staff. Ms Deng, who was working there during my stay, was wonderful. She knows the area well, and made several excellent suggestions for my daily activities. I enjoyed chatting with her. Before going, Tianran Ju helped me to set up transportation from Guilin and on to Yangshuo after my stay. They even offered substantial discounts on bus fare. Great communication pre-stay, including directions from the parking lot. Once you get on the path up, it's hard to get lost. But having directions to get on to that path was most helpful. (On the way up, try the steamed buns a hundred meters or so from the parking lot entrance; out of this world. Mr. Tan is a great cook). Good vibe in the place. Wonderful views, too.
Cons: Food was good but not great. Having Blue Mountain coffee made up for that, however. This is a venue for hiking and appreciating nature more than a culinary experience. So I was fine.

Pros: The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff is great and the food is great. Convenient transportation.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, very nice terrace, friendly and helpful staff
Cons: The toilets smell badly. I can only assume this is a common problem in the village, since the buildings are quite old.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff is great! The environment is also good and clean. The terraces are beautiful and suitable for hiking. The food was great, too! Great experience!
5.0 Okay
Pros: - not far away from the no. 3 spot, 1h of walk you can reach the top of the mountain - have a big yard with tables and chairs
Cons: - the bathroom is more than horrible - staff not always helpful, except one of the girls in the reception who's enthusiastic, the rest of them were annoyed when we called for service - the location is not easy to reach, 1h walk from the DaZhai parking - sound isolation is bad, we can hear conversations from next door, and steps from the room above - do not serve coffee in the morning

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved this place, it is maybe the best hotel (at this price range) that we have ever stayed in. The owner organised our bus tickets both ways so that we could get directly to the village where he met us off the bus (and very cheaply). Free tea is available all day, and you can sit on the terrace on a variety of comfortable chairs and enjoy the incredible view. The room is modern and comfortable with good airconditioning, and he upgraded us for free to a room with a view of the terraces, with huge windows. You could feel the springs in the mattress a bit but the bedding was clean and comfortable. The shower was hot and powerful. You can buy nice and reasonably priced local food to eat on the terrace, again with the view, and you are in a great location for a number of trails. We really wished we could have stayed longer and the owner was so kind and helpful
Cons: Be aware that it is a squat toilet in the room, not a western style one. However it was very clean and had a mechanised flush (not bucket). Also the WiFi did not really reach the top floor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly stuff. The owner picked us up from the bus station. The rooms and facilities are all very clean and organised. The view from our room is fantastic. Very pleasant stay.
Cons: I can complain nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The boy in charge of the reception was the best! He really help us to reach the place, came to pick up us to the "bus station" and was very funny and friendly and has the best english that we could find in China! The room was AMAZING, choose a room with mountain views without doubt. You could see the rice terraces from the bed! the views are breathtaking and the hotel is incredible quality-price! I've never been in such a nice place. The bed is also really comfortable and the lunch is really good to. If you can, stay for two nights at least, we stayed only one and was a pity because the place was incredible.
Cons: Arriving to the village is not as easy as in other places but is realy worth to get there.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lau was brilliant, so friendly and helpful!
7.5 Good
Pros: The hostel is like the very first down the rice terraces of Ping'an Village. This gives it 2 good points regarding the location: you don't have to climb more with your backpack to reach your hostel while arriving inside the village + you don't have to take more road to reach the hiking trail. The tenant was very helpful and friendly: gave us a lot of advice regarding the trails and organized a traditional cooking activity. The lodge is very cosy, with snooker table and table soccer at disposal. (Bonus point for the cute and cuddly cats.)
Cons: Arriving just before the rainy season the weather was already very humid and so was the whole lodge which is not isolated. There are only 2 bathroom/toilet combined (chinese style) for all the rooms (apart from the toilets near the downstairs common area). There is also a lack of plugs in the rooms.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful! Good food! Great location
Cons: Only squat toilet
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner did help with everything and had very, but I mean very useful, advices regarding hiking. Furthermore, he did arrange my transport also. The room was really spacious and the bed was wonderfully soft. The bathroom was very clean. The room felt more like a hotel than a hostel! I definitely recommend this hostel!
Cons: Actually, none...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good communication, easy to find, really comfortable bed in double room with balcony, food was OK and the staff helped arrange our return to Guilin. Pleasantly surprised!
7.5 Good
Pros: Helpful staff, good food and comfortable beds.
Cons: Hostel was noisy and the floor in the common room was constantly wet and slippery.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is great, the food is good value, and the staff is very nice. You will feel quite rapidly at ease in this family held hostel.
Cons: The building is all in wood, which gives it charm but makes it a bit humid when it starts raining a lot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here 4 nights, and had a very good stay. The receptionist was nice and helpful and tried to help us with everything. He knew a lot about the options in the area. The reataurant is very nice, we ate in the hostel every night and tried a lot of different things, it is a mix of local and western food. Especially the BBQ chicken is very good!
Cons: We stayed in the older part of the hostel, which is a bit noisier and maybe a bit outdated. When we visited it was low-season (May) so we did not experience any inconvenience but you might in high season.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The guy working there! One of the most helpful people we've met in China. Ensured we had all information for catching a bus to fenghuang without returning to guilin. Even gave me his we chat and spoke to a woman for us to confirm we were in the right place. Thank you! Food here was good too.
Cons: A bit damp (but you're essentially staying in a cloud). Not enough bathrooms. It wasn't anywhere near full and the bathrooms were still not enough. (Shower in toilet and only 2)
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff member was very helpful when planning our next stop (Fenghuang). The location was convenient to the rice terraces
Cons: The rooms were pretty musty and damp. The hostel seemed very empty and we were the only ones staying there
