Very very good will go back again very soon we hope
The view over the lake and the lovely spa. As it was rainy the inside pool was great with the kids. Bagnoles is very pretty and restful. The velo-train at the old station is really fun. The hotel was helpful in giving us two rooms opposite each other as requested. The staff were helpful and kind when our daughter broke a vase. We thought breakfast was a bit expensive and did not eat there in the evening for the same reason. But the breakfast was very nice. We did not mind not having tea/coffee in the rooms but people might miss them on a longer stay.
The staff were very helpful with any problem we had as our french is not that good.
Brilliant Hotel - little dated exterior but the rooms very very modern and spacious! We went for the lakeside view room and its was great, we had a little balcony and could sit out and look over the lake. Would recommend this place and hotel to anyone!
the renovations are complete and the bedrooms have been fitted out to a high standard TV in room had only French channels. I would expect at least one news channel such as CNN. The dining room seemed undersized and refused us a table for 2 for dinner on arrival claiming they had no space. No apology was offered. All unacceptable treatment for residents.
Not very much!! The general feeling was that we were disappointed & after many years of staying in French hotels this one was the first bad one. Some of the staff were very condescending towards guests.
the locaion and cleanliness and the good value in hotel restaurant
I liked the location and cleanliness of the room. Excellent standard.
pool and extras therein
excellent helpful reception comfortable bed quiet no noisy children pretty location english language newspaper available
Excellent room and restaurant. Very relaxed and friendly staff in a hotel just outside a pleasant spa town.
the food and ambience
We like the situation of the hotel, the decor and the rooms This is our 2nd visit & it was disappointing. During breakfast, vacated tables were being set for lunch & tablecloths ironed. Dinner was not the Michelin standard we expected. During check-out, the Proprietors carried on a conversation between themselves and I felt they were rude. Customers/clients are not respected now.
Excellent accommodation and setting. Close to good walks. Bagnoles was a very nice small town with bars and restaurants to hand. Service was excellent. Disappointed in the initial state of the room. Lots of flies in the room, many of which were dead on the floor. Whilst the presence of flies is something to be expeceted in a rural, the presence of many dead flies on the floor. Also, the room was cold, with no ability to control the room temperature locally. After several attempts the hotel staff overoad the system. This indicated to us that the room had not been checked before we took up residence. After these initial problems. the rest of the stay was very good.
The extensive grounds and the outdoor pool area were superb. We were disappointed to find no tea/coffee making facilities in the hotel bedrooms - the prices of food and wines were very high (e.g. Beaujolais Village 2006 31 Euros)
Hotel closes its facilities on mondays (bar/restaurant etc.) No problem but the price stayed the same. € 140,- without breakfast and no facilities at all is way to expensive. So the hotel was a big disappointment.
We were only staying at Le Manoir for 1 night, in transit, and so we din't get the opportunity to use any of the facilities which was a shame as they looked excellent.
A beautiful, bright, stylish and very comfortable hotel. Everything is new and spotlessly clean. It was the perfect place for a relaxing weeks break whilst visiting family in France. Breakfast was very relaxed with self-service in the lovely bright breakfast room providing fresh traditional French cuisine. The restaurant serves the most wonderful food at lunchtime and evening. We enjoyed lunch outside, in the hot sunshine, on the terrace and dinner in the sylish restaurant. I cannot praise the owners enough. Martine and Gervais work tirelessly to ensure, high standards are met and, their customers are comfortable. No bad points
Room etc good dinner only adequate Menu rather basic
Location in town centre. Nicely decorated, comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff. Evening meal excellent, but lots of restaurants nearby too. Good value for money. Had to keep door open as no a/c, so heard very noisy revellers in a nearby cafe, then their motorbikes later.
good hotel. I don't join the club of sour complainers who allways pinpointing things. In some country's it start to be a national sport, like in holland...
Imaginative decor; friendly, efficient staff; owners very attentive - quickly repired broken electric shutter and cleared car of snow. Warm room; lovely ensuite with hot shower. Good meals. Breakfast was nine euros per head (8.50 in advert)- a little expensive?
The room, the staff, the food.
Very well appointed hotel that seems to deserve more than a two star rating. The room was spacious and the bed was wide and comfortable. The window had electric shutters and gave a pleasant view on the fountain at the head of the main shopping area.Staff were friendly and helpful.Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby for when we chose to eat away from the hotel's excellent restaurant. No
The location and standard of the furnishings. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
The owners could not have been more helpful, welcoming and pleasant. They made our one night stay a pleasure.
The Lady Receptionist was first class both when arriving and departing. She also advised us of the French strike problem with respect to petrol. As a result we could take corrective action. The dinner menu was very limited - the worst we came across on this holiday. The head waiter would be better in a role that did not involve meeting guests. The "Superior Room" was disappointing.
Our room was bright, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, in particular the receptionistl I would have liked a little more choice for breakfast.
Lovely views from rear upstair windows & private car park. Nice clean hotel in a quiet location. No hot water from the shower although there was some hot water available in the sink. No bath in bathroom only a shower. Quite a walk to the town centre.
The recently renovated and refurbished room; dinner was imaginative and well served with a good wine -list. Well maintained car-park.
Charming, typically french privately-owned hotel with clean and adequate room. It was very hot in the night. The heating seemed to be turned on despite it being a very warm June weekend and the rooms facing the road were a bit noisy.
THE staff were very helpful No
The hotel was very good and there was plenty of parking
Friendly helpful staff and an immaculately maintained hotel. None.
It was an individual hotel run by the owners. It had character, having been built in the Edwardian era. Good evening meal, in a pleasant restaurant and very good breakfast.
Location, price, room Limited breakfast options which made it poor value (7.5 euro).
Friendly, helpfull staff. excellent location and views on lakeside opposite to casino, yet close to all shops and restaurents.
the hotel is good value rooms small but cosy bathroom good size great location all in all good hotel nothing
A very good location natural view
I arrived on crutches and they immediately changed our room for easier access. The room was exceptionally clean and the refurbishment completed to a very high standard. Fixtures and fittings excellent , the first hotel I have ever stayed at providing more than enough wardrobe space. Beautiful location next to the lake and interesting small shops. We stayed on a Tuesday, out of season the restaurant is only partially open so I cannot comment on the restaurant, but the setting and menu looked impressive. I would highly recommend this hotel. The owners are young and very enthusiastic, they also speak very good English. No complaints at all.
Old but nice hotel in the centre, near to Saint Michel by car. Non profesisonal staff - horrible waiter in the canvas shoes and jeans...
It had parking just outside. It was dreadful. Cold, dirty and the food was very cold. I told them that my room was cold and they said 'Sorry, nothing they could do, it was the fault of the woman who cleaned the rooms, who had forgotten to turn on the radiators'!!!! Perhaps its better in summer, although I have my doubts. People were sitting in the restaurant with coats on!! In any case as well as freezing cold the room was not clean and was badly laid out... the sink, toilet and bath were all inside separate rooms (3 different places)
Friendly staff, correct service, very good price for a 2 star hotel. Nothing more, nothing less. New joints in the shower tiling, would make the bathroom look much neater.
Extremely friendly hosts who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We really felt they could not do enough for us. Dinner was excellent, breakfast was good with really good tea making if required. Good lift. I think there may have been a plumbing problem as there was a very unpleasant smell on our corridor on arrival but this quickly disappeared. The carpet fitting on the first floor corridor looks a bit untidy.
Very freindly and helpful staff
Price, ambience, parking, Skipped breakfast as it did not offer jambon, fromage, d'oeuf....shame. Unable to get caraffe of wine at dinner - only served bottles.
Very friendly staff and the excellent restaurant prolonged the opening hours just for me as I arrived late. Outdoor pool was not open. TV in room was small and did not work very well. WiFi did not work.
Lovely atmosphere as not too trendy pool wonderful surprise No towels available for pool some of decor shabby breakfast could have been more extensive for 7 euros
nature and hear the dunky in the morning. :)
Friendly staff who could recommend activities in the area. Hotel prepared and delivered an excellent salad that we could eat in our room while the kids were in bed despite the hotel not having room service. As we have young children, we booked two connecting rooms which was convenient. Location was in the centre of the village. We stayed in this same hotel 7 years ago and it was already very dated and old fashioned. Nothing has changed in those seven years so the decor is awful, the bathrooms are a bit grim and the shower did not drain properly. The mattresses were also saggy. Hotel needs a revamp to bring up the standards. It is officially a 3 stars probably because of the pool and restaurant but furnishings and decor make it more or a 1-2 stars.
Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Christol, the location was excellent just a short walk to the town, found some great places to eat and drink and the setting at the lake was lovely. The Hotel was clean and friendly, ideal just as a base. Woud certainly go back to Bagnoles and Hotel Christol again. Only problem was the bathroom, the shower was quite small for my husdand who is over 6ft and a larger towel would have been handy, but that is a minor point.
The hotel was conveniently situated in the town and offered good value The room was very small
Easy to find, good central location. Room, although not very large had everything we needed, including good en suite facilities. For the price we paid - 46 euros excellent value for money, We were very fortunate and were able to park in the hotel grounds, but parking is very limited.
The room is clean and locates in the coutry side but has much choice for restaurants. The neighbour took a bath at midnight and so loud that we can not sleep well.
The hotel was very clean and the rooms comfortable enough for one night or a weekend. We didn't feel very welcolmed.
location and price no
Homely hotel - good value for money good location Bathromm facilites need updating
The oldy worldy charm of the hotel was lovely. We only stayed overnight but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The receptionist was very nice and spoke good English (unlike ourselves with the French speaking, shame on us). Breakfast was a little sparce but adequate... This is not a case of did not like but more for information - the hotel is on an slight and does have a few steps to the entrance so if you are on foot just to be aware..If however, you are in a car then you can go around the back where they do have a disabled access.
Friendly welcome and spotlessly clean. We didn't feel the breakfast was value for money.
in a good place to explore the town, an excellent restaurant nearby.Good breakfast and helpful staff.
Grill menu was excellent. Gardens great. Staff very helpful. Traditional vintage down to earth French hotel. Room too small for twin beds. Bathroom had mould on walls. Both bed and toilet need update and redecoration. Furniture basic.
the best part was checking out! the staff at the hotel were very unfriendly and offered no welcome or even local information about the town of domfront. the hotel was in dire need of a face lift, the rooms were pretty poor and our room was constantly swarming with flies, the toilet was appalling, there was a rubber contraption in the toilet bowl onto which any waste fell before being sucked through it in the fashion of an aeroplane toilet it was anything but hygienic and perhaps this accounted for the constant swarm of flies in the room!. i had booked four nights at this hotel but after the first night i checked out and continued my trip around normandy staying in the lovely logis hotel vert in mont st.michel before moving to the very impressive ibis hotel in caen centre.
The welcome was good. The food was excellently presented and prepared by the chef. Good cleanliness throughout the hotel. Clean linen. Service in the restaurant when from the patron was excellent. The gardens were lovely and well kept. The breakfast was enjoyable despite the patron remonstrating with staff in public whilst we were eating. Room 8 was very basic one star maybe and very drab. bathroom lighting no switch at the door. One bedhead light was arcing and dangerous to use ( fire risk ). Window paint was peeling. The rooms were in need of a revamp and redecorating. Faded glory and seen better days would seem an appropriate comment.
Handy stopoff if travelling through Normandy, in pleasant location and good value for money. Very good grill restaurant for dinner. The very strange electric toilet in one of the rooms. Scary.
Walking distance of the town centre, castle and facilities of Domfront. Reasonable price.
Our double room had only one mug, coffee and sugar packet, not "a welcome tray" as advertised. Noisy radiator kept us awake. En suite in a cupboard, could not sit on toilet unless the door open wide. Parking very limited, Rubbish and recycling bags piled up at entrance way.
I liked stylish room and that all fittings were of excellent quality. Wonderfully comfortable bed and peaceful room. Lack of hot drink making facilities in our room.
Exceptionally comfortable bed. Great restaurant. Good location. Helpful Staff. Slow getting to table for dinner, even though booked.
The bed was comfortable. The reception was a little indifferent, and, having waited over ten minutes to be served in the otherwise very pleasant outside bar/restaurant, we gave up and went elsewhere.
One of the best 2 star hotels we've ever stayed in. We can't praise it too highly. The room was ultra modern, well equipped and very clean. The restautant/food were of an extremely high standard even for France and the staff were friendly, competent and attentive. Any body who loves France will love this hotel None
A yery attractive town for an overnight stop. Bathroom
Modern, clean hotel which in our opinion was much better than a 2* hotel. Lack of service when we arrived. Nothing else to fault.
Excellent hotel with very high standard of accommodation. Friendly staff super food and all at a very good price.
Really clean comfy room with lovely wooden floors. Great location, looked like the best hotel in town. We had to change rooms because the noise from the bar stopped us sleeping. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful so this wasn't a huge problem and didn't spoil our stay.
The food in the Terrace was excellent, and an excellent value. Service, also very good. The biggest problem was that so few staff people spoke English. So, it was hard to get a sheet instead of a blanket, difficult to explain that we wanted a room without a cot in the middle of the room. It was hard to get information. And the hotel did not have an iron for guest to use. This is standard in the usa in hotel rooms. People who did speak English were helpful. And the wait staff were so nice, even though they did not speak English. Lovely town, lovely area for visiting.
It was a very nice experience Nothing
