friendly and helpful staff, nice building design, nice facilities, cleaniness
Very little. The atmosphere was very unfriendly. The beds were very hard and it is very isolated.
Overall, Il Piccolo Castello is well located for visiting the various attractions in the Tuscany reason. Hotel staff was friendly and provided good services. Breakfast buffet had good variety of food choices. Dinner was also excellent. (1) Air Conditioning - setting are automatically controlled and shut off overnight unless guest requested otherwise. Room can be hot and stuffy without air conditioning. (2) Some ants in room.
The best we liked was the staff and the location due to the nearby villages to be visited. Breakfast and toilett supplies could be better.
It's beautiful The staff weren't super nice and you had to pay for every single thing down to the pool towel
No storagge room
iot was terrible .. a holiday inn by teh side of theroad. we waited 45 minutes for our dinner due to a large party which keep us up to 1 AM terrible place. dirty room and run down never again we left early
Nice garden and pool, good breakfast. The room was cold, the heating was loud and inefficient.
Beautiful hotel, approx 1 km from Monteriggioni. Fabulous pool with jacuzzi inside. Lovely big rooms. No
quiet location, beautiful environment, delicious food, elegant furnishings of the room no internet connection in the room; long waiting time for a too big snack
Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere
Rolando at the front desk - sweet man! Tried to be so helpful. The pair of golden retrievers were precious too.
This is a wonderful property, located in Tuscany, near Siena, Florence and in the heart of the Chianti wine region. The staff was friendly, the food was great and the ambiance perfect
Nice place. Restaurant service was nonorganized and poor. The road to the hotel was bad.
We like garden, a lot of space for kids to play, pool, nice restaurant by the pool. Breakfast was excellent. No
Professional staff, beautiful surroundings, great breakfast, good location near Siena.
Beautiful settings, nice rooms and very nice grounds The hotel seems to cater mainly to functions. We stayed 2 nights and due to 3!! different functions in two days, it was not possible to either dine outside by the pool or use the terrace. Guests were not given any option but had to sit inside although it was almost 30 degrees outside!! Also, no effort was put into the buffet for house guests. No decoration, nothing. All the efforts were put into functions (Friday, Nissan and Walt Disney, Saturday night, wedding). If the hotel wishes to cater to large functions then it should have seperate facilities to do this and not at the cost of the hotel guests. Many guests were annoyed and outraged, especially Saturday night.
Great setting and beautiful grounds. restaurant service for evening meals was terrible. We never returned after the first night.
The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The staff was exceptional. Our every wish was fulfilled. I can not say enough about the hotel, staff and our stay. We absolutely loved it! To explore Tuscany you do need a car.
Very nice location and drive to the hotel. Easy to find and easy parking. Very authentic and "Tuscany-like". Quite simple, but good hotel with a nice owner.
Helpful and friendly staff. Prompt service. Clean, comfortable room. Pet-friendly. Good location for our needs.
the location' the friendly owner' the fppd
Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff and wait staff. Great breakfast. Close to the town. Old environment with the comforts of today.
lovely location Accomodation poor- damp room and damp bed. Restaurant was closed for evening dining. Breakfast poor. Service poor, no staff available overnight to help sort out problem with dampness.
I lliked the location, very romantic, beautiful place, and would go back there again, place to go if you want to chill out!
big room; very quiet; reserve covers in the cabinet (and believe me we needed them) were stinky (naphtaline) smell was so strong that we had a hard time to sleep... the hotel team provided fresh covers for the following night
Location wonderful, buildings inspiring, owner very kind and helpful Breakfast uninteresting - it would be easy to improve. Breakfast room dark with curtains. Atmosphere among waiters far too formal. Rates for regular rooms excessive (we stayed in reasonably priced annex)
A lovely well serviced hotel with complete old fashioned charm
As there was nothing there, we only went for walk & rested. The villa was to out of the way, the food was below standard & so was the room. Not a 1 star let alone a 4 star.
Comforatable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant terrace with garden and pool. Was surprised at first that the hotel had no restaurant, but plenty of restaurants on adjacent square so this was no problem.
The hotel is in a walled Tuscany hill town that is very quaint and charmming. N/A
We liked the whole package! The hotel is beautiful, the staff (including the owners) were very nice and helpful. The Hotel is located in the very center of the mini medieval town of Monteriggioni!
Conveniently located. Provides many options for travelers. Close to Sienna and Florence for those that want to visit these cities; however, is in the country so is convenient for trekkers.
Excellent location near Siena in very beautiful countryside, very friendly staff, very nice rooms Extremely expensive internet charges (only one option 60 min price 10 euro), glasses in room made from plastic, restaurant quite expensive
The quiet and peaceful location and environment.
Our stay was enhanced by the fabulous views of the countryside. The breafast spread was fabulous however we found the dinner a bit pricey for what you get. We just thought the decor was too contemporary for a castle. Would have been more charming if the furniture, lighting and soforth was indicative of the times. 15th century ambiance would have given it a more authentic feel.
Outstanding environment - great building Too much noise from surrounding rooms
The countryside setting and the historic buildings Interference from a conference
Great location in beautiful countryside; excellent terrace restaurant with attentive staff; luxury standard with well-appointed rooms and good pool, tennis and gym facilities. During our last day of the stay, a Hollywood film crew arrived to shoot a movie. This was disruptive and intrusive. We also discovered that we had been located out of the main hotel into converted outbuildings for our entire 6 night stay in anticipoation of the film crew arriving.
The location of the hotel was excellent. In a walking area, in Chianty wine district and near a lot of historical places like Sienna (in hot summers, you can probably escape to this place). The hotel service is kind and helpfull. Our stay was partly in low season and partly high season. In high season the price was higher and the service went down as if they did not expect more people. In the restaurant (of the hotel) this was annoying. We would recommend to stay in the restaurant once or twice during your stay. It was ok, but in a distance of a few km there are a lot of other nice restaurants.
Enchanting, rustic, excellent cuisine, breath-taking location
Unrivalled peace and tranquility in a unique setting which was the perfect base for sightseeing in central Tuscany.
The quietness of the estate, the swimming pool surrounded by the nature, the private terrace in our room Cheap furniture in our small room, staff not so friendly, quality of service average, not well kept (road to access the hotel, walk path around the hotel for instance), not fulfilling the expectations of a 4 stars hotel.
Superb location - midway between Florence and Sienna in beautiful quiet setting Going home!
scenery, food walking trails pools quiet authentic buildings & decor it was wonderful
The setting is beautiful and the hotel has a lovely tuscan country feel about it. The pool and gardens were nice and the breakfast good. Some of the rooms are close to the road but there is not much traffic until morning.
comfortable rooms, nice facilities, nice surroundings, quietness, friendly staff
Italy's best breakfast, nice staff, great garden. This can be recommended strongly
Nice, friendly and cosy hotel in a small tuscanese town. Several good restaurants within walking distance and more reachable with a car, which is recommendable otherwise also. Parking available. Silent surroundings, churchbells distant, not disturbing. Good european meal, inexpensive. Very good hotel, can be recommended without hesitation. Nothing to complain about.
frienddly,clean, good price,
Excellent countryside location, yet accessible to enchanting Tuscan city nothing
the staff were very frindly and the room simple but clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. the room was noisy from other room activity above and to the side
nice staff, great location, good breakfeast [but i miss the procuetto secco we use to get] have stayed here a number of times. will be back next year i presume. i wish they would install air conditioning in the rooms along the main road to florence so you could close the windows at night. because it gets very noisey at night with the traffic, barking dogs and crowing roosters.
Everything was fantastic, the hotel staff are very nice and the lovely lady that prepare brakefast is very sweet. Also tge location is ideal to drive around.
Very nice hotel the staff were very pleasant, helpful. Good price, very nice breakfast. Quiet, nice location.
Nice quiet location just a few km from Monteriggioni. Everything was great, but there is no restaurant at CB just breakfast so you have to book the village restaurant.
Beautiful location in the hills of Tuscany. Close to several medieval cities to visit and vineyards for wine tasting. Good restaurant (not attached to hotel but close). Staff was very accomodating and spoke fluent English.
The hotel's building was very unique and different making for a memorable experience. The room and en-suite were clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was fine and the hotel staff were more than happy to provide information about surrounding wineries and places to see. The hotel was well situated between San Gimignano and Siena and the Chianti area could be easily travelled to by car.
Although there was no employee in the hotel after 10 pm, the staff was very kind and friendly. Good Breakfast, however there was no orange juice in the last morning. There was no employees in the hotel after 10 p.m.. My room was in the attic, and there was a big stair to get there (I had three big baggages, as my wife and I were in Italy for 15 days). There was an opened pack in the wardrobe with old sliced bread (ughhhhh...). There was a sauna, but we would have to pay to use it! Wi-fi internet didn´t work. Not really a castle, but a big house with a cold water pool in the field.
Quiet area, easy to get to by car, friendly and helpful.
Everything. The place was set in beautiful countryside with stunning views. It was rustic and charming. The staff were delightful , friendly and helpful. It was peaceful and I loved it. No
Well situated, calm place, nice view on the valley. Classical "we cannot accept credit card, there is a problem in the machine, please pay cash!" problem..
I loved the view from our room and from the grounds. I loved the charm of the place itself. The woman managing on her own while the owners were away was exceptional in friendliness and cuisine and helpfullness. No
This is a very nice country mansion with a perfectly maintained territory with an olive garden, a pool, sitting areas. It has a wonderful view over Chianti vineyards and Castellina in Chianti. The personnel is very welcoming and makes you feel like at your friends' house Signage on the main road needs improvement: it says "Palazzolo" + the hotel sign, instread of "Podere Palazzolo"
Peaceful restful good location good centre for visiting Florence and Siena and all of Chianti lovely scenic situation no
It is a great place to stay in Tuscany. We had a nice spacious room with a splendid view (changed from a standard to a superior to have the view). It is quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Laura (the owner)) is there all the time and very kind and helpful. It is possible to have your dinner there, not a huge menu, but nice and simple food, prepared by the owner herself. For sure we will return when possible. We would have liked aircondition or just a fan in the room (maybe upon request it is possible to ask for a fan up front) Be aware that the owner does not accept kreditcards - only cash.
The lady in charge, kind and helpful
Beautiful views, great location for day trips to Florence, Siena, Cinque Terre
Staff very friendly and always wiling to help. Thought the accomodation was excellent value with very nice rooms and an exceptional restaurant. A particularly peaceful and relaxing stay.
Location and ambience No
The atmosphere was great! I love the sounds of nature and the countryside was wonderful.
The location was good as was the food. The vineyard atmosphere was appreciated. I would have like to have an English language TV news station.
very relaxing, nice views, fairly close to main tourist areas , a good retreat to return to after a days touring. Hotel very good, finding it a bit of a problem, maps shows hotel north of Castellina in Chianti on the very scenic SR222, but it is actually 8km south towards Siena.
Beautiful hotel in the Chianti region. Room was fantastic that over looked the vineyard. Food in the restaurant was lovely and affordable. Not to far away from the shops. Need a car to get to this hotel which we had hired.
The reastraunt was very good, all the Casafrassi staff were helpful although a little short on staff levels. . Not quite 4* luxury as intermated, and the grounds left a lot to be desired for 4* especially the pool and play areas , but reasonably good value for what we paid.
