We've been here many, many times. And we have always loved our experience.\n\nIt's discouraging when you have a server who isn't happy and is judgmental of the drinks and food ordered. The happiest our server appeared was when we got up from the table to leave the restaurant. 1.5 hours and $350 later.\n\nWe would like to have stayed as we have many times before. To continue with small plates & drinks. But he made it very uncomfortable. So we went next door and had a great time.

The hostess when I came in was friendly and attentive. I paired the cava with the Spanish Fried Chicken and Cornmeal waffles. Little light on syrup but got a little extra on the side. The blueberry bread went great with a glass of the Godello. Sage is a rockstar with his knowledge of the menu paired with his outstanding service. His recommendation of the butterscotch pot was a perfect ending.

I have wanted to go to AOC for a few years, but I don't live in the LA area. I recently decided to take a short trip, and going to AOC was one of the reasons I picked visiting LA. I've used the cookbook for a while, and thought the recipes were inventive, unique and incredibly delicious.\nI was not disappointed. I thought AOC was one of the finest restaurants I've eaten at in years. I know it may sound like an overstatement, but it was truly incredible. I can't wait to eat there again!

Great food, small plates. Wine is reasonably priced. Ambiance is nice, but they sat us in covered garden area and I ate next to a tree, which scraped against me throughout the meal. I'm sure regular diners get better tables. In the future I'll just sit at the warmer community table in main room. It should be noted we were on time for our reservation but had to wait for our table. Maybe the tree was being sharpened. That's the price of being a nobody in Los Angeles.

The waitress said everything is 'family style' to share. That is not the case! The tiny pasta to 'share' over $20, came out on very little plate hard to even share with 4 people more then a bite each.

We enjoyed our experience... the food was good but we may have over-extended ourselves with too many selections. Upon reflection, we should have kept it simple to enjoy the variety of flavors more. I would be curious to return on a non-Saturday night and maybe dine at the bar...

I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS RESTAURANT UNTIL MY CHILDREN BOUGHT ME A GIFT FOR MY BIRTHDAY. WE WERE A PARTY OF FIVE AND MY SON, IN AN EXCESS OF ENTHUSIASM, KEPT DESCRIBING EACH DISH AS IT ARRIVED WITH THE SAME WORD 'AWSOME'.\n\n IT STARTED WITH THE BREAD AND CONTINUED ALL THE WAY THROUGH DESERT. I NEVER ORDER OR EAT FISH BUT AS A FAMILY STYLE DINNER I WAS STUCK EATING FISH.\nAFTER A FEW BITES I COMMENTED 'THIS FISH IS AWSOME' . EACH OF THE MANY DISHES WERE INDEED EXCELLENT AND I RATE THIS RESTAURANT 'AWSOME'.

We had an exceptional experience at this wonderful restaurant. We ended up ordering four plates to share and each one was excellent. From the Spainish fried chicken to the fingerling potatoes to the scallops and salad. We each got our own dessert and the chocolate cake was worth finishing up an nice evening. The decor and atmosphere is also very nice and helps set a great mood.

The service, while usually steller, was terrible today. My food was cold and had to be sent back and the wait staff was inattentive. The worst part - I called ahead to say it was my wife's birthday, yet the waiter didn't mention it, or bring anything to the table to celebrate.\n\nI go to AOC at least 10-12 a year and to Lucques a few times a year too, but the lack of decorum on my wife's birthday means you've lost a well paying customer for life.

Wonderful staff. Hanger steak and Spanish fried chicken were first class. The scallops were good. On the other hand the faro and black rice was unnecessarily bland, and the market lettuce salad was so salty - kind of like ocean salt water - that it had to be sent back. It wasn't just a judgement call, it was as if someone tipped the salt shaker. Fish was indifferent. My guest was among other things a restaurant investor from New York, and he was appalled. It was my first time there, and the negative experience was a complete surprise given the bloodlines of the restaurant. I've enjoyed numerous meals at The Larder, don't know how they could have missed the mark here -- perhaps the artiness of the combinations took their eye off the fundamentals.

Food was good the ambiance was amazing. Our experience was ruined by lack of service. Our server took our order then we didn't see her till she handed us a dessert menu. She immediately dropped the check when we didn't order dessert without offering us coffee or an after dinner drink. She then failed to let us know she was leaving for the night so we sat there for awhile looking for our server because there was a fly in my friends drink and just simply felt awkward. The gentleman that finally came over to assist us was really nice but our experience was already bad.

This was my second visit to AOC. I was lucky to be seated next to the fireplace, especially on a chilly evening. The ambiance was warm and lovely - just what I was in the mood for. Service was fair - to be specific, the waiter did not ask how I wanted my meat cooked, took a break in the middle of my meal, had another waitress take over, and extremely rare skirt steak [$20 for a small plate] was delivered to my table, as well as unevenly cooked sweet potatoes [$14 for a small plate] (some were tender, some very under-cooked). And once those two plates were delivered, the sub waitress was not available, despite the restaurant being very sparsely populated. Also, the bread they charge $2 for (tacky, in my opinion) was cold and stale. When I brought this to the waiter's attention, he apparently took the bread that was stale and just had it toasted so it wouldn't be cold anymore. Not exactly a solution for stale bread. The thing is, if you're going to charge for bread, which I already think is a bad idea - it better be REALLY good freshly baked bread - not cold, stale bread. The one good item I ordered was the bacon-wrapped dates. They were delicious.

I've been wanting to try AOC for a while. After finally been given the opportunity, it did not disappoint. Our server provided great recommendations. My date and I decided to go with brunch that Saturday. We started with the bacon wrapped dates (standard, but always a good choice). I went with the grilled asparagus with polenta, roasted vegetables and soft egg. The polenta was creamy and the vegetables were hearty and filling without being too much. The egg topped it off. My date had the duck confit hash, wild mushrooms and poached eggs. It was more than enough for two people. Honestly the portions are a good size and I think we could have shared since it was brunch after all. If you have a really good appetite, I would say you could get a dish on your own. The ambiance is a very nice open concept where the restaurant flows into the back area where it's a large patio, but they've made it nice where it blends and feels like you are being transported into another space. I will be back again for other occasions.

We loved this space when it was Orso. We loved AOC in it's original iteration, elsewhere. Now having AOC in the old Orso space is a treat. Singly or together, we've probably dined here 20 times in the last few years, and it's always a blast. Great food, service, ambience…one of our favorite realizations of the small plates ideal, and always a neat range of wines by the glass, as well as some fine cocktails. Is it the best restaurant in LA? No, but it is among the best, particularly when considering consistency over a long period of time, and the pleasure to be had while hanging out. Viva AOC! Great service, great food and wine... this is a perfect spot to meet for a night out with friends. Bustling and festive but not too loud you can't hear each other talk. I hadn't been here in a few years and the quality has not diminished even slightly, if anything it has gotten better. Love the wine list, creative and comprehensive. Can't wait to go back.

Highly recommended to come and experience other takes on classical dishes. The food is really fresh and it has a different take with one or two ingredients that you would never imagine that they would go well together. We were a party of 4, had : Market Salad, Brussel Sprouts, Arroz Negro, Zuni Chicken ( over the top) , Kabocha Squash Gratin ( really love this one), Cauliflower Curry.Fried chicken, Parpadelle w/pecorino, scallops. For desert we had the apple crisps with Buttermilk Ice Cream ( WOW, I had to repeat the ice cream because it was out of his world).

While the brunch was good, it suffered from some odd combinations and not a lot of choices.\nHowever, the setting is beautiful. We a had small round table for 5 so conversation was easy, the patio is outdoors with a clear cover so it is fantastic and the tables are charming surrounded by lovely decor. The service was impeccable. Our waitress had a very natural conversation with us which I liked. She was perfect at coming to the table and timing everything but the thing she did that I loved and I wish more servers would clue in was she saw we were all having a lively conversation so she turned around and came to the table later. I am tired of being interrupted 3 times during a meal and Yeah finally someone knew not to do that.

I was already in love with Suzanne Goin. Lucques is my place. But to meet her other child, a.o.c... This must be true love.\n\nWhat an excellent dinner. We order a ton of food, obviously more than we could eat but again, everything sounded so tempting, just go for it and regret lat... no, no regrets. \n\nImbibe: in Silver Fox cocktail $14 and a glass of vermentino $12 (my first). We loved our drinks. \n\nStart with the must: 3 CHEESES ($15) A creamy Spanish blue cheese, Hollander cow cheese and a French sheep. They come with a side of walnuts/almonds and fig and rustic bread (not as hot/fresh as I prefer it, Lucques had better bread) They change the cheeses often it seems. Dairy at its best.\n\nI would skip the Jamon Serrano. (if you loved freshly sliced Jamon Iberico in Spain, you may not appreciate this one but if you haven't had that experience yet, try it) Did not blow my mind. \n\nThe Hanger Steak is a must, and it was as tender as any happy cow getting massaged for 12 hours would be. Juicy, medium rare $19 definitely would recommend this.\n\nSpanish Fried Chicken $14 (which has made its way up a top-list of fried chicken spots in LA) was very good, but I don't like it when I can taste the grease. The aioli was a total miss for me, so i just ate the juicy strips of chicken alone. They were nicely spiced and smoky. \n\nToo many proteins calls for vegetable rescue. The Vegetable Nicoise was hot, crunchy, deliciously dressed with an anchovy and basil sauce (very good) $12\n\nOverall, excellent dinner, attentive waitstaff, excellent menu. I loved 85% of it and would love to come back.\n\nValet $8, save yourself the pain of meters. You're already paying $50+ per person for dinner.

We tried five dishes and they were all delicious: shrimp mussels with chorizo, ratatouille, fried chicken, brioche with prosciutto and egg, grilled peach w/ ricotta and pistachios. The fried chicken was good but the chili cumin butter didn't do anything for it...we enjoyed dipping it in the chorizo sauce from mussel dish. All the dishes came out scattered to our table rather then at once which wasn't exactly a preference of ours since we didn't know which dishes we would like the most but overall very yummy and filling for two. A nice place for our anniversary.

Nice place for brunch with a nice patio and fireplaces.\nI started with their virgin cocktail (a mix of cucumber, green tea and Jalapenos) and it was quite tasty. Most places don't bother trying to do cool virgin cocktails so I was happy to see they had the option.\nWe ordered several dish to share: a farmer's plate (with ham, cheese, vegetables), avocado on toast and an extra cheese plate.\nFor the cheese plate you can choose between 1, 3 or 5 cheese and actually pick which one you want from their menu. A very good idea.\n\nButterscotch cream for desert was delicious. Keep in mind they have a sharing desert plate with 3 of their main desert - it's worth not eating too much so you have space for it.\n\nParking is a bit hard - we parked 2 blocks away. They have a valet on site (but $8!!)

First time dining at AOC since it moved from original location and new spot has more charm. Brunch was relaxing and peaceful, even with a large party near our table. Service was prompt but unrushed. Blueberry grilled bread was delicious. Vanilla french toast was slightly mushy but taste was good. Corned beef hash was yummy with mushrooms and delightfully seasoned potatoes. Mimosas were a bit crazily priced for brunch, leading to a little sticker shock at the bill, though. AOC joins Republique by including a Employee Health Care service charge to your tab (3 % I believe). We walked out having enjoyed our meal but still consternated about this additional charge. I suppose it could influence choosing the restaurant in the future...

What I appreciate most about this place isn't the food, which I enjoyed but not everyone in my party did, is the stellar service. Our server was fantastic, the support staff was excellent. The one exception was when a second busboy/support staff, not the one who had been supporting throughout the meal, offered to combine two people's dishes that looked the same but were in fact, different, into a single box to take home. We had ordered too much food so both were barely touched. Why would such a suggestion be made when the diners were not sitting next to each other and were different generation adults? That was an odd leap.\n\nI had requested a round table and to my surprise and delight, a round table with the right number of chairs for the entire group was ready and waiting for us. This shouldn't be surprising but lately, it really is a surprise when a restaurant really pays attention to a reservation. I would go back to AOC for that alone but the excellent service and food makes my return a no-brainer. I love this place and although I hadn't been there since they changed locations, all of my favorites were still on the menu. Love this place!

My husband and I have been eating at AOC for years but I am not sure how much longer we will go there. Although my lunch and wine selections were excellent, my husbands' were surprisingly poor. He ordered a tuna salad, and received an overdressed plate of greens and not much else. A sprinkling of tuna flakes was all that was added to the greens. For an entrée salad, served without even a slice of tomato, it could have been better. And to drink, we ordered a glass of Roussanne. The wine we received was a strange orange color and lacked the wine's typical color and flavor. For a restaurant that supposedly specializes in wine, that kind of selection is a little less than what we were hoping for. So, even though my wine and food selections were excellent, it will probably be a while before we return.

I took my girlfriend and some of her friends to AOC for a birthday dinner, and we all had a really nice meal together. The food was overall really solid (the 'Ode to Zuni,' Spanish Fried Chicken, and Chanterelle Focaccia were particularly noteworthy), although I wouldn't recommend coming here with a larger group (more than 4) as it was difficult to split several of the dishes and other dishes came up pre-split in fours. This seemed odd considering we weren't hiding that we had six people at our table, so then it may splitting it up an endeavor. Overall, I'd recommend AOC for its food and ambiance, but for a smaller, more intimate group.

Over the years, this has been one of our very favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The new location offers a lovely outdoor patio (with fireplace and heaters when needed). It is a very relaxing vibe. The wine list offers many boutique wines that you'll find to be excellent as well as reasonably priced. The wine by the glass list is smaller than it use to be, overall quite good options and reasonable. Bar makes some interesting, creative drinks if you are into that sort of thing. As for food, bacon wrapped dates are great starters, order more than one! Chicken liver crostini is a fav, as is any thing 'cheeks' and all the salads are unique and flavorful. The squash blossoms were a fav new find this visit. The fried chicken is nice and spicy but this visit, we found it was dry and not as moist as it use to be served. \nAnother disappointment was the 3 cheese board, more bread than cheese , a couple walnuts and two small bits of dried fig. Now here is my fussy side: the salt and pepper shakers were STICKY, staff should pay attention to this detail and clean them. No one wants to touch sticky shakers! I got up and washed my hands after that. They use to use small dishes w/salt - so perhaps staff isn't trained to clean this part of the table regularly. Another fussy point, the white towel napkins left lint all over our black pants. If you want to offer this type of white napkin, perhaps offer a black napkin too. I have to clean our cloths to remove all the nasty lint. CAVEAT: Be prepared to see a 3% surcharge added on your entire bill which covers healthcare costs for the employees - the dessert menu notes this in fine print, no one will verbally tell you unless you ask. The more you eat, the better their healthcare fund.

Absolutely love AOC! Atmosphere is chic yet casual. Service is casual yet polished. Menu is awesome and the execution is delicious. Beautifully presented, exceptional flavors. From our arrival, the hostess took great care of us ensuring that we were happy. She is delightful. We waited at the bar while the staff prepared the patio for dinner. The bartender was friendly and took care of helping us order a couple appetizers to balance our drinks. We sat in the patio, it was cold outside but the heaters and fireplace, along with overhead patio cover, ensured a very comfortable environment. Our server was so nice. Although there was a very large group next to us, the server was attentive to us. At first the food took some time to arrive due to the large group order being handled first. What turned out is that once that group was served, our dinner was paced perfectly and the experience quite enjoyable. Managed well. Thank you Suzanne Goin.

The hostess forgot we were at the bar waiting for our table which we had a reservation for. The bartender was wonderful and helpful making sure we were taken care of. The server for our table was forgetful and discourteous. When we wanted to order 3 desserts because we wanted to taste each, she suggested not to because it wouldn't be good to finish it all. It was offensive and made me feel uncomfortable and frankly fat. It was my friend's birthday, visiting LA from London and we wanted to just try several desserts that looked appealing on the menu. It took several attempts to get her attention to get the check. When we finally got it, it wasn't our bill. It took a bit longer to get her attention again just to get the correct check. I tipped her 18% but I regret it after the fact. I understand serving is a profession but I felt like she didn't feel we were worth her time.

Love Love Love AOC for their food and have been a long term diner at the old and new location. However my last visit left a bit to be desired in the service department.\n\nArriving on time for a 7:45 reservation I was told I could not be seated until my entire party had arrived--My entire party was 2 people. When 'my entire party arrived' 2 minutes later. We were told to wait while another party of 2 walked in after my friend. \nFollowing another 5 minutes we were finally taken to the only 2 top visible right next to a post and the noisy bar. \n\nI completely understand the restaurnat not wanting to waste valuable real estate on a big table when the entire group doesn't arrive. But honestly 1 or 2 person parties will still be seated at a 2 top. Why make the first person wait? \n\nGreat food but for the price and service, they will not be my first dinner choice.

After seating us, she asked us again what our name was under for the reservation. It was packed for a Sunday night so I know they were busy, but it seemed like the staff was shuffling around. After ordering, it took about 20min to just get bread and charcuterie plate. The person giving us the dish just 'dropped it off' at the corner without explanation or putting it in the middle of the table. The timing of the dishes were off, some took longer and then the main dish came too early (before a smaller dish) but when we got it (pork), it was cold! She offered to warm it up. So we waited another 15 min but by then my appetite had been compromised. From the looks of the people sitting next to us, it looks like we got someone else's dish because the other table waited a long time for the same dish. Overall, service seemed a little disorganized and the staff seemed stressed out. Sadly, this was out third time coming here and might be our last.

Great in every way, except for the food, which was uneven - a couple of outstanding dishes, and a few that were forgettable. \n\nThe clams and the brioche were fantastic. The zucchini blossoms were bland and the pork belly was weird and kind of bland too. The duck confit was competent, but uninspired. In between, the curry cauliflower was pretty good. \n\nOn the other hand, service was excellent, and the room was beautiful - we were in the 'wine room,' which is upstairs, and our table was by a balcony, with a view of the dining room and street below. The wine list is huge, with many options for any budget. We got a Cote du Rhone for $43, and it was quite good. What's especially nice if that if you buy a bottle, they let you open one of your own for free. \n\nOverall, it was a pleasant night out - had been wanting to try AOC for ages. When we checked back about one item, which we were craving, she claimed we never ordered it. Still didn't get the dish even with the second order of it. She barely checked on us. Since it was getting busy and even worse service, we decided to get our check and leave, hungry. Took quite some time to get the check. The food was good but the staff was horrible. I brought my 91 year old friend to AOC, one of her favorite neiborhood restaurants. On my reservation I noted that this was a birthday lunch for a 91 year old woman. The hostess greeted us. She was lovely and said Happy Birthday to my friend. It was never mentioned again. Unlike every other restaurant that knows it's a celebratory occasion, no dessert was sent over after our entrees were cleared, other that the dessert we ordered and paid for. I found that to be a major faux pas. \n\nThe food was very good. Our server, Jaime, took his time getting around to us, and when he finally did, he would not bother to check with the kitchen to address my questions. He rarely checked on us during the meal, leaving the empty plates to pile up for a 20-30 minutes before someone else finally cleared them.\n\nThe food was disappointing as well: the lamb ribs were overcooked so that there was hardly anything left on the bones, while the arroz negro and the polenta platter were over-salted -- very surprising for a well-regarded restaurant group. The polenta platter was served last, which defeated the purpose, as it was the primary starch of the meal.\n\nAs for the ambience, the dining room was noisy to begin with, and the rock music that they played in the background was totally unsuitable for fine dining. The execution was amateurish and unprofessional almost throughout.

Despite having been seated promptly at 10:00 for my brunch reservation and having ordered my drink immediately, I waited literally 30 minutes for my drink to arrive. The waiter did not even take our orders for some time after bringing the drinks. That our waiter was distracted (by what, I'll never know, as the place had just opened) was quite obvious, as he took my order, then asked my friend for his order, and then, mystifyingly, asked me, 'And nothing for you?' as if I had not just told him my order 15 seconds prior. Then, the food finally arrived after 11:00, after we'd already been there over an hour. Even more disappointingly, both of our dishes were cold, apparently having been sitting there, waiting for pickup, for some time. The food might have been quite good (one had to use some creativity to imagine how those poached eggs and duck confit might have been were they at least warm), but I'll never know, as I'm not likely to return to a place that is so expensive yet so poorly managed in terms of waitstaff competence. An embarrassment to LA's food scene and the beautiful space in which it sits.

When I was a true foodie and went to hot new places within the first three weeks, I went to AOC. My date hated the menu so we went elsewhere. I was looking forward to dine there for real. The experience fell flat. \n\nThe waitress was fine, but I expect better in a top tier place. Second dishes coming before we finished the first is not acceptable even in a small bites place when the table is too small to accommodate them. \n\nThe food was way too salty. I am sensitive to salt and give the kitchen lots of leeway in that regard, but every dish except the cauliflower was too salty. \n\nThe manager also fell short. I ordered the scallops because the menu stated 'bay scallops,' I love bay scallops, and they are rarely on a menu because sea and diver scallops make a prettier presentation. The scallops that arrived were large sea scallops with the woody fiberous consistency that they often have. The waitress asked how things were and I said I would eat them, but they were not like any bays I have ever had ever had. (I grew up eating them in the northeast when they were pricier than sea scallops) The manager ( whom I later learned had been alerted to the above) came by, but instead of discussing the scallops, asked a vague, general 'how are things' question. Not good customer relations for a top flight restaurant.\n\nThe waitress later said that the chef assured her that they were bays, but could understand that I might have mistaken then for sea scallops. Please. I have been eating scallops for more than 55 years, I buy them in fish markets, if these were bay scallops, they were the only ones in that time that looked and felt like classic sea scallops. Anyway, the point is not the scallops, it is the fact that if the manager is told that there is a problem, she needs to ask about the problem, not ask a nebulous general question that might be asked of any diner.\n\nAfter all the years, what a let down.

It felt they wanted us to keep ordering drinks since the server came up to our table several times to ask us if we needed more drinks before they brought our food out. I have heard this to be a common practice for restaurants to do since alcohol is what makes them money but I didn't expect aoc to be so obvious about it. Despite our server was a nice person we had to wait for 15-20 mins to see our server's appearance anywhere near us throughout the entire time. Very nice embience during the day, the half outdoor garden-like seating area is a good escape from the harsh city look in LA. Food tasted great however a little on the creasy side. Would recommend for foodie to try.

We had a nice dinner and enjoyed the peach salad with burrata cheese and roasted pistachio. The ambience was very pleasant and soothing especially next to the fireplace. \nService was okay. Our waiter was friendly but was slow to come around and seemed too distracted. Our flat iron steak was cold when it came out but didn't have the energy to\ncomplain because our waiter took forever to come around. We just wanted to pay our bill and get going. We regretted ordering dessert because that took another 20 minutes to get.

Loved the roasted peach and burrata salad. The foccacia with fig, etc. was also delicious. We had the Spanish fried chicken which was juicy. Not as crispy as we expected, and a little oily, but tasty. The black rice with octopus tasted good, except it was a tad burnt at the bottom. The restaurant removed it from our check which was very nice of them.\nBeautiful room, and the patio looked lovely. Next time, we will request to sit outside. Great service, yummy cocktails.

This place used to be good but has really gone downhill. This time I had a reservation and though the place was half empty the hostess said I needed to wait while they prepared 'our' table. We stood there awkwardly in the entrance for 10 minutes and then the hostess returned and asked us if we had a reservation as though we had not spoken to her just 10 minutes ago. Clearly she had forgotten we were standing there. At that point she seated us. Our waitress was excellent but the food was not. I ordered a simple breakfast plate and received overcooked poached eggs to the point of them being hard boiled, two scrawny red half pieces of bacon, and 7 large hard potatoes that took up about 95% of the plate. If you would like a plate of hard potatoes and a couple overcooked eggs and some sad and small portioned undercooked bacon, I suggest you go here. The waitress was visibly sad to see my overcooked eggs and instantly offered to replace them but the meal was still sadly disappointing and no one but this waitress seemed to care.

We went in with high expectations but were pretty disappointed given all of our friend's recommendations. We ordered fried chicken and waffles, and waited almost 45 minutes for it to show up. When we got it, it was cold, so it's like it was sitting out there on the kitchen counter for a long time.\n\nWe paid almost $80 for this meal; I'd expect the fried chicken to be hot and fresh. It wasn't even warm, it was COLD!\n\nThe service was horrendous as well. The servers were friendly and everything, but it was so hard to get their attention as they were so busy. Honestly, if you're going to be that busy, then hire more employees. I waited 1 hour, just to get my water glass refilled. \n\nI might give it another shot, but seriously, with so many different restaurants out there to choose from, first impressions really do last.

We loved the salad of persimmons, pomegranate, pepitas, and arugala, so much so that we will get individual salads next time. The Spanish fried chicken with romesco aioli and chili-cumin butter was amazing, so much so that we had to share a taste with the neighboring table. Everything on the menu sounds so good but how will we ever not order the persimmon salad and the Spanish fried chicken. \nThe Chupacabra is an excellent cocktail, drank two, with mescal, pumpkin, tequila, lime, and maple. Enjoyed the special eggnog cocktail too.\n\nLooking forward to brunch and a warm, sunny day on the patio.

The waiter was super nice about it, but the person that brought the dish back from the kitchen seemed to be irritated.\nOther than that the dish and the experience was great!\nThis might sound dumb of me to complain about, but if the menu lists poached eggs, and the plate is 18 bucks, they should serve the dish as they are supposed to.

This restaurant had been recommended to us so we were very excited. I called two weeks prior to request a stable on the lovely patio but when we arrived they told me I was beat out by others. This I do understand as the patio is less noisy and really pretty. \nFrom the minute we sat down the service was intermittent at best. At one point we called over another waiter ; he said he would get right on it. Instead he told our server so we waited again for her. \nThe food, tapas style was good but it is very discouraging to spend $400 on a dinner and have really bad service. Our server was very pleasant, chatty but there were long periods of time where we sat and waited. We often couldn't see her anywhere in the dining room. This is very discouraging.

I had heard so many good things about AOC that I felt confident about recommending it as a central meeting place for four of us. Unfortunately, every one of us was disappointed in what we ordered. The French toast was a huge slab of stale bread with two berries on top. My AOC brioche was a similar huge slab of dry brioche with a thin layer of Gruyere, a mountain of frisee and a rubbery egg on top. My friend had a cheese plate that would have left a church mouse praying for more food. Her mother had three sides, one of which, the potatoes, she found inedibly overcooked. And her cocktail was so spicy she couldn't drink it. The service was great, though, if rather absent. Which was fine, because we wanted to relax and talk. Two of us had glasses of Cava, which was very good and reasonable. All in all, though, especially for the restaurant's reputation and prices, it was very disappointing. If it had been just one disappointing dish, I might have said I'd try it again. This was 0 for 4, though.

I really wanted to love this restaurant. It was previously (many years ago) a well known restaurant that left me with lots of fond memories. With that said, I was disappointed. The place was less than half full at lunchtime and my husband and I had to wait about 20 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us. Once she did, she was attentive though. The menu was forgetable (to me). I ended up eating a burger and fries as nothing else looked good to me...and I am not a fussy eater. Oh, well. Onwards and upwards.....

AOC was recommended by a local resident who was a friend of my dining partner. We were in LA for a Conference and only had one evening to dine on our own. From the moment we entered AOC we felt as though we had made an excellent choice. There was on option to sit outside by the fireplace or inside, both areas offering an inviting atmosphere. From the moment we stepped inside we were treated as though we were special guests. \n\nOur waitress Monica could not have been more pleasant. She almost seemed happy to see us even though it was our first visit. She asked if we were familiar with the menu and the unique format of ordering our meal. The dishes were small portions meant to share with the other members of your party, similar to a Tapas restaurant, however the menu offered some of the most unique item options you would find in other establishments. From the incredible bacon wrapped dates to the dessert platter, (very rich in chocolate I might add), we raved over each item. Monica recommended we choose five to six menu items for a party of two. We chose the following: (Bacon Dates; marinated olives; the squash recommended by Monica which was excellent; veggies; chicken strips and steak bites) \n\nTwice our table was visited by other members of the staff to inquire about our meal and the experience. They were not intrusive, in fact quite the opposite. They treated us like we were regular patrons that came in frequently as opposed to out of town one time visitors. After our experience with the service, the atmosphere, the food and the attention our only wish was that we could in fact be regular customers. Even the valet attendant had a smile on his face and engaged in conversation. \n\nNeedless to say we would highly recommend AOC to anyone looking for a wonderful, intimate dining experience. Forget the traditional steak and seafood mega restaurants. At AOC you will find a unique menu and an atmosphere quite unlike the typical restaurant experience.

Since we were having lunch, we didn't have wine, instead we had green tea, mint, and cucumber iced tea with lunch. If one is not having wine, I recommend this iced tea - it is unusual and quite good. Nowadays, almost every new restaurant in LA serves small plates. So it's easy to overlook the fact that A.O.C. started the trend. I have been to its former location when it first opened, but was not too impressed by the experience, But since it relocated to the current location, A.O.C. is definitely one of my favorite dinning spot. The small plate menu is a classic- tasty and well rounded with vegetarian, meat and seafood dishes. The wine-list is still one of the best in LA. We did not have desert, but based on what I observe around our table, we may need to save room next time. Most importantly, unlike many trendy restaurants in LA these days (and especially in the Venice neighborhood), the service at A.O.C. is accommodating and friendly. Finally, their lushly landscaped patio makes for a wonderful dining experience for summer nights.

I had told the hostess that I was having a business meeting, so they put us upstairs in a great little room lined with wine storage, right next to an open window looking down on the courtyard. Great table! Wine was terrific, as always. The food wasn't as good as I remember it being back in the old location.

Service was not up to par. On a Monday night the kitchen was backed up. Our appetizer of clams took over an hour. I noticed our server kept pushing items on the menu that were easier to make as she said the oven was backed up. I'm sorry but I did not come to A.O.C just to have the cheese platter and sautéed cauliflower. Maybe they were short staffed ? On the bright side our wine bottles were amazing !!! Atleast we drank well. Once the roast chicken did come out it was so dry!! Hope they read their reviews and try to fix certain things.

The food was delicious. Small plates to share with everyone in our party. Our waiter never came back to see if our food was as expected. We ate our salad and appetizers but waited almost 30 minutes for the short ribs and fingerling potatoes. When we tracked down our waiter we were told the short ribs take 20 minutes to prepare. We said it had been more than 45 minutes since they were ordered. I would recommend a.o.c. for the food, but the service needs work. Our waiter should have been more attentive. It seemed like he forgot about our order.

I don't usually write reviews but I thought that I should this time.\nI have been to AOC a number of times both at the old location and new and have always had great experience until last Monday. It could be that the kitchen had an off day or that brunch there is an afterthought, but the bread served, even as toasted ,seemed stale, the bacon wrapped dates, a staple at AOC for years, were I swear, left over from last week and seemed to have been the victim of reheating once too often and the Duck Hash as way short on duck and not really very good. I would have rated it worse but my wife enjoyed her Brioche and the Staff was attentive and friendly as usual.

Outdoor dining is one of the great things about LA, and A.O.C. does not disappoint. I was very happy with our patio table for five. The food was very good, as was the service. But, perhaps what I liked most was that the noise level wasn't bad. It was quiet enough to tell stories and laugh with friends. Inside, we saw many couples in the window 'table for two' seats. They, too, were enjoying conversation. Also, the management does a great job of hiring. The servers and staff really care about the people. I hate going to places that act as if they are doing you a favor. A.O.C. isn't like that at all. I'll be back!

We've been to AOC over a number of years: at their original location and their new one. The food and wine list are spectacular and the service always excellent.\nSince they specialize in small plates to share, we always just order a whole bunch of different things --- and in past visits the pacing was spot-on --- i.e., bring out the various orders one at a time --- as we finish up the previous one.\nThis time, however, they really rushed things out --- nevertheless, the food was still hot and excellent --- but the table was just a bit too cluttered at times. Still --- an excellent experience overall --- and still a favorite of ours when we visit LA.

We celebrated my birthday Saturday with another wonderful dining experience on the patio at AOC. Everything about the evening was perfect from our able tucked in a cozy corner that offered a little privacy but also made us feel like we were definitely part of the scene. Our server's recommendations for cocktails and shared plates were perfect and the som helped with a terrific Burgundy that was a perfect match for what we ordered and din't break the bank. While everything from the cavolo nero, to the fingerlings, the hangar steak, citrus salad and charcuterie were exceptional, the spanish fried chicken is worth the trip from the west side (or anywhere else for that matter). Butterscotch pot du creme and a terrific Brochette d'acqui from Braida topped off a perfect celebration...and we were there nearly four hours and never felt rushed. Truly professional.

That can be a challenge at a small plates restaurant but she was spot on. some notable dishes included grilled arctic char, pappardelle with wild mushrooms and arroz negro with squid. The ambiance was great. I always loved this location. I have dined at AOC on numerous occasions and the dinners were always superb. This is the first time I've had brunch there, and it was disappointing. The ingredients did not seem to mix well, the flavors were off and the meal was not up to the standards of the restaurant's dinner menu.\n\nI had the duck confit hash and a side of blueberry toast. The duck was decent, but most of the rest of the hash consisted of large chunks of potato. The blueberry toast tasted more like tart lemon than sweet blueberry.\n\nMy friend has the ricotta toast. The bread was stiff and hard to cut and was accompanied by soggy, uncooked onions.\n\nWe'll probably go back for dinner, but I doubt we'll be repeat customers for brunch.

We booked our reservation long in advance for a small group (6) for a very special occasion. I received a phone call confirming the reservation the day prior. We specifically requested the patio, and the woman who called to confirm said she absolutely had that set aside for us. When we arrived, that was not the case. The woman who was working the hostess desk said it would be a long wait and we could sit inside. I explained to her the situation and phone call the day prior, and she very rudely basically said nothing she could do and we could either wait, or take inside. Then a man came over and explained the same thing again, but in an even more rude tone. I told him about the conversation the day before and he interrupted me and in a suspicious tone asked her name. I did not know, nor did I think I needed that information. He began to tell me that was impossible because they don't do that or guarantee. I explained that she did confirm and was told again how wrong I was. We were told to take a table inside, and would then have to move. While we ended up eventually outside, the rudeness of both of those employees will absolutely guarantee that we never go back, or recommend this restaurant.

We were highly recommended to try this restaurant so we made a reservation at 8pm for the 3 of us. When we arrived, we were seated promptly. A server appeared eighth away but 1 of our party had left to use the restroom so the other 2 of us ordered waters and a coffee to start. It was almost 15 minutes before the waters and coffee and server came back. At that time, she informed us that we needed to order at least 9 items as they are all tapas sized and a little on the pricey side but it was the way she stated it that bothered us. We then were deciding on a glass of wine or a bottle, and almost another full 15 minutes passed before she came back and at that, it was only because she saw the manager come to our table. At which point, she nearly ran up to the table. So we basically sat unattended for about 30 of the 35 minutes we were there. We offered to pay for the coffee but decided to head down the street to The District instead. We had wonderful service and food there.

We went to AOC for my Mother's Birthday and we specifically told the Host we were there for my Mom's Birthday. On a special day like this, I would believe the waiter would be a little bit more attentive than a regular dine in situation but the service was pretty much horrible. It could have been due to another big party my waiter was assigned too but I shouldn't have to wave my arms multiple times to get his attention, which I hate doing. Half of our dishes were great and half of our other dishes were really salty and I understand it does happen because I've been in the restaurant industry for a long time but when the broccoli showed up, I had to say something because it was so salty our whole family cringed. Plain and simple, it was not edible. After multiple tries in getting our waiters attention again, we got our broccoli replaced with no hassle. We got a new side of broccoli and just like before it was super salty. I honestly think they rinsed it and brought back out to us. I don't know who was on the line that night but that cook probably forgot that a vegetable like broccoli soaks up and retains sodium but I still want to give them the benefit of doubt and believe they worked up a new broccoli dish but misused the salt again. Anyway, its such a disappointment because I've been dining at AOC since their first location and I had nothing but compliments for this place.

While dining here we couldn't help but hear conversation around us where one wealthy person was'one upping' the next wealthy person the entire night. My wife and I are in our upper 20's and we were a bit out of place here on a Saturday night. Though we felt respected by the servers, it seemed like other patrons were far more important to the staff. It was a busy night, but the restaurant had the feeling of being understaffed and overcrowded. We did enjoy our food and I would say it was better than I expected. Food was good but I felt like the server was super pretentious in discussing 'the dynamic of our meal'. We had a party of 4 and weren't crazy hungry, so ordered the Farmer's Platter, Spanish fried chicken, lamb ribs, potatoes, and young broccoli. When we asked if that was enough, he suggested that we order 2-4 plates per person, which seemed insane. There is no way we could have eaten 8 plates total, much less 16. We could have eaten another dish or 2 but definitely no more than that. Felt the server was upset and judgmental about this. Also, would have been nice if he mentioned there were only 2 lamb ribs per order because those are not an easily shareable dish. Overall I think service detracted from the total meal, which was delicious.

The food exceeded my expectations! I have the AOC cookbook. I enjoy the history, descriptions and recipes and was not disappointed in any of the small plates of incredible array of flavors.\nService was thoughtful. My only regret is that I live 300 miles north and will not be able to dine there often.

We had lunch (had been here for brunch on 2 prior occasions). The food was excellent (both in taste and presentation). The waiters were very nice but they did bring me the wrong salad. I am so lame I was about half done before I realized my error (in reality my daughter noticed it) but they brought me the correct salad without charging me for the first one. They were all over us for water refills until we really needed water. Buy very kind. Parking is not great. I don't like to have valet's park my car but street parking is not plentiful. I would definitely go back but only if had other business in the area.

As a foodie, vegetarian, and big fan of restaurants that offer small plates, I often struggle to find restaurants that my fast food loving, meat eating, and very hungry boyfriend both enjoy. So I was thrilled when both he and I loved the food. The menu was both forward thinking as well as approachable. The food was flavorful without being overly complex, and the portions were small enough to allow for trying a variety of dishes while still plentiful enough to satisfy even the most insatiable eater. The atmosphere also provided a comfortable environment for discussion while still feeling appropriate to the caliber of the food; a great dining experience. All of this to say, we will be back.... and hopefully next time the server will bring that second glass of wine that I ordered (my only complaint!)

Went for a special night out and wasn't disappointed. It was loud and we were seated next to a big boisterous group, but they minded their manners and we were ok w/ the noise level. That said, the food made up for everything - we ordered 6 or so plates and everything was out of this world delicious. All around one of the best meals we've ever had, from start to finish. When the bill came I thought, for the quality of the food this seems like a great value - so, bravo. Overall I'd prefer a slightly quieter, lower-key vibe, but you can't win them all. Definitely recommended.

Some problems with this meal, mostly w/service. We were completely forgotten by our waitress, once she took our orders. Never received bread. Never had waters refilled. Never asked how our meal was or if my husband wanted another glass of wine. Never asked if we wanted dessert. We had to find someone else to get our bill for us. \n\nWe ordered the small plate of lamb ribs to share as a starter. It was set on our table and our entrees immediately arrived. We asked to hold entrees until we had finished the lamb ribs. Server took the entrees away but then brought them directly back to us. \n\nThere was a little snafu with the bill that was quickly resolved. We received a bill to sign that was higher than the original one presented to us. Again, resolved quickly.\n\nAt the end of the meal we were just bummed out. \n\nGoing back? No. I'm pretty sure AOC will do just fine without us. They made that pretty clear.

Went with colleagues at a convention in LA. Due to rain we ate inside where the noise level was high enough to interfere with conversation. Food was great--especially chicken, duck thighs, asparagus, squash, and lamb skewers. Large platter of pork shoulder, sausage and potatoes was good but not great. Drinks were imaginative and good, whereas wines were pricey. Apple crisp dessert was excellent but chocolate dessert was only ok. This is an expensive small plate restaurant and is best enjoyed outside.

Valet as always beats the hell out of finding a carpark. \n\nService was great. Good advice, and snappy pace. \n\nA pile of plates kept coming, and disappearing into happy mouths. The pork rillettes artistically served on a plank, had the right balance of meat and fat and the crusty country bread was the perfect choice to enhance the flavor.\nThe hanger steak melted in the mouth, the fingerlings potatoes smothered in creme fraiche were delicate.\nI love the safran aioli accompanying the arroz negro.\nThe coconut bavarian bar was light and the coconut sorbet flavor was rich.\nThe 'green goddess' cocktail was intriguing, the heat of the jalapeno suddenly revealing itself at the end of the sip, the mix was visually attractive , delicious and made you want to have a second one!\nThe staff was very pleasant, knowledgeable but not overbearing.\nIt was our first time, it will not be the last!

Perfect for a group with various tastes, since the small plates approach gives everyone the opportunity to try something--and we had no problem getting rid of all the food on all the plates since everyone found a favorite! \n\nThe cheese selection we had was particularly outstanding, as were the gi-normous seared scallops (excellently cooked BTW).\n\nDon't skip the warm apple crisp for dessert--cooked much more like a tart tatin than a typical crisp, it goes above and beyond many I've had and was hands down worth every calorie.\n\nOur server was shadowed by a 'server apprentice in training' but both were wonderful in terms of pacing, advisement, and good humor. Was not terribly busy and we had a reservation but were told to wait at the bar because 'the server had just been sat.' To be honest, the seating organization of a restaurant is not of my concern. After 20 minutes waiting at the bar, I went back to another host and they said, 'oh yes, of course we can seat you.' So it was a rough start. Servers seemed disorganized as well. We ordered drinks and brunch. The drinks had no flavor at all. I ordered a tequila drink because I think I have every single one known to man. This had mescal but that it all it seemed to have. Eggs came and were just ok. They served toast but no jam or butter. When I asked for both, I was told the 'jam would cost.' Really, at a brunch place they charge for jam? I said 'ok.' Jam seemed like it was out of a jar. My friend ordered some sort of scramble and he barely ate any of it. Said afterward it was terrible. We will never go back.

All in all a very disappointing experience. The chicken appetizer had no flavor at all. Seriously underseasoned. The 'salad' (aka a bunch of arugula on a board) was overseasoned with lemon juice to the point of being completely inedible. The budino was old, and had a skim on the top from having been in the refrigerator too long. Finally the service was awful and the waitstaff couldn't have cared less about us. Then we got the bill. We were charged for an entree we didn't have and overcharged for dessert. They did adjust the bill, but after the terrible lunch adding an additional 20% in error was not a good end note. I had heard so many good things about this restaurant. I was really expecting a great meal. This one wasn't even up to mediocre.

Our Brunch was very good but not remarkable. Food is well prepared, service is good, price is reasonable but it somehow lacks the charm & seems like a generic, upscale restaurant anywhere. I remember Orso being much more interesting with better design & ambiance. Could be just whiny nostalgia....

I miss the cheese bar at the back of the old AOC, but the outdoor area is much prettier here. A great place to relax with some wine. The inside had a much better vibe at the old location, they should remodel to try to recapture that feel. So for now, I suggest sitting outside. \n\nStill a great selection of cheese and wine and a great place. I went on a Sunday so maybe the chef was different because some of the dishes were not as good as I remember.

We went for a late lunch on a Saturday. The hosting staff were wonderful and accommodated our wishes because we were with someone who had a guide dog. The wait staff seemed unable to answer many questions. Food was brought without accompanying sauces or raw when ordered medium. Hence there was a lot of waiting for corrections while the others waited. The salads were fantastic. But the main lunch dishes were all mediocre. Of course, the drinks were excellent, because it seems to be a focus of the restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant because there are so many better places in LA for what we paid. No matter what the price, good service is imperative and these lunch servers were below average.

Food was all excellent apart from 1 dish- Spanish chicken pretty average. But overall we loved it and would go back in a flash. Order the peas! Best I have ever tasted! And the dates with Parmesan wrapped in prosciutto!

Our party of three for an early Sunday dinner was seated at the worst table in the house (a table basically for two, wobbling as it straddled the indoor and outdoor spaces.) That was, however, the worst part of the evening. We had a very helpful and friendly waiter who guided us through the small plates menu. We had a number of dishes, all of which were fabulous, including the bacon wrapped dates, fingerlings with crème fraiche and chives, Spanish fried chicken, veal saltimbocca and an enormous dessert plate with samples of all the desserts. The wine list had some interesting selections. The place was packed by the time we departed. We’d add it to the list of restaurants not to miss on a visit to LA.

Absolutely beautiful outdoor courtyard with trees, fountains and the most perfect natural light welcomes you. The chairs were comfortable which may seem like a frivolous thing to note, but for patio seating so often the weather resistant chairs are hard and uncomfortable and don't lend themselves to spending more than an hour sitting in them.\n\nThe service was phenomenal, the food was incredible and the wine list impressive. The food, service, and comfort here are terrific. Not pretentious... Just delicious. The service is casual yet gracious. The dining room is nice, but book the patio if you can. We went to AOC based on reviews we have read. I have to say I don't get it. I'm a heavy duty foodie and tend to like everything, but I think this was one of the worst meals I've had at a high-end restaurant. And it was very expensive bad food. It felt like the food was sitting in bins in the back and reheated to order rather than made fresh. Everything had that feeling that it had been sitting around for days. Like leftovers. Just not good. On the positive side, the place is gorgeous and very comfortable and the waitress was very attentive. Not her fault the food was bad.

First, the $6 valet fee for lunchtime was a welcome surprise. We arrived a bit late for our reservation due to a flight delay but were accommodated and offered a patio table - a must during the day. While seating was tight, we were given the option to sit at a table further removed from other patrons for more privacy. \n\nThe menu was fantastic, but did require use of Google to define terms (or the assistance of our helpful server). Both meals we ordered - the hanger steak and the turkey sandwich - were absolutely delicious and well worth the price. The portions were also perfect for lunch - we did not go away hungry. \n\nEven the French fries were unique and tasty, and I have to recommend you ask for the aioli sauce instead of ketchup. It was excellent!\n\nAfter peeking at the wine list, I wished we had come for dinner, as it was extensive and quite tempting. \n\nFabulous experience that will absolutely bring us back again the next time we are near Beverly Hills.

If you do go to AOC, don't bring anyone you want to talk to because they would not be able to hear you. But, hey, you could just text back and forth if the food were superb. But it was not.\n\n I had broccoli that was overseasoned but tasty. Then, brined chicken (ode to zuni) that tasted just plain bad - too much brining for me - surrounded with some truly wretched tasting escarole. Also some cauliflower that was almost powdery, it had so much seasoning soaking up stealth grease (that ended up on my shirt, car upholstery and elsewhere later in its poorly packed takeout container). I actually ate it the next day and liked it. My boyfriend liked the brined chicken I think. I couldn't hear him! He also had hanger steak which he took home as a leftover. Probably good. Oh, and a plate of four undercooked, over seasoned, undercooked scallops with perhaps? some brusselsprouts reduced to a greasy paste on the side. \n\nAlthough the waiter refilled my ice tea without being asked, my second cup of coffee was cold by the time he brought me milk for it but the first was very good. Finally, although I had specified in advance that it was my boyfriend's birthday, no singing or acknowledgement happened although the next table of much hipper people was given the HB treatment. No biggie. But the bad, noisy dinner was regrettable.

I'd been wanting to eat at AOC for years & finally dined there last Saturday eve for a belated Valentines dinner. While the setting is beyond pretty, the food was quite disappointing. The food was genearlly really rich with bread served with nearly every single course - ugh (5 separate dishes!). We had to send the clams back b/c they were full of tiny broken shells that hurt your teeth. The chopped salad came with radish and not much else. It was supposed to have Roquefort but had none so we sent it back. When it returned, we tried it and found unappealing afterall. Not a good combo. I can say the potatoes (raclette style) were super yummy! But, sadly, the desert at the end of the meal (apple crumble with buttermiik ice cream) literally had a weird smell to it. And it was inedible because the crumble was so hard, like it crystallized into rock hard pieces. I couldn't even crunch them with my teeth so we only ate a couple bites. Overall, a very disappointing culinary experience, especially after hearing so many good reviews through the years. We don't plan to return. ;-(

Unquestionably one of the shining lights of dining out in Los Angeles. Suzanne Goin and her team have perfected the familiar crescendo from little noshes (an array of olives, bacon-wrapped dates), to tasting-size small plates (tangy morsels of Spanish fried chicken 'strips' with a remescu sauce are a standout) to glorious, shareable platters (spectacularly grilled whole sea bream with paprika cream and roast potatoes; achingly rich polenta with spinach and fresh wild mushrooms ) - but with a unique standout - midsize, middle-of-the-menu morsels served in castiron skillets directly from a searing hot oven. Clams sautéed with various fresh, scenty green plant items (I'm guessing scallions, green garlic, and parsley are sure bets) are heavenly; if you don't dip the olive-oil slathered bread shards in the sherry juice, then you're not living to your full potential.

I've been to AOC for brunch and it was exceptional! Go in ready to order lots of things and share them--that will maximize your experience. Our server was awesome and witty. He was knowledgeable about the cheese selections and ended up picking some for us and did a very good job. The quinoa chickpea puree salad was incredible--lots of flavor. The burrata on a broccolini focacia was simply the creamiest, tastiest burrata I've had so far in life. We also had the beef hash dish with poached egg on top. Not the star of the meal (that was the burrata, quinoa salad and blueberry bread), but still very tasty. The decor is so beautiful and the outside dining is pleasant. The bar area looked fun. We had bellinis at our table which were smooth and not too sweet. For what it's worth, I'd recommend AOC to a friend for a special meal (you'll end up spending a lot just because you'll want to try everything).

I want to first point out the positives of my dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious. Just about every small plate I ordered was exceptional. It met my expectations entirely. However, the service was poor for my taste. The waiter was not welcoming, and he offered little guidance on how to order. If it wasn't for me having been here before or reading reviews prior to our dinner it could have gone down hill. Being a fine restaurant, you would only expect exceptional service and nothing less. This male waiter took our order, brought our food and collected the bill. He only asked once at the beginning of the meal how was everything. His attention to our table was not there. Also, it wasn't even a very busy dining hour so there was no excuse for not being a bit more attentive. I noticed that he hung out with other waiters in a corner out in the dining patio for periods of time. If the service was at least good, my overall review rating would have been much higher. The last time I dined here it was exceptional both food and service. I wanted my husband and friends to have that same experience but it was not. Thank goodness the food was delicious and consistent. Just wished the service was the same.

AOC was recommended as a place to relax, eat some awesome small plates, and explore the wine list. Food was absolutely amazing and wine by the glass list fun. However, our server must have been having an off night, to put it nicely. He was not in any way attentive, forgot about us even though we were in the middle of the outside dining section, as well as being somewhat rude and dismissive of my sister and I. I understand that they were busy (we got a 6:30 reservation) however when a table keeps ordering small plates as they go and the table has been cleared and empty for the past 6 minutes (I actually timed it the 2nd time it happened), one would expect to be checked in on. I had to flag him down to see if we could order something else. After having to wait again, we cut our dinner very short and just asked for the check. Very disappointing as the food was so good. I want to say I will try it again but personally service is one of the most important parts of a meal for me.

We had high hopes for a delicious evening ahead of us as we have been to AOC before, just not in their new location. We were seated right on time and our server was right there to ask if we had any questions and/or had 'dined with them before.' Pleasant enough way to start an evening. However, though he assured us he would be around 'all the time' and there would be no need to look around for him, this did not turn out to be the case. When he was with us and explaining different choices and dishes, he seemed in a hurry, distracted, and the best possible way to describe him may be 'officious.' Certainly did not make us feel like he was enjoying helping us or even being there. The first three courses came out in a timely manner and were delicious. We were not so lucky with our main entrees however. My spouse and I were sharing the chicken, our friends, the lamb chops. Though our server had told us things may not come out at the same time, our entree came a full 30 minutes before theirs. Really not acceptable. The manager did apologize and did not charge for their entree. But the damage had been done and our server did not really seem sincerely sorry for this disappointing time lapse.\n\nWhen our check arrived, there was a 3% surcharge added on for us to participate in the cost of health care for their employees. While I fully understand this is something we can opt out of, it was an annoyance to be confronted with at the end of the meal. I do not wish to be responsible for an employer's obligation to his/her staff for their health care insurance. We discussed it with our dinner companions and chose to pay the 3% charge. However, it did leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth after our other annoying experience.

But, we wanted to order as we go, but we were told by our server that it's best to order everything so that they can bring it accordingly, so we ordered everything at once not knowing how much it might have been and everything just came out pretty much at the same time, we felt we were rushed to eat our dinner and leave.

Our waiter was extremely pushy, insisted we have 'a plan' for ordering, rather, saying that we might have to wait too long in between courses or that the kitchen might run out of what we wanted - this at 6:30!!!!! What kitchen runs out of food at 6:30???? In the end, we stuck to our own 'plan' and had to problems at all. While we have enjoyed dinners here, lunch was just not as good. the menu was limited, not as extensive as dinner. and the food was just so-so. Of particular concern, i asked for my main dish to be served without salt, and for a salad instead of fries. While the main dish has no salt, the salad seemed to have a salt shaker opened up over it and was inedible. I send it back and asked for a salad without salt. First, they delivered that salad to the wrong table, and then when they delivered a new one to me, while the top portion had little salt, about half way through the salad, it was drenched in salt. Just flat out wrong and not expected from a restaurant of this quality. Also, when i made the reservation i let them know it was my wife's birthday. No acknowledgement of that by waiter, no birthday dessert, nothing. Again, a real flop from my perspective. \n\nDinner may be good, but lunch is just not up to the standards. I was so pleasantly surprised when we walked into this place for the first time (I guess it helped that it was a cool, rainy night and we walked in to this warm, cozy, romantic space with a fireplace). It was sort of an unexpected setting for Los Angeles. They have a huge wine list and a really large selection of 'by the glass' which I like. Everyone in our party loved the food - we shared everything and I can't remember all of the dishes we ordered but standouts were the scallops and duck. We ordered a few times - dishes come out as they are ready and we shared everything, so I am not sure how this would work if a party was not sharing - I guess you'd have to be clear with your server how you wanted everything brought out. Our server was very helpful with a gluten allergy in our party - she let us know each time we ordered something whether or not it was safe or if it required a simple modification. Very helpful.\n\nThe only glitch was the hostess being confused about our reservation - we were a party of 4 and she said I made the reservation for 2, but obviously she used the wrong reservation for us because Open Table sent me an email saying I didn't honor my reservation - issue was quickly resolved. I would definitely go back to AOC next time we are in LA.

I always love it here. Had a beer this last time called 'Mischief,' a Belgian pale ale that's now one of my favorites.

AOC was a great experience. The bartender was friendly, accommodating and a good mixologist. The service was good overall. My particular server was a bit flaky but, did not change the experience. The food was amazing! We got several small plates to share. Dessert was not the best I have ever had. Will definitely return.

Dinner (celebrating wedding anniversary with my wife) was one of the three of four best dining experiences I've had in Los Angeles. Wonderful food, impeccable and friendly service. This is a 'small plates' restaurant, by and large, so we had various salad, sea food, meat and dessert things, all excellently prepared. The place is a nice, friendly neighborhood restaurant with a youngish crowd (we hate stuffy restaurants where people are as old as we are!).

Excellent restaurant. Wonderful ambiance. Great service and delicious food. Highly recommend. The patio is a great space for dining with friends. The menu is creative not pretentious. You will thoroughly enjoy your time here.

Food just ok. Desserts were excellent. Price was moderate. Disappointing, overall

Everything from the food (everything is wonderful just always remember to get the Farmer's Plate), to the wine list, to cocktails (worth going for them alone), to the service (always lovely and attentive), to the atmosphere (such an amazing garden with an outdoor fireplace) is just perfect. We try to change up the restaurants we dine at whenever we're in L.A., but we never skip A.O.C.

We had an amazing meal at AOC, from start to finish. We were greeted warmly by the hostess upon arriving, we had an attentive server, the food was divine and the cocktails and wine were all lovely. The only misstep was in the amount of food we ordered (too much). While he did tell us how many plates to assume per person, I wish our server had advised us that the particular dishes we'd ordered were larger than most and given us his $.02 about quantity. Everything was so good, we were sad to leave any on the plates. I will look forward to returning for dinner again as soon as possible. Next time I will request to be seated outside on the patio as that looked gorgeous at night (we were seated in a booth, next to the indoor fireplace). There was a rosy glow to the restaurant and to our evening. A new favorite.

Great outdoor setting. However we were cramped in there and I kept on bumping into the guy behind me. Food very good as was service.

A.O.C was great for a big group with brunch. The food was outstanding and my cocktail was great. The outdoor seating was nice. And happy to celebrate my birthday there.

First server was nice enough , took our order then disappeared. No one checked back on the us to see if we liked the food or if we needed new drinks. I finally asked the server I saw waiting other tables to send our server over and he asked what we wanted. We explained we wanted another glass of wine and more water to drink. He served us. At the end of the meal I asked where our originally server was and the new server said she had gone home and he took over. There was never any communication of this, disappointing that that wasn't shared. I've waited tables at a high end restaurant so understand that these thins happen but communication would have been nice. I explained to the new server that communication would have been nice. Nothing. I truly felt that the restaurant just really didn't care about us. Eat, take your money and leave. Not what I expected form AOC at all. Too bad.
