About Kendall’s Brasserie

A modern, artistic and vibrant take on the traditional French brasserie, the all-new Kendall's Brasserie dishes out a revamped menu by Chef Jean-Pierre Bosc who has playfully enhanced his take on contemporary, regional French cuisine, inspired by his most recent culinary pilgrimage to his hometown in Lyon, France. Bosc indulges guests with the modern comforts of regional French fare and dishes out a variety of house-made charcuterie along with an array of small plates, seasonal salads, sandwiches and entrees.

One of our favorite downtown LA Restaurants. Great location if you are going to a event at either the Music Center complex or the Disney concert hall. Food is always very good and the service is exceptional.

Disappointed no more white tablecloths. Remodel looks like coffee shop now, elegance gone. Worst service experience ever: took 20 min to add a place setting after asking 3 servers, requested fresh, ground pepper twice in 2 occasions s, mussels served without serving spoon...requested twice, received a teaspoon. Mussels are now the size of a dime, if that. Bill was returned for correction 3 times! After 5 years of pre-theater experience, we are done. Too bad!

We are sorry that Kendall's has removed shrimp cocktail and crab cakes from the menu. In fact, most of the seafood has disappeared. Onion soup is always great. Some people prefer small plates and lighter fare.

Kendall's has always been the place to go if you are going to a performance at the Music Center since it opened decades ago. It is only steps from any of the four theaters. The menu is not very extensive, but they cover all the bases of meat, fish, etc. They also are a bit overpriced, but they have a captive audience. Make your reservation well in advance. The food is very good and the service is excellent.

Returned to Kendall's Brasserie for another pre-theater dinner. Even if it wasn't so convenient to the Ahmanson, it would still be a great dining choice. They have an interesting cocktail menu, including both sparkling and still cocktails. I had a Lavendar 75, and really enjoyed it. For an entree, I ordered Coq au Vin. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender, as was the roast chicken that our friend ordered. My daughter opted to order an appetizer and a salad. Her salmon rillette was a nice portion of protein, and with the endive and watercress salad made a full meal. Don't pass up the wonderful fresh baguette, or the excellent desserts. We ordered the apple tarte, which is light and delicious, and what they call a chocolate fondant. It's actually like a molten chocolate cake, much better than its menu description.

We had not been to Kendall's in almost 10 years and it was good to get back to an improved place for drinks and brunch before an afternoon at The Music Center. Reservations are a must on the weekends for brunch, as I would guess is still the case for evening performances.\nThe reconfigured space is much more pleasant and the menu is a good mix of old and new. A minor quibble was for 2 of our party the poached eggs were underdone and not very attractive; perhaps the staff ought to ask how one prefers the eggs to be done in the future.\nService was a mixed bag as there seemed to be so many covering our station but no one person really checking up on it. Also, the portion of butter for a table of 4 was just adequate for 2.\nOver all, it will go back on our list to consider when next we visit The Music Center.

I guess I'm spoiled and use to the impeccable service I receive from Marlin. The young woman who waited on us came over too infrequently during our meal for my husband's meal to be exchanged as the lamb was not up to par and we often had to ask a busboy to bring something we had previously asked her to get. Perhaps I will stick with going to Kendall's during the week and not on weekends.

Outstanding ambience, very French, very nice onion soup as well as the steak frites, Coq au Vin, etc. Marvelous dessert we had was called floating something, meringue based matter floating in Creme Anglaise, covered with crisp slivered almonds coated in chocolate. Service is prompt to get you into the symphony or opera on time. We go regularly!

This is a good restaurant overall but some dishes are much better than others. We had the onion tart which was absolutely wonderful and then a beet salad which was delicious! Then we shared the cassoulet which had wonderful flavor however the beans should have been softer. Also the chunk of lamb in the cassoulet was quite fatty.\n\nWe did have very good service. We arrived early so no noise in the beginning but a little noisy when we were leaving but you could still hold a conversation.

The new decor has appeal. The abbreviated menu was a bit disappointing, though, and lacking the previous nightly specials and the more extensive wine list. As a regular diner at Kendall's, the service that night was not up to par. The only thing we received in a timely manner was the menu. Our order was out of the sequence in which we expected it, with the wine arriving late, and only after we reminded the server twice. Not your best effort.

Our dinner reservation at 8 pm allowed us some quiet time between the pre and post theater crowd - an unexpected plus. My husband had an elegantly presented and very tasty steak tartare as an appetizer. Our waiter jokingly asked how he would like that cooked. Apparently there are folks who do not know it's raw. Anyway, we moved on to our main courses of nicely seasoned steak cooked to order. The truffle fries should not be missed. Too bad we had no room for dessert.

I used to enjoy the brasserie very much. It was a great spot to bask in the post theatre glow, white table cloths, suited waiters, French menu, beautiful ambience and setting. After a remodel, gone are the table cloths, the service is brisk attempting to speed along table turn overs, drinks are plopped on the table gone is the attentiveness and the feeling that this is an occasion to celebrate. While newcomers may have not noticed the difference, I noticed it immediately, no linens, no nice plates, bread placed on bare table, shirted waiters who were in a constant hurry. It felt more like a diner or gastro pub instead of what it was, an iconic place for post or pre opera dinner, a taste of what was yet to come in the evening. High prices but you felt it was worth the splurge for the feeling of being in a Parisian like setting, please bring it back!! Please place some worth on elegance and intimacy! Pity, there were such few places like this in LA.

This restaurant does a business before Music Center events. Otherwise I have no idea. I thought our service was quite bad. We couldn't find our server to make our order, we had to ask for our order status as people around us were being served, and we couldn't make eye contact with anyone to get our check. The meal was ok, but not up to the standards of the other restaurants managed by the Patina Group. We wouldn't come back.

What a disaster...worst meal I've had in a long time. I ordered the Coq au vin and it was cooked to extinction. The chicken was dry, the carrots were black, there was no sign of any pearl onions; I only got some tough mushroom stems and a few potatoes. Plus it was tasteless...no flavor whatsoever. My one dinner mate order the braised lamb. It looked boiled, not braised, and was equally tasteless. The only winner was the third diner who ordered the salmon and loved it. So be prepared. My one friend and I will skip Kendall's after the show from now on!!!

The 'remodeling' may have made service easier for employees, but has diminished the dining experience for customers.\n\nGone are the white linen tablecloths, napkins, butter knives, and good selection of entrees (versus breakfasts) at Sunday brunch. In fact, both my husband's and my favorites are gone from the brunch entree menu.\n \nNow we have bare wood tables, smoked water glasses that would look at home in a 1970's diner, napkins made out of dishcloths, and terracotta bread plates so flat the bread crumbs fall off them. And we must use our table knives (covered with sauces or meat juices) to butter our bread. I mean seriously, can't management even spring for paper place mats so we don't have to put our silverware on a table surface that's only been wiped with a damp cloth? What next? Since you're evidently going for the 'diner look,' are you going to put toasters on every table a la Norm's?

I am only disappointed in that when the Taper has events on Monday nights as they sometimes do, you are not open. I know that you said that you are open when the Ahmanson hosts Monday evening events, e.g. the Memorial for Gordon Davidson. Wish the sam was true for events at the Taper. Another great meal at Kendall's! Arrived at 6 pm last Tuesday evening for dinner before a show at the WDCH. We didn't know that they had just reopened after a big renovation for the last 2 months. What a beautiful job they did with the new decor. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but literally packed in 30 minutes. Make sure you make a reservation or arrive before 6 for bar seating.\nThe menu was updated, similar to before but maybe fewer selections. The crudite salad with green goddess dressing was a definite must. The crudite were pickled, which added to the overall flavor of the salad, and consisted of chopped up broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, tomatoes, kale, and haricots verts, among other things. Really delicious. The coq au vin entree was served in a Le Creuset-type pan with a lid and was absolutely delicious. There were parsnips, various mushrooms, potatoes, the chicken (of course), and a rich brown gravy to die for. I didn't detect any bacon flavor like the traditional dish, but it could've been in there and I didn't notice. My partner had the croque madame with fries, which was huge and delicious. It is a sandwich that you have to eat with a fork and knife. We were too full for dessert. The coffee was strong and delicious.\n\nAll in all, we were impressed with the revamp of the restaurant. We always thought it was good before, but it is even better now. Arrive early before your concert and relax knowing you don't have to rush sitting in traffic afterward!

We have enjoyed dinner here many times before concerts at Disney Hall. We arrived at 5:00 as usual. Our first visit since the remodel and relaunch. The remodel includes a new counter and bar stools. New lighting and seating recovered. Gone are the white linens which dampened some of the sound. Now it is very noisy. \nThe upstairs section is now closed off at the entry and may still be under construction ... \nIt is still difficult to walk between tables due to their closeness.\nThe new menu is disappointing in variety with several of our favorites gone. \nWe both started with mojitos, but learned when we asked for another that they ran out of mint. \nI began with the beet salad & it was very good. My husband, with our favorite onion soup, which has been revamped with grilled bread (he said tasted fishy) on the side, which meant the cheese ended up a glob in the bottom. \nWe both ordered steak frite. The steak arrived drenched in garlic butter on a base of over cooked onion and mushroom. Steaks were tough, and gristly. My steak knife needed to be replaced because it wouldn't cut through the meat. I liked the fries and the serving was very generous (My husband thought they were greasy). \nThe favorite apple tart ended up with chewy pastry, though the macarons are excellent. \nThe cappuccinos are always good.

This was always out 'go to' dinner place prior to attending the opera at Dorothy Chandler's. We consider ourselves 'foodies'. We like sitting on the right side dining area, and not the left side which is close to the bathrooms. We usually look forward to an excellent dining experience, and great champagne / wine options. \n\nNot sure what is going on with Kendall's, but we found it to be 'okay'. The champagne / wine and food was good. But what happened to the white table covers? Why did they change their menu? There are no daily specials, other than what is on the menu. The escargot tasted weird, so I returned it. On the plus side, the service was as usual excellent (Thank you James). \n\nMost likely, we will next try one of the newer dining places what are within walking distance.

Kendall's has taken away the only dining room where it was possible to hold a conversation without having to nearly shout to be heard by those only just across the table. The noise level is impossible. If you want to be able to talk don't be seated anywhere near the bar area--or in the Lounge. The menu seemed more limited than usual. The food was good though the lamb shank had little meat on it. The food came quickly. They no longer use table cloths. I saw a few patrons using their napkins as table cloths and then asking their server for another napkin. Our server was attentive at first but one of the hostesses ended up taking our desert order. Its only advantage is its proximity to the DCP but we're looking at other restaurants within a short Uber ride that we can get to after we've parked the car at the Music Center.

We had a great pre-show dinner at Kendall's in their first weekend after their renovation re-opening. The renovations were nice, not terribly different but you could tell it was updated. They did close the larger room on the right side of the restaurant. Overall it seemed like they were still working out the kinks. Drinks at the bar were great in general (their Hemingway Daiquiri was fantastic) although attention to detail was a bit lacking. One of their cocktail descriptions on their menu was identical to another one but they didn't bother correcting it and only told us about it after I inquired about it. Our waiter was really engaging but we were often left without utensils for certain courses and had to ask for them. The starters and main entrees were delicious (especially the garlic fries) but their chocolate cake was disappointingly on the dry side. So hopefully this was just due to their first week back. I would definitely go back again for pre-show dinners.

Kendall's is in the midst of revamping their format, and I'm not sure I like the new concept. Pared-down menu, pared-down decor, bare wood tables... all a change from the cozy brasserie I've always enjoyed. The service was, as usual, very professional and pleasant, but the food was not quite up to their usual standard. My steak was overcooked, and the frites arrived barely warm. I'm not thrilled about the metal serving plates, either - my dinner got cold in about 5 minutes.\n\nAlso, when the restaurant has had turn-away crowds every single time I have dined here, I question the logic behind eliminating at least one-half of their available dining tables by converting the upper dining room into some kind of 'lounge.' When you obviously have a winning formula, why mess with it?

We were surprised to learn that the restaurant was under renovation and our dining 'experience' would be in a shabby ballroom on the 5th floor of the Dorothy Chandler. This was not disclosed at the time of the reservation which was days in advance of our date. Had we know, we could have decided to proceed or choose a different restaurant. However, with no notice we had no reasonable choice, but to proceed. So we were stuck with a limited bar menu, limited food menu, in a poor location, but a full priced menu. Nice. Next time I want to look at an old banquet room air wall and dirty carpeting, I'll head down to the local VFW or Moose lodge. Good luck on the renovated space, we will never know how it turned out.

I have frequented this restaurant in the past and appreciated the ambiance and convenience to the theatre. Renovation is going on in original location and alternate was less than desirable. More like a large banquet than an intimate dinner. \n\nI appreciated the complimentary wine when the after-dinner drink requested was not in the limited stock.

Kendall's is being redecorated and the restaurant is temporarily of the 5th floor of the Dorthy Chandler Pavilion. It was like eating in a banquet room with a view. No ambiance.\nThe food was ho-hum but the wait service was very good. The menu was limited, not sure\nwhat it will be like when they move back downstairs. We chose the restaurant because of\nthe weather (rainy) and its closeness to the theater. Location was the only plus - I have no interest\nin trying it when they return to their digs. Pinots on the courtyard is fun and a much better choice.

The restaurant is going through a renovation but is temporarily located on the 5th floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Remember that it is temporary; do not be surprised that the ambiance has a conference room or small hotel ballroom feeling to it. The food and service were still excellent. This place is great for dinner and drinks before any show within the Music Center. My only criticism is that the restaurant and bar are not opened late for after the show.

Since the regular restaurant was being remodeled, it was temporally moved to the 5th floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. What a treat it was to be there; the restaurant was in one large room, (but not too big). It was intimate and the staff did a fantastic job in making it a wonderful experience.\nThe menu was smaller, but my favorite chicken was available....as well as the bread! The service was quick yet personal. \nThe evening didn't disappoint!

I've been to Kendall's several times pre-show. I usually eat at the bar - and keep on returning. Unfortunately, this may have been my last visit. They are going through a remodel, and have temporarily moved to an upper floor in the Dorthy Chandler. Although I understand the challenges that are most likely associated with that for the restaurant, it seems the quality of the food has suffered too greatly to maintain the previous level of quality.\n\nMy steak was tough and severely overcooked. Drinks were far from the same quality (again, I realize the new environment may pose issues), however, at the prices that are being paid, it seems as if they have had quite a decent slip. \n\nOne of the main reasons to visit, use to be the actual space. Now, it feels like and awkward, makeshift wedding meal. Very unimpressed, and it might be the end for my business.\n\nIt's too bad - I really use to enjoy my visits, and the quality and atmosphere were well worth the prices. Sadly, not even close anymore.

We frequently go to Kendall's Brasserie before or after a performance at the Music Center and we have always been pleased with food and service. Last Saturday 1/7 they were upstairs on the 4th floor because the street level restaurant was being remodeled. Only a very limited brunch menu was available, food was disappointing. We will return to the restaurant after they move downstairs again, but we should have been advised that only brunch was available. If that is always the case from now on we will not return for lunch.

The service at the 5th Floor was acceptable, but the food was not. To the point...My husband and I regularly depend on Kendall’s to get us to the performance on time. The food has always been reliable, but this time the food was so depressing. I remember ordering years ago, a duck confit that was truly memorable! Was not made aware that the restaurant is temporarily relocated in basically a banquet hall of an office building right now. We usually dine here before shows, including with clients, because of the ambiance and service - tonight lacked both. Very disappointed that when I called the restaurant twice yesterday to confirm Rez and check on corkage fee they didn't mention their current remodel situation. Also disappointed that your website/app didn't make it known to me when I was making this reservation as I look to your services on OpenTable as both a convenience, and a source of credibility and culinary guidance. Eating dinner tonight felt like I was at one of my tech conferences since the temporary bar looked more like it was missing from a wedding or batmitzvah, and several waiters gave our table a blank stare before we were finally approached to be waited on. This subpar experience is not what I want to pay $130+ for, and not what I use OpenTable for. We will be contacting the restaurant to see if they can help boost our faith again.\n\nOverall heading to bed unfulfilled and disappointed.

While I love the ambiance of Kendall's Brasserie, my experience last week was very disappointing. Our waiter's accent was so heavy that I had to ask him to repeat himself several times, and I have an ear for discerning accents and understanding people with thick accents. I could not understand much of what he said, so I was baffled that he was a server in such a fine restaurant. In addition to this, he was very unfriendly and lacked knowledge of the drink menu. I asked him to tell me about one of the cocktails and he inaccurately told me that St. Germain was a hazelnut liqueur, when it is in fact an elderflower liqueur (my friend told me this later). Had I known that it was elderflower, I would have ordered that drink, so that's not good! We had a terrible time tracking him down when we needed to order another item and when we needed the check to get to the theater in time. He was just awful! It definitely put a damper on the experience and I would hope more than anything not to get this terrible waiter the next time we go to Kendall's before going to the theater.

Kendalll's is always a good place to go before the theater, though my liking of the food varies from visit to visit. Most recently, had the short ribs, which were a very tasty meal. But the onion 'tart' appetizer turned out to look like a big flat pizza, and was not at all what I'd imagined from 'tart.' I did love the warm raspberry tart with raspberry sorbet. It was in fact a tart, and was light and delicious!

The perfect place for dining before any event at The Music Center, Disney Hall, or The Broard. The food is good , well prepared, and nicely presented. The service--especially at Sylvie's station--is impeccable. This restaurant provides an ideal beginning to any evening spent enjoying the pleasures of the venues listed above. One note of caution: reservations are a must to avoid the hassle of trying to be 'squeezed in'. Especially when all of the venues are up and running.

I used to love Kendall's, but the last three times it has really gone downhill. Rotisserie chicken used to be the best in town. This time it was undercooked and just not as good. Waiter did not offer bread until the meal was almost done. And it's expensive for what you get. The pommes frites are delicious though. Convenient downtown spot for business lunches and for evening events at The Music Center, but a shadow of its former self in my opinion.

We have eaten here several times and this visit wasn't up to par. The restaurant was not crowded (it was 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon) but service was very inattentive. We had a long wait before our orders were taken; we had to remind our waiter of things ordered but not delivered to the table and we had to wait a long time to get his attention when it was time for the check. Also the food wasn't as good as on previous visits.

This novelle classic French bistro is outstanding. Superior service and ambiance with excellent, classic French fare minus the overdone sauces. Everything was perfectly prepared. Floating island for dessert that surpassed my mother's. Excellent cocktails and wine list. Three courses for two (shared dessert) with two cocktails, two glasses of wine, two espressos including tip was $200. We were promptly seated at the reservation time at 6 and left at 7:45 in time for our concert at Disney music hall. Highly recommend if you are going to theater, concerts or the opera. I think it's the best option in the neighborhood in that price range. I highly recommend even if your are not going to an event!

We had reservations and were seated promptly at a table that supported conversation, as I'd requested. We chose to have a light meal since we had time constraints and would be sitting for 3 hours after. We were delighted with the food -- a great steak tartar and wonderful, satisfying shrimp cocktail and a delicious shared salad. Our service person smoothly accommodated our time restrictions. We've been going to this site pre-matinee theatre since it was 'Otto's' who had the best salmon sandwich. Kendall's purchased it and did a wonderful job refurbishing it. Early on the food was good, with a nice selection of items to choose from. Then they changed the weekend lunch meal to brunch. Gone is the calamari casserole and the delicious tarragon open-faced chicken sandwich. The mussels nearly doubled in price making them not worthwhile. The croquet monsieur is OK, but SO unhealthy that I only ordered that once. The club sandwich is barely OK but this last time they burned the bread and it was tasteless. Their fries are awful, always have been. I for one, don't want breakfast at 1 pm, I want lunch and they have few things to choose from. We're a captive audience as theatre goers and they seem to know it. I wish they'd go back to having lunch items for lunch. What a concept!

We've had opera season tickets for years and finally decided to try Kendall's before the show. We arrived at noon for a 2 p.m. show and they had us out of there shortly after 1, so that was good. I loved the ambiance and it was a great place to catch up with my friend, due to low noise level. Service was good. But my friend doesn't want to go back because she said the bread that arrived with the meal was stale (I don't eat bread so I didn't taste it) and she was generally unimpressed. Brunch with tip ended up being $60, and we didn't have much to eat. They had no vegan options at all that I can recall, so I ate eggs and they were fine but not memorable. The $12 onion soup was a very small portion, so it's a good thing we also ordered entrees since we wanted to split it. Also, they seated us at a super tiny table against a banquette, and when you sat on the banquette, you sink down so the table is chest level. That was annoying, and they had no other table to move us to, so my friend changed with me so she could feel like a little kid again. I guess we'll go back to bringing a picnic and eating on the plaza.

Kendall's is pleasant and the food is generally good. We have been here many time when going to the opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It is quite convenient as it is in the same building and one does not have to move one's car. \n\nIn this instance, the food wasn't as good as usual. I had a hanger steak that was too done. My wife had a salmon tart that was not what she expected. Our daughter had Coq au Vin (the best item of the three). The creme brulee was quite good as was the carrot curry soup. The wine list is acceptable with some good wines by the glass. We had glasses of the house 'Patina' chardonnay (made by Au Bon Climat) that was a good value, and a bottle of New Zealand Wairau Pinot Noir . One item that is always good here is the mussels in white wine.\n\nOne usually sees members of the opera cast and the orchestra in the restaurant after a matinee. As we only go to Opera Matinees I don't know if cast members frequent the restaurant when there are evening performances.

This place gets better and better. I eat here before almost every performance I attend at the Music Center (and I have a subscription to the Opera and see many other events). This place has gone from a convenient decent place downtown to a seriously good place and a contender as a bona fide destination 'Patina Group quality' restaurant.\n\nThe menu is true bistro, 'kicked up a notch.' The menu, while historically very good under the Patina Group, has just gotten better and better, especially the past year or two. Some of the traditional bistro items are likely the best in the city and likely go unnoticed by many. Just about everything on the menu (and I've had most of it) is great. The chicken is quintessential bistro, as are the mussels. However, the daily specials continue to impress. Check the menu out on line and if you want the daily special - reserve an order! They go quickly.\n\nAll in all I enjoy this place every time I go. Service staff is equal to the best anywhere. (Ask for John - tell him I sent you! Lol!!)

This was a tough review. Essentially it's a review of hopes versus relity. We have been to Kendall's for years and always enjoyed our visit. This visit was lacking and, I hope, an anomaly. The reception was a rehearsed 'wait' delivered by a young woman akin to an automatron. We inquired about outside seating and were told it was a 30-45 minute wait.( All the seats were never filled during our visit.) Seated inside, we ordered Bloody Mary's and examined the menu which we found to be very limited . The wait person was very pleasant. The Bloody's were delivered warm, sans ice. Extra ice ordered and brought. Request for bread and butter. Got the butter but never the bread. Meal delivered but requested black pepper never provided. Second Bloody ordered but delivered after the meal was over. I am hoping that this was an aberration and not a decline in Kendall's regular quality. Bottom line, we will need to think seriously about returning to Kendall's.

Based on a dinner we had at Kendall's Brasserie years ago prior to a Music Center date, we swore we would never return. We were disappointed with the food and service. What made it more disappointing was how this restaurant in the Patina Group could fair so badly when we had so many wonderful meals at other establishments in the Patina Group. \n\nWe ventured back to Kendall's for brunch on a hot Sunday afternoon with my 85-year old mother mainly because we knew it was close to Chinatown and it was fully air-conditioned. \nWe were not expecting anything noteworthy -- just a nice cool place for decent food.\n\nWe were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, drink and service. It helped that there were only a few other patrons but I have to say that the food was very good and very well priced. All the standard brunch menu items were executed cleanly and tastefully. We could not have been happier. We will return because it is simply good.

Twice we went to Kendall's Brasserie for dinner prior to a concert at Disney Hall. Both times we had an enjoyable time, but both times the food was poor. The first time my steak wasn't cooked as ordered (almost cold inside) and lacked flavor. The second time my Nicoise salad just wasn't good, and the tuna tasted old and disagreed with me later. I can say our server was very good, and overall we had a nice time. Next time we'll try Patina down the street.

The primary reason to go to Kendall's is for before or after theater dining with friends. We go several times a year for lunch before a show, and just had dinner before a show last week. Being there for a pre-theater meal the restaurant is very well located. Menu options don't change often so if you frequently attend one of the venues here at the Music Center, there is not much variety. This visit we ordered 2 deserts but only one was presented, and because we have a curtain call, we had to do without. We usually ask for Marlon but we were attended by another waiter. This would not have happened with Server Marlon who is very attentive and acknowledges our time constraints.

This was a pre-Ahmanson Theater meal and was superbly convenient. The soup (creme of Cauliflower) was spectacular, but the salad, though fresh and beautiful, had an almost tasteless dressing. I might be too experienced to review having worked in a high volume Broadway district steak house where getting a massive volume of patrons served and on to their shows was a professional challenge. However, in the 3 times we've dined at Kendall's before a Dorothy Chandler event the Main server has been overwhelmed and inattentive to the details of service. Busboys aren't any better. Is this a lack of experience or under staffing??\nWe love Kendall's but our recent service experience, Saturday October 8th, was very disappointing.

We so enjoyed our meal at Kendall's. Highlight of the evening was the Brasserie Salad! We both had the evening seasonal offering, Beef Bourguignon, which was good but frankly way over salted. The beef appeared to be highly seared in a pan, then added to the pot, which obviously made it difficult for it to absorb all the juices and flavors. But it was served in a lovely cast iron pot at table, which made one feel special. French fries were fun. Baguette bread was terrific; warm and spongy. Service was fast and efficient, which is imperative for a restaurant like this attempting to serve dinners with limited time to get to their performance. I love Kendall's because they are generally most time efficient, have reliable food. I would without question make another reservation.

There are not many choices for dinner at the LA Music Center/Disney Hall. We had 7:30 tickets and the restaurant was very aware we needed to get in and out. The menu was varied. The quality of the food was not very high. It was served hot and was attractively presented. My salad was supposed to have blue cheese in it but I could find none. The lettuce was soggy. My husband's Casselout was not very good…perhaps it had been frozen and reserved or ? Our two other companians enjoyed their Coq a Vin and pork tenderloin.

Kendall's is the fall back restaurant prior to theater or a concert and time is a little short. The food is usually better than good and staff is generally very helpful in making sure you get the check in plenty of time to make the curtain call. Staff was very accommodating in changing our reservation from 2 to 4 when friends joined us at the last minute. The fresh bread and real butter served is worth the trip. However, this time the food wasn't quite up to the expected 'better than just good' standard. My salmon was very ordinary and the salads ordered by others were somewhat plain and unattractive. And the waiter was pleasant but distracted and had to be reminded a couple of times to bring the check. That said, it wasn't a bad experience and when necessary, we'll fall back again prior to theater or a concert.

If you want to truly enjoy, the service and the food, allow one and half to two hours for diner. We go to Kendall's every time we go to theater, since we are season ticket holders is quit often. We always make reservation for 5:45 or 6:00 PM. The reason is we don't want to be rushed and this gives the servers an opportunity to provide excellent service, and the kitchen staff to prepare food the way it's meant to be prepared. Every time, we watch with amusement how many people get there at the last minute to have diner, and the servers are just so rushed that they can't provide good service. By then we are enjoying our dessert and coffee, leisurely.

I've dined at Kendall's on many occasions because it's the most convenient restaurant when going to a show at the Music Center. I started with a light cocktail called Death in the Afternoon, followed by the salmon, which was cooked nicely, very moist, and sitting on a small bed of vegetables. I had asked the server beforehand whether it was wild caught and he told me it was, although the menu did not say. While the fish and the vegetables were fine, the portion size was small considering the $35 price. The only other item served with the entree was a baguette of warm bread. Coffee was $3.50 making the total with tip - $65. The fare is traditional. The crowd is mostly patrons of the surrounding theaters and the LA Phil nearby. I prefer places with more adventurous menus and surroundings, however, the server this time was really excellent. He was the best I've had there in awhile and the rest of the staff was friendly and efficient. I would recommend the restaurant for its location to those not looking for adventurous dining.

The menu isn't huge in the number of items offered, but there are so many combinations, there is something for every taste. The cocktails were outstanding and the selection of high quality beer, wine, and liquor exceeded my expectations.\n\nFollowing the performance it was the perfect spot to share dessert at the bar. There weren't many patrons in the dining area of the restaurant, but we could not have hoped for better service than what we received at the bar. They were served with a tomato herb sauce, which I loved sopping up with bread. But Hubby is a traditionalist and wanted them with garlic butter. Upon arrival we were promptly seated at a table for four in the north dining room.\nOur beverage order was taken and we wanted ice tea other than black tea but only choice was black tea. Other good items ordered such as salads were great and the mac and cheese. The main entrée rotisserie chicken arrived looking scrumptious but when our party cut into the breast there was a showing of pink near the bones which rendered the item not edible because it was slightly undercooked. Service by other 'male and female waiters was great.' We felt the head waiters comments were inappropriate and unprofessional. Also, if the head waiter had a problem with waiting on guests that African American or people of color or other ethnicities he should consider another profession. Tart? It was as flat as a commercial tortilla and so tough the spoons couldn't cut it. We had to tear it. Should have come with a steak knife. The apple must have been sliced on a commercial deli slicer -- I have never seen such paper thin slices. Finally, the ice cream on top must have been scooped with a melon baller. It was less than one inch in diameter. C'mon, Kendall's, surely you can do better that that for TEN BUCKS!!\n\nOur server was, well, okay. She tended to be pushy, and got into an argument at the table next to ours over a cold crab cake, telling them she thought it was okay. The diners there subsequently requested a different waitress. This should NEVER happen outside of a greasy spoon diner.

Very good food and wine. wonderful gin gimlet. Our problem was the waitress. We arrived at 6:00 and ordered drinks and said we wanted to be out the door at 7:10 and wanted separate checks. the glass of wine arrived promptly. Waitress said she would bring the cocktail right way. It did not arrive until the entrees arrived. Reminded her at 7:00 and said just bring the check now. At 7:15, I had to chase her down at the cash register and sign the check at an empty table. She split the check instead of giving us separate checks. Reported this to the hostess who apologized and asked for my email to give to the manager - never heard anything back. We almost missed the curtain at the theater.\nA few months ago, I saw huge cockroaches on the sidewalk when I was walking by. I told the manager. I was told they had an A rating and the cockroaches outside were something the city should take care of.

Kendall's is convenient since it is in the Music Center complex and the food and service are consistently good. Hubby and I split the beef bourguignon, which was the featured dish on Wednesday night. It was tender and flavorful. Hubby had oysters as well. With the wonderful, crusty French bread and a glass of wine, it was the perfect pre-theater meal.

Generally I like Kendall's. But I had no idea they ran a summer menu. Apparently we were there for the last night of it. Very few selections and very little variety. My friend enjoyed her selection, I didn't much care for mine, which I rather felt pressured into, thanks to the very short list of entrees. Had I known this, there is no way I would have gone there.

Went to Kendall's after googling where we could feasibly meet before a Music Center performance, as 4 of us were coming from different parts of the city in rush hour traffic to see a show. Found out that one of our party had already been and loved the place due to its Parisian bistro ambience and food. We were able to enjoy 4 entrees and a bottle of wine at 7pm for an 8pm show. They know the time constraints of their pre-show crowds and did a nice job of making it happen without throwing food at us. The steak frites, short ribs and salmon were all done very well and the wait staff did a good job of getting everyone taken care of through the rush. Was nice to have a go-to place, probably frequented more for its location, which actually had good food.

The waiter, David, was not accommodating, did not know what oysters were being served, was not timely in his delivery, and made unwanted substitutions. Went after a performance at the Music Center and the staff coped well with the sudden onslaught. The atmosphere is very much like a small Paris brasserie and so is the menu. The moules frites had a classic meuniere sauce and the hangar steak for the steak frites was tender and perfectly cooked. The problem was the frites, which did not arrive with the meal and when they did finally appear, were not good. Soggy (cooking oil not hot enough?), tepid, and even the potatoes themselves were bit mealy. A surprisingly amateur set of mistakes. Maybe an off night for them.

I have been here several times, usually before a performance, and it has been consistently good, often great. It is always crowded and a bit noisy, but in a good way. I enjoyed the Leek Quiche from the brunch menu this past weekend, and it was an amazingly delicious quiche. The texture was smooth and light, and the flavor was just right. The only thing I didn't care for was the dressing on the salad which came with the quiche. It tasted like someone added cumin to some canola oil and then dressed the salad leaves when they were still wet. I don't know why they don't use a classic French vinaigrette. \nFor dessert we had the cherry clafouti, which was also delicious. I appreciated that they had pitted the cherries, although I guess it is traditional to bake them pits and all.\n\nService, as always, was great. They were as delicious as they looked! We still had time, so we indulged in dessert (Assorted gelato/ice cream & Warm chocolate fondant cake). Again, everything was delicious! We went here before a show at the Ahmanson mostly for the convenience. It turned out to be a very nice experience. We both had the moulle frites and a caesar salad. The caesar was ok, but I have never found a truly good caesar in any restaurant and my standards are pretty high. The mussels were delicious, and overall the experience was nice. The place was very busy. but they got us all out in plenty of time for the show.

Had a great experience at Kendall's last Friday evening. Made an early reservation to that my friend and I would have a chance to chat before an evening performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. I sat at the bar to wait for my friend to arrive, and received an excellent recommendation of wine. When we moved to the main restaurant, we were seated at a small table for 2, that was closer to its neighbors than I like. The food and service, however, were both outstanding. The bread, freshly made at Kendall's, was divine, and went well with my meal. I ordered two appetizers (salad and crab cake), rather than a full meal. There was no pressure on us to leave -- even though the place was packed when we left. I will definitely go again.

When attending a performance at one of the Music Center venues, Kendall's truly has captured the supply and demand. \nIt's a terrific restaurant, with professional and prompt service, though since truly the only logical option when dining and going to a show, (to avoid parking twice and driving in the best of traffic times) it's going to be a pricy meal.\n\nI understand the business, but my only regret is that it's always a rush out to catch the show, and when paying an average of $34.00 per person (no alcohol in that #), rushing out is something I wish was not the case. And to start dinner earlier than 6pm is not possible on most days, especially work nights when I usually attend these venues. \nCAN YOU OFFER a more moderate priced fare there? Maybe on certain week nights? \nThat would be my only wonder.\n\nKUDOS on the continue success and consistency in food quality and service.... and raise of prices. :-)

Kendall's is so convenient after the opera that it is hard to criticize! The food is excellent, if a bit pricey. The noise level can be pretty high especially last Sunday evening when there were parties going on and we had trouble sustaining a conversation! The wait staff was stressed; I had to ask several times for something I wanted and it finally came but it was hard to fault our waiter when he was attending to the post-opera rush. I have had lunch and dinner at Kendall's before and the service was much more attentive because it wasn't immediately before or after a major performance. Mind you I checked and double checked and according to the waiter he had plenty of time. He was very apologetic and comped us 1 of the dinners. We have gone to Kendalls Restaurant regularly for many years as we have season tickets at the Ahmanson and go there for lunch before each performance. This is the first time we received horrible service. We waited forty minutes to get our food. The waiter took our order, came back once about five minutes later to question what I had ordered and then ignored us for an additional approximately 25 minutes when he stated that our meals would be out soon. The busboy brought us water, bread and coffee. He was fairly attentive.\nSince we have been going to the restaurant for so many years, we will probably go again but one more experience like this will end our lunching at Kendalls.\nAs I left, I stated my dissatisfaction to the woman who seated us. Not a good start to the evening.\n\nThe service was slow to start with (even with few customers in the dining room), but picked up after the courses were served. The appetizers (frizee salad & chicken liver gateau) were excellent. The truffled chicken with vegetables was fabulous, and the salmon with lentils was cooked just right, the only possible thing was the lentils were a bit too vinegary. The pink dessert three ways and pistachio sauced chocolate quenelle were really good and large. In fact, everything was generously portioned and I have to say a great value. We made a 6:15 dinner reservation, since nothing earlier was available, knowing it would be tight for a 7:30 showtime upstairs (at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion). We placed our order within five minutes but it took another 40 minutes to produce one plate of fish and a steak medium rare...we purposely didn't choose risotto or other time-consuming dishes. Clearly the kitchen was swamped, and we knew we were at the tail end of an incredible pre-show rush. So plan your schedule accordingly...make your reservation the day you buy your ticket...and pick an early meal time. We were the last people out of the restaurant, at 7:15, and did reach our seats with 5 minutes to spare, but we couldn't converse while we were shoving food into our mouths. So next time I'll show up earleir. Great food BTW and they held the doggy bag at the front of the house for us to retrieve after the show, which was super-convenient.

The staff was indifferent and our fist waiter ignored us (we had been given a table next to the restrooms.) We requested another table (and waiter) and it was in the back of the main room, as if we were punished for asking to be moved. Kendall's was having an amazing special served only from 7:30-9:30PM nightly - $29 for a 4 course prix fixe dinner. \n\nThe meal started with good, crusty, complimentary bread and butter. Service was efficient and friendly.\n\nAMUSE\nChoice of our artisanal cheese, charcuterie or hors d'oeuvres selection. We chose charcuterie. The meats were fresh and delicious.\n\nAPPETIZERS\nAvocado Salad -Haricots verts, fennel, lemon confit, tomato, green onion. The salad was fresh but nothing special.\n\nEscargots Provençal - 6 escargots in Tomato fennel fondue, garlic herb butter, parmesan crust. They were less flavorful than expected.\n\nENTREES\nSalmon Demi Sel - salmon with cabbage, oven dried tomato. The salmon was cooked well but lacked flavor. I would have preferred a different accompaniment than the cabbage.\n\nSteak Tartare Au Couteau - Black angus, chopped romaine, caesar vinaigrette, crostini with french fries. The fries were crisp and satisfying. The tartare was a bit too rustically chopped. It a large portion and the meat was flavorful, but tartare is really best eaten as a smaller, appetizer portion, in my opinion.\n\nDESSERTS\nCoconut Panna Cotta - Pineapple compote, passion fruit sorbet. The panna cotta had very little coconut flavor, so the compote overpowered the dish. The sorbet was nice.\n\nChocolate Hazelnut Mousse with a Madeleine cookie - this was almost like a pot de creme. It was a rich, heavy chocolate mousse. The cookie was forgettable. It was the better of the desserts, but it was too rich to finish.\n\nAs long as they have the prix fixe special, if you have interest in dining here, this is the time to go. Although the food was pretty good overall, it wasn't at the level that I would have expected for a Patina Group restaurant.

Visit regularly before performances because of convenience. Food quality continues to decline; now to very disappointing levels compared to even 6 months ago. This applies to food freshness as well as preparation (items often significantly over or under cooked). Food portion size reducing (not always a bad thing, but notable). Pricing continues to see some inflation (despite smaller portions and reduced quality). The convenience factor may no longer be enough incentive to come here as often.

I highly recommend Kendall's Brasserie before going to any of the shows at the Music Center or Walt Disney Concert Hall. It is an excellent five-star restaurant without being snobbish or arrogant. It has a relaxing and intimate atmosphere. The staff is amazing and friendly. I can gush about the great meals. If you plan to go before a show, make sure to have a reservation well in advance as the restaurant does get slammed before the theatre showtimes. Our server asked us before we ordered drinks if we were attending any of the shows and for the showtime - which enabled us to get our drinks and meals in a timely manner. Make sure to give yourself at least 2.5 hours before your showtime to truly enjoy the meal and company. The only downside to the restaurant is that it closes at 10pm. My guests and I wanted to be able to go back after the show to have after dinner drinks and dessert. Unfortunately - our show finished 10-minutes before Kendall's was closing. We have always enjoyed Kendall's prior to an event at the Music Center. The moules frites are about as close to those we have had in Belgium and The Netherlands as you can get in California. The service is always great, and if you can, ask to have Matthew as your server.

We have come to Kendall's for years, because we have season tickets to the L.A. Phil and the location is extremely convenient. The food was always been good, even if it was the 'brasserie' experience at the 'fine dining' price. But Sunday 02/28/2016 the food was not good. The short rib hash, which was terrific the last time that I had it, was boring. The most shocking difference was the french fries. In the past, they were fresh, light, and irrestible, even if you were trying to stick to a diet. This time, it seemed that they had been taken out of a frozen food package. After having a few, we left all the rest. Thank for help with the diet!

GREAT RESTAURANT. PARK JUST ONCE, GO TO DINNER AND THEN TO YOUR SHOW AT THE\nMUSIC CENTER. Food is always good as is the service. Best value is the rotisserie chicken\nif you want a lot of food. Used to come with pommes frites, but now you have to order them\nseparately. Fish dishes are excellent as is the flat iron steak. Melts in your mouth. \nTired of the same desserts though. :-)) I eat here a lot - at least 10 times a year and I always\nhave a good meal. We brought the family to Kendall's on the way to the LAOpera - a classic way to spend an evening downtown. What a great experience. The dining room was crowded, and the serving staff was rushed to get us all in, fed, and out on time for curtain...and that's what makes it so much fun. The only downside was that two of our party of four were served a full ten minutes before the other two - creating that awkward sort of table anxiety when some are eating and others are waiting and wondering if they'll get served before time was up. But in the end - everything arrived with apologies, and all is forgotten.

We've been going to Kendall's for years, love the food and find it very convenient when we have theatre or LA Phil. Recently (x2 occasions) the service was abysmally slow causing us to gulp down our coffee and dessert. Suffice to say, our old Kendalls is back! The service was excellent last Friday and the waiter made every attempt to keep the pace moving. To cap things off, we were given two complimentary glasses of wine for our past inconvenience. \n \nWe've never had a bad meal at Kendall's. Tried the risotto with funghi this time around, and it was superb.\n\n Kudos and Many Thanks.

The wife and I love the Theater , Holly Bowl, Disney Hall, and the general Hollywood, Southern California life style. We have been going to 8 to 10 of these type venues a year for 20 years or more. We don't mind spending a bit more for food near an entertainment arena but this end our Kendall's experience's. When 2 cocktails , 2 glass' red wine, and split the steak dinner for 2 cost you $385, it was over the top. The steak was only what I would call good, and over cooked. We were there to eat before a concert, and time was of the essence, so it didn't go back. Shouldn't have that problem for that price in the first place. The wife was the most surprised and disappointed. It was our date night and that was not a good start. Our waiter was good and we sat in an area where we could over the noise But...it was the cost and quality that we were disappointed with.

Ordinarily the service is impeccable at Kendall's. We are so used to having Marlon or Ralph doing the wait service for us, I guess we are spoiled. This time we waited for, bread, our salads and just in general not good service. Every time we needed anything, we had to flag down an assistant wo find our waiter. This is the very first time we have not been completely happy with Kendall's. We also noticed that the Roasted Chicken was back on the menu as years before, but was now the size of a pheasant or squab breast, however with the same price. Not fooling anyone here. Bread also changed to a cone shaped loaf that made the small end uneatable. Not sure what Patina has in mind for this restaurant.

Perhaps because we reserved early or the place wasn't too busy, we were seated in a small separate room which allowed us to converse comfortably. I consistently find the food to be good but not special or unique although my steak tartare was quite interesting. My companions all had short ribs which were tasty. The frites were hugely disappointing and the service friendly and helpful but a bit disjointed. We mostly dine here for the proximity to the music center. I would otherwise not seek it out.

In between the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and The Walt Disney Performing Arts Center, Kendall's is the perfect appetizer, entrée or dessert. The menu is beautiful...notably well done are the rabbit and veal (Blanquette de Veau...ask for it to be served directly on rice rather than served in the pot). Service has never ever been lacking. The last time I was there, Luis was our waiter...very attentive and professional. If you are in the area on Wednesdays and love architecture, visit the cathedral (Our Lady of the Angels) where an organ concert is scheduled right after the noon Mass. After the visit, top it off with the delightful notes of Kendall's.

They have a captive audience because it's the nicest place on the Music Center property. So it's fine since you park, eat and go to your show. The ambiance is fun, like a French bistro, but the food and drinks are expensive for what you get. Sunday evening service was understaffed, place was crowded, so by the time our meal arrived, we were rushed to get to our show on time...we allowed one and a half hours before showtime. 3 people ordered soup and salad, another ordered pasta, and 3 cocktails ...not complicated. Other alternatives are a few outdoor 'quick service' restaurants on the plaza.

Kendall's Brasserie was overall a great experience for me. I visited for brunch with my girlfriend, to see a show at Ahmanson afterwards. She loved it and said that the food reminded her of food in Paris. The location is great, really close to the theaters in the area. The restaurant's atmosphere was fancy, with a western European style. The workers were all very friendly and helpful. We ordered Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame, (both panini-like sandwiches) a French Onion Soup, and endless sparkling wine. The portions were too big for both of us, but the quality was high. A bit pricy, but I would love to return again for a special occasion.

We have enjoyed Kendalls since it opened, being frequent theatre goers downtown. The food is consistently excellent and the service quick and efficient, so we could get to our plays on-time. Our last two visits however, have been disastrous. Long wait to place our order; long wait to receive the food; and long wait to receive the check. Due to slowness in service, we felt rushed on both occasions and had to gulp our coffee and dessert. This is in sharp contrast to the many times before and we are baffled. Ironically, both of these negative experiences occurred when we were seated in spacious booths at the rear of the restaurant. We thought were getting prime real estate due to our frequent patronage, but we're now thinking the less comfortable seats in front might be quicker.

Unfortunately, our first visit to this restaurant consisted of sitting near the back by the restrooms and bringing to the attention of our wait staff a very large cockroach making it's way from the men's room to the dining area. We were seated next to the back door leading to the patio and there were 2 crickets, one on the drapes near my son's head and another at the door. Our waiter was very apologetic and mentioned these issues to the manager who never bothered to check on us or even acknowledge the situation at hand. If only the manager had shown some degree of caring, I would not be writing this review. We paid our $300 bill and will not return. We would not have stayed to dine but our hands were tied with tickets to the opera that evening and no where else to go on such short notice.

We went on this evening specifically to enjoy the one-month-only Lyonnaise menu. Although we discovered to our dismay that the special menu was only being offered beginning at 7:30pm, as the restaurant wasn't crowded, the chef agreed to honor our request to order from this menu. While the offering wasn't as adventurous as in previous years (we'd had, for example, sweetbreads, in the past), it was still delicious perfection. We'd ordered from the prix fixe; in previous years we'd been able to order an additional appetizer in lieu of dessert, but weren't permitted to do that this time (perhaps because we were ordering outside the usual hours?). No harm, though, as the chocolate quenelle with pistachio sauce was divine -- rich and flavorful, not just beautiful to look at as is so often the case with restaurant desserts. The only thing that keeps this review from being all 5s is that the dishes, even the salads, were slow to arrive, so that, despite our 6:15 reservation, we were a bit rushed to get to Disney Hall in time for our 8:00 curtain. But we did love every bite!

Kendall's will have to step up its game now that there is competition from the two new restaurants near the Broad Museum. Kendall's was my go-to place for lunch before a Sunday Music Center or Disney event. But ever since they changed to a brunch menu on Sunday, the food has gone downhill. Since we had 8:00 tickets, we had to eat fast, not consider coffee or desert. It was a rushed meal. Allow me to preface by writing that KC is one of my all time favorite places to enjoy small bites and cocktails slash wine. Chris, the regular knowledgeable bartender, has steered me in the right direction. First time actually dining. The unbreaded calamari was tops with the minced garlic was outstanding; however, the jumbo crab fell short of expectations. The chicken was outstanding. I finally understand what so great about a proper rotisserie chicken should taste. The mac n cheese made with béchamel was a tad too tarty and butter for me, must have been the Gruyere. 2 thumbs down. However, the baked merengue dancing and floating in a decadent vanilla sauce was Art. Definitely recommend this place. The coffee was stellar. Enjoyed a French press coffee repeatedly. After ordering 3 cups he waiter just gave our party our own F. Press :). Now that's service. Either that or our waiter was over extended. Which he was. The service was a tad lacking in returning but then again they had a full house. So I'll give them a pass until my next experience. Will return for their fall menu- duck confeit.

The kitchen is ALWAYS slow with many of the theatre patrons and myself, crunched for time, asking 'where is my meal?'. Slow, slow, slow. If you're lucky to have one of the Level A waiters, you're good. Otherwise, from meal order to delivery it's painful. I regret the negative feedback here, as I REALLY wanted this to be my forever go-to restaurant before catching a performance up top at the Dorothy Chandler. But, too many of my guests have complained about their food and the horrific wait times for such. I was willing to give Kendall's an ongoing chance, but need to take a break. :-(

The food at Kendall's is divine. Each bite was an explosion of flavor! The scallops on the half shell were the best we'd ever had. It was difficult to go on to the next course because we wanted to savor the flavor of the previous one. There were three of us so we shared appetizers and desserts which was a great idea so we were able to sample many different items. The service was excellent but slow, however, definitely worth the wait so give yourselves plenty of time to relax and enjoy this amazing food.

This last time I went to Kendall's the food was fan-tastic. There have been times when I've gone and been underwhelmed by my order, but the service is always spot on. I've ordered a basic caesar salad that was probably too expensive for lunch basically because I only had enough patience for their staff and no one else. I'm a neighboring employee and going in there for a couple drinks after work and seeing familiar faces is always a bonus, too.

I have been to Kendall's many times and took out-of-town relatives for dinner before seeing a play at the Music Center. The service was excellent. The food was also well prepared, nicely presented and tasty. The one problem was putting onion in two of our salads after we requested no onion, no garlic. The host did come by and gave us two desserts on the house, a nice touch. While I was able to find a good meal that I wanted without garlic, it isn't easy at Kendall's and is often a problem at other restaurants as well. Based on this experience, I would definitely recommend Kendall's.

Asked for a quiet corner to conduct a business meeting over lunch. Arrived early and was seated at a nice booth in a corner. Over the course of the noon hour, however, a party of three was seated in the adjoining booth, and then a gregarious bunch was seated at the round of eight next to us, al;l in all making it difficult for us to hear each other.\n\nThen, I had the toasted brioche club sandwich. By the time I got the the second half of the sandwich, the bottom half was soggy, making it rather messy to hold and to eat. Disappointing.\n\nFinally, it would be nice if the restaurant were to validate parking for mealtime patrons who enter the Music Center garage just before their reservations. The lack of validated parking is a disincentive to use the restaurant as a destination for lunches by people not already conducting business in the Music Center, the Courthouse, or the Hall of Administration.

Kendall's Brasserie is very convenient for a pre-concert dinner at the Music Center. The food is quite good. The service , however, suffers from a too small staff. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was filled, but there should be a sufficient staff so that waiters do not need to be running. As a result, the service was not up to expectations for a fairly pricey restaurant.

We visit this restaurant often because of convenience to the Music Center when we attend the Opera. If we had made a last minute reservation, we could have understood. The one head-scratching failure: what they misleadingly call ' pommes frite.' We don't need to go to Paris to find the real deal - thin cut and crisp. We went to an opera at the Music Center and had lunch before. The service is spotty. When we arrived, we were very warmly greeted. After that, service was less than memorable. One of my friends loves their lump crab salad, but when she looked, it was off the menu. When we asked the waiter, he said off-handedly, 'restaurants change their menus all the time.' That's it. Needless to say, my friend was very disappointed, not just that the only item she likes on the menu was gone, but the response was inappropriate. While ordering, another friend asked for a condiment with her meal. She had to ask for it again once the meal was served. Staff was attentive and friendly, the drinks were great and my friend and I both agreed the main course was delicious. Overall, I would probably go back for convenience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there. It was a bit pricey for the experience. The seating is a bit awkward if you happen to be placed by the large pillars, which we were. And surprisingly, my salad was wilted and tasteless. I love salad and it's not that hard to make - just make sure the lettuce and whatever veggies are in it are fresh and crunchy, not wilted and soggy (cucumbers were over marinated and rubbery). The cheese plate we ordered for desert was delicious, but they only served 3 pieces of crostini with a nice portion of cheese. The service was very good. Because we were early, we asked them to slow down the service, which they did.\nTwo of us ordered the roasted chicken, which was absolutly delicious. I willl order it again.\nThe mussels were good, the escargot not so much, not garlicky enough. \nMy husband didn't care for the chocolate dessert, but the creme brulle was great.

Had a lovely dinner before seeing a show at The Ahmanson. We will definitely go here again before another show at The Music Center!

This is the place we always go for a relaxing meal before the shows. Loved the skirt steak but wasn't on the brunch menu. Had the poached eggs with veggies. Can't beat the French in preparation of veggies. It was delish.

The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive. We came for an early dinner after a matinee at the Music Center. So convenient to not have to move the car to another location. I have eaten there many times before and have always been very pleased.

Kendall's Brasserie is usually our choice for dining prior to seeing a play at the Ahmanson. You don't have that rush at the end of the meal to get the car and race to the play that begins at 2 p.m. The food is really very good and we always enjoy it, whether we order something for brunch or lunch. The waitresses are excellent. The service is wonderful and efficient. Give it a try if you haven't already. I have returned many times over the years.

Kendall's had a special holiday menu with 3, 4 or 5 courses. Our party of four had two 3s and two 4s. We were seated in a small room that was considerably quieter than the main restaurant, which we appreciated. The food was very good, the service was attentive and we were finished in plenty of time to get to a performance at the nearby Ahmanson Theatre.

Went for New Year's Eve's pre fixe menu for our 5th year in a row. It's always a great time and fun to try items that are not regularly on the menu. Great stuff. The ambiance is fun and laid back, but never too loud.

I used to love the weekend lunch menu but I dislike the brunch menu? I wish they would serve brunch and lunch menu. The rest of the people in my party agree.

I had difficulty making reservations on Open Table for an earlier enough time, but when I called the restaurant they cheerfully gave me the time I needed. We had the french toast and it was delicious with large portions. The fresh squeezed OJ and grapefruit was very fresh. The coffee was good as was the service. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a good meal at the Music Center.

Delicious salmon entree and steamed mussels. Brasserie Salad was also delicious. We enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent and attentive. The location at the Music Center is so convenient when attending a performance. You only need to park the car once and the theatres are up one esclator.

I only recommend the restaurant because it's the only indoor place to eat at the Music Center. Usually I choose to eat at a restaurant with a shuttle to the Music Center.

Food was great. We especially enjoyed the chefs pate and charcuterie. Excellent service, attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Martinis from the bar were just right! Perfect choice before heading to the Music Center!

It's a great convenience and a joy having a really fine restaurant inside the Los Angeles Music Center complex. Kendall's is our go-to place when we want a fancy meal before or after the theatre. There are less expensive options at the Music Center, but Kendall's is uniquely special with a rich wood and marble decor, very intimate yet bright and airy. Noted for their french onion soup and a few other dishes, we've never had a disappointing meal there over the years. Or a rushed one. If you're not in pre-theatre rush mode, you can take your time with your meal. There is never pressure to vacate for another party.

We ate here before the theater but once we had our entree we were all but ignored by our waiter and we had to request the check.

For the last few years we have scheduled a special family dinner at Kendall's before an evening at the Ahmanson. Last night was this year's evening! While the food was very good, the service was only adequate and no where near what we have come to expect. The special for the evening was 'sold out' at 6 PM. We waited 15 minutes for cocktails to be served and when they were the salads and soups arrived at almost the same time. For dessert I ordered a French press. When it was served the busboy told me they were 'out of small ones so they used a medium one and wouldn't charge me for the difference'. What he didn't tell me is they used the amount of coffee for a small one but the amount of water for the larger one. I was served what looked like tea!\n\nI don't want to be snarky, but this was a let down.

Just a great before theater dining venue. Staff, service and food were great. Lunch is very good as well. Reminds me of CF and NY venues I have visiter.

Kendall's does the job they need to do, given their location in the Music Center. The service is efficient, the food quite good, the ambience pleasant, and they get you out in time for the concert. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The restaurant is managed very well.

Service could have been more attentive. Priority of attention seems to be given to older clientele (60's/70's crowd).

Excellent dining venue for a concert evening. Definitely high end, rather pricey but great for that special dinner.
