Enjoyed the ambience as well as the authentic flavor of the foods.. Order from the Chefs menu portions were a bit small. Overall great place!!
First time here, vegetarian dishes are exquisite, lovely dining area, great friendly service!
Service was awful and the food was A-Ok nothing spectacular for $90.00 worth. Very disappointed, will go eleswhere our days of Rock Sugar are over.
Food is delicious and very cool atmosphere! Happy every time!
The service was spotty and slow but the food was great. Management handled the service complaint appropriately.
Lovely ambiance, delicious food. Stick with the house cocktails, we ordered an old fashion and whiskey sour and they were so so, but the ginger margarita from the menu was delicious. This is my new favorite restaurant. Loved it!
Noise level when we arrived was way to loud. Music was up high and no one at the table could hear each other. Eventually it was turned down and ultimately, once the place filled-up was turned off.
It is always a pleasant experience to dine in RockSugar. The food is very delicious and unique. Also the ambiance of the restaurant is really pretty and warm. I love their Spring Rolls and Flat Rice Noodles with Mixed Vegetables. The Caramelized Banana Custard Cake is also really very good. \n\nI can never get tired of this place. Every time is better than the last time.
Never great, but acceptable, particularly since there isn't much left in Century City. The service is always quite good and attentive. However, the food is over sauced, overly sugary (your blood sugar will soar after eating there) and overly salty. Its fun, but my stomach always feels bad after eating there. I only go cuz I get tired of Toscanova (as much as I like it) and now that most other sit down restaurants in the mall are closed, there isn't much choice.
Always a great date restaurant. Beautiful decor, warm ambience, attentive but not excessive service, great food. Been to Rock Sugar many times, and will return many times in the future
Great night of food and fun. Everything we ordered was tasty and delicious. From apps to dessert, nobody left hungry or unsatisfied. My out-of-town guests were super impressed.
Food and service were excellent as usual. I am never disappointed when I dine at Rock Sugar. The food is always good and the service staff is wonderful here.
Great place to take a date, every thing we ordered was delicious! Was full beyond belief by the end if the night and our server Tony was amazing!
Love this place with it's Buddhist temple vibe! Food and beverages are creative and tasty. Could have done without the kids at the nearby tables, one of which was roller skating by our table continually on those sneaker shoe-skates, but that was bad parenting--not Rock Sugar's fault.
The atmosphere was great, the food is always good and the service was amazing. Everyone would and should love this experience dining here.
Service was pretty much non-existent. The restaurant wasn't even that busy, so there is no excuse. The bus boy acted more as our server than the actual server had. She showed up to greet us AT LEAST 20 minutes after we sat down. She didn't even check in on us after she dropped off the food. (I'm still waiting for the soy sauce, by the way). The bus boy got us our refills and we had to ask him for our check because our server was nowhere to be found. She was quick to drop off the check (eager for that tip), but after 10-15 minutes, we had to literally go in search of her to retrieve our credit card and receipt. I found her standing idly in the kitchen, munching on something. It was unreal. Meanwhile, my date was informing the hostess that the service was horrible, to which the hostess replied 'okay' and walked away. Rock Sugar used to be one of my favorite dinner spots, but unfortunately I don't think we'll ever return.
Get the tasting menu! Well with it and great food and great service. Would go back again.
Always a pleasure to eat at Rock Sugar. The tasting menu gives a great variety with appetizers, salads, meat, fish, chicken, noodles or rice, and dessert. A fun evening in an Asian fusion decor.
Incredibly slow service. The food took forever and the waitress never bothered to keep us informed. I had to ask what was the reason for the delay. Papaya guava salad is really nothing more than shredded fruit with too much dressing. \nThe cod is really good, but the accompanying items. I'm not sure what it was; it looked like shredded lettuce that filled the plate to make it look bigger than it actually was. \nI will not be back.
Good servers and busboys. Poor drinks - low alcohol, low flavor.
Delicious food, excellent service - one of my favorites.
This is my very favorite restaurant. The decor is simply gorgeous, both inside the restaurant and in the long welcoming entryway, complete with Buddha stationary, plants and bird sounds. I wish my home looked like this! The food is always outstanding and this recent visit was no exception. I thought that since I ordered from the Dine LA menu, the portion might be smaller or the quality less. Not the case. We were a party of four with plenty to eat. My only disappointment was that I had indicated on my reservation that it was the birthday of my son-in-law. I had thought there might be a special dessert. The waitperson never mentioned it so perhaps this tradition has been discontinued. Other than that, it was all wonderful and we will continue to return.
The best thing of all was our waitress, Hannah, who is the caliber often found in the best of the high end restaurants we like to go to - knowledgeable, personable, intelligent, and helpful. The second best thing are the virgin Mojitos.\nThe worst thing was all the Buddha statues all over the place. We may return anyway some time, maybe, probably not. \nWe learned this restaurant is owned by The Cheesecake Factory which we love in Redondo Beach for lunch due to the patio and a few dishes we like.....and their exceptional bread. Instead of bread here they have this tasteless ever so clever crisp thing that is served with a bad tasting dip. The pot stickers and chicken skewers were good. So were the spring rolls but they were saturated with oil so way too high calorie for me.
We eat here often and are never disappointed!
Beautiful Restaurant! Great Food. Excellent Service. Lively Environment. Excellent Quality.\nThe restaurant went out of their way to accommodate my (annoying) food allergies.\nThis is NOT your typical 'mall' restaurant.
We went with another couple and choose selections from the Dinela menu. Most of our selections were excellent. The wine list and sake selection were pricey but the beer selection was good and fairly priced. The shopping center is in the midst of a remodel which caused the smoke alarm to go off making an annoying loud noise which interrupted conversation and made the ambiance very uncomfortable. Just as I was thinking that we had made a poor choice for our Saturday night dinner, the restaurant manager came to our table to inform us that she would be comping our entire meal. I have been to many restaurants where meals and or ambiance was poor due to the restaurant's negligence or incompetence. This is only time I ever experienced such a generous gesture. And the restaurant was a victim not a perpetrator. Bravo, we will be back!
This was our first time at the restaurant. Because of Dine LA, we decided to try it. Our friends had eaten there before. Food was good, but servers tried to clear the table before everyone had finished. I find this rude.
One of the most excellent meals out in a long time.
Service was just really slow. Everything else was exceptional
Five of us went to Rock Sugar as part of Dine L.A. week. The restaurant was well beyond our expectations in food taste and quality, decor and ambiance. The food was very good and true to the PanAsian title of the restaurant. No, it was delicious. The service was also very good. However, the thing that I liked the most after the good food was the beautiful decor and ambiance of the place. I felt transported to an exotic Thai castle. The ambiance made me feel relaxed and happy. I was pleasantly surprised and had a satisfied stomach and happy feeling for most of the day due to visiting this beautiful place. I highly recommend it.
I made reservations in advance, we were given a table way in the back room, with many open tables in the main dining room. We requested a different table, we did get our request filled, however I would expect to be given a decent table without asking for it. The restaurant was not nearly full.
From start (the hostess greeting), to the table service (cleaning cloths, wait staff). It was top notch and I would come here agian and refer friends and business colleagues.\n\nThank you for a wonderful experience.
The fOod is always delicious and enjoyable! Highly recommend.
Rock Sugar remains one of my favorite restaurants in SoCal. Just excellent every time.
Excellent food. Chef happily adjusted menu items to accommodate my special vegetarian requests.
The alcoholic beverages wee the best and you have to get the coconut donuts! So good.
Always an enjoyable experience
I made reservations for a special friend's birthday. I called the day before to confirm and to request that a candle be put on our dessert, in observance of the birthday. The hostess said she put a note in our reservations to make sure they would take care of it. NEVER HAPPENED. I was quite disappointed. Some restaurants will comp the dessert, but not to get even a candle on a dessert that you pay for???
We had a great time! I've been there before on dates and this time it was with family. This restaurant is appropriate for all occasions. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and we were seated at such a wonderful place we could've gone hours having a conversation over pots of tea! Definitely coming here again.
Had to wait 15 minutes to be seated on a reservation. Was seated on the outdoor patio (first time). Waitress and bus staff was harried. Service was meh: Had to ask twice to have candle lit and it's dark out there; didn't have enough water to fill all of our glasses; Left the empty water pitcher on our table! Ordered a beer; didn't get it; Had to reorder. Saving grace was that the food came out fast and was good. Bad night for service though.
I've been going to this restaurant for about 5 years and the food has been flavorful and delicious. However, tonight the food was terrible. The dishes had no taste and some of the dishes were lukewarm. The coconut donuts & banana/custard desserts were just as bad. Service was decent. I won't be going back anytime soon. We were very disappointed.
Amazing food experience! Elegant atmosphere, tasteful decore, attentive service. Worth every penny, take a friend.
Menu small now, but still good. Waiter was the best and helpful. Young people like to have fun\nbut screaming thru dinner was a bit much!!!
I waited a day before writing this. The food is good to very good and it's just enough different from anywhere else to be very interesting. Highly recommend the coconut Thai soup. And, because of the nature of the small plates, service does take a bit longer. It could and will be a leisurely meal. That being said, a couple times in the past and again last night, service was horrendous. Took more than 20 minutes to get first course and the others came at least fifteen minutes later, and the main course, which we would have liked to eat with our meal came nearly one half hour after everything else was served and eaten. This is what really gets to me, restaurants and servers are there to accommodate us, the diners. The server is our representative to the restaurant. I HATE leaving a smaller tip because the service is beyond the server's control. But, we do NOT get the busy restaurant discount, nor does the menu publish a separate price when they have issues in the kitchen. By the way, Rock Sugar was not very busy last night. We asked the server a couple of times what was going on. His response was to ask us if we would like to talk with the Manager. He should have done that. Not my problem. He is our representative to the restaurant. We ordered some food to go and the front desk asked about our meal. I told them, and suggested that they talk to the manager. She was the manager. Her response was to send us at later time a gift certificate. We dId not want that. Another meal will not correct bad service or a unexpected experience. We had the issue last night, and not sure when we will go back. It's a shame because this is, although always slow service, a nice good looking place with good food and a different menu and approach to Asian style cooking. Somebody managing this place should take responsibility.\nSorry to vent like this...but...
It was excellent!!
Love this place. Even with the construction great experience.
Came here to celebrate my friends birthday and we did the chef's tasting menu which was amazing. 5 courses and I was so stuffed that I had to have my dessert to go the food was great and our server took care of us. He made sure that plates kept coming out from the kitchen and once we were done the plates were cleared. Would come back again
Waitress wasn't really paying too much attention to our table, we ordered some mixed vegetable and we never got them, kind of expected on the food runner to do all her job. Server should make sure that all her orders came out
Excellent location and delicious and authentic Asian flavours . Service was fast and polite .
Outstanding Asian cuisine in Century City. Very creative menu. Beautifully designed evocative of Asia dining room. Try the tasting menu and you will be happy
I'm hoping that this was just a hiccup as we have eaten at RS several times and had good experiences. The dining room was very cold. In fact the people who seated us suggested that it was warmer in the outdoor dining area. I guess that we were warned. It just never warmed up,so we spent the evening with our jackets on. When you dine at a restaurant that charges on the high end, you should have high expectations. It seemed that our wait staff was a little distracted as our repeated requests (like stones to rest our chops sticks on and for more of their delicious crackers) were forgotten. The food was ok, not much different than we've had before. I guess that when other things go south you start to be more critical and the value proposition becomes more of a factor. Aside from the ambiance and appealing menu, are we really feeling like this is a place which we'd frequent more often?
Great food and Customer Service! The food is tasty and the Banana Custard Cake with chocolate ice cream is the best.
Great food and drinks! The salmon and princess shrimps were amazing!!
Always fantastic! 2 for lunch...Great food, delicious cocktails...Love the salmon, pork buns, festive rice and spicy cauliflower...Kudos to the entire crew, for staying open during mall reconstruction...Thank you!
When you walk into this restaurant you are taken with\nthe beautiful decor both inside and out.\n\nThe service is above most restaurants and they\nare very attentive.\nThe food is outstanding and served hot and delicious.\n\nIt is a beautiful place to sit and linger even after dinner.\nWe feel very comfortable here and will return again and again.
This place has the nicest atmosphere of any restaurant I've seen in a long time. It's like a temple inside with a lot of fun decorations. It's a very fun place to be at. Oh, by the way, the food is terrific.
There is good food, and there is food so good you cannot wait to get back and have it again.
My second time visiting this place and my date first. The staff is very nice, the atmosphere is a site to see and the food is delicious!!!!
Outstanding food loaded with flavor. The beef was very tender allowing us to cut it with a fork. The chicken and shrimp dishes were wonderful with Princess Shrimp being the favorite. We will be returning soon especially for the Blood Orange Sangria.
Never disappointed!! Can't wait until the next time!!
The place was amazing. Down to the very last detail of the scenery was great. The service was very friendly and Im grateful for that. The food took a but long to come out but once it did I was very satisfied. My date enjoyed the service and thats all that really matters to me. Thank you for the great experience.
Our group of 4 tried the tasting menu and there was a lot of variety. For appetizers we had chicken satay, veggie dumplings, and crispy egg roll. We had a citrus jicama salad, shaking beef, princess chicken, Malaysian salmon, pad Thai and everything was fresh and delicious. For dessert Creme brulee and banana cake with ice cream. The restaurant has a fun Asian fusion decor.
Great waiters. The girls at the front desk are too busy chitchatting. Very rude and immature.
It's such a pleasure to write this review. I visited Rock Sugar with my wife and 2 children after we visited LACMA. The restaurant was unusually empty so we were promptly seated and served. The service was outstanding and everything we ordered was delicious! Our server, Ben, was friendly and knowledgeable. We never have dessert but we were so happy with our meal we tried the cake! Outstanding! A great experience from beginning to end...
Celebrating my husband's birthday with great friends. The booth was comfortable and the food is served family style. Perfect! They also have gluten free food which is great to know as one of our friend's is gluten intolerant. Excellent pad thai, yummy green curry, the passionfruit cocktail is just right. Always have a great night when dining at RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen.
Personally, I stopped eating at RockSugar after trying it twice and having tummy issues twice. Last week, my boss got food poisoning. So, RockSugar is now off of our list of restaurants to eat at. Sorry.
Pretty good for a corporate looking restaurant. Service was good.
Our server was outstanding, she really anticipated all of our needs. The food was incredible, well seasoned, hot and looked fabulous. The mixologist blew our mind with his tasty concoctions, and don't get me started on the desserts we had seconds!\nWhat a wonderful place to eat!!
Had a fabulous dinner the other night before the movies. Terrific duck appetizer! Amazing black cod, delicious steak. We were seated in a little private room area ( I think because they were full) near an outdoor patio and it was lovely!\n\nThe green chicken curry was just okay but everything else was terrific!
An Asian Gem in Century City- I have been trying to come in for lunch or dinner. \n\nFood is out of this world but the service is lacking. \n\nThis restaurant is way to big for what I saw in staff. It took us many times ordering flat water with Ice and lemon wedges.
Outstanding! I googled Yelp to check the reviews prior to coming to this restaurant so I wasn't sure what to expect. There were mixed reviews. This place was beyond beautiful! The décor totally blew my mind. Our waitress, Renee was the best! She was extremely patient and held our hand all of the way. She helped us make our choices and we decided on the Taster's Menu. We had no regrets! This is a great place to celebrate occasions. I'm so happy we went and canât wait to go again. Classy, classy, classy!
I've been to RockSugar several times and always enjoyed it. I hope they can stay open with all the construction at the mall. I know where it is but they need better temporary signage because both it & Gulfstream are pretty much isolated right now. I also appreciated not charging for a drink my date found too sweet.
Rock Sugar is one of my family's favorite restaurants of all time... anywhere!
I always take out of town guests to rock sugar because it is such a wonderful experience. Chef Mohan is a genius with his delicious creative recipes and the beautiful space he's created. Every sauce is very special as a complement to each entrée and appetizer; his attention to detail is amazing. You're fortunate to have rock sugar restaurant in Los Angeles.
We were a group of seven and enjoyed our evening very much. The service was poor, waiter seem to disappear for long periods of time. Food was not delivered timely and one dish was forgotten to be served. We ordered two of several dishes because of the size of our party and twice they were not delivered at the same time.
It was okay and I wasn't impressed by the ambiance.
Took much longer than usual. We could never find our waitress. Caused us to be really late going back to work. Had to make up for time lost. Almost always happy but this time not
For some reason the shaking beef was not as great tonight as in the past. And, the waitress took some time in taking our drink and food orders. Other than that we were late going to another place where we were supposed to meet up with another group, in the end everything fell in place.
3 of us shared 4 appetisers and loved them all: fried calamari, meatballs, chicken samosas and pork belly buns. That would have been plenty with the addition of a shared salad. We ordered their version of Pad Thai and a chicken dish. We ended up taking both of these home for dinner.\nWe loved the decor. Our waiter was slow to refill our drinks and at noon the restaurant was not even 1/4 full. There is lots of construction in Century City.
The food is always consistently good. Nicely decorated restaurant. Usually not too crowded so getting a seat is not a problem. Unlike Gulfstream which is too crowded and loud, this restaurant is a great location for business meetings.
Best food I've had in a long time, and we ate at Ruth's Chris a few days prior to our visit. The creativity was impressive. The taste was exceptional. Can't wait to go back.
I love the decor of Rocksugar as well as the food. I have had the same dish, Hanoi snapper, several times but last time it had too much green anions and they overwhelmed the other herbs and flavors of the dish. Even though my last lunch was not as satisfying as usual, I still love the place and plan to retun. The service is always very good as well as the food.
Never a fail. Always a delight
The restaurant is very decorative, the butter chicken was quite good while the pho was overly salty and the vegetarian flatbread and potstickers had no flavor. I know I am very picky when it comes to restaurants but I can cross this place off my list.
Go just for the pork buns. They are divine...our guilty pleasure!
I always love to go to Rock Sugar. The signature cocktails are always interesting. The menu has lots of options to satisfy everyone. I love the asparagus and green beans and the Thai chicken was amazing. We skipped dessert but their banana dessert is one of the best in Los Angeles.
Although this visit was unfortunately marred by a disastrously over-cooked pad thai (the noodles were practically dissolving they had been boiled/pan fried to death), the restaurant has otherwise consistent quality. The black cod is delicious (maybe a bit overpriced at $29), the meatball appetizers on lettuce are great (practically a meal, it would save you a nice bit of cash), and the cocktails are good (recommend the bourbon smash). For mall dining, not bad at all. Always crowded and loud.
Rock Sugar always delivers a satisfying meal although it does feel a bit like you're in a corporate establishment as opposed to a unique, fine dining experience. Service was good and a special black cod had delicious peas and tendrils underneath. The place is always busy, so make reservations.
Only the second time I have dined at this restaurant, both times for lunch. Stunning Asian interior decor. I walked around ogling every nook and cranny BUT had lunch on the open patio. Interior is perfect for a romantic meal but I was with a girlfriend. Our waiter was very helpful explaining some of the menu items and our meal was delicious except for a noodle dish which was more a soup than I expected. Dumplings were especially good as was a chicken sandwich.\n\nMy friend suggested we make this restaurant 'a habit' until we can get through more of the menu items and develop a 'we loved that' list.\n\nParking in the underground garage is easy once you become aware of the light system and get the hang of locations/areas as they pertain to different areas of the shopping center.
As always the food was good. Black cod excellent. Only recent change that we don't like is the Chicken Tikka Masala is clearly grilled first, then put in the sauce -- BRING BACK THE STEWED CHICKEN FOR TIKKA MASALA. No other way to get the tenderness... Unfortunately construction at the mall made the fire alarm go off multiple times during out meal but the management comped us so they made the best of a terrible situation. Hope the mall treats the restaurant right.
Love it here. 2nd time there and can't wait to go back. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese food.
Nice decor, great cocktails (Cucumber lemon grass martini is my favorite), the food is good. I wouldn't recommend the dumplings that are very greasy. But their salads and fish are always a good choice.
Fantastic food, ambiance and service. Lots of options for vegetarians. Great place for a special occasion or an everyday meal.
Always great food, lots of interesting choices and opportunities to share. Service is great from the hostess to the wait staff. Perfect for fun group meals.
We went here for our anniversary and were blown out of the water. \nGood creative dishes - Check \nGood prices/chef's tasting menu - check \nromantic feel - check \nhand-crafted cocktails - check \n5 course meal w/ two desserts for around $100 for two ppl in Santa Monica/Century City - Check \n\n**We brought a small cake thinking that we would have enough room to eat it but the two desserts that they gave us and an extra coffee ice cream dessert we were stuffed! :)
The restaurant itself has stunning decor. It's large but not so noisy that you can't hear conversation at your table. The serving staff are patient and friendly. Any leftovers that you want to take home are boxed up and can be picked up at the exit when you leave..what a great idea ! The food is varied and delicious and it is well priced. It always feels like a celebration here.
Our waiter was excellent and the food was the same. Haven't eaten here in 6 years, but I'm glad it hasn't changed.
Amazing experience! We LOVE this restaurant. The chef menu was very great, drinks are unbelievable. Great place for romance and anniversaries. Waiter Christopher was very hospitable.
This is a very enjoyable place. The décor is great, the food tasty and its reasonably priced. If you are in the Beverly Hills area and want an affordable tasty treat, come here!
The mall is under construction, so getting to the location is not pleasant, but once inside the magic starts. Drinks were first, Saigon bourbon Smash had perky hints of passion fruit, delicious. The server was gracious about taking special requests and checking for food allergies/sensitivities.. We were tempted to do the prix fix but it looked like too much food for the two of us, that option would be great for a bigger party. Started off with appetizer Lacquered BBQ Ribs, which are so good, a little fatty but the crisp outside and flavorful tender pork was succulent. Dinner consisted of Cellophane Noodles with Wok Fried Vegetables, Red Curried Shrimp with Eggplant, Tomatoes, Okra with Jasmine Rice, and Mixed Vegetable Stir Fry. I think they messed up the curry, because it was supposed to have eggplant, but we got chayote instead. I love glass noodles and these didn't disappoint. The curry was a little heavy on the tumeric, probably wouldn't order again, but the giant shrimp we're good and I would pick another shrimp dish. Not sure why the stir fried veggies were dripping in oil, would ask for easy oil next time. I notified the staff in advance that it was my wife's birthday. At the end if the meal, I thought he forgot, but the sever brought out a courtesy ice cream with strawberries with candle for her for dessert. No he didn't sing, but that's ok.overall, the night was fantastic and though we didn't want a lot of food, we had left overs to bring home anyway.
We were in town for a business trip. Having stumbled upon this find the last trip after shopping during our last excursion, we decided to introduce the experience to another colleague. The 'Tasting' menu is a not to be missed journey of awesome selections. Service was superb!
First time for me at this restaurant. Pretty cool place. Excellent food. We will return.
We find Rock Sugar a truly extraordinary setting with unparalleled ambiance to share a gathering with friends. It is one of Los Angeles' treasures for a savory, satisfying and unique meal. It is a top-quality experience in dining.
Everything was amazing from the time we got there. Food and prices were on point!
Absolutely fabulous! I love the good and the abeyance. The Tasting Menu is Excellent! Don't forget to get one if the Specialty Drinks.
We had the Thai Basil Cashew Chicken and the Singapore Hainan Pork with Asparagus and Green Beans and two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon, Annabella. It was awesome.
Good food and service\nWe all enjoyed and loved the samosas
My compliments to the architect and interior designer for the dramatic and impressive space they have created. Obviously the space they occupy is equally impressive with it's 30 ft ceilings. The expectation created by the space demands a higher level of service, although it was friendly. The designer should calculate how many plates can comfortably fit a table for 4, given the size of the table, the size of the plates, other items on the table and the size of the portions, as the congestion makes for an uncomfortable dining experience and discourage further ordering. Our dining experience required a move to a larger table in order to enjoy the meal. Food was essentially a tasting portion of the chef's Asian fusion prowess which would be hard to find in the LA west side. 4 stars overall and $$$$$ all together.
Always amazing! !!!
I always enjoy dinner at RockSugar. The sampler menu allows you to try a variety of foods from appetizers to salads to main dishes and even dessert. It's a great value and fun to share with a group. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive and ambience is over the top Asian. Lots of fun at the restaurant and the food is delicious.
Our waiter was friendly, helpful ,and efficient. The food was creative, varied, and delicious. The room is a delight to the eye.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The DineLA menu was varied and delicious and a good value as well. The main dining room has a delightful ambience and decor. A good time was had by all.
The wait staff was very helpful and efficienct. There were lots of choices on the menu and the dishes were delicious. My husband has some dietary restrictions and the restaurant was accommodating. Great ambiance and lovely decor. Our company enjoyed the evening.
Had the tasting menu which was reasonably priced, varied and delicious. Great appetizers, citrus salad, shakin beef, cashew chicken, ginger rice, and creme brûlée for dessert. Waitstaff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.
We went to celebrate Valentine's Day and we're delighted to find a special menu as well as the Chefs sampler which we ordered. We had a great variety of delicious items to share and the price was reasonable. Fun ambience and attentive waitstaff.
We celebrated my husband's birthday at RockSugar. The waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. We had the sampler which gave us a chance to try different dishes at a reasonable price. The food was creative, delicious, and well prepared. The room is lovely with great ambience.
Always have a great meal here, excellent service, and overall wonderful time. They are always friendly and accommodating for our toddler, too; we've been bringing her here since she was 8 weeks old and they've always been friendly and helped set us up however it worked for us. Feeling that welcome and appreciated as customers - in addition to the great food - is what keeps us regulars at this restaurant!
Loved the food. All beautifully presented and very delicious. Interior décor is unique and very beautiful. Great ambiance.
Always a treat to eat at Rock Sugar. I am never disappointed.
Excellent theme vibe/decor. We dined on their ginormous elevated, heated patio. Our server was well trained on top of being personable and efficient. The emphasis on training is so evident and awesome. They don't skip a beat. Love this place for a party large or small. I'm not from LA so you can imagine a place must be impressive to lure me back when there are so many other options in the city.
Excellent food; cool and artistic rich ambiance. Outdoor fire pits, statues, glass, waterfall, lighting, high ceiling. Great service. 5 course tasting menu with subcategory choices. Delicious. Highly recommend the filet supplement, and the two creme brûlées for dessert.
We go to this restaurant often. Love the food, flavors, and atmosphere. Despite the malls major renovations, this restaurant has kept its amazing food we'll come back a million times over.
Fun place to eat. Very themed. Great food!
Took my wife for Valentines. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. Though it was crazy busy, the restaurant provided us with impeccable service. We arrived at 7:30pm for a 7:30pm reservation and were seated immediately. The waiter, Phillip allowed us to take our time with the rather extensive menu and helped guide us when needed. The cocktails were terrific. The grilled Prawns were outstanding. The duck curry was great. The Thai noodles were so-so (you can't hit a home run every time). Love the ticket check service at the completion of the meal for taking home the few bits that remained afterwards. A really smooth run operation. Loved it! Will most definitely be back.
Love this place. Only negative is the way they handle goodie bags, giving you a ticket to collect your goodie bag at reception. Attendant handed us the wrong bag. I wanted my left overs!
Management and staff are friendly and go out of their way to accommodate diners. I have a gluten allergy and discussed all menu items with my server before ordering. Unfortunately, the kitchen made one of the dishes with gluten, and I ended up getting sick later. However, when I asked the server to double-check, he was very apologetic. The manager also came out and apologized and comped the dish. It's no fun to have an allergic reaction, but points to the restaurant for caring and trying to make amends. Because of this, I will go back and give them another chance.
This was not my first experience; the food was good, but would like more lunch choices.
Our server Frederick was very informative and knew the menu like the back of his hand. He was able to provide me with a list of gluten free options immediately when I asked. Our food came out hot and in timely fashion, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.
I LOVED our celebratory business lunch so much, I plan to visit again with my family this week!
Love this place. It never fails to satisfy.
We came with a group of friends and loved the ambience right off the bat! beautiful set up and the food was to die for. We did the chefs tasting menu which is such a bargain for the amount and quality of food that we got! Highly recommend this spot to whoever is looking for a fun environment and great food. Will definitely be coming back here in the near future!
Came here for a birthday lunch and the experience was nothing less than great! Our server recommended great cocktails and even better appetizers. We absolutely loved the food and drinks and the main entrees were tasty and filling. Enjoyed the wonderful ambiance and will be coming back in the near future. Thank you for a wonderful experience
This is a favorite restaurant of my adult grandchildren and we often eat there for any reason. The temporary drawback is the condition of the shopping mall where it is located. Parking underground and any walking is extremely unpleasant.
Rock Sugar is a wonderful restaurant for almost any occasion. The service is decent, although they could be a bit more attentive. The dishes are very unique and tasty. The ambience is perfect and makes you feel like you stepped into an asian country complete with Buddhas and temples.
This place is surprisingly good! No matter what your food preference the blend will satisfy. The desserts are AMAZING!
always one of my favorites for dining with a big group.
I have been to this restaurant a number of times and it never\ndisappoints. From the moment you walk inside and see the\nbeautiful decor to the last bite of your meal, it is all wonderful.\n\nOur food was delicious. We usually order several appetizers\nfor our meal and it is satisfactory. Our server was attentive\nand it was comfortable and pleasant to be there.\n\nI would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who\nenjoys good food and a lovely ambiance.
Great food but poor service. I do not mean that the wait staff was poor. It is the way the company serves. The tables are too small for all the wonderful food. The timing of serving the food is awful!\nThe hors d'oeuvre should be served first and a space of time should be allowed. The next course should come 15 to 20 minutes later and so on. It is impossible to enjoy the food if it comes one after another before we finish the first. The wait staff should warn us about how large ther servings are. We ordered 4 price fix and it should of been 2 rather than 4. By the time we got out of there we were bursting and because of everything coming almost at once it was not easy to eat confortably. There should be a side table for servinbg in that the tables are tiny. The restaurant is huge and they should slow the pace enlarge the tables and it would be a very wonderful place to eat and not be forced to scarf down the food!
Have been here twice...both experiences were xlnt! \nOn my most recent time there, we sat inside & enjoyed a great time, from cocktails to appetizers to main course! Too full for dessert! \nGreat ambience - will definitely return when possible!
I took my mom here for lunch for her first time. She commented on how calming it felt as soon as you walked in. Hearing the water from the fountain and looking up to a huge Buddha makes you feel like you aren't at a mall. The inside of the restaurant is just as interesting. Buddhas line the walls and the decor is just very cool. The food was delicious. We had the chicken satay with thai peanut sauce, the festive rice which has cashews and coconut in it, and the special of the day noodle dish which we both loved. The service was great and really just the perfect lunch spot. I have been here for dinner as well and it is a romantic place as well.
RockSugar is such a special restaurant. It is in century city mall but the moment you walk into the beginning path of the restaurant you experience a shift in your body and mind. It is so calm and you hear water falls, then looking at the enormous Buddha in the center, then a lot of gold Buddha's inside as well. You feel like you are in a different city or maybe in India or Thailand too :) I haven't traveled there but would love to and it makes me feel so happy inside there. Ok, get to the food right. Well, I went during DineLA week so my friend and I go that special. It was such a great price for the food/dessert we received. It was my third time there but my friends first time and she had the same feeling as I did. We tried the pot stickers, chicken skewers, and two chicken dishes. All were amazing! I can just say try it all if you can because everything is a party in your mouth. We had the sorbet and mixed berries and the banana type thing for dessert. Both delicious. As Arnold says, 'I will be back'!
Princess Chicken is amazing, get it every time! Patio seating is fantastic and the service was great!
I celebrated my friend's birthday and we had some delicious wine and and tried the chicken satay appetizer and had the butter chicken which is an Indian dish and it was so delicious. We will be going back and having that dish again. Maybe not sharing next time. HA! Beautiful decor as you walk in. I love Buddha's so I especially loved it. My friend commented on how pretty it was inside and out. They sent over a dessert with a candle and it was delicious as well. If you haven't been, try it soon.
Phenomenal, as always. The food is consistently exceptional...a rare experience. Only (small) complaint is that we had to ask for more water three times. \n\nThe beauty of this place is honored by the flavor and artful presentation of every dish. Thank you so much for this special treat. I braved 3.5 hours on the 405 to come here again, and as soon as my anguish about crazy stupid traffic subsides, I'll do it again.
Food is consistently delicious as are the cocktails
We love the unique flavors of Rock Sugar. There chicken coconut lemongrass soup is amazing. It's the best I've ever had and don't get me started on their princesss chicken. It takes fried chicken in Asian sauce to a whole different level.
Love the ambiance. Feels like you are in Thailand or in a far away place. The food was enjoyable. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The hostess was a bit snooty. She could smile more and act like she is friendly at least. Other than her it was great.
I was looking forward to this meal-the food was marginal. Service was marginal although he was a super nice guy......just not very available. He did provide great service when we asked for a carry out to take to our coworker but the whole experience was not really memorable. Sorry Rock Sugar. I had higher expectations.
This is my fourth time eating at Rock Sugar. I enjoy eating here when I'm at the Century City Mall. Everything was good with the exception of our meat dish that was served in a pot. Sadly whoever cooked the meat didn't actually check the meat before it was served. The meat was raw, as in you couldn't bite into it raw. I wonder how things like this go by unnoticed in the kitchen. Otherwise, the meal was very good, and you can't beat the ambience.
Arrived at 5:45p w an Open Table reservation which never got credited, until Open Table followed up... appetizers of shrimp and potstickers were actually good, mixed drinks were disappointing, as was the service.\n\nOnce the mall's renovation is complete i'm sure they'll do ok, but my experience wasn't anything to write home about...
Good food, ambiance and decor were perfect!
This is an easy restaurant to like. Food is good, decor is exceptional and prices are reasonable. Beware that some dishes are spicy if that is an issue. The food is really excelent.
This is my second visit - amazing fusion items here. Everything was good, but service was a bit slow, and food seemed a bit more greasy/oily than the last time. Definitely going to go again, and give it another try. It's a bit on the high side for Asian cuisine, but worth a try.
Our waitress was great. Because of a Gluten allergy she checked with the kitchen to see what I could eat. She was extremely knowledgeable. Her assistant was wonderful. He kept filling up our glasses and brought us our clean plates and silverware. Our food came out a little to fast for the appetizer and the soup. By the time we got to our soup it was cold. Then we waited awhile for our other courses. Our last course, (our vegetable dish) took an extremely long time to get. By the time we received it we were finished with our meal.
food is always good, flavored. The service is quick, always nice waiter, waitress. perfect for me.
Great as always, just one point : waiter was ok, little slow and not really friendly
Rock Sugar's lunch was good but sadly service was slow. The waitress and service help were very nice and friendly, but the arrival of my the wet napkin, the drink and food was so slow and delayed, I always had to flag down my waitress to get attention.\nI made sure to come after the lunch crowd around 2:00p, however\nit didn't matter. The food was served so late and the hot dishes were cold and the quality and quantity was subpar and minimal compared to my previous dining\nexperience. I want to Rock Sugar to improve the service and food quality because I want to continue dining here.
Nice salads and curry dishes. But business lunch was marred by lack of service. Hard to flag down a server. Servers seem to mind only their own tables and don't look to see if other tables are looking for service. Had this experience twice in a row so it wasn't aberrant. Too bad because the food is interesting and well priced.
Great Atmosphere. One of my favorite dining experiences of all time.
Always delicious...and kudos to RockSugar for staying open during the mall redo...parking is tough ,as workers take most of the spots on the first level!\nDelicious cocktails, Malaysian salmon, festive rice and spicy cauliflower.
First time dining, experience was superb. Waitress was very personable assisted elegantly with decision making of our meal as well as our drinks..Definitely, wont be the last time...Oh yeah, the food was ravishing(eventhough, it initially was brought to us @ room-tempature) Our waitress quickly remedied the matter & all was well for the rest of the evening
This is our go-to place to take my inlaws- it's a great location to take people of all different ages.
RockSugar has great style in its design, lovely fittings - so different to the normal restaurant with its Asian feel, high ceilings and patio. Cocktails are inventive and the chef's menu @ $39 ea is good value with too much food but lots of flavors.
Excellent menu. Meal was great. Service was great as well. One of my favorite places to visit when in LA.
Interesting ambiance very good service interesting mix cultures represented by the menu. Great imaginative drinks served oromptly
One of my most favorite restaurants. This place is absolutely amazing. Great food. Great service. Ambiance is stunning. Reasonably priced especially for the quality of food. I can't wait to come back again!
Interesting dishes, all quite tasty. However, the preparation was consistent with the restaurant's name: there was sugar in everything -- too much for my taste and too much for high-quality food.
Wonderful menu, ambiance excellent . Their signature beef dish is yum! Highly recommend it
I have NEVER had a bad experience, cocktail, or meal at RockSugar! Such a classy place and always something good and new to try!
Always a favorite dining spot with adult grandchildren.
This is a tough one. I had not been to this restaurant for over 2 years. When I went there I either went for the Happy Hour or for dinner. When I ate there for dinner, it was fun and lively and I had a good time. I also enjoyed the Happy Hours that I attended. When I ate there for dinner recently, I found the atmosphere to be depressing and the restaurant seemed a bit run down. We ordered several items on the menu and they were somewhat tasteless and yet salty. We had what was similar to Spring Roll, Lettuce Cup, Pad Thai, marinated beef and Green Papaya salad, along with some uninspired cocktails. The restaurant cuisine is not Thai, Chinese, Japanese, or Vietnamese, and yet, they are serving dishes that are similar to those items, and not doing a good job on any of them. They need to reinvent themselves and develop dishes that are either original or do a better job of copying others. I found the place to be depressing and the food uninspired. I would not go back again.
Great food!! Very nice service!! If you like Asian food you have to go!! Even the deserts, after eating too much, where amazing!! The cocktails are also great!!
My husband, friends and I went during dine LA week and had great menu options to chose from. The food was great, the ambiance was a little mellow (more kids/ families) than I would have anticipated but then again it was a Sunday night. However, the service was sub-par at the best. The waiter was less than enthusiastic about being there and then disappeared for a period of time where another server had to come and check on us. We weren't sure if he had left and neither did the food runners who were kind enough to help get our check. To our surprise he was still there. It wasn't a horrible experience but it was definitely lacking in customer service.
Empty at 7:30pm. Used to be hopping. Older crowd. Food was uneven. Veggie Samosas excellent but cellophane noodles were overcooked and soggy and way too spicy. Hardly any veggies in them. Indonesian shrimp dish was mediocre and expensive. Service was attentive and atmosphere nice but food was a let down. Needs better quality control.
I like this place. I think the food is good, but if you are picky about Asian food then you might want to go to an authentic asian place. The ambiance is killer though, looks great outside, inside, everywhere. Kinda like an asian version of rain forest cafe or something. Inside is dim, kind of like a temple, but with all different kind of asian cultures.
Lovely touch to hand the diner a warm cloth for handcleaning immediately upon sitting. We sat in a small booth at the wall so it was quite quiet. The servers were helpful and very nice. The portions are huge - we ordered four dishes, took home half, and had a full meal the next day. New for us and we will go again. It is a big but very pretty venue, with Asian statues and decor.
Fun and beautiful atmosphere, tasty Asian inspired cuisine in century city mall. Great for lunch, dinner or late night dining. Unusual mock tails and cocktails too!
Probably best upscale Chinese food for 5 miles. Nothing to complain about. The $39 menu is good and fills you up.
I can't remember our waiter's name, but he was an excellent waiter along with his bus boys. Food was definitely amazing and I was amazed with the decor around the whole restaurant. Definitely a place I would come back to!
very professional service; nice atmosphere; clean and confortable; good food.
Very disappointed with the food quality. This was the worst ever red curry chicken entree I ever had. It lacked flavor and depth. Basically watered down version. I understand toning down the spice level but the food was far from anything Thai or Asian inspired. I have officially crossed this off my list. I have been here 3 times it's very inconsistent and not authentic. Please take this feedback and improve food quality. Thanks.
Appetizers and drinks is all that is needed. Everything was delicious. Beautifully decorated. Fun place to spend the evening. Looking forward to returning.
Beautiful restaurant. Had driven by a few times and wanted to try it out. Restaurant week presented the perfect opportunity. Inside decor was amazing. Three of my guests were visiting from DC and they wanted to sit outside. It was a little noisy at first from street traffic but as we began to catch up the noise dissipated. We were a party of 6. Everything we tried was delicious!!! There were so many great appetizers and entrees to choose from and the waitress was great in helping us decide. Although I live in the IE, I plan to return.
Restaurant week lunch specials turned out to be much more than expected. The bargain 3-course meal was delicious, and more than generous in portions. We could not finish the dessert course. All in a marvelous environment, with impeccable service.
Almost everything is delicious. The most difficult thing is to pick what to order!
Excellent and attentive service, with a server who actually listens to what I want/need.
I've eaten at RockSugar more than 50 times and this is the first time the salmon dish was exceedingly greasy. Normally it's very healthy and appetizing. the samosas are excellent\nas are the pre dinner crackers and chili dip.
IT would be helpful if the kitchen would coordinate dishes for the same table. It always seems like one comes out 10 minutes before some others and then one or the other is always late. The salmon was greasy this time and had an overabundance of vegetable 'sauce'. It should have been served with rice, which I had to order extra.
We ordered the cashew chicken ala carte. The bite I took of the 'meat' was certainly not chicken\nor any other meat I could recognize. Either that or it was seafood, but it had a rubbery, chewy texture more like an overcooked scallop than chicken. Back it went!!!
Our waiter Ben was very good, he continually checked on us. Our food came out pretty quickly and the taste of the food was amazing! Hats off to the chef! Thank you!
Went here for a family get together and had an absolute fantastic time. Everyone thought the food was to die for, and we had a lot of fun
Celebrated my son's 22nd birthday here. Excellent service, great food! We'll be back!
This restaurant appropriately and accurately calls itself 'Pan Asian.' It is NOT an Asian Fusion restaurant, but rather one where tastes and delicacies from individual Asian countries are highlighted. The variety is extensive. You can try food from India to China to Malaysia, and just about every place in-between. Prices are very reasonable for this part of Los Angeles. Sometimes they have a good value fixed-price menu, which offers a variety of appetizer / main / and dessert items to sample. Everything is well seasoned and well-prepared. Portions are more than adequate. You can easily share most main dishes. Make sure to arrive early for dinner, or make reservations, because it can get crowded quickly in the evenings.
Another excellent dinner at Rock Sugar. The Black Cod is outstanding.
Fabulous interiors. Quite amazing. Food always good and interesting. Too bad the bartenders don't know how to make anything but the most basic cocktails. They don't know what a Hemmingway is nor do the know what a Vesper is. C'mon????\n\nNo matter, I'll be back.
Rock Sugar is visually stunning with food equally delicious. Great spot for grabbing a drink after work or movie by one of the fire tables. Large backlit statues in an overall softly lit space makes makes this restaurant a fun and cozy destination. Excellent unique cocktails. My favorite meal here mixed green salad, garlic asparagus and green beans, shaking beef, with a Cantaloup martini. Heaven!
The title isn't another great 'meal,' it's another great 'visit;' for dining at RockSugar is about more than just food; it's about the experience. When you walk in, you go 'wow;' for the entrance and the main room are so striking and beautiful. The food and service match the venue. Our appetizers could have made the whole meal; there was a good variety; and they were delicious. The entrees were also varied, interesting and delicious. RockSugar has a variety of specialty drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, which are unusual and delightful. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the staff was very willing and able to explain the dishes and drinks. Overall, dining at RockSugar is a wonderful experience.
Great Asian food andexcellent service, the parking is convenient and reasonable. We'll go back again!
Rocksugar menu is always interesting. Potstickers were good, spring rolls and calamari also good. I liked that the salmon was âtoastedâ on the outside â it was a good Asian interpretation of salmon. The noodles could have used more seasoning but still very good. Loved the green curry chicken! Rocksugar is always a good place to go â always consistent. Loved the interiors too â adds to the ambience.
As always the food was very good. Our waiter was excellent. The noise level is high overall, but it was well designed so that you can hear the conversation at your own table. The place was hopping on a Saturday night, but we had a reservation and got a good booth quickly.
Nice restaurant that has a decided Asian theme. The service was very good and the selection was large. The food quality was fine and portions were adequate. The five course special filled me up
Service was incredible, and the food was delicious.
Food was good; service was excellent! It is nice when you can valet park, otherwise it is not as easy to get too.
This is not healthy eating - but it's worth it! Delicious ad sweet all the way. The cocktails are beyond!!
Appetizers were very nice, but the entrees were mediocre- the recipes 'try too hard'. We expected to receive our entrees at the same time- the server should have explained we would not all be eating simultaneously. Finally we cancelled the last entree out of frustration.
RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen is a great spot for any type of lunch should you be anywhere close to Century City. It's a beautiful, exotic space with both indoor and outdoor seating and a delicious offering of wonderful food and drinks.
An extensive menu of original Pan Asian dishes. Able to accomodate special diets. First class service. A great find.
We had a wonderful dinner on New Year's Eve, sharing seven entrees among seven people, with great guidance from the wait staff. We also enjoyed the fun cocktail list, especially the Blood Orange Sangria. It was very festive.
The space is opulent enough. I suppose it is meant to distract from the lackluster food and less than stellar service. Having said that, I appreciate the variety of menu items offered but it doesn't change the fact that those offerings are being made by a franchise restaurant, which means franchise restaurant food. Which, isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is the second year in a row that I have arranged our department holiday lunch here. This is the second year in a row that a member of my party of 6 has had to wait until the rest of us were almost done with our entrees before the one that he ordered arrived. Unfortunately, the sauce was omitted and we ended up with a bland piece of fish. Fortunately, we order 'family style'. Keep working on it. Maybe the third time will be the charm.
Our waitress was one of best ever. I have dietary restrictions and she helped me order what was good for me.
I have been rock sugar so many times, may be more than 30 times. but today's service was the worst. Waiter was very bad at service. screwed up several times. Management didn't respond properly. Now I will think twice...
This place is gorgeous. The food is excellent. I have never tried anything I have not liked. Great thing about Rocksugar is they have pretty big variety of food for Pan Asian food. Service & Staff are wonderful as always. I love this place!
This is my destination for happy hour or just to dine out with the best salmon in town. We got a chef selection of items that were new to me and all of it was delicious. The chef always changes the menu so you always have something new to try.
My family of four was deciding where to eat. One wanted thai, another wanted Indian, and someone else wanted pho. I was set on Thai, but I found this place, and it was great! There were options for Thai/Indian/there was Pho, and it was quite tasty! I strongly recommend this restaurant!
Except for waiting too long to be served in the patio, we had a great experience.
Once again we went to celebrate (Fathers Day in this case) and were not disappointed. Great food, fantastic service. They always pay attention to our requests at the time of reservation and accommodate us and our young daughter.
We have not discovered any other restaurant like this one. Aside from a great pan Asian fusion menu, they have amazing sorbet, which they make in house, with flavors like passion fruit and mango. We also received outstanding service from Gustavo and his backup.
We were a little skeptical about trying the food, but with the help of the waiter we were able to order some delicious plates! I will definitely go back again!
I had taken a guest there for the first time. The fireplace was off on the outside. .. just didn't look nice. One of the guest had drank way too much and passed out while walking right in front of us! The service was a bit slow and the ambience was just not right!
We waited a long time for our appetizers. Then when it came time for entrees, only one came out and the other didn't show up for a long time. No apology, the waitress acted like she didn't know a thing (they do have servers as well as wait staff.)
My coworkers and I celebrated a birthday here, & our experience was exceptionally nice. It wasn't too crowded, the service was friendly & attentive, and every dish we shared was delicious. From the appetizers to the entrees and desserts, it was all delectable. The restaurant decor and ambiance was also very warm and inviting. I highly recommend RockSugar and look forward to going back.
The decor is beautiful, the food is excellent and exciting and the service is wonderful. From the moment you are greeted at the front desk you are in for a great experience. Our waiter Michael was professional and charming. We could not have been in better hands
Rocksugar is a stunning environment with a huge variety of food to choose from
Although, my Husband and I were celebrating out 22nd Anniversary, we were never asked if we were celebrating anything special.
Had a wonderful time here with friends! Exquisite decor, perfect service, amazing food. We were celebrating my friend who just completed her master's degree. Everything was terrific!
Great for special occasions. Everyone in your party will find something they enjoy to eat.
Awesome food and service. Easy to choose menu with selected choices. Go for the degustation menu. Varied and priced right
I loved it but my friend is allergic to cilantro and does not like spicy food-we told the server this and got a poor recommendation from the server. but otherwise was super accommodating and didn't charge us for the dishes my friend couldn't eat.
This was my first time visiting RockSugar. When in town, i will definately make this a prime spot to dine and take clients. The Milk cake is da bomb!
Shadi, our server, was attentive, knowledgable, and provided amazing service. The food was delicious and the decor of the restaurant was on point. I highly recommend getting dessert too!
Always wanted to go and finally found the opportunity. Great location and nice, lush interiors â great for setting the mood. Dine LA menu was good. The regular menu looks splendid too. Liked the chicken samosas and the beef-filled flat bread. The Malaysian beef was a little on the sweet side but good. The crunchy Hainan pork would have been better to put the sauce on the side because it was quite sour/spicy and overpowered the flavors of the pork. Desserts were delicious. All in all, a good experience and will surely go back.
this place reminded me of Tao/Buddha Bar in NYC and Paris respectively, so has a good vibe. even better, the seafood is superb and the place had a great atmosphere on a Friday night.\n\ndefinitely a great addition to LA's Asian dining scene.
Love the overall vibe of this place, gorgeous decor, excellent service and the food was amazing! So glad I decided to try this place, such a pleasant surprise! Did I mention the cocktails were also great ( a bit pricy though!) If I had to recommend one thing you MUST have... Pork belly potsticker!!!!! oMG tho!!!!! go!!!! Seriously
We always enjoy coming. Great food, service and ambiance.
A nice place to have group hand out. Good portion food and have a lot of variety.
Really love this place...this was my 2nd time...only priblem we had was the guy that bus the tables he bought us a water bottle nd drops the cap on the floor so bfr he plces the cap bk on..i asked him i hope he doesnt put the cap bk on since it fell on the floor..he replied no...i guess he didnt really understand what i was saying nd he place the cap that fell on the floor ð³.so immediately we called the server over nd told him what had happend nd he quickly replaced the bottled water with a new one and chnged all our water glasses with new ones as well!!! other than that everything was perfect for our LNO-ladies night out
Amazing place to hangout w friends !!!
The food was fabulous! Although I think the entryway is a complete waste of retail space, it's very beautiful and such a great zen feel!
Had dinner here with my family. Everyone was happy with the food, and the service was excellent. The cocktails were very good too, I had a mojito and my husband had a Moscow mule, which was very good with fresh ginger garnish and it had a little kick. Nothing stands out about the food, it was good though not stand out/great. \n\nThe best part was really the ambiance. The booths are cozy and intimate and we had a great server who was attentive and very knowledgeable. I plan to go back.
Food was great, as usual, though I wonder if the sugar content is dangerous to those with glucose issues. Ambience is a huge plus and part of the reason we like to eat there. Service this time was below what I usually experience (slow and inattentive this time), but I'm sure we'll give RockSugar another shot.
I am vegan, so when my work friends offered to take me out for a farewell lunch I was hesitant to accept. Vegans, you know what I mean! We work in Century City, so the options are meek. I looked up the menu online for Rock Sugar and noticed they have so many choices! So I was able to enjoy a farewell lunch with my carnivore work friends and still have my tofu - and eat it too! This is the perfect atmosphere for a business luncheon. The atmosphere is wonderful, service is fantastic, and the food is delicious!
All of it. This place transports you on every level! Always amazing and consistent.
Horrible food, slow service, strange crowd
A truly outstanding Restaurant. No place remotely like it. We drive in from Rancho Cucamonga, 125 miles round trip because we love the place. The homemade doughnuts with passionfruit sauce are simply 'to die for'
The food is fatty and not taste
The ambiance was very nicely decorated. The food all tasted great (Calamari, Chicken & Shrimp appetizers. Shaking Beef, Thai Noodles with Chicken, and Caramel Shrimp entrees. Caramelized Banana Custard and Creme Brulee desserts)! The service was excellent!
Excellent food, service, atmosphere and overall dining experience!!!
Food was great. Cant wait to go back
Our waiter was awesome. Everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend RockSugar.
My really go to Asian restaurant in Center City terrific food\n\nOverall great value
Great place with good food and a lovely setting
Everything about this restaurant was perfect. The decor was beautifully done. The food was delicious. Ever single dish we ordered was very flavorful. The lemongrass cucumber martini was amazing. Tom yum soup was one of the best I've had. The salmon tartar was spectacular. Overall highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
The ambiance was great. The food was fantastic and had incredible flavors. Our server Renee was great. She provided terrific service and suggestions on the menu. It was a great experience for my wife's birthday. It was our first visit and we will definitely be coming back in the future.
We ordered from the taste menu. It provided a variety of options and the portions were substantial. Even though we arrived an hour prior to our reservation, we were seated within 30 minutes. Once again, RockSugar did not disappoint!
The food is so savory with a very broad choice of creative Asian dishes. Good wine list and proprietary drinks. Love the décor and ambiance.
This is the most gorgeous bldg I've ever walked into for dinner. And the patio is so open that you can fully take in the beautiful LA weather & golden sky. I couldn't have been more pleased with the menu and advice. \nStrong recommendation for anyone looking for a great restaurant experience.
It was great from the atmosphere to the food to the service I could eat here daily. So impressed with the food selection and the bar put out some amazing drinks!
We ordered off of the tasting menu. Delicious! We got to try a variety of foods and the portion sizes were quite generous. Beautiful decor and nice setting. Would highly recommend!
This is our 3rd visit and we sat outdoors this time. Good drinks and decent service. The food is mostly good but they have changed the recipes on some items on the vegetarian menu and those were just so-so. The flat noodles were just ok and breaking up. The ambience is great with Asian teak carvings, etc.
Good was great, reminded me of tao in nyc. Service was superb and I had an amazing time catching up with my former colleague. Definitely Plan on returning with my boyfriend and other guests who visit me
Love the ambiance. Recommend the wings, ginger chicken fried rice and caramel chicken. Drinks are great too. The ginger margarita was perfect!
Visited this restaurant while I was in LA with my friends. The ambiance of this restaurant was great and I loved the vibe. I absolutely love the decorations in this restaurant. I went with a group of five people, including myself. Since we were visiting LA it was our first time here. Our waiter was very nice in explaining the menu to us and the concept of food sharing. The food and drinks were delicious. Our group was set on not sharing food, but when everything came out we ended up sharing cause everything was so good. I really liked the concept of the restaurant and if I ever return to LA, I will definitely visit RockSugar again.
Disappointed from start to finish. Food wasn't as good as before. Service was worse!
I love the feel of this place â like a foreign country was plopped . I definitely would return to try more dishes. The chicken banh mi was okay, the chicken satay was amazing (I'm ordering this again), eggplant was perfect, and the spring rolls were refreshing. We liked everything we ordered, it was so much food for two. Service was well-timed and friendly.
Great place with outstanding décor. Food and service are great. High end family style type of restaurant. A plus is that portions are not enormous like many other family style restaurants and food is prepared paying attention to a lot of details. I will definitely go back.
The menu at Rock Sugar delivers exactly what it promises: fusion foods with a bit of creativity and a lot of class. The place is pretty chic in my opinion. The décor is beautiful. The happy hour drinks are fantastic. Thai glazed wings, pot stickers and dumplings are all good. Correction: wings are really outstanding. Not the best value, but the drinks are worth the trip and make up for what you don't get in apps. Donuts for dessert are a must! Overall a great experience if the food is your type of food. If it's not, go for drinks and dessert with good company. You'll also at least want to try those wings!
The 3 of us ladies had a fabulous evening at Rock Sugar. We have been there on numerous occasions, so we knew what we wanted. We did however make a few different choices and loved them. Our meal consisted of the ribs, ginger rice, shrimp with corn and sweet potatoes, crispy samosas, grapefruit jicama salad, princess chicken, and shaking beef - we loved them all! Of course you must try the coconut cocktail.
Beautiful ambiance, delicious dishes and great menu options. Service was friendly and outstanding. Special thanks to Joy, the manager. She was attentive, friendly and professional. Highly recommend - will definitely go back.
I absolutely love this place!!! Everything on the menu is amazing! All the appetizers, entrees, desserts, and spirits are good, I haven't ordered something from the menu that hasn't caused a foodgasm. I always try something different and always equally impressed.
Overall this place wasn't bad. The building and the restaurant itself is amazing. Great fire pits out front, beautiful decor, very well set up. You dine in a large open air room so sounds do carry, but there are also smaller two-person nooks for a more romantic experience. The service was good but not great. I asked for brown rice with my meal and got white rice but the food came out quickly and drinks, were refilled often. I did make some alterations to the suggested prix fix menu because I am a vegetarian and after a quick check with the kitchen, the server was able to tell me which items to avoid because they contained fish sauce or other hidden non-veggie items. Be prepared, these dishes are family styled and come to the table as they are prepared so it can be a bit haphazard. Food was good, again, not amazing but offers a wide selection of items at a decent price for the area. Would be a great place for a get together with friends but might be found lacking for the true foodies out there. Overall, I'd go again.
I've been to RockSugar a couple times now and have always been pleased with the food and service. The food is fantastic and the decor is great. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat in Century City.
I like to go to Rock Sugar for special occasions. They have great food and amazing drinks and desserts!
Love love love Fredrick. The restaurant couldn't fulfill my wishes, but Fredrick gave his all trying to.
The food was excellent! Beautiful place, nice background music and great service.
We always have the most amazing time there. Food is unbelievably tasty!!! I just bought my wedding dress and this is where I took my family and friends to celebrate!!
Definitely coming back again for the Princess Chicken!
Love this place! Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. My GF liked it too.
Very good. Service was excellent.
The food is super amazing and the ambience fabulous!!....but the server was very lackluster. we rarely saw her, never checked up on us and I had to ask her to take away the used glasses ( twice) to make room on the table. I don't know how we would have fit dessert and the teapots on the table if the used wine glasses were not cleared away. Since this is a restaurant where sharing is employed, this takes a lot of room on the table so I would recommend that the servers be more attentive in general, ask if they can get anything or clear the used items.
We have been here several times and it never disappoints.\nWhen you walk into the restaurant you are taken back to\nanother world. The decor and ambiance are beautiful.\n\nThe food is outstanding. We always order lots of appetizers.\nThey are the best. The service is attentive throughout the meal.\n\nI would highly recommend this place for any dinner or celebration.
Hostess gave us the worst booth in place, tiny, right next to the bar and giant group table- worse I later saw her seating others at better, bigger and more private booths. Aside from that, waiter service was great and food delicious.
Have been going to rock sugar for years now and it's like I'm tasting it for the first time every time I go.. It never disappoints. I'm not good at writing reviews but I can tell you what to order. For appetizers get the beef skewers and the ribs, for an entree get the shaking beef and for dessert treat yourself to their banana custard cake.... You will not regret any these decisions :)
Whenever I go to this place, the service and food are great! Love the ambiance (indoors) - so much to look at. The cocktails are wonderful, too!
Haven't had a bad experience at RockSugar. It's great all around!!
i have been to this restaurant many times!!!! and i absolutely love it.. food fresh, good choices, service excellent.. cannot wait until next time, thank you
We enjoyed our dining experience here greatly.\nThe food was excellent and arrived hot and freshly made.\nOur server was more than attentive, checking back several times.\n\nThe room decor is beautiful and comfortable\nOverall, it was a lovely evening and can't wait to return.
My 3rd time here and it just gets better and better ! \n\nThe staff is always cheerful yet professional\n\nThe food is scrumptious\n\nThat's all I have to say. Try it ! you will not be disappointed.
From beginning to dessert, every dish unique with Pan Asian flavors from a variety of countries...6 dishes plus a wonderful coconut carrot cake dessert! A bargain @ $124.00. The Tai meat salad, the princess scrimp, the ginger rice!! A most. Service great! Hot towels too! Make a reservation if you want to sit in the main dining room. Having your own booth is a treat too.
Dined at RockSugar for lunch last week. Overall the waitress was good at the beginning. But when my food didn't show up for more than 10 minutes than my friend (only two of us dining) it was pathetic. Got the usual sorry, but didn't feel the waitress really cared. No manager or anyone caring. Sorry, that is partially true. The busboy noticed I didn't have my lunch and quickly went to tell the waitress. He was the only one that cared!
I love Rock Sugar and every time I have been there, loved their food and the service and ambience.\nthank you very much, for all the attention and care.\nbest,\nYasmeen
The decor was amazing!
Amazing food as always! Drinks are incredible and the service was great... What else can one ask for?
I always enjoy the delights at Rock Sugar. I make it a point to try something different every time I go, but I will revisit old favorites on the happy hour menu for appetizers. The cocktails while creative, doesn't always deliver on taste and are often watered down from to much ice, not enough cocktail, but I will give an E for effort, because some bartenders get it right.
I am the least picky diner you could have... But good manners ARE essential!! The young Asian girl at the front counter was extremely haughty bordering on out right rude!! This is the first person you see and I am an extremely polite business owner... How does she behave to the average not so polite person!!!????? I was there on Xmas Eve... What a great restaurant BUT the start and finish were marred by this employees deplorable attitude... And as a fellow restaurateur you know how important the start and finish are!!! TOO BAD !!!! It is na ANAZING restaurant with equally amazing food!!!
Fun night at Rock Sugar. It was my wife's birthday dinner. We brought our reluctant teenage sons, that were eventually won over by the food at Rock Sugar. Fun night, good service. We had the Indonesian Cilantro Grilled Shrimp, curry chicken, Quala Lumpur noodles.
I love the feel of this restaurant. The dining room is very open, spacious and comfortable. On our next visit we are going to try several of the appetizers to determine what we like best on the menu. RockSugar was a great choice for our 2016 New Years Eve dinner.
My wife and I went for a NYE dinner. It was a great choice. The food was outstanding, our waitress was great and had great recommendations for us. It was really a great way to bring in the New Year.
I could not hear the person I was with. When I asked to change tables the waiter said he couldn't. Food was good and the decor is nice but the seating sucks.
The restaurant is a favorite of mine but I did encounter a difficult seating situation that required consideration. The table which had been reserved for five was in an area where the draft from either outside or airconditioning system was so strong it could blow out a match. I wanted to change the location, but the staff was resistant to the move. It took two discussions with the host until the maitre d' came out and was able to provide a reasonable solution. The rest of the meal was wonderful. I told the host on leaving to remember that every problem has a solution!
Wonderful food and service! Def worth trying!
Awesome decor and delicious. A slightly more PF Chang's meets the look of Indiana Jones
Great food, gotta love the fusion aspect of the menu.
Always great food and wonderful atmosphere. Family had a good time and also enjoyed the food. Would recommend and will be coming back here again.
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. Not always easy getting decent Asian food in LA.
Amazing ambiance. Scrumptious food. Tantalizing cocktails. Awesome waitress - Renee!!
Went there for dinner with my wife and daughter. The food was wonderful - highly recommend the lacquered BBQ ribs appetizer. Everyone was very happy with their meal choices. Reasonably priced and the service was wonderful. Very attentive and made excellent suggestions. If you are in the area, this should be a stop.
I have to say I love a good sauce on my entrees, especially if the cuisine is on the exotic side. Rock Sugar will not disappoint for this alone. I was pretty much hooked when the waiter brought over our crispy wontons with dipping sauce (complimentary). We started out with the Crispy Duck Rolls, because my dinner date always gets them whenever she goes to a Pan Asian restaurant. I am not a huge fan of duck, but these were really good. The duck was moist and tender, and the sauce had a really nice kick to it. Since my friend was more of a duck roll connoisseur her opinion probably means more than mine. She loved them.\n\nFor our entrees, we had the shaking beef and the caramel chicken (it's a misnomer - thankfully there is nothing sweet about this dish) with a side of Jasmine rice. Both dishes were really tasty. They both had that right amount of sauce - not so much that your entree is drowning in it, but enough to give you a reason to finish off the rice by soaking it in the leftover :-)\n\nWe had so much food for the two of us, and we were so pleasantly surprised at how good each dish was, that my only regret was that we did not save enough room for dessert because there were a few on the menu that caught our eye.\n\nI am not a huge fan of eating out in the Westfield Mall in Century City, but I would definitely return to Rock Sugar. It would be ideal before/after a movie or a day of holiday shopping.
Loved the atmosphere and the service was outstanding.the food was over the top prepared when ordered and hot when brought to your table...five stars from me and my wife...thanks for everything.we'll be coming back...
Food was excellent. Server very helpful and attentive. We had the taster menu which was great value. The bar area was a little noisy, but that was just people enjoying themselves. Didn't spoil the experience. Would highly recommend.
We took our son to RockSugar for his birthday. We also took our younger children. The customer service was great, the food was great, the ambience was awesome... What more can I say!
Ordered salad with chicken but they forgot to include dressing which they remedied once I brought it to their attention.
We regularly visit this wonderful restaurant. My husband's childhood friend came in from Missouri and the one place we chose to take him to was Rock Sugar. It has an unusual atmosphere with spectacular decor, scrumptious food, attentive staff and great desserts. Needless to say our guest was quite taken with it all.
We chose Rock Sugar for our friends who are Vegans. They really enjoyed the food but my\nhusband is allergic to shell fish and it was extremely difficult for him to order. The chef finally\nmade him some salmon with Jasmin rice which he enjoyed, just wish they would have agreed\nto wash out one of the wolks with soap and water. A good time was had by all
Good food and good ambience but a bit pricy!!Went with my wife on her birthday and had told the staff that before hand. Normally places like these will do something on special occasions like a small cake or something but they didnt do anything. So a bit dissapointed but overall still a nice place to dine.
It was chilly inside. Not enough vegetarian options.
Excellent food. Outstanding service. The interior is spectacularly designed. Even the entrance lets you know you're about to experience something special.L A little pricey, but worth it. We'll be back!
I have been to Rock Sugar many times however on this last visit I was a bit disappointing with the food. I was entertaining some friends and we made a request to the server to make sure the\nwas was not spicy! Sure enough some of the dishes were spicy and my guests could not eat!\nIt would help if the server pays attention to the customers order and, make sure it was what the\ncustomer wants before he serves.
Celebrated our friends birthday. Reservation process was easy and they were accommodating with the time change. Service was awesome. Food was great. It's serve as a family style which we truly enjoyed. \nThe restaurant itself is a nice place. Decor are from Ancient Chinese era. Clean, well kept and a good place to eat for all!
My curry chicken was not cooked properly--underdone.
My husband and I enjoyed the happy hour there. We loved the mushroom-bamboo lettuce\nwraps. The servers were fun loving and very helpful and attentive!
Great service and good food - I always bring my clients and guest here and they always seem to enjoy it ðð»ðð»ðð»
The restaurant is beautiful with varied seating options, all lovely. Our servers, Dane and Fernando, were beyond outstanding, and made this experience memorable. Food was delicious, and we only wish we had this restaurant, including staff, on Long Island or anywhere in the NY metropolitan area, so we could frequent it often!
Decor and service was fantastic!\nFood not so great and too sweet
My family from Bangkok was visiting and I brought them here for a different Asian experience. They enjoyed their meals .
Hello everyone:\n\nMy husband, daughter and I have been patrons of Rock Sugar (Century City) for over four years. I've never been denied a certain requested booth. For this past Saturday, September 26th, I requested a booth for four people (even though we're only two) for a 6:30 sitting, but was given a small booth for two. We always ask for a booth for four because once the plates start coming everything gets crammed and it makes it very uncomfortable to eat. The hostess told us they were very busy and couldn't accommodate us. Yet, next to us, was a couple and they were sitting in a booth for four people. \n\nI think all requests should be accepted as it makes for the dinning experience to be a success.\n\nThank you so very much.\n Marta Zarragoitia
Very nice place-beautiful inside and good food with normal Thai dishes/appetizers.
RockSugar is a great place to eat. On this occasion, I went for lunch (but have also been for happy our and dinner at other times). The service was attentive and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend.
Thanks for taking such care of our family of 5 for a birthday dinner. We had people ranging in age from 28 to 86 and everyone was happy, which is unheard of in our group. Truly you exceeded expectations. Thank you!
I have a gluten-free diet and there was only one item that I could have on the menu. I overheard another customer with the same diet experiencing rejection. The menu and cooks need to come up to date and be more diverse. Soy sauce is sold gluten-free.
Looked for a restaurant last minute to celebrate my second mom's birthday and found this! Reviews all looked great so we decided to give it a shot. From the time we sat down til the very end, it was an amazing experience. The waitress was very knowledgable on the menu and explained the menu and answered any questions we had. She recommended items that would be good choices. We ended up going with the $39 chef special and ordered 2 sets since there were 4 of us. It was plenty of food! 5 courses - appetizer, soup/salad, entree, noodles/rice, dessert. I also had a cantaloupe martini which was one of the best martinis I've ever had. The blood orange sangria was great according to my mom as well. The cucumber lemonade was another refreshing slummy drink. All of the food was great!! The princess chicken was my favorite. Definitely would recommend coming here and I will definitely go back again!
This was my first time in a restaurant of this type.Thier tasting menu(which was augmented by a great waitress)was outstanding .nest time i'm in La i will be back
Lunch for 2 every few months..always delicious, cocktails, festive rice, pork buns, Malaysian salmon and spicy cauliflower...yum!
Amazing place to hangout with friends! The food is amazing and the service is awesome!
Recommended CHEF'S TASTING DINNER.\n Price and quality is excellent.
Food was very good. Service was very slow. Had a group of six. Waited forever for beverages each time we ordered them. On the plus side, the food was very tasty and interesting.
This restaurant is great. The menu is so varied its almost overwhelming to know what to pick, but no problem ask the staff for their good advice on the best plates. The service is excellent, the ingredients are fresh and the dishes are original and delicious. This place is also very cool, with a great look, perfect for a date or a night out with friends or family!
We visited for the first time for my older sister's birthday dinner. Loved the food, the ambiance, as well as the service. My favorite, though, might I add, was the glazed pork belly buns. I must go back for those!
Because everything is so tempting and so good that you over eat. Great service personnel. \nI take everybody to Rock Sugar.
I have been to Rock Sugar several times in the past. It has been a while but my prior good impressions were wiped away by my recent dining experience. The pace was excruciatingly slow. Most of my table came for the DineLA menu. I would have thought that Rock Sugar would have been well prepared for that. On top of that, the food did not taste particularly good. It was too bland, and they were chintzy with the sauces. It was definitely not a good value. I should have just eaten at the food court at Century City Mall.
Had a great time as usual. We like to celebrate all our special days here
The decor here is outstanding. You feel comfortable as soon as you\nwalk inside.\nOur server approached quickly and took our beverage orders.\nWe placed appetizer requests and they arrive quickly.\nWhen we asked to slow down the dishes, our server obliged.\n\nThe food was delicious and steaming hot when it arrived.\nFresh and tasty is always good.
This was essentially a mall restaurant along the lines of Ruby Tuesday or TGI Friday. I've had much better pan Asian in my life that's for sure. I was hopeful that their inclusion of Indian within the menu would make it interesting, but they failed so miserably at it that I walk away Knowing that I likely will not return. This is just basically an Asian TGI Friday, full of families, not particularly interesting.
Great place for lunch or dinner. Restaurant is a beautiful space, food is really good and the service is great.
Dine LA lunch price was very reasonable for a three-course meal with many selections for\nappetizers and entree and two for dessert. Our waiter, Michael, was very efficient, and the food \narrived timely. Everything we had except the fish dish was delicious. We will definitely\nreturn again.
My 11 year old daughter and I love this restaurant, whether going there on it's own or stopping in after a day of shopping. The food is consistently great, with new menu items to keep things fresh. The salmon tartare and chicken Tikka Masala were yummy. My daughter loves the princess chicken. Food presentation is great - portions not too big, not too small. The menu is so diverse, there's something for everyone. The wait staff is terrific. Save the wait and use Open Table for your reservation. We walked right in while others were waiting. Try this place out if you haven't been!
Love this place, go there all the time
Been here several times. Very noisy and staff tend to become less attentive when the place fills up. Love the food and that's what keeps me coming back..,
RockSugar is a beautiful space and the food was delicious. We shared two prix fixe $39 dinners between three of us and it provided an excellent variety of dishes. We were seated in the dining area in \nthe rear part of the restaurant because we wanted to be able converse. It was well lit and the tables spaced far enough apart so we were not bothered by the usual overwhelming din in L A restaurants. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the menu.
The food was Absolutely Delicious! The ambiance is very calming and the service was Fantastic!
Rocksugar is great. As the pan Asian experience goes this place is tops. I personally love pan Asian and can list the top 3 in the USA and rocksugar is one of them. The food is great and the service is always too notch. I like their creative twist on drinks and known dishes. I will always be back.
Great food, great service! Our server Elina was excellent, she knew the menu well and her recommendations were spot on. Loved everything, hard to pick a favorite, we had so much food!
The complaint I have that isn't the restaurants fault is that the parking is a nightmare.
Good food, think of it as an upscale and more authentic version of PF Chang. I'm not a foodie so I can't vouch for authenticity, but the food is very fresh and flavorful, and served piping hot. I appreciated the waiter's introduction to the concept- it's food for sharing, so no pressure to order complete or pricey meals. The wait staff is very attentive, yet they don't rush you, so we had a lovely 2 hour dinner experience despite it being a busy Friday night. We will be back!
We dine here every few months...for lunch. So many tasty items, including pork buns, Malaysian salmon, spicy cauliflower, Vietnamese summer rolls and festive rice. The cocktails are top notch...
we were visiting from Australia, our 5th time at this restaurant and chose it for my husbands 50th birthday for dinner on 15June.\nThe girls at the front desk are a bit sour faced.....not real welcoming! They knew it was a birthday celebration....a nice greeting would have been 'happy birthday'. Two simple words, not rocket science which would have made all the difference in my review. It's being proactive and engaging with a customer upon first greeting which enhances a guest experience.....\nI must say Ben, our server when we had pre drinks in the entrance hallway, was outstanding.!! Wonderful customer service skills.....hope that this compliment can be passed on to him.\nThe food has always been constantly good but the standard has dropped slightly, one of our dishes was cold, and the snapper dish which has the noodles....the noodles were gluggy, dry and all stuck together, so was one of the rice dishes.....the bottom all dry and dry.....seems a few short cuts have been taken in the food department! Real shame!\nUnfortunately the standard has dropped, shame coz it used to be our fave LA restaurant.
Took my aunt here for a late Mothers day lunch. It was both of our first time and we were blown away! Food is amazing and the decor is incredible. They also surpised us with a little dessert to help celebrate! Will definitely return !
I love this place, so my son took me for Mother's day. We loved food and constant attention from waitress/ waitresses. \n\nWhen they packed leftover food, they did not pack sauces and dips. We had lot of left over. Had to go waste. Don't feel good about that.
If you are looking for a place with good ambience and a warm feeling this could be your choice. Friendly staff, great service and great food
Great appetizers and entrees. Wonderful ambiance.
The food is always good.
There were seven in our party and everyone enjoyed the luncheon\nimmensely. Our server was fabulous. He was attentive and funny.\nHe added to our enjoyment of the afternoon.\n\nAll of the items we ordered were delicious. We tried several appetizers and\nfound them all to be equally delicious and good quality of value.\n\nWe will all return again and will recommend your restaurant with\ngreat pleasure.
We had a party of 6 for a going-away party. We each chose one item we wanted and shared with everyone at the table. Everything was outstanding.
We had lunch on a Sunday with our children (6 & 3) and the expetience was great. They were very accommodating and even though they do not have a children's menu we were able to find non-spicy options for them. \nAbout the food, flavors are very rich. This is definitely not a regular Pan-Asian restaurant. I felt that they were using real and high quality ingredients. There are no Japanese or Chinese food options which I found odd because most Pan-Asian Restaurants have one or two dishes for those not too familiar with curry/spices. The decor is beautiful and it certainly helped to keep my kids entertained. They were counting Buddha heads and admiring the water fountains. :)\nWe will definitely return!
We did a last minute reservation for lunch at noon and they accomodated a party of 4 quickly and we were in and out within an hour. The restaurant was busy but not noisy and the food was terrific along with the service.
Think of Rock Sugar as a contemporary P.F. Chang's. but with way better food!
Ive been coming back to this nice restaurant with amazing setting, delicious asian fusion and excellent costumer service!!!
unfortunately the waiter was of no assistance advising us as to the correct amount of food to order. Servings are large and some direction would have been helpful.
The biggest problem we had here was deciding what to order! They have so many choices of both small and larger plates! Great assortment of non-alcoholic drinks and teas. Serverwas really good and double checked our order against my food allergy.
There to celebrate my husbands work achievements. It was a wonderful dinner with phenomenal, attentive service. When making my reservation through OpenTable I aske to have room for a stroller. When we arrived at he restaurant and I gave our name, the hostess said they had already set aside a table that could accommodate our request but if we aren't happy with it then they will find another option. The first option was perfect! Our baby was able to sleep comfortably in the stroller while we ate. So wonderful to have a restaurant of that size and bustle to be stroller friendly. I don't find that too much around here!
Food exceeded our expectations.
Experience excellent Asian fusion fare in a beautiful, tasteful, temple like setting! Fantastic service and any seat in the house is great, but if you can grab the indoor seating adjacent to the outdoor patio for the best indoor/outdoor dining experience!
we had an amazing dinner and evening, very memorable. thank you
To get the selection of authentic flavors offered at Rock Sugar you would usually have to visit 3-4 different restaurants but here you can experience the best of Indian, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes under one very stylish roof.\n\nIt is a large restaurant but it has a welcoming atmosphere with a fun vibe. The food was really good, the indian dishes in particular were excellent. Our server was helpful in guiding us to the best dishes.\n\nI look forward to returning.
This restaurant is beautiful and service is great. But food is not good.\nEvery food I ordered were way too salty and full of thick sauce. I order beef and shrimp, but\nsauce is the same. I did not taste anything but sauce. I won't go back again.
I needed a place in that area to go for celebratory lunch with my mother and kids (14 and 11). The food was delicious. And the service was nice too. We were there early, and the restaurant hadn't filled up yet. But it was full when we left.
Absolutely amazing! From the complimentary rice crackers to the last bit of dessert. I would love to keep coming back. The staff are very friendly and accommodating!
Took our dearest friend and his fiancee here to celebrate their union. They have vowed to return themselves! All was wonderful...EXCEPT... I asked for a special presentation for the new couple, which amounted to the waitress at the end of the meal saying 'good luck.' disappointing at the least. If you want to feel special here, don't ask.
We eat lunch here every six weeks... I could actually dine here once a week... It is so good. \nDelicious pork buns, festive rice, malaysian salmon and spicy cauliflower.. Also great cocktails!
I have been here many times and it never disappoints.\n\nThe food is outstanding, the servers are extremely\nattentive, the ambiance is beautiful.\n\nI will continue to return here in the future.\n\nHint: If you are with a larger party, it is advisable\nto share several appetizers.
RockSugar impressed us from the second we entered through the outrageous doors to this magnificent restaurant. Our dinner was exceptional!! The food is absolutely delicious with the aroma and flavor and taste coming through from every dish. Our service was impeccable! Thank you to our waiter Robert W. for being such a great host and so friendly and patient as we made our selections from the menu. Also, the enitre wait staff was polite and professional the entire evening! We will be back without a doubt!
Party of six was confirmed by phone call as I was taking out business clients. Upon arrival, at least a 15 minute wait while the table was arranged. This was a disappointment since the manager knew of the reservation. Service was slow because the waiter simply had too many stations to serve. However, the food was excellent, drinks and wine were timely served, and the waiter pleasant.
When we arrived, me and my husband were sat right next to another couple while the whole restaurant was empty. We asked to be moved the hostess said no My husband went to the front and we finally got moved to a nicer table. After this, it took us 20 minutes to get a waiter only after asking 2 bus boys for someone to come take our order. I have never had such awful service
had the salmon tar tar (AMAZING) and chicken tikka masala, which was also delicious. my ginger margarita was too sweet but my friend's passionfruit martini thing was SO GOOD
The food and ambiance was very good. Excellent restaurant. Great for a date night. Excellent service.
This was my fist time dining at Rocksugar, \nI had a great experience, The food was very good and fresh.\n The service was great. I will definitely dine there again and also I will definitely recommend to others.
I didn't have high expectations but almost everything we ate was quite tasty. A lot of fried foods which won't appeal to some but is a good way to make dishes taste good with less effort so I get it. I thought the shared meal deal was a good value. The entrance and decor is impressive - very much an Asian Cheesecake Factory feel with higher production value. Sure it's cheesy but part of the appeal of dining out is being entertained and this worked for me.
our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and speedy!
it would be great if kids weren't allowed after evening hours - it sort of ruins the ambience with small children screaming and crying. I know it's difficult to not allow them in - but seems fair to have a cut off hour - My party of 4 was there at 945 on a friday night and had to, unfortunately, deal with an unhappy kiddo throughout our dinner (I know that parents also need a night out - but doesn't seem unreasonable to have a cut-off hour for parties with small kids). Otherwise great as always - the shaking beef is a favorite!
We went the day before V day to avoid the crowd. No such luck here because the food is amazing. We had the best sea bass ever! Try for a booth if you can. The tables with the bench seating are too close together.
Rock sugar is easily accessible from anywhere in LA surrounding Century City. The trip to Rock Sugar is worth it. Dining at a shopping mall is not what many people have in mind to 'wind down' and relax by engaging the energy thrown off by masses of people congregating in one place, but once you step from the mall into the entrance foyer patio at Rock Sugar you begin in an inviting and relaxing portal to engage before moving to a dining table. The ambiance and decor in the interior restaurant is an architectural experience, but again calm with out being somber and there is enough of a 'hum' from patrons having a good time that there is a warmth of background noise from the conversation throughout the dining room and not noise from restaurant operation. The menu is inventive and unique and yet everything on the menu has a familiarity about it that would not be intimidating for inexperienced diners or persons who are not quite foodies. Regardless of what you choose from the menu, whether you are a 'foodie' or are a novice diner looking for a restaurant to help you 'branch out' to develop your taste palette; Rock Sugar has food that will surprise and delight!
Took my husband there for lunch and he was in heaven. Just got turned on to this restaurant from my girlfriend for my birthday. Tried other foods and they knocked it out of the park again. The decor makes you feel like you're in Asia - or Vegas. Must try it at night since its so good during the day. Highly recommend this!
RockSugar is an amazing place to dine-in with family and friends with delicious food, astonishing ambiance and very excellent customer service.
The food is a really cross section of different Asian foods. The interior decor really evokes a beautiful Thai temple. I tried some dishes that were usually beyond my comfortable spice level and enjoyed them.
Second time here and just as good as the first. Came for dinner the first time, lunch this time, and would highly recommend going for dinner just because it is so magical at night. You feel like you are walking into a different country as soon as you enter. The food is just as good any time of day. Ordered the chicken satay (the peanut sauce is delicious) and the potstickers (excellent). Entrées were the princess chicken (braise it in the sauce that is on the bottom of the serving dish, makes a wonder of difference in taste) and the snapper (the fish sauce is great over the very tasty noodles). Dessert was the mango/strawberry sorbet with fresh fruit (tasted like the sorbet and fruit was picked from the ripest, sunniest gardens) and banana cake (the pistachio crush along with the crème Brulee soft topping of the cake made for a fabulous combination of textures in each bite). Always impressive here. Even the bidder made sure our water glasses were always filled. We were never looking for service. They were just always there before we needed them.
Appetizers got served right away, service went downhill after. Four of us were on our one hour lunch break. We went over that by an hour and have to make up time. I ordered 'to-go' and asked for separate check but did not get that. Service did not warrant more gratuity, and for sure especially not on items to 'to-go' at this point. We gave 20% gratuity nonetheless, even if it was not truly deserved.
I have dined here many times, mostly for lunch. I have recommended it to friends who have thoroughly enjoyed it.
What a beautiful restaurant !! We loved the food except we were not excited about the breading on the chicken. The appetizers and dessert were excellent !! Took advantage of the Dine In LA and the price was excellent for 3 courses. Small problem with one person being served then waiting for next person to be served and then the last two. Food was not served at the same time. We were there for lunch. The atmosphere was wonderful and the waitress attentive and informative. Front door greeting lovely. We would enjoy visiting again.
Good diverse menu - well prepared and served\nWill be back!
Despite of our reservation we waited for twenty minutes before we got our table
It may have ben an off day for lunch, but it was not busy. Service slow, somewhat distracted. Salad and an app, what's difficult with that. Salad didn't have really fresh ingredients, and the app of spring rolls was burned and dry. Will give it another try, but not for a while.
It had been a few years since I had dined at this restaurant so when my family asked me where I wanted to go for a birthday dinner I picked Rocksugar for the ambience and the food. Although the ambience was still great the food has certainly declined and our server was less than interested and very inattentive. The busboy was terrific and very prompt. Very disappointing dining experience.
The decor in hte restaurant is beautiful and interesting. Our server was very friendly and accommodating and made some great suggestions for drink and food. Our cocktails were a nice suprise as to different flavors. We had ginger margaritas which were a WOW and the coconut cocktail (pina colada?) was delicious. Loved the duck taquitos appetizers. The spicy pork dish was delicious. The only thing we were disappointed was that we didn't get any type of rice with any of our dishes. But overall we definitely want to come back with our families for a birthday, etc. Thanks.
Seated right on time for our 6:30 dinner reservation. Great service and we never felt rushed. The food was excellent. Served hot and tasty. Good wine list by the glass. Very nice for a casual Saturday night dinner.
We took a friend out to dinner for her birthday. The food and the drinks were great. Our server was very good. The only complaint was our water glasses did not get filled. We always had to ask for more water. The over all experience was very good.
For just two people the cashew chicken and veggies is more than enough food and tastes worth the money spent. Ginger Margarita is a must if you are a first timer. Sweet Martinis are a smart alternative if you prefer your dessert during your dinner meal.
Fabulous cocktails, delicious pork buns, spicy cauliflower, chicken noodle dish..can't wait to return for lunch
This was our first visit to Rock Sugar after hearing good reviews from friends. The decor is very dramatic and reminded me of trips to Southeast Asia. I was expecting great food, but the dishes seemed to lack the full flavored I would expect. The Cicken Tikka Masala tasted mostly of cumin without much zing. Shaking Beef was also bland and a small portion for the $26. Overall was not impressed.
Last meal of our vacation and it was wonderful. Attentive service and every dish was delicious.
Took my husband here for our anniversary and the ambiance is wonderful, Beautiful decor, food is good and service was superb. The Carmel shrimp was the best! had a reservation and was seated immediately. Definitely recommend this place for a date nite. A little pricey but well worth it!
I made reservation for New Years Eve. Very simple on line process. The staff was very nice and professional. My entire party was happy with their first experience with your resturantrant. Thank you for an awesome time!!!!\n\nMrs. J. Kenneybrew
Chefs' efforts thwarted by dramatically rude manager Angela, who chided us for moving to a quieter table for the sake of our elderly hard-of-hearing guest. Even though we have requested a quieter table, twice, on Open Table AND by phone. Later, after the meal, I went to point out her mistake, Angela promptly started to argue in vet loud voice & incoherent ways (as if she were in a drunken bar brawl), and made a dramatic show of summoning two staff members, escorting our family, including our children and two 86-year-old parents, out of the door, all the while repeatedly loudly announcing,'I am walking you out!' as we walked through the dining room. We're flabbergasted as to why such scene making behaviour is warranted, let alone allowed in any half-way civilised establishement. Then, again, perhaps Rock Sugar is really a place for hoodlums and therefore needs a manager who behaves like a hoodlum. Definitely not a place if one needs a touch of human decency. I shall share our experience widely.
This is the kind of place that could have done the same old TGIFridays like food and, with its excellent location and atmosphere, done really well! But piling on to that location and atmosphere is 'Pan-Asian' style food that burst with flavor! Try it; you'll like it!
Service is sooooo slow. If you sit at the bar you will be OK. Otherwise plan on two hours or longer. I had to tell my waiter we had a movie to catch so we could get our check and payment processed quickly. I only go back cause the food is so good.
The food is awesome in a spectacular architectural setting. Plates are fun to share. Tastes are expertly put together. Works great for before or after a movie or as the centerpiece of the evening.
Whenever I am in LA, this is a mandatory dinner location. Excellent service, food and atmosphere
Had excellent service, yummy and imaginative martinis. Love everything I've ever had there. Using Open Table for reservations seems to improve the service I get.
I've been to RockSugar on many occassions since I work nearby, the service can be hit or miss; it's never really terrible, but this past time our serve was just outstanding! The food is always terrific. We typically order off the prix fixe menu. Do yourselves a favor and make sure you try the warm donuts...to. die. for!
We visit Rock Sugar a lot, and it is amazing, but on rare occasions we have gotten food that is not up to their regular standard, its been a little dry, like the crab noodles this Monday. It was our guest who had ordered them and she didn't know how they really could taste, it wasn't until I tasted them that I noticed it and then when I complained it was too late because they where already gone as the waiter told me.
Great food but very noisy and cold inside. The server was attentive but forgot a couple of our dishes.
The first impression is Impressive right through to the last impression. The look of the restaurant is amazing. Our server Dane was too notch. He knows what good service is. Even the bus boy was really good. We both had the Moscow Mule which was so good. The food was great too. Lots of flavored. \nThink this will be my birthday wish.
We were seated right away and received the equivalent of chips and salsa which was very tasty.\nThen we were informed that one of our waitress's was in training. I have no problem with that, everyone goes through it at some point.\nWe ordered two appetizers and four entrees. For the price of the entrees I expected larger portions, good thing I ordered four. \nThe food was very well seasoned and tasty. I would return just for that reason.\nI will say this and it's not totally related to the meal. On the site it discusses the parking/valet services and validation. Rock Sugar no longer validates. That makes for an embarrassing moment. Let's get that updated please.
Great experience! Not at all what I expected from what seems an overdone theme restaurant on paper. Family loved the atmosphere, food and overall entire experience. My family is not easy to please and have a number of food preferences (some vegetarian, some with serious allergies, some gluten free...) but there was plenty on the menu to satisfy them all! Top notch service as well!
On the recommendation of a friend, my family went to Rock Sugar to celebrate my husband's birthday. We tried the 'tasting menu' - every dish was delicious and the portions were more than enough -in fact, we were very happy to take home leftovers. We are already looking forward to the next special occasion so that we can try new dishes. Very happy diners!
Three words Chefs Tasting Menu! Delicious... Everything we tried was great chicken samosas, fried spring rolls, sweet and hot shrimp, princess chicken and ginger fried rice. My mouth is reliving it all right now! #gowithgroups #romanticnightout. Trust me you won't be disappointed
I so enjoy coming here. The atmosphere is relaxing, peaceful and romantic. I love the family style food service. The sea bass, thai fried chicken wings, mango salad and eggplantis to die for. So many dishes I love. The coconut mojito and passion drinks are awesome. Great place to get away to with someone special or friends you love. Service is impeccable, friendly and warm.
Loved the two course lunch menu, however, the food was not timed right. Three people got their food 10 minutes before the fourth person's entree arrived and then the last person received his meal another 3 minutes after that (there were 5 of us). The first 3 people were almost finished eating by the time the last person got his food.
I hadn't been to RockSugar for a while. It was a nice treat to see the consistency in the food. The one issue was that the food all seemed to come out at the same time when the courses had been spaced further apart previously.
Had dinner here and wasn't very impressed. Food was just okay -pretty oily and salty, and service was just so so. We had to keep asking our waiter for things -- more wine, more water, our check. He just wasn't very attentive. The decor is beautiful -- but I would only go for drinks.
It was the anniversary of the night we first met so we came to Rock Sugar to celebrate. We actually had our wedding reception at Rock Sugar a few years ago, and to our surprise, we were recognized by the staff. Everything was delightful, all thanks to our attentive waiter! The pan-asian flavors leaves a lasting impression on the pallet to be savored again and again!! Thank you Rock Sugar and staff for imprinting such wonderful memories!
