8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very relaxing and quiet place in country but near Caen and Bayeux
Cons: Only 1 restaurant in town for dinner. Isolated if you don’t have a car. Taxi is expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner came outside to welcome us and give us a complete tour of the property. Over breakfast, he gave us and the other guests a detailed explanation of the surrounding touristic areas, what's interesting and what not. The building is very well restored and the rooms are very clean. The location is perfect if you want to visit all the war memorials.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Frank was the best host possible. Always helpful, always cheerful nothing is too much trouble. The property is superb as are the rooms. The breakfast is high quality and parking is available at the front of the building. The location is good for getting to Normandy attractions and is not far from Caen. One of the best places we have stayed at.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: A beautiful house in a good location. Friendly host
Cons: Wi fi was very weak. Beds were not made. Returning to a messy room is not fun
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed being provided a nice bottle of wine while sitting in the back yard. Lovely place to stay while you are in the Normandy region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed everything about this property. The location of this property for exploring Normandy and into Brittany couldn't be better. Our host and owner of the property, Franck, was most gracious and helpful. There is no elevator, but the stairway to the rooms is a beautiful stone curving stairway that was a pleasure to ascend, and only one flight up. Our room was spacious and beautiful, and included heated drying rack, hair dryer, even q-tips! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of diverse fruits, cereals, yogurt, fresh cheeses and eggs cooked to order, and the most tasty French pastries. This property is old, updated where it counts, and altogether beautiful. There were amenities we didn't have time to use, but that's a plus! Let these be a pleasant surprise when you visit.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like about this property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Frank is the Best host. Room is very clean and very chic, bathroom same quality. Breakfast is exquisit.
Cons: Rien
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing stay here, a three day weekend is just not long enough! I would definitely recommend this Chateau. We stayed in a beautifully renovated room, the old and the new complimented the rest of the Chateau and its tranquil gardens. Our host was so welcoming,on arrival we were treated to some delicious local cider. The Breakfast was plentiful and again all high quality locally sourced produce.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner was very interested in getting things right. Even offered and made dinner reservation for us.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Well located between Caen and Bayeux, so ideal to visit the Normandy beaches. Lovely old chateau, slowly being restored by Franck, the owner, who was very helpful. A B & B with just 3 rooms, all large with decent facilities and a private sitting room for guests to use. We would definitely stay again if returning to the area.
Cons: Difficult to fault, Franck offers the chateau as a home from home.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner, Valerie, was amazing and very welcoming. The facilities were super clean, comfortable and it was in a very beautiful peaceful area. We got the suite for 4-5 people (Mathilde)- it was very spacious and although it was a studio, the arrangement and lay-out made it possible for everyone to enjoy their own space. Breakfast was local food and freshly made daily. The bed and linens were fresh and incredibly comfortable. Because it is near farms, it was pitch-black at night so sleep was very deep.
Cons: Nothing. It was incredible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place. We really enjoyed the house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful B & B in the country! The property is located very close to Bayeux --just a short 10 minute drive which made it perfect for our D-Day tour! The breakfast was wonderful with the most delicious homemade jam! Valerie is such a sweet hostess! The town of Bayeux is lovely and quaint too.
Cons: No complaints!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremly charming place with great hospitality, tasteful breakfast & nice suroundings. The rooms had cool design and were nicely decorated. Very clean place. Just a short drive to D-day attractions. We would stay there again and would recommend it to others.
Cons: We were 5 people in the room and we used the loft bed. However, it was very warm up there and virtually no ventilation. The 5 bed room is perfect for up to 4 persons.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really really enjoyed the owner, the property as a whole, the room, the facilities and the breakfast! All the products were local products and they tasted amazing. Valery is a lovely host, the house is absolutely gorgeous! We felt extremely welcomed! There's a cattle and a coffee machine in the room and also there's a nice area outside where you can enjoy a glass of wine. There is a grill restaurant very close nearby where the food is really tasty and much cheaper than the fancy restaurants, so for us it was a very nice surprise and we had dinner there almost every night. :) I totally recommend this place, very close to everything we wanted to visit. The stay in Normandy as a whole was just lovely!
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and clean room on a beautiful house, located just minutes from Bayeux. Perfect location to explore Normandy. Ample place for parking and playing if you travel with young kids. Valerie, the owner, was very friendly at all times and did her best to make us feel at home and pleased.
Cons: The common areas can be expanded, i.e with a family room to watch TV or rest outside of the room. TV needs stations in English for non french speaking guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Valerie was very welcoming. A nice charming place to stay in Normandy. Perfect for a family, with separate rooms for privacy. Breakfast was delicious, and included homemade jams and fresh breads and croissants. The closest restaurants are in Bayeux, a 10 minute drive. Most Normandy attractions are not far. Merci Valerie.

Cons: Everything was more than fine!

Pros: Beautifully French. Gated small but very lovely. Spacious room. Green room had huge closet with steamer. Charming.
Cons: No real parking during day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was very good. My husband wanted fried eggs and I said we would pay, but the young lady gave this to us for free. She even helped us with our suitcase up the stairs. The room was super spacious. We booked a family suite but of course we didn’t use the other big room with two single beds. Everything was clean and tidy. Perhaps the only drawback was that there wasn’t a lift. We stayed on the first floor and there was no problem at all. Notre sejour etait tres agreable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic room: a great location - close to the centre, restaurants, shops. Spacious rooms and the bathroom, comfortable beds, quiet area. All facilities that were needed were there: fridge, tv, wi-fi, coffee, tea... Very friendly sraff, good breakfast with self-made, delicious yoghurt. This was a very comfortable stay.
Cons: The first night we did not have any Internet access, but the problem was solved later. The shower drain did not work very efficiently. For the rest - there was nothing wrong.

Pros: Further to our spacious and tastefully furnished, very neat and confortable room, we especially liked the beatiful garden, the delicious breakfast, and the super-friendly hosts - as well as the the unique, calm atmostphere of the whole place.
Cons: Really nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is one of our best B&B experiences in 40+ countries traveled. Fabienne and Lawrence, our hosts, are wonderful people who took tremendous care of us. Their B&B is beautifully decorated, from the bedrooms and house to the fantastic gardens. Our room was spacious, warm, comfortable, and inviting. We so enjoyed breakfast, with the homemade jams, the fresh fruit and yogurt, and the variety of breads. Even more enjoyable was the conversation with Lawrence and Fabienne over the breakfast table or on the patio in the evening. There are many things to see in the Bayeux region--the Normandy coast and D-Day beaches; the tapestry, cathedral, and museum in town; the cider route; etc. Perhaps the best reason to come to Chambre d'hote le 18-20 is simply to relax, recharge, and meet new friends.
Cons: Bayeux does not have a fiber network service, thus the wi-fi at this B&B may be slower than some guests might expect, but it is what you will find in the rest of Bayeux. The network company Orange is scheduled to upgrade the region's network before 2021.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The old farmhouse is perfectly decorated and the rooms are generously sized. Hospitality was amazing! The owners greeted us every morning and provided great recommendations for our program of travel. For example, they recommended a public garden in Avranches that overlooked the entire Month St Michel bay. The breakfast was fresh and comprised of home made jams and yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, bread, fruits, and coffee.

Pros: Very nice and personable owners and beautiful grounds and design. Will definitely come back and stay longer next time.
Cons: Ended up changing the accomodation I had booked to a smaller house but owners comped excellent dinner and breakfast to make up for it. Only bad thing was we only stayed one night!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Laurence is an amazing host and we had a great time. Though we only stayed one night I would absolutely choose her b&b again in the future. Breakfast was top-notch and the property was exactly what we needed. The beds were comfortable, ample space throughout, and the separate apartment allowed our family to have additional privacy. Highly recommend this place to stay when visiting the Normandy region of France.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Site was great with the river backdrop, and the self contained studio unit we stayed in was well fitted out. Donkeys, cats, hens, vegetable garden, bee hives gave lots of other items of interest around site. Also outdoor hot tub. We loved it here as base for travel at end of campsite holiday further east
Cons: Additional meals felt a little over priced at €28 and €15 for children but to be fair they were 3 courses and freshly made, and it was great to have this option available on day of arrival as you would otherwise have to travel into Bayeux for food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beauty and serenity of this property is incredible. I so enjoyed the grounds, the river where my husband actually fished (and caught some), the livestock nearby and walking through the tiny Carcagny village. The meals were delicious! Laurence is an awesome host...so welcoming, so knowledgeable, so accommodating. We are so happy we found this beautiful place.
Cons: We are used to having hand towels and wash cloths in addition to bath towels so we missed that but got along without them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff Fantastic! Great place to stay while in Normandy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved being able to get near the animals on the property, I was enthralled and our little mini home, I wanted to take it with me
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We (2 adults, 2 children) stayed here during our recent visit to Normandy (WWII sites). The location is very convenient to most of WWII sites and museums, hence the booking of this hotel via Booking.com. On arrival, the road you drive down appears to lead to no where, then all of a sudden ..... Boom! You see the entrance to this beautifully recently refurbished B&B. The gravel drive (not biker friendly) into the car park area conveniently locates you to the side of the premises where parking is available for guests. We were then greeted by Isabel who was able to communicate to us in English which helped our very poor French! She directed us to the family room which was very nicely presented and spacious. The room was clean and there was free coffee and tea facilities inside too. Outside the room are several acres of land with a horse, some donkeys an alpaca and some goat. The kids loved this as it was a little adventure for them! Breakfast was served between 8.30am - 9.45am each morning and whilst there was a nice selection of bread, croissants and pancakes - I would have liked to have seen some eggs and cheese available. On our final day, Isabel provided the kids with a small bag of carrots and bread to feed the animals which they absolutely loved. Overall the experience was very pleasant.
Cons: I would have liked to have seen some eggs and cheese available at the breakfast table or some more dairy / lactose free options.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Although we hadn't realised it was the caravan until after it was booked, the whole experience was great, everything you needed was there. The proprietor was very welcoming and the breakfast in the beautiful dining room was excellent with such a varied choice.
Cons: Can't think of anything that didn't please.

Pros: Absolutely charming host and setting. Old country manor with stone steps and the feel of a stately home. Pictures don't do it justice. Breakfast set out like a banquet with a log fire burning in the massive fireplace. Wifi reception perfect, Only booked to break our journey on to Brest but made a lovely start to our holiday. Angora goats in the adjoining field were really friendly and added to the feel of the place. We missed out on seeing the mohair products as only opens Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Chez Elena&arnaud - Caen - Building

8.9 Excellent (242 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Chez Elena&Arnaud in Caen (Saint-Ouen), you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Festyland and Caen Memorial. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Elena is a very nice host, breakfast was awesome, and there's a fantastic cat named Casper. Cats at hotels always get an extra plus from me.
Cons: My booking.com info said check-in was from 4pm which was when I arrived, but it seems check-in was from 5pm so a little confusion there, but no big deal. I never read reviews before making a booking, and the hotel was more of an Airbnb experience than Bed & Breakfast, ie like staying in someone's home. I wouldn't have chosen this option if I'd have known in advance (just personal preference), but everything was great anyway.
6.0 Good
Pros: very friendly owner great cooking facilities
Cons: the pictures on the main site page are of a much bigger apartment .i got a very small room that is advertised as a "family room" u cant swing a cat in there. would not advise it for a couple. soft mattress no kettle smell coming from the drain never the less i stayed there for 4 nights and survived - u get what u pay for
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really good - coffee was fabulous! Our bikes had a safe place for the night. The location was great as it is very close to bike paths, and an easy ride from the train station.
Cons: The toilet wasn't working well, and we could hear the other guest snoring.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Elena made a nice breakfast (fresh crossaints, pain du chocolat, yoghurt, fruit), welcomed us very nicely and the place was cosy - the double rooms are in the house where the hosts also live, we stayed in a small separate house which contains two family rooms (on the left in the dinner photo). There was everything - double bed + upper bed of the bunk, nice bathroom, table and kitchen with all supplies. We made dinner and enjoyed it in the garden. The value for money is superb.
Cons: The room is quite tight, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

Pros: Clean, well-located property with welcoming hostess and host. All worked as hoped and breakfast was typically continental- surprising, eh?

Pros: It was clean and functional. Convenient location for us. Near to a supermarket.
Cons: We drove all night, check in was from 4pm, we arrived at 4.30pm and had to wait 45 minutes for our room to be ready. Lady on reception offered no apology, just shrugged and told us to come back. We decided to stay on site and sit in the lounge as didn’t fancy getting back in the car...after 20 minutes we were offered a drink whilst we waited and she did then apologise for the delay. Also we paid cash on arrival. We were then given a receipt. The following day the same amount again was held on my debit card by Ace Hotels and not released back to me for several days. Decided not to stay for breakfast. No tea making facilities, but they did kindly fill our flask with boiling water for our onward journey!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Receptionist really welcoming and helpful. Central location. Clean and tidy eastablishment
Cons: Parking on site would be nice but as It is in the city an understandable situation. Perhaps a concise indication of the parking available nearby would be good. E g. Free on street parking after 1900 until 09-30 the next day.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: No elevator
Cons: Location, staff support and pricing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful help from Laure in reception
7.1 Good
Pros: The owner was very accommodating about check in. She had sent an email with he code to enter the front door, unfortunately we were traveling and did not get it. When we arrived it was after checking time, but she had a phone number posted and when we called she provided the code and then came down to greet us, even though she had already laid out the keys for our room on the desk. A very pleasant experience for us.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a fan in the room as it was a hot summer night, there is no A/C and street noise prevents you from sleeping with the windows open. With the windows closed it is very quiet. Also it would be a nice touch to provide a few extra pillows in the rooms. It would definitely add to the comfort of the room.

5.7 Okay
Pros: Close to train station and restaurants/shopping mall within walking distance. If you are just looking for a place to sleep with no extra fancy amenities then this hotel is fine.
Cons: No parking at hotel so you need to use the public underground parking garage. Parking is validated from 6pm to 9am. No restaurant on site. Breakfast is limited. Cereal, fruit, pastries, cheese, etc but no full breakfast choice. First room I checked into had broken AC. Initial reply from front desk was to open the window. Asked to transfer to a new room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: New and clean Parking free during night (I think it was 1800 - 0900) Friendly reception Good standard breakfast with everything available even with lots of people
Cons: not able to open windows
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is in very close walking distance to the train/bus stations as well as to the bus stops for the airport bus. A lovely area on the Orne and close to many restaurants, cinema and a shopping mall. Most staff were helpful in giving directions to needed places as I didn't have a smartphone or if they weren't, they told me when somebody else would be available who could help me. I had an upgraded room which had a bath as well as a shower and a wonderful view towards the river and town with great sunsets. I loved the relaxation corner in reception where you could make yourself a free cup of tea or coffee and help yourself to biscuits or fresh fruit. Breakfast is varied and plentiful although the only cooked options are boiled eggs and toast. Good value for money.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel looks brand-new, stayed at #309 which is very spacy, was clean decent view
Cons: Payed 130 for the night which for an ibis styles is rather on the high side....
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A really comfortable bed in a quiet room. The hotel location is ideal for arrival by train or by bus from the airport at Caen Carpiquet. The new trams now pass in front of the hotel. The river location is relaxing The breakfast is varied and good value for money with lovely fresh bread, fresh fruit salad and good coffee as well as cheeses, ham, boiled eggs, pastries etc. I loved the fact that you can make a tea or coffee when you want at no extra cost in the reception area as well as helping oneself to a biscuit or a piece of fruit. Staff were usually helpful and knowledgeable. There are many good restaurants nearby for lunch or evening meals.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, easy to find. Room was clean and very comfortable. It was spacious for a family of 4.
Cons: Nothing, with only staying for 1 night we didn't use all the facilities so couldn't really comment.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Despite the problem with the air conditioner, overall it is a good hotel in a good location. at breakfast there are no tomatoes and no cucumbers !
Cons: Although the hotel looked new and renovated, the air conditioner did not work at all - no heating and no cooling, it was impossible to operate at all and the staff could not repair it! ... We were offered another room, luckily there was a nice weather and we slept with an open window.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved this small hotel - great location (we walked from train station) such a friendly welcome, info provided and such a very comfortable bed and room.
Cons: Only tiny thing I could suggest is some milk for tea coffee as 2 tiny sachets provided not enough for one cup in Australia. It was not a problem though because upon request they delivered more.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location and helpfulness of staff
Cons: Car parking and access to hotel by car. Instructions to get to the hotel did not apply because of road works - these should have been updated to reflect a situation which had been ongoing for several weeks.

Pros: This is my second stay at this hotel. I booked last minute and I took it because of availability and the fact that they accept pets. The kitchen is very convenient but needed to ask for extra stuff as was not provided. Last time was lack of coffee/tea mugs, this time was no kettle, o no pan. the location is still a bit remote but ok if you are in a car and can drive to wherever you want to be (like the beach)
