We stayed at this place four years ago.The facility had a certain charm to it. The breakfast has deteriorated a lot since we stayed there four years ago. We bragged about the excellent breakfast and convinced our fiends this was a great place to stay with us.we also told them bout Paula. Regretfully she is no longer involved with the breakfast and we certainly miss the old room.
The hotel is integrated in the medieval city walls with a magnificent garden and an excellent restaurant. They have a pottery shop that sells lovely artisan painted terracotta - a shame we flew, so we could only bring some small items... Staying here is a huge treat!
great hotel kept in charming old fashioned style. nice indoor pool, and great restaurant. evening waiters at restaurants are very friendly. the staff is not helpful. at the reception we were told that breakfast was until 10.30 arrivingg after 10.00 nothing was left and waiters took out the food in front of us, saying we were late and not offering to bring us any food as croissants that they had left and brought to the kitchen. also the cleaning ladies were not informed about departures, but came knocking on the door, whwn we told reception to inform them about departures so they don't disturb we got a really rude answer. really bad service and a shame for a good hotel like this.
Hotel staff was fantastic, rooms were beautiful and the wine at the hotel is great!
The hotel is very charming with all the oldstyle deco. The restaurant was in fact also booked for weddings. The spa was nice even if very small and not to be used for more than 2 persons at the same time. The lounge is bigger than the whole spa area itself! The cost of the spa (jacuzzi, sauna and steamroom) should be included in the price which is high for a 3 star hotel. Also, the fact that weddings make noice until late night is not acceptable for other hotel guests, sleeping right next to the restaurant court yard, where they have parties. The cleaning of the room was another issue. There were really dirty also on the areas outside the room (in front of room 144).
The place was clean, the room was pleasant, the swimming pool was an advantage, and the staff was very polite and helpful.
This hotel is inside the Chianti zone. few kms from Florence. I found a relaxing context in a romantic scenario. The resturant have a good offering of typical Toscana food. The room was clean, in old style and the employee was kindly. Maybe the hotel need more indication on the roads of figline valdarno. I found it only with the help of my GPS system.
friendly atmosphere no
Easy access to rest of town. Swimming pool. Attentive staff.
The area out back with the terrace and pool was absolutely lovely! The hotel keeper was a real help, too. I liked being able to get a nice glass of wine right in the lobby of the hotel...very nice. I loved the AC. It worked wonderfully! I did not like that so many people were smoking in the lobby in front of the television, so I didn't really want to spend any time in there. Parking was also a bit of a hassle since cars aren't allowed to park near the hotel until after 10pm. We had to go and get our car before we went to bed.
The family was very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better. Also, it was very quiet. Great Breakfast and a gorgeous pool!!!!!!
Very friendly warm staff the room had everything we needed Loved the pool and the community aspect of the hotel, late at night there is always people hanging around and having a good time and having good conversation. I would recommend this place to anyone Thankyou Marco, Francesco and David
The hotel is in the center of the town and has a lovely inside garden.
Room was okay, and fairly quiet. Nice pool area outside, but it was cool and we didn't use it. It was hard to get to, as the piazza it was on was closed to traffic for a market day. Parking was difficult, and not very close. The piazza was pleasant in the evening, however, with some good restaurants.
Breakfast buffet was very good as there were variety of foods i.e. ham, cheese, fruits, different kinds of breads, etc.
A comfortable and quiet hotel in a cosy square in a nice town in a beautiful area in Chianti.
In addition to the price, location, and hotel staff being superb, the breakfast was excellent. Although the walk wasn't far, there was zero parking.
The room was large and had a wonderful view. Staff were great and restaurant on the premises, served fabulous dinners. Some of our best in Italy and well priced. Grounds were lovely. having breakfast served in our room was not convenient, given the room was not set up for eating.
location, peace, tranquility, the building and its decor Inconvenience having to make own arrangements to locate a taxi to take me to and fron the villa
Pleassant place No
Unbelievable scenary and a beautiful hotel
Excellent restaurant and very accommodating staff
the setting and the villa in general the room - clean, but really basic and in need of re-decoration
its location, very helpfull staff and the room itself. everything was perfect.
The views from the hotel are amazing. The food is excellent.
large room, big jacuzzi, view terrace front desk spoke limited english
rubbish underneath our balcony!!!!! :((((
Beautiful view Wonderful location Great restaurant Wifi not free
Breakfast very poor, internet connection wirrless only by pay, Not enough chairs in the garden only 10 and that for a SPA
This is a beautiful hotel and area to stay in. What a view of the country side from our room my husband and I loved it. The hotel is clean and all common areas very comfortable. The restaurant served us a great meal.
The Villa is impressive and we really looked forward to our stay. The rooms were great -- clean and good sized. Unfortunately the smoking from other rooms always came into our room which we noticed especially at night. The jacuzzi and pool weren't heated so couldn't be used. At least having the jacuzzi heated would have been a big plus. The porch wasn't clean as people would just stamped out their cigarettes there where they sat for the rest of us to have to manuever around. An ashtray or two could help. There was no bar or room servce during the day. My husband had a lobster dish and the lobster wasn't good but my dish was very good.
The atmosphere that the hotel provided both inside and out... They were very helpful when we were stranded without transportation! There wasn't a stand up shower in our room. The hotel could not recommend off site restaurants
uitstekend cuisine It was summed up by the brochure....beautiful and expensive glossy colour photos, but nobody had taken the trouble to check the use of English. One lift (blocked by cleaning staff) and no stairs to the room, inadequate parking, poor lighting in the room all showed the lack of attention to detail, despite the fortune spent on the building. However, the staff were (mainly) charming, though this was the first time I had to carry all our own bags to the room while the young porter walked nonchalantly beside me.
Hotel building is gorgeous and in a beautiful setting, rooms were lovely and very glam. food in the restaurant was delicious. The atmosphere was cold, the hotel staff were often not available, the bar was not manned and there were no lounge facilities, no hotel information in the rooms, area around the pool was overgrown and there were insufficient beds for number of guests, same people took the best tables every night at dinner.
Staff was very helpful even calling ahead to a pizzeria on Sunday to be sure it was open. A luxury hotel that is not quite luxury. For example my room was very spacious, but had almost no natural light due to very small windows.
The calmness and the beautiful views and gardens surrounding the hotel
Villa Le Barone is situated in beautiful Tuscany. The landscape is just as I imagined it would be. Lovely gardens and rolling hills. The staff was very attentive and the food delicious. If you are looking for a very quiet get away with plenty of relaxation this is the place to go. The common areas are charming with plenty of antiques and interesting things to look at. I felt like I'd traveled back in time. At times, I felt it was a little too quiet. The dining areas felt like you couldn't talk above a whisper so not to disturb the other quests.
Peaceful, historic, traditional, authentic, non-commercial, beautiful countryside, beautiful gardens & setting, beautiful swimming pool, nearby historic attractions (large and small), wonderful staff. Top quality food served in homely style.
Beautiful setting with relaxed atmosphere coupled to excellent service Only very small things that were brought to their attention
The hotel was located near the center of Grevi in Chianti so it was quite convenient. The room was big enough and clean. I didn't have any problem. Personally, the decoration of the room looked a bit cheap, but considering the price and the length of my stay, it didn't bother me much.
Bedroom and shower room both large, airy and scrupulously clean. Balcony/Patio area an unexpected bonus. The owners were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and food fresh. There were no problems with the parking. Greve is an excellent base for exploring this beautiful region and with many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance and with excellent bus links one can forget the car for a week. We will return.
The staff work hard to make sure everything is right for your comfort and convenience. The breakfast was served up with many choices including fresh buns, fruit and meats and cheese. This was accompanied with great capacinnos. Location is great for hiking in the hills of Chianti, grocery shopping for provisioning and for enjoying a great meal at a great price at two restaurant - trattorias across the road. Free parking available close by. Loved the place!
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Room is very clean and very quiet. Breakfast ample and good. Overall, this is a very good hotel, you will get what you pay for and more. I have no complaint about this hotel, only the man- in-charge looks a bit 'cool', he should 'smile' more.
Clean and comfortable hotel. Good location.
We had a wonderful stay! The accomodations and surrounding countryside were gorgeous. The staff was delightful and provided wonderful recommendations for meals, wine tasting, and site to visit.
This was one of my favorite hotels during my 2 week stay in Italy. Loved the villa, its interior, location, views, staff was excellent and helpful and the food was very good as well. The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. Would highly recomend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Chianti. There was nothing I did not like about it.
Location. the young kitchen staff who was the only person we had any contact with during our stay there. Lack of welcome. Very disappointed with our stay, Many times i have stayed with the Relais chain through Europe and was always impressed with the service, staff and accomadation. On arrival we where not shown to our room, no information regarding breakfast or facillities. We where just handed the key and that was it. we never saw any one after that but the kitchen staff. we would get our key of the board ourselves when we came in at night. this made me very uncomfortable as any one had acess to the keys-no security. There was no safe and no mini bar where you could have acess to water. Really not to the Rellais standard of care and commitment.
location wonderful views peace and quiet cold in the public areas and bedrooms . Owner was not contactable as did not live on site. Good place in summer as heating not required.
The very friendly and helpful staff. The room furnishings, the architecture of the building, the breakfast and the location in Chianti. Nothing.
Breakfast was great. The Croissant, the best ever. Nice Location. Very good hotel.
The guided vineyard tour, wine tasing and cooking class, all hosted by the same man. Wonderful! The cooking class was just my husband and I and it was such a wonderful experience, full of history of Tuscan cooking and great stories. The food and matching wine was to die for! The only negative was we were staying in the farmhouse, and there is no internet available, so you have to walk up to the main villa.
Relaxing and walking in the nice parks and gardens, good food, fine wine and for all fine hospitality.
Beautiful view and setting. Friendly and helpful staff. Large rooms. Climbing 30 steps to the room. Limited WiFi access.
My husband and I loved the apartment! We stayed in apt. #4 and found it to be so cozy and the little patio overlooked the valley of the town of Greve which we enjoyed each evening. It was very romantic. We had a little kitchenette so we made wonderful little meals and enjoyed the wine from the Villamaggio winery!! I highly recommend staying here.
The bed was great! The views are wonderful. Getting there was half the fun. We found the staff a little stiff and not very accomodating. The front desk was closed by 7pm. The breakfeast room was down the street in another building. The wine that was in the lobby/reception area for guests was corked. This is a remote location. You must have a car. When booking we were told only two room apartments were avaiable, however when we got there we found many single rooms empty!
Gorgeous setting, comfortable apartment with view, great breakfast space, pool. The perfect romantic getaway. We needed to drive to restaurants. This is only a minor drawback, but it should be noted that the streets are very windy and confusing.
The place was beautiful and the grounds were wonderful to explore. Best hot tub too!
Location was great and staff very friendly. Restaurant was charming on both ground floor and terrace. Very difficult to park near the hotel on weekends due to fairs which close the Piazza on which the hotel is located. Puiblic parking is sparse.
The warm atmosphere at this small "family" style drivven hotel. Their restaurant at the terrasse facing the village plaza is fantastic. So is also their staff. Value for money + good location for exploring the Chianti area. Greve is right in the middle. We extended our stay at our room with private balcony. Nothing
It was right on the piazza. Noisy. There was a band playing in the piazza until late at night.
Location was excelent for Tuscany. No elevator for seniors
We were attending a wedding and staying here meant we could mix with the other guests prior to the wedding. The staff were friendly, helpful and most obliging. The room was very comfortable and it was lovely to have a balcony attached to it. No--everything was spot on.
