There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel, the staff is extremely helpfull and the rooms and entourage are lovely. It's a very romantic hotel, but I felt very welcomed by the staff and I had two young children with me. I especially liked the private spa (all to ourselves for an hour!), where one can relax, and enjoy sauna and jacuzzi. My children were welcome to use these facilities which I appreciated. A special thanks to Corinne, who went to any lenght to accomodate us. The restaurant is very recommendable, the starters might be a bit on the pricy side but worth it.
Especially the tasteful decoration and furniture in the rooms as well as in the common parts of the hotel and the very frienly and professional staff Apart from the excellent breakfast (in a nice breakfast area) and a rather expensive à la carte restaurant it would be good to have facilities for snacks, salads etc.. at the hotel, especially for lunch. I did not like the swallow nests and especially the dirty terrace pavement !
Beautiful building and an excellent location. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. Unfortunately we were there at a time when the farm next door (ie buildings 50m away) was re-fertilising or something similar and the whole hotel smelled of manure. We couldn't open our window. Also, the spa was cold (35 C max) so wellness facilities weren't great.
Great location, stunning place, beutifull rooms and bathroom, good restaurant None,
A very nice place with friendly staff, free private wellness, great breakfast. Construction works in the morning that woke us up.
Friendly, competent and attentive staff, quiet rooms and location, nice restaurant (dinner only) standard rooms small, inner yard and parking area appear unfinished,
The setting and staff were excellent. The bedroom was comfortable and luxurious. The restaurant was welcoming but there was only a set menu with no choice. However the meal was delicious and memorable. We would like to stay there again.
Beautiful new rooms, amazing breakfast, frienldy staff.
the building The spa is far too small, very noisy because there was a wedding celebration on Saturday evening until 4 o'clock, then there was a truck who moved away the installations, still very noisy!
An excellent stay, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast and very comfortable room Muddy carpark!
Free WLAN in the room. Big and clean room. Staff is very friendly.
Breakfast is good Jacuzzi only for one person, room is very simple with minimum services for a luxury hotel and compare with other ones with same price is really low.
The treatments in the spa area and also the choice at breakfast. The room was smaller than I thought having read reviews before I went. The water in the swimming pool and jacuzzi was quite cold.
The setting of both the hotel and the town are truly amazing and for that alone it would be worth a visit. If it's a quiet time you're looking for then it would be hard to find better than this. I was surprised for a hotel that calls itself 'International' that there were no menus in English. I also believe any hotel that caters for business people really should have wireless internet connection available.
The wellness area (swimming pool, jakuzzi, sauna complex), location of hotel, breakfast buffet The sauna area was clearly indicated to be a naked area only. nevertheless quite some people didn't respect that rule, causing certain people to be upset. The rules are clear for everyone.
I liked the relaxed atmosphere in the hotel, the food is nice and enjoyed the Wellness facilities.
The fact that they provided transport from and to the train. Also, the room was quite spacious and the breakfast was very good. no.
The spa is really nice and the gourmet restaurant was also very good The room smelled a bit of dog, so I suspect that someone had their pet with them there.
location, restauration, comfort
The location Everything is payable, even to open the minibar in the room, you have to ask a key at the reception. That key costs EUR 1,50.
Position and good reception staff
Vincent was terrific!! Nice fellow. We wish him the best. The restaurant service was horribly slow. We were amazed the first night. Then, on the 2nd night it took 2 Hours-10 minutes for us to have only two courses. We did not come again on the 3rd night, and would not stay there again.
the view and the peacefulness
Absolutely beautiful and exceptional location. Unfriendly, arrogant staff. Hotel with pretentions it doesn't live up to. Beautiful location, but otherwise no reason for 4-star rating (average 3-star in terms of service, room quality, facilities, etc). Quality of the food in the restaurant was mediocre (except for the - expensive - wine list that was quite good), and service was bad, unfriendly, inflexible and amateuristic. Room spacious but hardly decorated. Walls and carpet full of stains, looking like 10 years old (whereas the hotel is quite new). Rooms are noisy. All in all, exceptional location (must see: Bourscheid Castle!), but mediocre hotel and bad in terms of quality-price.
Hotel is situated in the middle of nature. Peaceful location next to a lovely stream. Food was fine, but not up to culinary standards. Personal is really trying their best to make guests happy, but are understaffed so service could be improved even more. Beds are luxuriously soft and comfi, but you have to like this. Superior room is very spacious and has beautiful bathroom. Hotel is "in the middle of nowhere" so not much options for going out or having dinner in another restaurant. The kitchen had trouble in preparing the steaks (mixed up the sauce, well-done/medium), we had to send it back. But then it came back perfect. There was glass on the floor in the room, and even after telling the manager, it was still there (after they've vacuumed). In our opinion it was not right that the manager corrected his staff in front of the guests.
The overall location in a meander of the river is attractive. The nearby ruins of the castle of Bourscheid are worth visiting and can be seen from the hotel grounds. Supper was excellent (35€ menu) and personnel attentive. Breakfast was very good too, fresh home-baked bread was a topper. On the Booking.com site we booked non-smoking rooms, but there were no non-smoking rooms. Unfortunately our clean and beautiful room had been used just before by very heavy smokers. Because of that we had to sleep with the window open leading to another problem: the train passing by every hour awoke us a bit too often. With everything closed the night-trains are not a problem we suppose.
Flexible staff, asked for my breakfast earlier, wasn't an issue! No room-cleaning during my stay!
Peaceful & relaxing At the time of booking room included meals, we could only eat between 6.00-8.00pm
Wonderful situation with very helpful and polite staff. The quality of the food is excellent and served perfectly but slow. The only problem was the waiting time at dinner, one night we waited 50 minutes for our starter, dinner takes up to 2 1/2 hours
The hotel was clean and comfortable, but it was the location that was amazing! Set in a valley overlooking the Sure River with a view of the castle.. it was idyllic. It was the most quiet, peaceful hotel I have ever stayed in.
The location is excellent. We've been here before so we already know this. The service is very good and the breakfast was much better than the last time. We took the gastronomic package but the the two dinners (3-course & 5-course) were very disappointing. I'm sure the chef was not the same one we had a few years ago. The last time we had dinner at this hotel, the food was exceptional. Back then, it was truly a wonderful gastronomic experience. I would still recommend this hotel for the great location and the good service...but the dining experience was rather mediocre.
Very nice and quiet surroundings Its remote location and difficulty to find it, even when using a Garmin road planner
service,breakfast and location
Although it was winter, cold and raining we arrived and felt immediately welcomed. Warm inside the hotel and a warm welcome from al the staff. We had a comfortable room and we could enjoy our stay without any problems.
Room had space, staff was very educated and nice, Hotel place was beautiful and breakfast was good.
very child friendly hotel and staff, we had a 3 month baby with us and we had taken the gourmet package, the staff were very accomodating and let us take the baby along..we we noticed that in the bathroom the shower curtain wasnt working well, the water would overflow onto the bathroom floor.. that can be corrected
The location is wonderful. Overlooking a small river with a castle in the hills above. The restaurant was also excellent with both dinner and breakfast being very good. The only downside was the smell of our room. Although a non-smoking room, we suspect decades of smoking in the room has given it a very particular smell. My wife struggled to sleep with the smell. The room was otherwise clean.
Lovely location, reasonable sized room and clean. Staff rather aloof at arrival and not very helpful, though the lady on the last day was nice.
Friendly staff and facilities Room needed renovation - program currently underway
Restaurant, good secure parking facilities
Helpfull staff. Clean and up-to-date buildings. Please be aware that "suite" does not imply a 2 room appartment (just a private balcony and jaccuzi compared to the luxury room).
Very clean modern room and bathroom. Beds were comfortable.
Great room with wonderful views of the castle from the balcony Unfortunately, stay was spoiled by noisy people in the next room. I dont appreciate having to get up at 2.45am to tell them to shut up!
The staff went to great trouble to make this a romantic stay as my partner and I celebrated our one year anniversary. Fantastic staff, great location and a filling breakfast.
Superb Room. Great breakfast. Location very good for Public Transport.
At the night beautiful view to the Vianden palace. Excellent menu and very delicious food.
Cleanliness excellent, good breakfasts Room 211 at front was extremely noisy. Would only recommend the hotel on the basis of quiter rooms at the rear,
the location and the view of the hotel are breathtaking, staff was very nice and helpfull, gurmet dinner was a first class meal but not overpriced. no
Great location for motorcycle trip. Superb staff, very helpful and friendly. Excellent food.
Staff were friendly. Village location was nice Bed was uncomfortable. Room in the attic was very small and claustophobic, not like the photos on the website. Showerhead needed descaling. Food was very disappointing - i had a vegetarian pan dish that looked like it had all the leftovers just chucked into a pan. Describing a few home trainers squeezed into a dingy cellar is not my understanding of a "gym". Not the fault of the hotel, but very important to mention for those light sleepers like me - every 30 minutes during the night the church bell rang, wakening me up each time. At 06:30 it rang out for at least 2-3 minutes, and after that sounded every 15 minutes, so planning a lie-in is impossible. I found thïs hotel was not 'gourmet & relax" and my "comfort"room uncomfortable
Well situated in Esch. Nice terrace for drinks/ dinner. Interesting old building. The food in the restaurant was not great, and overpriced given the quality. Also, the "wellness" centre and whirlpool is rather overstated, being a small jacuzzi bath for one person, and a small sauna that you have to request to use in the morning. Although it is a nice hotel, I think it has too grand an opinion of itself.
Great shower and steam bath in our room. Food service very accommodating throughout day and very good. No elevator and the room we had was up some very winding narrow stairs so we left our suitcase in car and had to bring clothes up as needed.
Excellent service by the staff, clean rooms and facilities, excellent menu, handy location to many attractions and city, small town atmosphere. Lack of English translation on menu, no tea and coffe making facilities in room or in amenities areas, breakfast buffet crowded.
The hotel restaurant is excellent - location is very pretty
The kitchen is excellent, copious breakfast. Bed comfortable (although not with double bed). Bathroom is high standard. Parking is not provided, difficult to find place around. Heating was not working upon arrival and only started to be warm in the room at 5 a.m.
The restaurant is excellent; the bedroom small but extremely clean, the area wonderful carrying suitcases all through the stairs
Superb location, quiet village, nicely renovated streets and hotel too. Excellent for an excursion trip to learn Luxemburg. Good food, fast service. Friendly waiters. The hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel, but it doesn't reach that level, it's rather a 3 star performance, it's overpriced for the luxury rooms. We booked the "Design Deluxe Studio" through Booking.com, but didn't get it, though the pricing stayed! Room floor and jacuzzi were not clean, lot's of hairs left from previous guests. Owners must have abandoned smiling years ago. Rather didn't want to complain not to spoil our weekend. It's not bad at all, actually good, but the rating should be reviewed and the pricing, plus some professional attitude (to get 4*) to be added.
All round great hotel lovely staff, very clean beautiful building and furniture.
Good location. Helpful friendly staff. Were given very helpful directions to our next location. Evening meals were very good with great service. Room was small but very elegant. Lovely decor. Bathroom was small and door opened inwards, caught my foot more than once. Would have liked greater choice of bread at breakfast, only given 2 white rolls and a small croissant, I like brown bread.
The hotel was clean, attractive, comfortable and in a great location. Our room had a lovely balcony, with vines and greenery that gave a nice feeling of privacy. The bathroom was fresh and up to date. The owners were very friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
The hotel was an absolute gem and our host utterly charming. We could not fault anything. But if arriving by car, be sure to reserve a parking place.
Great location in Vianden! Staff upgraded our triple room to 2 doubles with a bathroom in between...however, the triple room (king with a single) may have actually been more comfortable. Each of the double rooms just had enough room for the double beds. The triple down the hall had more floor space and a desk and chair. Since it was off season, the hotel was not very full, and the staff probably though the privacy of the extra room when extending the upgrade so that was nice.
The ambiance in the hotel is excellent, food is excellent. Hotel staff extremely obliging, wonderful location would definitely stay again.
Large, comfortable rooms, very good food. Motorcycle garage, Friendly owner. Bit light on staff, owner seemed to be doing most jobs (restaurant, bar)
The hotel proprietors were very friendly and were always willing and able to help us with recommendations on places to visit in the area. We were made to feel very much at home in this delightful family hotel. We felt we were treated as very welcome guests of the family which added greatly to our enjoyment of the week we spent at the hotel in Vianden.
The owners were great. The breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. The couple worked to make our stay a good one. No
Convenient to explore the medieval town. Interesting old building. Make sure you book parking space or you could have a problem.
friendly stuff, central location, excellent cusine resonable prices
We booked a double room, but when we arrived the only room they had available was the family room, which they gave us at the double price. It was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located in town, close to river and castle. Good restaurant in the hotel. Patio seating was nice since the weather was warm. Free parking in rear of hotel.
the view you cant smoke but i did know this before i booked
nice room, good situated in Vianden noisy untill late at night
The room was simple, but comfortable and spotless. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel restaurant served great pizza and had an outstanding breakfast buffet. Great european breakfast with an assortment of cerals, juices, sweet and regular breads, softboiled eggs, cheeses, fruit, yogurt andcold meets. A great way to start the day. It was a great location, right by the river. Personnel quite nice. It was a great value! I would stay again. Not really.
Excellent. Fantastic value for money and the staff were more than helpful..top tip, try and get the upgraded rooms..we only paid 10 Euro more and it was more than worth it.
the jacuzzi in the room was nice, the penthouse suite was very large and clean the breakfast is quite poor and only until 10am
The room was quite spacious. Really good fitness facilities. We have got a bottle of wine at departure, as a present. The hotel pretends to be luxury, on one side. On another side, one lamp in the hall and a couple in the room were broken. There was enougth light though from other sources. Second, then you see the beds freely rolling around the room on small weels, you realize that it is exactly a 'Family room' and not e.g. a 'Romantic room'.
Wonderful location, pleasant staff, good breakfast The noise from the bar late at night..especially as hotel literature told the guests to be quiet!!
The relaxed atmosphere Not eno ugh english TV speaking channels
very friendly stuff, excelent dinner, i do recommend the gastronomic package
The hotel is centrally located in Vianden and seems very popular with local people, always a good sign. Our room was very clean , spacious and quiet. Both the Breakfasts and Main Meals were top class. The hotel allowed us to park our motorbikes off road even though it says it has no parking facilities. We will be returning. Two of us booked on seperate reservations and because we turned up together the hotel produced one bill. Not a clever move
The Hotel Victor Hugo provides a clean, basic stay in the heart (such as it is, with a population of 1,500) of Vianden. We stayed in the room right across from the sauna area. It looked inviting, but we were only there for a night and didn't partake.
Hotel staff were really good, friendly and helpful. Breaskfast really delicious and plentiful. Room was a bit cold and the last day we didn't have any heating or hot water in the morning!
The position of the hotel is right in the centre of the town by the river which is very attractive. The hotel has a bar which was quite noisy late at night.
The views were amazing. the towels were poor quality. Car parking was not provided by the hotel but was on street parking and was difficult when parents were picking up thier children from the next door school
Great location of the hotel; great room (view, cleanliness) when looking at value for money; very friendly hotel staff; phantastic dinner and breakfast; simply a very enjoyable stay!
Great hotel in a truely fantastic village, beautifull surroundings very friendly place, i will go back one day.
The city of Vianden is beautiful. This hotel has a good located; from some rooms you can see the Castle of Vianden which is close. A free parking is available 25m from the hotel. Nice bar & very good restaurant as well! Rooms are small, but clean and are coming at a very good price. They ask a PIN code for Credit Cards; actually this seems to happen in many places in Lux or France, so it may be just my fault I don’t remember this.
Very good location and the food and atmosphere at dinner (Sat night) was copious and good without being gourmet. Quite basic facilities.
Breakfast The quality of the food in the restaurant
The room was nice and big, tha bathroom looked luxury and had a bath! The breakfast was good, the buffet offered enough choices for a nice breakfast and to our supprise there was a swimming pool! The staff was very helpfull and friendly. There was nothing we didn't like but maybe the hotel might consider installing airco or ventilation in the rooms because during our stay it was very hot outside and quite warm in the room (although opening the windows in the evening helped a little.
Central for visiting museums in area. Found Excellent Clevaux Toy Museum close to Hotel. Evening meal was good. Good value for the price. My room struggled to heat up even after turning the radiators on full. Swimming pool is 'Refreshing' in temperature.! Breakfast was ok-ish. Note; the Eggs are raw. You have to boil them. (Yes i did make the mistake.! )
"Bikers Welcome". Having ridden there from Zeebrugge in very warm weather, the swimming pool etc.was great. After the Sunday evening dinner 'difficulty', the breakfast was extremely good. We arrived on Sunday evening, and the restaurant was having a mussels- only night. None of our party of 4 adults can stand the smell of those large buckets of mussels! However, we ate a 3-course meal, only 300 metres away, for 10 euros each.
Good service, newly refurbished rooms, friendly staff, location right in the town next to the castle.
central location, open and friendly atmosphere bedsheet material, length of blankets a bit on the short side.
The staff were extremely friendly, and the food in the restaurant was exquisite.
Facilities are very basic.
Friendly staff and clean room. Very uncomfortable bedding. Rather expensive for the room we got.
Nice, renovated and spacious room, located in the center of a very nice small town. Ideal for a short week-end break.
We found the staff proffessional while being personable. The interesting and attractive bathroom design really added to the room. The breakfast serving area was a little cramped, but the homemade preserves were a nice touch. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we were worried about the train, but it never bothered us.
Excellent food, cozy bar, very 'stylish' rooms (deluxe room is really exceptional!) and eally nice owners. If this is always he standard, this is a **** hotel, not *** ! none
Staff were very efficient, friendly and supportive of each other, very much a team effort.
It is very convenient for walking. We had a wonderfull day on the hills Very noisy from early morning to about 7pm with traffic. Also fairlt noisy internally. We had requested a quiet room.
Hotel was easy to find. Parking was effortless. Room was clean & well presented. Spaceous , but not ott. Bar staff were rude.
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food.
Free access to internet in hotel lobby, friendliness of hotel staff, cozy bar in hotel, nice breakfast. No, but Clervaux itself is a pretty quiet town. We stayed there because it is only about 20 minutes by car to Bastogne.
Freindly staff, nice location, good breakfast.
I stayed one night and it was great: a friendly and polite staff, a tidy and quite spacious room, a comfortable bed, a clean bathroom and above all a festive breakfast.
The brasserie and restaurant served nice food for a good price. Free access to the spa and swimming pool inside the hotel are a nice addition.
The whole atmosphere The parking under the hotel is rather narrow for a large car
Every member of staff w encountered, from front of house to spa, was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. I have stayed here once previously and experienced the same and even though the hotel was full and very busy it made no difference.Location is excellent and the spa and pool facilities add an extra dimension to the location. some rooms have been decorated, others not, this time I had booked two rooms, one had new bathroom, etc. the other was awaiting upgrade. Not a major problem, the room was clean and tidy but bathroom a little tired. Would not stop me rebooking or recommending though.
Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Dining was very good and good value.
Exellent service and attention to detail by all the staff. First class!!!!. Would definatly make a return visit. Good location and much to do in the surrounding area. Perhaps more translation into English on certain written material, but hey us Brits are very lazy about learning a second or third language.
The room was lovely, the bathroom was really big and the restaurant food was excellent. The bed was too soft, my hiusband got backache and the pillows were too full and firm and hurt my neck.
Set up of the room was perfect for our circumstances, offering co-travels amazingly high privacy but overall excellent social arrangemetns. The pool-spa-sauna facilities were also great Staff, especially at the spa, were a bit stuff.
Food was good. Some staff helpful The rooms were large, we had a superior room, but very bland. No mirrors in the bedroom, no tissues. No double beds but they did put on a doubel top sheet under the two duvets. Wish we had been told as we hate the separate beds thing.
Location was beautiful close to many sites. Surrounding area and community was very friendly jacuzzi was a little cold for our tastes
Excellent breakfast buffet. A woman staff member at the reception desk was very helpful in solving internet and printing problems on the lobby computer system. The bathroom was attractive, but not functional. No towel rods or shelving to put your personal belongings and the motion controlled lights kept turning off when I was in the shower.
The hotel is beautiful, staff amazing. Met at door, welcomed, shown to room. Room beautiful, Terrence overlooking garden and town. Food was wonderful, chef came out to greet guests and ask how our meal was. Once at hotel location is great, beside the castle and in the middle of old Wiltz. The hotel is hard to find from train station, too far to walk and no taxi. We took local bus which was ok as we got to see quite a bit of Wiltz we wouldn't have seen on foot. Not a complaint just a note. Most guests arrive by car so not an issue.
Very nice and cozy hotel, with a very nice staff. We enjoyed thw twp nights we stayed there. The food was excellent. We will certainly will be back and also recommend to our friends.
Delightful location; good food. Thin walls (as commented on before but thinner then expected!) Late closing restaurant.
The staff were exceptionally friendly. The bathrooms were very modern and dramatic. The food is also very good and reasonably priced. Parking can be a problem. There is limited parking near the hotel and the nearest free parking is up a steep hill. There is a smoky smell coming from the open grill.
We loved the old rustic inn feel of the place and the contrast of the very modern and new facilities in the room. The food was excellent and much of it was cooked on a open wood burning range. The lack of parking is a minus but there is pay and display parking quite near by.
Very cute, nicely maintained, old building. modern, remodeled bathrooms. Pleasant, helpful staff, and a good, busy restaurant.close to the castle, you could sit out at tables, on the street, to eat, and drink, felt, and looks, like a medieval inn Could use a screen on the window
Everything was great. No hesitatations about recommending this hotel.
Modern clean room, Good food, Helpful staff. Parking can be difficult in Veinen
The food was great and the wine selection awesome. Well, on the first day the heating was not on. Big no-no at the end of November I would think. When they turn it on it was ok although we could have used a few centigrades more. The next day we were woke up by the sweet sound of a hammer drill - the freezer was broken and needed urgent repairs that took two days. I understand the need for repair work but not when I'm asleep (it was 9am and I was on holiday!!!). To top it all up on the last day there was no hot water! It might have been just our bad luck to get all this in two days but to be honest it did ruined our stay.
A 17th century inn with (nonetheless) all mod cons and a great kitchen to boot (worth a detour). Been coming there for years now. They only have 8 or 9 rooms! So be early.
Very nice staff, wonderful restaurant (if you like meat)
Excellent food in resetaurant in the evening, nice setting Poor breakfast, room resembled a lodge even though we upgraded to a suite
Good service, beautiful location, great food, very nice room, nice pool. none
everything was excellent. only one small point, bacon and at breakfast were cold.
The facilities and comfort as well the location We woudl have preffered a bed with double mattres
Friendly greeting on arrival, helpful staff, room spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished, great location in beautiful part of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, fabulous view from room. Restaurant great food if a little pricey!
Great location for exploring the Ardennes / Bastogne region. Good size rooms, well decorated. Friendly staff. Shopping centre nearby.
Excelllent family run hotel, staff were all very pleasant, room were very clean and nicely decorated. Resturant was good. No bad points
Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff and management, excellent food and restaurant service, lovely surrounding countryside and towns.
Very unfriendly staff when arriving...rest was OK.
It is a grea\t family run hotel that is friendly, welcoming and professional. Nothing
friendly staff, nice location near to nature, good value, clean and newly renovated room
The staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating, rooms were clean.Access from car to hotel was good. We felt room a little cluttered, if the large couch was replace by a chair there would have been more room and no one offered to help with luggage.
Owners went out of their way to ensure the needs of the customer were met in relation to my wife and I. The location is a little off the beaten track when trying to access the main European routes.
Location was excellent for our battle field touring. Service was exceptional and quality of food was great.
Very nice and quite rooms, excellent bathroom, good restaurant, reasonable price
Everything - the room, the cleanliness, the friendliness and local knowledge of the owner and staff, the excellent food (I would recommend the half board option), the atmosphere of the hotel, its location (great for touring surrounding area), and its price (fantastic value for a hotel of this calibre). Access to shower a bit on the tight side.
Picturesque location, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food in restaurant. Rooms OK (a bit small) with very modern fittings etc
Everything. the hotel was immaculately clean, The staff were excellent so attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant service and food again excellent. We both loved it and would go back there again with no hesitation. It is an absolute gem. We were recently at a 5 star hotel in Spain where the staff and management would benefit from visiting this hotel and learn just how to run a hotel.
Nice staff, good basic food, easy to find, beautifull surroundings Dated, worn carpets, dated bathroom, dated room, quite hot, no airco.
Our bedroom itself was very comfortable and the hotel grounds are pleasant. There was ample parking space when we where there, although parking might be a problem when the hotel is busy. The map for and directions to the hotel are wrong - it is actually located in Gaichel , about two miles from Eischen. When we arrived (in the pouring rain) the Hotel reception was closed and we had to book in at another hotel about 100 yards away, The Hotel says it has its own restaurant but this was closed the evening we were there. The nearby hotel offered only "gourmet" meals for a minimum of 48 Euros per head so we had to go to Arlon for dinner. The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow (no lift) and both younger and older people found it difficult to carry luggage up them. Our bathroom was very small and poorly laid out and the combined bath and shower unit was, in our opinion, very difficult to use safe
Great location. Restaurant was modern and attractive. It wasn't clear during bookking that we would have to share a bathroom. Also, the heating in our room frequently didn't work and there were insufficient blankets and towels. The restaurant staff seemed to regard guests as a nuisance and weren't keen to help. There is also a smell from the deli downstairs that permeates the hotel.
Restaurant was very good Lighting in foyers and on stairs/landings was short duration self switching. Shower and toilet a long way from room.
The town of Vianden is beautiful and the location of the hotel was superb. Renovation work was still on going and we were disturbed by drilling at 7.50am. As our stay was in late March, the town was very quiet and everything closed early.
The hotel lighting system is very dangerous. It is on a timer system, I was half way up a staircase to my room, and it suddenly went pitch black. I had to feel my way to the light switch completely in the dark. How I didn't fall I don't know. I will never use this hotel again. I asked for a cup of coffee and was told that none was available. Neither could they offer breakfast before 8.30am. My coach was leaving at 8.15am on 28/4 from the Grand Hotel Vianden. I asked if I could have an early breakfast, but was told breakfast was not until 8.30. I had breakfast at the Grand Hotel before leaving. The cost of breakfast was deducted from the bill.
location parking problems (on market days), confusion over opening times of the restaurant, breakfast, only fair in quality and variety.
Location, pretty town and very quiet Hotel rooms a bit basic and not much in the way of home comforts, hotel restaurant food a bit of a let down and quite expensive.
Friendliness of staff and feeling of being at home and having a family room.
The room was darling, with several big French windows looking out over the heart of downtown. The decor was nice and airy and we were pleasantly surprised with a large tv in our room. We enjoyed the staff and their cute doggy. Because of the location, the road was noisy at times, but that was also part of it's charm. Bring earplugs!
Just renovated, nice room. Good location on river. Short walk, but expect a steep climb to an impressive castle. Charming hotel and very cordial staff. Must use public parking. Could be difficult if it gets crowded during high season.
The town was beautiful. The hotel is located in the center of town at a busy crossroad and was very loud with cars and trucks in the morning.
