Restutant food was excellent Shower had no screen, water wasn't hot enough for showers on arrival but was adequate in the morning. Breakfast for 8 euro (£7) could have had hot food.
Was basic but clean and comfortable with pleasant staff.Had a nice meal in the restaurant. It was not easy to find as it is not clearly visible from the road when you do not know exactly where to look.
I liked the location for travelling down to the south of France from Paris. I liked the small swimming pool. No
Easy to get to. Clean comfortable room with a bath. Friendly staff. Large secure car park. Lots of noise from the busy road.
the food in the restaurant was excellent and a nice tough was that they had an english version of the menu electric fans in the bedrooms would have been a help as it was very hot.
Easy access to the autoroute, Good value for money, dog friendly, pleasant helpful staff. Ideally suited for a transit stop.
staff friendly, food good. Handy location for overnight stop. Toilet could be refurbished
Evening meal No hairdryer, chair covers around swimming pool were dirty.
Friendly staff, easy to find, easy to park, decent food, reasonable room. Overall good value and a good experience. Bathroom in the room could do with being refurbished - it was a bit 'tired'. But that's a minor point.
handy for the motorway, and only five min drive from the town centre.
It's perfectly located for an overnight stay when driving from south of France to Calais. The refurbished rooms are a great improvement. We had dinner at the hotel which was fabulous and all the staff were friendly and very attentive. Would certainly recommend it for an overnight stay. It's a little difficult to find as it's not right in the centre and Chalon Sur Saone is disappointing.
Quiet, good location Nothing
In essence it is a very good hotel. It has everything you want. During our stay the internet was not working and the restaurant was closed. Of course this should not be a problem but when we confronted the reception, together with the incorrect prize of the room, they started to behave unfriendly and unprofessional.
The staff very friendly with our room ready prior to our late arrival. Very helpful The triple room (Family room) was made by adding a very little bed. The restaurant closes early with no chance to have room service.
The owners where very kind. The place is beautiful and they treat em really well.
Convenient Feel we need to upgrade to get a better room
Great location across from the train station and short walk to downtown and pedestrian shopping area. Short cab ride to board riverboat cruise. Wonderful staff service and room service too!
Superb location and spacious room. Very kind and helpful staff. Some noise from the train station, but not a nuisance.
location in proximity of the railway station
Staff was very friendly and hotel right across from train station Not particularly clean, window opened to alley with birds roosting and major noise from ventilator or some othr machinery....no screens...it was hot so we had to have the window open
The Hotel was clean and comfortable with a modern feel. The staff were very attentive.
very friendly staff, well sized rooms, clean. Even though no closed parking, but parking is monitored 24/7 by means of cameras, and guard walking over parking frequently.
The staff were friendly, professional and exceptionally helpful. The restaurant far exceeded the 3-star rating.
Convenient access close to highway, free parking, free internet what actually worked well, clean room enough size for single traveller. Pretty old bathroom equipment
Secured parking in front of the hotel Do not book privilege rooms, you get only 4 soft drinks and a different shampoo for the higher cost. All rooms are the same. The hotel is quite noisy from inside the hotel, close the light and look from your room to the corridor, yes you can, there is door gap or split that is big enough.
Really close to the A6. Fair value for money in a ver 'standard' place; but adequate for a one night transit stay, which was the purpose of the stop. 'Private' parking all but secured. Anyone can enter this outdoors parking lot.
The breakfast: lots of variety and always well filled. Friendly staff. Nice, comfortable and clean rooms and bathroom. Ideal for a short stay if you are travelling through France. n/a
The staff, the room, bar & restaurant wre excellent. On a five night stop over around France this was the best hotel we stayed in.
Close to the motorway, quiet rooms, plenty of parking space, discrete communication, correct informatuon on alternatives and traffic. Location not well indicated, rather out of the center of town, and no dinner offered on Sundays - which contradicts the tourist information brochure of Chalon. the pasta-alternative can hardly be serious.
Location to Autoroute was excellent and easy to find. Food was good and affordable.Breakfast was had a variety of choices.
The location was great and the room was spotless and large. Everything was as advertised. The dining room was not up to the standards of the hotel.
bed, eating, friendly people no
easy access from motorway booked hotel after seeing ibis advertising new rooms. was offered old rooms which were in a poor state of repair and smelt of smoke.
Very accessible, neat and tidy. Swimming pool always a plus
Excellent room with good facilities. The restaurant service and food were excellent and good value for money.
It's right by the motorway junction and easy to find. There was a large, free and well lit car park. The staff were helpful. The room was clean and had a very comfortable, large bed. The swimming pool was a pleasant bonus. Breakfast, although €7.50 p.p. was generous and had many excellent choices. This hotel isn't in the lowest budget range but represents great value. Nothing at all.
Very nice, large, clean room. Bathroom was very clean and everywhere was very spacious and tidy. We were impressed by the location and the style of the hotel. I cannot think of any bad points.
The fact that check in is open 24hrs is a huge advantage for travellers when they may be experiencing delays. The restaurant seemed to be expensive
Great service and friendly staff
Position and Free Parking! Value for the money. Too expensive for the category!
It was easy to find from the Highway. The room was well cleaned. The Kitchen was not prepaid for all the wisitors freyday evning. They were sold out of different thing at the menucard.
I'm spending 50% of my time in travel. This was my first stay at Campanile and probably my last one. I booked 2 rooms (we were 5) and when I arrived late (after calling the hotel to inform of late arrival) they had only one room. They finally found 2 rooms but very far from each other (which is not easy with children). The bathroom of one of the room had nod been cleaned, there were no sheets on the pillows of both room, in a room for 3 we had only 1 towel and finally when we had to pay the asked me to pay a higher price then what I had on my reservation ....in one word worst experience I had in hotel
A room presented as "triple" was really a double plus an extra bed... Consequence: a baby crib I asked for was not available. They didn't even know about it!
Ity was quiet, the staff were friendly and we enjoyed our overnight stay.
During the hot weather at the time of our visit, the air conditioning was a definite bonus.
Restaurant staff were good - professional and hard working We booked three rooms - two twins and a triple. We got two doubles and a double with a camp bed? This is basically not what we booked - not sure why this was therefore offered, but not a major problem in this case.
Comfortable and quiet cooling system.
Easy access from motorway. Internet access. Restaurant on site. Not a single electric socket in the room - had to plug computer in the bathroom sovket - and so could not charge the phone sat the same time
No fuss accommodation - good fod served at reasonable rate. No english TV
The interior designs were very nice and the owners were very hospitable. Also, there was a comfortable atmosphere, which made me feel at home.
It was nice and quiet and yet in a vibrant part of the town, close to the Historic centre. It suited our purpose as a stop-over hotel.
It was like staying over at the house of your parents; everything felt cosy and familiar right from the start. The staff was very nice and helpful and made you feel right at home. It is a very quit and relaxed place while still being about 10 minutes walking distance of the city center. When we arrived at about 16:00 there was no hotel staff around and the door was locked. We were let in the door by passing hotel guests who knew the entrance code on the door. After about 15 minutes waiting in the lobby a teen girl passed the lobby who turned out to be the daughter of the hotel owner. She was gracious enough to help us out but was at first totally lost at how to do that as everyone she called for help didn't answer the phone. After 10 minutes of frantic calling people she got her mother on the phone and got us into our room. About 15 minutes later the maid / receptionist / nice woman in charge was back and approached us with all kinds of apologies.
The suite was superb and the staff were excellent. The manageress even brought us up a tray to our room with an excellent bottle of wine and some nibblies after our long drive from London. We were running late the next morning and didn't have time for breakfast, so she made us up another tray with pastries and coffee - she was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We went to the Sphinx restaurant for dinner - they don't speak english, but it's not hard to figure out food on a French menu and we had a brilliant meal with a very tasty bottle of local wine. I didn't like being charged for parking and I thought breakfast was included, but turns out it wasn't - there was no mention of a breakfast charge when the manager showed us where it was served, so I just assumed it was included.
The owners were very helpful and even took us to our ship on Sunday morning. In fact, the husband drove to the new Hertz location to lead us to drop off our rental as they had moved and not informed us of their new location.
The hosts are very welcoming and helpful, and the hotel a very good value for the level of accommodation. Breakfast is the best buffet we encountered in France! Easy walk to the heart of city. Without a gps, it would have been hard to find--but no problem with our Garmin. Then again, that's true of many of the best lodgings across France!
reception staff - very efficient, very kind - value added.
Hotel staff excellent and very helpfull.
Great bathroom Very poor bed.
i recently stayed in another Best Western and really enjoyed the value for money. This was not the case in St.Regis as the room looked very old and tired.
It was very quiet for sleeping The bed was not very comfortable
their kindness and quality of service, cleaness of the room may be they can change their TV
It is an old-fashion hotel with nice atmosphere. The room was comfortably silent due to double doors and windows. Maybe slighly worn out, but just a little bit. It is on the borderline between being 'hotel with atmosphere' and 'hotel in need of refurbishment'.
hotel was nice clean and classy. We ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent. very subdued atmosphere. Close to the old part of town.Bed was comfortable. Except for one person the staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast very overpriced. There were no coffee or tea making facilities in room, which we are used to travelling in Canada and USA
The room was very clean and comfortable (many rooms have been re-furbished since we started using the hotel several years ago). The restaurant has always been of good quality in our experience. The staff at reception and in the restaurant have always been very pleasant although they are obviously not comfortable with speaking English. Between their English and my French, it was not a problem. Nothing at all. We are regular guests due to its loaction.
Room was very comfortable
Convenient place to stay near the motorway.Next door to a Campanille for dinner.
cheap, close to the motorway. The rooms all smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, one child and one adult both got bitten during the night by bed bugs or fleas,
easy to find, practical, value for money although I am a smoker, even I thought the room smelt too much, and my family felt even stronger about this. Next time I will book a non-smokers room.
Flexability and the opportunity to explore Chalon sur saone during the journey home from Spain. It provided the essentials after a long drive; clean sheets comfortable bed and shower Disturbance from adjoining room. People watching their tv until 3am. We had booked two rooms but were spread apart. Attention could have beeen given to placing families together and attention should be given to sound proving walls
very very small room, barely possible to move into the room, the bathroom is very small and uncomfortable little bit far from the centre. there was heavy smell of cigarets , although there is sign everywhere not to smoke !!!
Check-in possibilities 24/24 Really narrow room
Easy access from the motorway. Easy booking in procedure. Secure car park close to facilities.
Convenient to major highway
Friendly helpful staff., Difficult to park car and caravan even though advised by telephone that this would be fine.
It was a convenient stop for my travel itinerary
The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. In the bathroom it could do with some work on some of the fittings
Extremely convenient to the motorway as we were travelling to Switzerland. The room was too hot, and had no hair dryer
Very good location, straight off the motorway at Chalon Nord. Family room available. Very helpful staff (manager) who spoke very good English who was particularly accomodating to our friends who arrived late because of car trouble. Tea / coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice.
The staff kindly rescued and kept a very ragged dolly which my daughter left on the grass in front of the hotel the night we stayed. We called back on the drive home 2 weeks later, and they had looked after her, despite her appearances!
proximity to old town and river
We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Loved it and would stay again if I ever find myself in Chalon (my favourite town in France!).
Really old building and parts looked as if they needed some care, but it didn't matter. Thoroughly nice comfortable stay.
Helpful staff particularly regarding knowledge of Chalon
great staff, speak good english, good position will probably use again
The Receptionist was very helpful. Lovely rooms Good breakfast. Good position
Room was guite big and wide. We like that hotel was personal. Wi-Fi was working poorly into room. The room has no wall sockets.
Very close to town centre, no worries about driving.
hospitality of receptionist prefer pillows to bolster
comfortable beds, decent bath - hotel currently undergoing renovations, looks good so far. Check out the Elvis portrait in the new deco lobby. Very good and reasonably priced seafood and regional cuisine restaurant on the premises - popular with locals.
The room was clean and fresh, with windows you can open. The lady behind the desk was excellent and friendly - helping us even though we didn't speak French and she didn't speak English.
The location - very close to center rooms need some renewal
Quick and straightforward booking and accommodation Location on a busy road, noisy and smelly. Bed uncomfortable
Position of hotel from town Bar and food prices rather high
The shower was wonderful and the lobby particularly colorful. could not leave window open on first floor
Walking distance of town No facilities like, bar, restaurant.
Near the city centre and by the river. Easy access to and from the main routes. Good value for money but do not expect luxury of any kind. Comfortable, clean beds, small shower and toilet. Noise from both inside and from the constant traffic on main road by the river.
Very good value for money if you just want a bed for the night
Price No hair dryer
Nice friendly staff, free parking just in front of the hotel. Nice cat statues all over the hotel. Very small room, small shower. Electric-turbo-toilet. Plastic sheets under normal sheets on beds, they were a bit noisy.
Nothing it was terrible En suite dirty and small, whole building smelled of cheap air freshener. Would not recommend it!
the manager spoke good english terrible chemical smell in the room, "matress protector" on the bed, "sanilav" style toilet, cramped room, hard to find
Rooms were decorated nicely. Hotel was centrally located and perfect for a one night stopover. Excellent value for money. Walls were quite thin, could hear people coming up the stairs.
Clean, easy access walkable into town, easy parking next door.great basic hotel idea for stop off night on route to the south of france.
Staff was kind enough to open us during the lunchbreak, when the hotel is supposed to be closed. Clean sheets / towels. Excellent price. Thin walls, minimalistic showers, toilets in the hallways (but clean).
Does what it says on the tin , cheap ,cheerful , clean , brilliant location , excellent parking facility staff very friendly and helpful .
It is a small family hotel and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is also in a quiet street. The shower and the carpet is old.
It was central with parking nearby. The rooms were ok. The plumbing was not perfect
Really nice and helpful staff, cheap hotel, not far from the train station. Rooms are wide and comfortable, don't hesitate!
Excellent service from the staff/owner. Quiet surroundings. Beautiful village. Lots of French visitors when we went there in the weekend. Cheapest rooms do not have a toilet, but do have an (old) bathroom. No air conditioning.
Convenient location for visiting town; friendly staff; clean and comfortable.
The hotel and rooms were quite sufficient, clean and tidy. The hotelier, Pascal and his wife were very helpful and very friendly. They gave more assistance than was required of them. Excellent value in a very old and historical area of Chalon. This hotel should be full every night if travelers only knew about it.
