9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay. The house is very nicely set out and decorated in an interesting and thoughtful way. Each room is decorated by theme and ours was the Arabe room. There is a great garden, library, terrace and seating area and Rosa and Fernando are very nice and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with home made cake and jam using fruit from the garden. Perfect
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wow! Rosa and Fernando are incredible hosts at this unique property! After walking all day on the Camino, Fernando picked us up in his van and drove us to the property. We were too tired to go into town for dinner, so Rosa whipped up an incredible dish with fresh vegetables from her garden. In the morning, breakfast was lovely with homemade breads and jams. Fernando drove us back to the Camino route after breakfast. Our room was cozy and tidy. The rooms are each uniquely decorated. There is an artsy feel to the place. It was a memorable experience, but mostly because of the hospitality of the wonderful hosts.
Cons: The only issue for us was no door on the bathroom. Slightly awkward when sharing a room with a friend. We managed though!

Pros: This was one of our favorite accommodations of our month long trip. The owner/operators went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Each room is unique and fun. We had a great view over a stream to farm fields beyond. Great service, fun and comfortable rooms, good food. The location is a few km from Astorga, but that wasn't an issue at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fernando and Rosa are excellent hosts. Though a bit out of the way if you are walking Camino it is worth it. They want to make your stay enjoyable and it was. MUCHOS GRACIAS

Pros: A very nice and quiet location in a charming village near Astorga. Plenty of space, luxurious accommodation and an excellent breakfast. The car can be parked nearby.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peter the owner is a fellow biker so great to get tips on local trips and could keep my bike in his garage. While the Posada was great, the village is deserted with little in the way of places for evening meals available unfortunately so recommended for short stays only or when adding through. That said, Peter’s place was very welcoming and comfortable and would not hesitate to stay again when passing through next time. Thanks Peter for all your assistance and was great meeting you :)

Pros: A nice stop on the Camino. Good food, friendly service and a handy shop.
Cons: It is just a small thing but we were bothered by flies in the room. This place is surrounded by farm animals so this is to be expected. Fly screens on the room window and/or a can of fly spray would have made our stay perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is big, modern and comfortable. There is a mini store on the ground floor, very convenient to buy daily necessities and food. We have our dinner in hotel’s restaurant, it is good. The staff is helpful and friendly. Laundry service is available with a reasonable cost, good for camino walkers.
Cons: A lot of flies in our room and the restaurant, but it is not hotel’s fault. It is unavoidable unless you close all the windows.

Pros: The proprietor was so kind and accommodating. My wife Susie was really wiped out at the end of this day over the mountains near Cruz de Ferro and down into El Acebo. Jaime was so kind and told us to wait to actually check in until we had rested. We were able to wash our clothes in the sink and hang them on an outside line that was in a meadow with the most beautiful view EVER. Our room had that same view. The room was very comfortable and the bed, too. In the morning, we had the best breakfast of our entire trip in the downstairs reception area, prepared just for us. This place was perfect.

Pros: Location was great! The view from our room was inspiring! The room itself was extremely nice! The owners were so welcoming and wonderful. I stayed at La Trucha about 13 years ago and it stood out as the best place we stayed on the whole Camino. My repeat stay was just as nice. It was a calm, soothing place to stay that made you feel like you had come home for a day. The owners helped us hang up our laundry, and even gave us a great recommendation for dinner in the next town (which had Cava Sangria!) Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Pros: Cute apartment. Well thought out decor. House was renovated and nicely decorated. Prepared hot breakfast. Allowed us to have bikes delivered and stored at property.
Cons: We were put in the attic and caused us to have to climb three flights of stairs with luggage and every time we went out. Also, communicating was very difficult because manager did not speak any English. She attempted with phone translator but when we had problems or questions it was nearly impossible and frustrating. Us not able to speak Spanish of course did not help.

Pros: Clean spacious room. Simple. Balcony. Quiet town. Shared bathrooms but they were really nice, spacious, clean and had unlimited hot water... With great water pressure.!! I never had to wait for the bathroom and it was located right outside the door. Several bathrooms available.
Cons: The town is incredible small. Just a stop on the way but if you ship your bags.. It's a good option. We are a traveling group and it is often the same cost to get a private room as to pay for a dorm.

Pros: I loved our colorful, funky room with private bath! It was full of personality and warmth. The staff was so friendly and helpful to get our laundry done and to provide ice for my injured knee. The entire facility was just beautiful. The kitchen was big and a breakfast was offered - we left too early to keep hiking and didn't have breakfast. Rabanal is small, so there is not a bad location. We were told about the evening vespers at the nearby monastery as well as English afternoon tea at a municipal albergue. I would love to stay here again!

Pros: Laura is the most gracious and attentive host you could ask for. The food is amazing! Prepared by her and her mom from locally procured sources and homemade ingredients. The dishes are also local to the region. You have to try the fried milk for desert! The rustic structure and atmosphere top off a great experience all around. 2nd time and it won't be the last.
Cons: That I couldn't stay longer.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: 'Up there' as one of our favourite stays on our Camino Frances trip. A slight detour off the Camino, but well worth it to experience this traditional and authentic hotel in true Maragata style. Beautiful rooms with a rustic feel, and oh so comfortable and cosy. Superb hosting by the family; delicious home cooked food following traditional Maragata recipes. Santa Colomba de Somoza is a pretty village; in addition to the nearby Camino Frances; there are some good circular walks and trails to explore.

Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful historic building. Very comfortable room, really well equipped, opening onto a pretty courtyard. A cosy and warm atmosphere throughout the hotel, so peaceful and relaxing. We have stayed here three times now, twice while walking the Camino and it is a wonderful place to take a break from walking. Delicious dinner and breakfast! Laura is a fantastic host, so helpful and welcoming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I could not thank Laura and Pepa enough for this incredible place that they have created. Laura came to pick us up and drive us to the house during the Camino. She and Pepa are the most charming and gracious of hostesses. The house and rooms are gorgeous! They are beautifully restored and decorated with hand carved furniture and great attention to detail. Both dinner and breakfast was absolutely divine, with local ingredients, wonderful wine and such a great atmosphere. The next day, before we left Papa gave us apples and cookies to take with us and Laura dropped us off back on the Camino route with hugs. Absolutely loved Laura, Pepa and the house. A gorgeous oasis on the Camino.
Cons: Everything is perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful historic building in excellent condition. Room was spotless and people were fantastic. Pepa was our hostess for the night and I felt like I was in a four seasons resort. We had delicious dinner with local wine and ingredients. The bacalao de Pepa was fantastic. We were picked up and dropped of at rabanal so access to the hotel was not a problem. One of the best parts of the Camino was meeting Pepa.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Hostess was amazing! She gave us history of her place, was very friendly and went out of her way in customer service. She picked us up on the Camino and offered her employee to pick up my bags that were left in previous hotel. EXCEPTIONAL!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rustic, beautiful, and comfortable. Peps is an awesome hostess. And she can cook! Best meal of our entire trip to Spain. Picked us up and dropped us off on the Camino as well. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was such a unique place, a 14century property beautifully restored keeping the original features. Laura was a wonderful hostess and so helpful and understanding- as hubby was unwell at the time. The food was a joy to eat - all locally sourced and prepared in house by Laura and her mother. They enjoyed making the food and explained all the ingredients, where they came from and how it was prepared. I would have loved to enrolled on their cookery course but time was not on our side
Cons: There was nothing about the property or the service that was not ideal.
7.5 Good
Pros: The peacefulness. Even though the walls are stone and very thick (l imagine for that reason the wifi doesn't work) you could hear perfectly the snores coming from another room. Also, if you want to make good use of the morning, the breakfast is too late (9.30am), because by the time you get on the road you have lost a good part of the morning.
Cons: The wifi didn't work anywhere in the hotel.
5.3 Okay
Pros: Interesting rural hotel, small village.
Cons: ---------------------------------------------------------------

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible building (restored with high quality materials following the traditional structures of the typical houses in the region) and surrounded with stunning decoration (a must see, including their vintage shop). The property offers a rural and charming stay, it is family-driven and they all take part as staff. Very friendly and well-mannered. Breakfast can be served in a lovely indoor patio. The furniture of the rooms are restored pieces that would make the day of some vintage collectors and everything is taken care of to the maximum detail. Very comfortable bed and wonderful bathroom facilities (bathtub with bubbles and loads of light). Very original and vintage. Perfect to get away from cities / stress. Magnificent restaurant. We loved it and we will be back for sure. The son of the owner is a very good painter/artist/antiquities expert and some of its works can be seen and bought in the house/hotel and at their vintage shop. Not to miss out!!!
Cons: As the property keeps its rural traditional style, the wooden floors are a bit noisy at night. But it is a place whereby one should make the most of its quietness and go to bed early so attention must be paid in order not to wake up hosts in the rooms below or next door.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful accommodation in a pretty village, restaurant was outstanding.
Cons: Way out of town,
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Charming staff who were eager to help. Very clean, comfortable and beautifully maintained. The restaurant food was delicious.

Pros: There is nothing bad to say about to say about Hotel Rural. Our host was so helpful. I lost my trekking poles and she made several phone calls trying to find them. She did our laundry and even ironed my husband's handkerchiefs. The breakfast was delicious with homemade preserves!

Cons: Nothing comes to mind
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner of this B&B is absolutely lovely! She did everything she could to make us feel welcome, gave us advice on where to eat, and cooked us a lovely breakfast for 6:30 am! The room was clean, classic and comfortable, with a nice balcony (it would have been nice to have chairs to sit on the balcony, but that’s just a wee suggestion - it didn’t impact our enjoyment at all).
Cons: There was nothing to not like. Everything was great. The house is located by a busy road but it was quiet at night. We could hear people on the main floor and in the room next to us, but all was quiet by 10:00.

Pros: The hotel is situated perfectly, close by the main plaza. The room was small but sufficient for a short stay. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly. Parking was provided right in front of the hotel.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: This little rural inn has spectacular location in a dreamy riverside village on a short diversion from the wonderful Camino de Santiago as an easy day's walk from Astorga. The toads in the mill pond and river croak loudly! The village has lovely stone buildings. The inn is the main spot for villagers to gather, but visitors are welcomed. The hotel has lovely modern rooms with crafts and furniture collected locally. The bar is small but there's a dining room and a lovely big terrace on the street overlooking the ancient riverbridge. The proprietors are welcoming and practical in every way. They were cleaning up the bar for closing when we arrived at midnight. It is a quiet bar and the room we had was peaceful. The bathroom was great and big enough for 4stars. From here you can walk on to Rabanal and up to the summit at Cruz de Hierro in a comfortable day's hike. Or drive or cycle the lovely twisty road over the spectacular Camino route accompanied by lots of pilgrims.
Cons: Everything was fine for a country hotel offering simple rooms and comfortable beds and good continental breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was good value for money, shower was great. We were able to park our motorcycle in the garage. Breakfast was very basic but was included in the price.
Cons: No air conditioning, and the room was very hot. It said that they spoke English but not sure anybody did. The food in the restaurant was overpriced and there is no sides or vegetables included. It cost us twice as much for our meal as it did for the accommodation, making it an expensive stop. I would recommend it as an overnight stop, but would suggest finding elsewhere to eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely nice and helpful, beds very comfortable, a very good choice to spend the night while on the Camino.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked that Ricardo came to pick me up when I accidentally had my mochila sent to the wrong location. The next day he took me to my location in the next town. Maria cheerfully did my laundry for me. The dinner was good but more expensive than i expected. This alternate route on the camino should be better advertised. Beuatiful spot
Cons: The price of dinner should have been lower.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fantastic!!!!
Cons: The ONLY thing was it was off the Camino. But they picked me up & brought me back so made it great!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent room too many hotels treat the single traveller poorly this hotel didnt, thank you.Needed to catch a train so didnt make breakfast.
Cons: nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for both Camino and site seeing. I booked only 6 of a party of 8 in this hotel as unfortunately it was otherwise full. Moral here is to book this hotel well ahead. Good breakfast and extremely helpful staff in reservations and at reception. Slightly sour note caused by charging residents for use of the swimming pool. One can understand perhaps Spa charges but for just swimming seems a bit avaricious bearing in mind the room charges. This charge was unexpected.
Cons: Being charged to swim

Pros: La Candela will forever live in my memories. This place is exceptional and the owner, Juan, is one of the highest caring people on the Camino. I would love to give more of an explanation but let’s just say that he cares more about people than money. The place is outstandingly clean, peaceful, original, and it was also one of the most tranquil sleeps I’ve had. The locals also love coming here

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel was on the main road (not busy) opposite a chemist, which was useful, & my room had a small balcony which was great for hanging out my washing. The room was comfortable and I slept well always a bonus.
Cons: The place lacked atmosphere, and the whole town seemed to have one menu for food & not many places serving it, probably because it was a Sunday. At least they did serve food, and it was edible :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is the first place you come to in town. The kitchen is open all day. I just loved the Arroz con Verduras, such a pleasant change. The staff could not be more helpful.
