Large room, Good value for money. Just what we needed for an overnight stop before catching an early morning ferry. Bathroom needed revamping.
Happy hour was very good and so was the food= the creation of the xmas atmosphere was excellent
restuarant and restaurant staff were ok, close to channel tunnel there was suppose to be a bottle of wine in the room as special offer, I was told it would be there by reception staff but it wasnt, rang reception but they didnt seem interested and never got the wine, also reception very slow with long waits in which time I saw and heard a lot disatisfied customers, poor reception staff and porters seems to the main problem
Run down hotel, poorly maintined Nothing, I will never return!
cheep and breakfast was good
Cheap & convenient for the ferry to France following morning.. We were 'upgraded' to a premier room as the first 3 rooms we were sent to already had people in them! Needs updating & a good clean.
Excellent value. Food and accomodation excellent for the rate paid. Very little room in the car park for the amount of guest staying at the hotel.
The hotel is a little out of date, in need of a refurb..
Value for Money and the food was excellant Outside noise at 3.30am caused by yobba's shouting and swearing
very run down, very poor quality food. Shabby rooms and decoration
sea view from balcony, Decent hot water from shower. Nostalgic visit as last time was 32 years ago old fashioned decor/ceilings, was run like a very touristic hotel in spain, without the weather or spanish waiters. Bar area was big but resembled a bingo hall, no atmosphere, felt cold.
Our room was very clean and the downstairs bar had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom, although well appointed, the workmanship of the fitters was poor which gave it a rather shabby appearance, The spacious bedroom had minimal heating and the wind through the closed sash windows blew the curtains. I would not want to stay there in cold weather.
conveniently situated for attending leas cliff room / hotel in general could do with updating / redecorating
Nice but very old hotel in need of restauration. The bathroom
Convenient situation for local amenities Would have liked a hairdryer in room
The friendly staff and "old world" victorian setting. N?A
Only stayed overnight on route to France. But found it ideal for a one night stop.
Nothing particularly Very tired and jaded - though we got a large room there were many niggly unsatisfactory items - broken shower curtain - unstuck wallpaper - windows that were nailed shut - really the list is endless
The proprietor was kind and helpful. The room was very quiet. The hotel is a bit run down. The coffee was awful.
Did'nt stay in it long enough to really enjoy anything. We were out and about exploring Folkestone Breakfast
the efficiency of the staff, and the location Unfortunately the shower head was cracked and there were no shower gels supplied... ( bad planning on my part ) AND those damn SEAGULLS.... ear plugs next time....
Hospitality from Chris and Sarah Free drinks, DVDs, wireless, etc. Breakfast was very good Parking was a bit tricky but the hotel has 2 private parking places down the road.
Nicely decorated and furnished. Friendly staff. Very clean. The cooked breakfast was lukewarm and we didn't feel that the bacon had been cooked enough.
The room was beautifully decorated, excellent facilities throughout the hotel including a coffee machine downstairs where you could help yourself anytime.
The location was perfect for the 40th wedding anniversary party we attended at the Leas Cliff Hall and also to access the beach the following morning for a lovely stroll towards Sandgate and back through the nature park/trail. We will bring our bikes next time as perfect for leisure cycle. Complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and cakes very nice touch and delicious tasting too! The breakfast was also very good. We stayed in the Cliff top room and had a fabulous view of the white cliffs of Dover, just as it said we would on the website. No bad points to report as our experience was very good.
Very good friendly excellent service really could not fault it. Could do with a lift and parking was a problem
Excellent stay! The Relish was wonderful and we will definately be returning next year. Rooms were beautiful, very clean and stylish. Cake and coffee was great too. Only down side was the pillows were too soft!.
The helpfulness and warm welcome, lush comfortable room with fantastic shower.
Very friendly staff. None
The staff were so friendly and the hotel was spotless. It was like having all the comforts of home with a very high standard of elegance, style and class. I love the idea of the kitchen with fresh drinks and homemade cake that we could use as often as we like and the breakfast was also fantastic. I would definately recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.
Friendliness of the staff. Clean facilities. Slightly shabby exterior. Could do with a clean-up
Hotel rooms were in excellent condition Breakfast was poor
The room was clean and larger than booked. I was given a family room for same price as single which was great. The staff were friendly and answered questions I had about the area. Decor was a bit dated though mostly in good repair.
The lounge facilities.
It was quiet with no curfew getting in and out,the food was freshly cooked and served seemingly all by one charming young woman. I saw no other staff. My room was clean, but damp marks and peeling plaster in one corner. No bedside light, the exceptionally high ceiling and light made it difficult for me to read after dark.
Large, comfortable room and location close to Channel Tunnel The shower didn't work very well (problem with cold water supply?)
Very friendly staff, nice hotel in good location generally well presented. The heating in the room did not work - had to ask for an electric fire - when taking a shower the water was tepid at best.
Great location and very comfortable
Hotel design, friendly staff.
Relaxed and friendly
The owner was very helpful and accomodating organising our breakfast the night before as we had to leave the hotel at 6am the next morning for the channel tunnel crossing.
Clean and comfortable, very friendly hostess. The toast had mould on the crust-very unexpected. The car had to be parked on the road and this is not indicated in the details of the hotel. Very tight parking on a busy road.
Owner was extremely welcoming and courteous - nothing was too much trouble. The room was quite small but this was fairly reflected in the price and as such was good value for money. It was clean and had all the facilties.
we had a wedding to go to and the lady who run the BB lets us in early so we could get change after a long joruney, she was very kind , would go back.
the room and hotel was very clean. The ensuite was very small and my partner had problems using it as he is 6ft 6" tall, I also had problems and I am only 5ft 6". The lack of parking we didnt know until we go there that we could have reserved a space. I also didnt like the £1 charge for paying by debit card.
Very clean, fresh, well presented. Spotless !. breakfast very good - First class overall ! Top floor room with cases -a little difficult but not a critisisum
Had to leave early morning and they gave us breakfast in a cooler box - very nice idea. Needed to rush out and with the confusion I forgot my ring - owner went out of his way and posted it - much appreciated !
Pleasant management The en-suite was a bit small and cupboard like. Ok for 1 night but would not recommend for a long stay.
Spotlessly clean room and en suite shower room.
Easy to find, Proprietor very helpful
It was for only one night The lift kept breaking down and I was on the fourth floor
flexibility. They accommodated my need for an early breakfast on departure day Clean, tidy, easy reach of rest of Folkestone. everything was absolutely fine and good value for money
very good breakfast......quick check in and out.....good position on sea front clifftop no shower or similar attachment in bathroom....no remote for tv.....noisy seagulls but could not close the window...had to park car about 400 yards away.....small rooftop room but probably due to availability and late booking
Leaving Total lack of cleanliness. The shower hadn´t been cleaned in months.
Convenient to central Folkestone Rooms shabby and in poor decorative condition. Wash and shower facilities archaic. No car parking available. Screaming seagulls all night!
The location of the hotel is excellent for the event at the Leas Cliffe Hall which we were attending. Breakfast was good, and the hotel staff very courteous and kind. The shower and bathroom facilities were a bit modest, and there was no provision to be near a mirror if one wanted to use a hair dryer.
Clean helpfull staff good sea view very quite hotel Curtains and bed spread a little old flush toilet not quite good windows not very clean
location and accessability to town yes the washing facilities were in the bedroom
breakfast the bed was very uncomfortable, shower was shabby and took 10 min for hot water to come through. TV was was very poor. Poor curtains and nets.
Very friendly and clean. Brilliant full English breakfast. Comfortable room, even for 2 adults and 1 child. No.
friendly host, convenient location but only one night stay to form opinion
Friendly welcome and good value. Near to Channel Tunnel. Location near restaurants. Parking a bit of a gamble but OK off-season.. The sausages and the coffee! But for £3 breakfast it was excellent value. No complaints.
very clean and comforable, freindly and helpful staff, very close to town centre and railway station
Peaceful and adequate for an overnight on way to continent.
Clean. Quiet. Efficient. Good choice of breakfast. Parking adequate but not totally convenient
Very helpful staff, tasty breakfast
Although I arrived late and left early I was treated well. Would recommend for a budget break.
I found the location ideal for my visit and the hotel and room were extremely clean and the staff very helpful. The ability to have an early breakfast, 7am, enabled me to reach the cruise terminal easily by 8am. i would use the hotel again.
friendly staff, good breakfast, free wifi Top floor room with an electric heater which took a while to make the room comfortable, cold bathroom, no chair in room. Musty smell in hallways (no smell in room, though)
Hosts made us very welcome including the dog. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Shower difficult to regulate. Needed andother chair in the room.
Room was very clean, Bed very comfortable and shower works well. Heating not on in room when we arrived - room was quite cold and took a while to warm up.
We only stayed for one night - but the staff were very helpful and friendly Only thing I would say is that our bed was not very comfortable - as we rolled into the bed, so we didn't have a great night's sleep.
Friendly service. Excellent breakfast. Offroad parking, good location No ensuite facility
The hotel was comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful....
Friendly efficient staff, freshly cooked food. Wi Fi did not reach the upper floors, no lift
Clean and Friendly
Handy for purpose of visit
The hotel is a old style , but very friendly ( for people and pets), very clean and you can find everything what you need for staing over night or a few nights. Very good price.
very close to the concert venue we were attending, Lea Cliff hall could do with a splash of paint
Personal attention. Also the breakfast was OK.
Nothing Smell in room, carpet in toilet was stained and had living things on it lift it and tiles the floor will make a better night stay.
Staff were very friendly. Rooms were old and tired.
Convenient location for Channel Tunnel A bit grubby and lacking in some facilities
Staff member stayed open to allow me to register despite arriving very late. This Hotel is in very poor decorative order with poor ventilation and the TV did not even work.
that it was cheap and near the beach! It was cheap and cheerful and in need of a re-vamp, the shower was a plastic tube connected to the taps with no shower curtain! bit of a disaster. But the linen was clean and it served the purpose of a cheap place to stay for the night.
Comfort and service
A fascinating buliding in an interesting part of town
Although it was only for one night it was very relaxing and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The whole character and ambience made it a really lovely place to be. Food was first class and the service across the hotel was just great. Bathroom was rather tired and didnt really represent a hotel of thsi standing or indeed cost.
I've stayed at the Mermaid Inn many times including my wedding anniversary, its my favourite hotel in this country. Love it. Love sitting by the giants fireplace. The Mermaid is hundreds of years old, creaky floorboards and meant to be haunted, so if you don't like history don't stay. If you want a fantastic place to stay, in a beautiful town with countryside all around stay here. Camber sands beach is approx 4 miles away. No nothing
Wonderfully quaint hotel right in the centre of Rye. Restaurant excellent, and car parking a big plus. Definitely not a formulaic chain hotel.
The staff were excellent and courteous. Breakfast superb. Room comfortable. Noisy guests interrupted sleep. Panelling between Walls didn't covert noise. Was misadvised about room having secret panels. Bath was clean but taps had parts missing hot water labelled cold.
The location is fantastic and the Inn is interesting. It seems that there is a vartiation in the standard of the rooms although they are all the same price. The room I was given was in the newer part (Georgian) part of the hotel, in the attic. There was no four poster bed. I asked about this and was told that this room was the same price as the rest as it was a 'superior' room. Not good value for the money I paid.
The character of the hotel
The hotel is beautiful, and Rye a delightful place to visit. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely stay. Ideally we would have liked a bigger bathroom with a bath, but that's often the way in very old hotels.
Excellent friendly staff & service, especially the young lady on the bar down stairs on the night of the 16th sept an asset to the hotel. None
The room was a great size We called to confirm our reservation and the morning staff changed it to next day arrival. So on arrival it took an extra 15 min to get us sorted out. This was after a 3 hour drive and 8pm at night. Then after they sorted out a room demanded payment before we got the keys.
Easy access good location choice of restaurant bar meals and as a motorcyle traveller in room hairdryer was good. Limited parking
Our room was really lovely. And all the staff were so helpful with our baby, going out of their way to make her happy! Our room was opposite one of the function suites, and on our first night there was a function on. It was very loud and carried on til quite late, and the noise kept waking the baby up.
Comfortable stay, rooms clean and tidy Restaurant food not the best, steak tough. Very dark in restaurant.
The hotel is good value if you can get a deal, like we did. The staff were helpful and the room although compact, was nice and clean.
Limited facilities and felt a little bit unclean
Very good service & accommodation. Clean & reassuring. None
I particularly liked the 'traditional' feel of the Hotel which was welcoming, very well maintained and extremely spacious. It has a certain 'charm' that one doesn't feel very often - and I stay in various Hotels on a weekly basis.
Convenient location Restaurant food quality poor
Very nice stay, friendly welcome, excellent breakfast
room is good, the hotel may be better after finiching work, to find hotel very bad,
Our room was furnished to a very high standard and was very clean It did not mention that currently they are doing the hotel up, therefore the only facilities that are up to standard is the bedrooms.
The view from our room was over the garden and downs, we had the continental breakfast at £4 it was excellent vaue
Very comfortable room, the public area has yet to be renovated but it was ok. Handy for the eurostar also a short walk from restaurant for evening meal.
Nice place, with excellent staff.
feeling welcome despite very late arrival after ferry crossing, free upgrade to family suite, well heated room, very friendly breakfast service a shame breakfast is not included in the room rates
The rooms where immaculate and very well equiped with everything you could desire. The staff where extremly helpful and nothing was to much trouble. I really enjoyed staying at downsview, if you wish to stay at a hotel with the comfort of home, downsview is a sure choice.
Very clean rooms! Excellent self-service breakfast with different cerials, fresh fruits and toast!
Fabulous beds! Full English breakfast is not worth the money.
close to euro tunnel
It was a tranquil and comfortable stay, with a very nice host and a perfect room :-) -
Very comfortable room, marvellous breakfast, highly recommended.
Comfort, quietness, hospitality, lovely home and room The shower had low pressure
Great location, the area surrounding the house is beautiful! Henrica, the owner, is very kind and she makes a very good breakfast. Clean and comfortable...rate 10!
The friendliness and home from home atmosphere of the landlady. The cleanliness and views were excellent as was the breakfast.
The garden, the friendly owner and the beautiful countryside and walks. The heating was turned off during a cold snap.
The room wih the beautiful view overlooking the sea & beyond the coastal part of France! The landlady was very friendly & made us feel like home! An ideal country side hotel to stay & relax!
A warm welcome from guesthouse owner Mrs McDuff. Accommodation is comfortable and homely. Good breakfast. Guesthouse is ideally situated less than a ten minutes drive from the Eurotunnel terminal. Makes for a perfect stop over to break up a journey to the continent.
The views and warm welcome
The hotel building is of great historic character in a great location within a beautiful historic town (Rye - 13th century) Being a very old building, the bedroom floor was very creaky, and it was a long way to a fire escape.
Very friendly service by the young man in charge (tue 7 july). Excellent food nicely presented and reasonably priced. A fine breakfast. The fee of £80 for one night in a simple room is high. In a similar hotel in Pisa ( Italie) two weeks ago room and breakfast was £55 (equivalent) . At that you can not expect many Continentals to stay overnight in Rye if they can avoid it. The mention on your website putting pressure on the customer by telling him " only one more room available" is unwelcome.
This hotel is wonderful. It has charm, character and atmosphere. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. Our room was delightful - clean and well kept. We could not have made a better choice. We shall return!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the room was clean and airy. There was quite a lot of noise later on with people either returning to the hotel or going past.
Breakfssts were excellent as was the service We booked a small double room, but not having a wardrobe for 3 nights was rather inconvenient.
Excellent food. Great place - the rooms were carefully restored. Very clean. Good breakfasts. A functioning shower should be a given at these prices. Too many dogs!
The welcome, the breakfast and the staff were all better than one normally finds. Excellent breakfast with real coffee and tea! Somewhat noisy location in the morning due to proximity to road.
the rooms are very comfortable, and lovely decorated! I also enjoy the breakfasts and the meals (the leek - parmesan crumble is delicious)
Poor value for money, very expensive at £90.00 for small double room with tiny en suite shower.
Very comfortable, excellent location. Lovely breakfast.
The price was very reasonable. Good location 10 mins from train station. Handy for ferry. The paint was peeling from one wall and bed linen could do with renewing.
nice people and very good thai restaurant.breakfast was also excellent
The staff were very nice. although attached to a bar during the world cup very little noise was heard in the rooms. The first room we were given had no drawer or wardrobe space and we were for a week. Changed rooms to a much bigger room but it did not appear to be cleaned and the bed cover had a large stain on it. We were there with a friend and he was put on the third floor and we were put on the second floor when we were the only guests and the ground and first floor rooms were empty. We are pensioners and had 42 stairs to climb to get to our room. Also no mirror near the hair dryer.
The cleanliness All the stairs
did not like much about this hotel apart from the size of the room and the location. the room smelt musty and was uncomfortably warm I opened the window but the the gulls and the pidgeons keep me awake all night. The ensuit was old fashioned and need updating. The loo seat was delaminating and needed replacing. Breafast did not sound very inviting so did not even stay for it.
We arrived via the Eurotunnel, and it's fairly close to the tunnel port and very close to the sea. Excellent location! The staff was very friendly, and the room was clean as it should be. Checking in via the bar of the club is sub-optimal ;-)
Close to town center. Very good view over the Channel. Nice size of room. Easy to find. The breakfast was not very exciting - not what we expect from a continental breakfast. It was very simple, but what we got was ok. Parking was a bit difficult and worst case you need to park in a "park and display" area.
Location. It was close to restaurants and the channel tunnel was only 10 mins away
staff were extremely helpful
New hotel with modern facilities, good breakfast Breakfast only starts at eight, due to the use of Beefeater facilities outside the hotels. Nevertheless the breakfast is excellent.
Modern, big enough, kindliness of the staff, quiet White glaze of the lights felt like in an hospital and we could hear the step of the upstairs neighbours
On site resturant, carparking, room size Air conditioning didn't work, Television didn't work, Rate was hire at check in had to provide evidence of our rate and get refund
Very close to the eurostar ashford. Wanted to charge more than had booked it for, luckily I took proof of how much it was. However the staff were very nice on the desk and sorted it out in end, but this should not happen
Clean and tidy with very good staff far superior to travelodge were will not stay again ever!
Value of money Incorrect address list on confirmation print out. It said 'Eureka Business Park', but the correct address should be under 'Eureka Leisure Park'. Sign of Premier Inn is big on buliding, but all cover up by trees around, hardly to see, was missed it on the first drive through.
Excellent location for our purpose, which was an overnight stay on return from Eurotunnel. Not a luxury hotel but povided all that was needed for the overnight stay.
the staff were really friendly in the hotel and also in the beefeater restaurant next door. The hotel is really quiet even that it was next door to a very busy road. i found the aircon was rather loud in the room but you can turn it of which was not an option for us as you can´t open the windows on the bottom floor for obvious safety reasons.
Good value for money and convenient location Room wasn't serviced one day during our stay
Very good position, rooms very comfortable and the staff friendly.. The bar prices were very good for a hotel!
No car park. Very difficult to find anywhere to park close to Hotel. Will not use again because of this. It is a pity as hotel is good, service and food good.
View of the sea! Lack of parking.
The hotel is quaint, off the international tourist track but still well located. The mattress was very soft; a bit too soft for any person with back issues.
very near to Leas Cliff Halls which was the purpose of our stay, nice staff and the best breakfast we have had in folkestone! very dated, however this seems to sum up the majority of hotels in Folkestone and a very uncomfortable bed. Asked what time the bar shut and was advised to go over to the Portland!
The View from our room was excellent. It was clean. It did not provide breakfast as part of the cost. The decor was dated and uncoordinated in the rooms. Although the rooms were clean there were signs of wear and tear. There was no night bar and everything appeared to be extra to the price. We did not feel as if we had got a good deal. Although the staff were pleasant
Everything about this hotel was excellent. We wanted a relaxing stay doing a bit of touring. Used the bus services -excellent. Just what we wanted.
As we only stayed for one night it would be difficult, but overall I found the staff friendly and efficient and had a hassle free stay. Just two things, we found the rooms to be too hot and it was a shame that we could only order drinks from the mini bar instead of the main bar after midnight.
Enjoyable weekend stay with minimum of fuss. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Location ideal. Will come again !
Very efficient staff,clean and comfortable
Very Clean , staff very good , polite , relaxing , spa facility very well looked after. Bright and just the place for a short break .
Could have cooked breakfast in our room. Good checking in and out times. Chose not to eat in hotel as restaurant not to our taste.
The closeness of the hotel to the town's facilities, i.e. shops, pubs and restaurants. The hotel did not provided evening meals.
It was nice to stay in a small English hotel that had good service and paid attention to the comfort of their guests
Friendly, helpful staff, very pleasent room. Excellent breakfast, also enjoyed the pool etc. No
Very clean and with freindly and extremely helpful staff. Younger guests may find the decor a little kitsch.
The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the town centre The hotel is quite dated and the room was very small with a small ensuite. The windows didn't open either and the TV controls didn't work. All in all, very much over priced.
Convenient Hot night and room was very warm and a bit cramped
Great location in the heart of the town, walking distance to all the shops / restaurants and pubs.
The best service possible, nothing was too much trouble Bathroom en suite a little on the small side
