Good price No reception and any responsible person in the hotel, there is a yellow machine in front of the building and you should pay the cost by credit card, I tried to use it but I had a problem, I couldn't have a chance to pay it in cash.
It was a convenient stop-over during a journey down through France. Have stayed in these places before so knew what to expect. The motorway runs a few yards from hotel and is elevated so extremely noisy. Breakfast is eat as much as you like but choice is minimal. OK if you like loads of bread and jam! Could get nicer hotel for same rate.
You are a budget hotel so we got what we paid for! The bed was rather uncomfortable, the hotel is situated close to a busy road so the traffic noise was intrusive, and the drinks vending machine wasn't working. These were irritants rather than complaints.
efficient and good breakfast
The staff were very accomodating, good value for money.
Friendly atmosphere, somewhat 'cheap and cheerful' but, hey, it was cheap and cheerful! Had a two bedded room with 5 beds for a single traveller for no apparent reason ! Couldn't access Wifi as room was too remote.
Breakfast ok. Service ok. Enough parking. WiFi-Internet access. Room size ok. 1. Very cold in the room (10°c inside) in winter (-4° outside) even though the radiator was on maximum hot continuously. 2. the bathroom: The bathroom and the vestibule are the same unit. There's no door between them. The hook for shower head is kaput totally. There's no any hooks for clothes in bathoom. Only two towels. Normal is 3 per person.
Friendly polite staff, basic budget accommodation for overnight stay or short break. Clean rooms. We booked 1 double and 2 twin rooms all to a good standard Slightly noisy location we faced main road with traffic location on busy throughfair
Its realy just a Hotel if you need an over night stop. We couldn't find anything near puy du fou. No.
Breakfast was good Hotel is a Routiers Truck Stop. Nothing wrong with that except it was not clear when booking
Simple but clean hotel, in the town is not much going on. Not much going on in the town
Very helpful and informative staff, clean rooms and very centrally located for restaraunts and shopping.
The personnel were very helpful and welcoming The hotel did not have it own private parking, only street payant parking.
Comfortable and clean Inadequate tv no English channels and many scrambled stations. Poor parking facilities ie on road
Good swimming pool and childrens play area. Rooms a bit run down and in need of modernising.
Quiet, clean Bland, no flair
The swimming pool was great. The kids loved it.
Not much. Room smelt, was very cold, bathroom was revolting with very poor lighting and not that clean either. Towels were threadbare.
Hassle-free, relatively quite area. Cleaning ladies were friendly and understanding...family room for four including two teenage boy's means late rising and slow getting out of their way to clean. The room was quite cramped so probably more suitable for families with young children. Perhaps this is an area Hotels could provide more detail about.
rooms poor, very small and basic.
the hotel was centrally positioned and the staff were superb perfectly satisfied on all counts.
excellent locatin close to harbour area. friendly staff and when we had a problem with the sheets being dirty on our bed, the staff arranged clean bed linen straight away no complaints
The staff were very helpful and accommodating The room had quite an odour of stale urine and dried urine was on the toilet floor. Also the music played during breakfast was far too loud and inappropriate, although the staff, when asked if it could be turned off, did reduce the volume.
It was located in the town within walking distance of the waterfront, shops and restaurants The hotel was simply awful. Room was grubby and over the road so was very noisy. we booked for two nights but left after one.
the staff and the hotel were 5 stars excellent no faults at all
If you're a fan of original hotel features in an Edwardian hotel, this is the place for you. The floors, the bathroom tiles, the furniture are all lovely - but the hotel is not faded at all (except for the outside, which faces the sea so gets winter storms every year) - it's charming and the staff provide the warmest welcome you'll find. The hotel has been in the same family since being built, and it shows - lovely touches of detail everywhere. The double bed was large and comfortable, and crisply made up every day, our room (with a balcony) was spacious and spotless, and the location great for the beach, cycle hire, the roads out to nearby St Gille or St Hilaire - we'd go back just to stay in this hotel, frankly. We didn't eat in the hotel - the menu was mainly typically seaside, and we're vegetarians. This isn't a complaint; it's a typically French menu!
The setting of the Hotel was great for exploring the beach and surrounding areas. Parking was great and the staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. When we arrived in France this was our 1st stop for 2 nights and we were very taken back with how at home and relaxed we we felt. The room we had was perfect very spacious and clean and very comfortable. We would definately book again the experience of staying at this hotel was one we wont forget, we had 2 great few days in the area and wanted to stay an extra few nights.
The staff were very helpful and attentive The room needed decorating and sadly we had a young family above us and the noise of children's feet and balls being rolled and bounced became wearing (I realise this is just bad luck on the day, not the hotel's doing!)
Charming and very helpful host, great location opposite the station, scottish theme throughout refreshingly old fashioned, nice clean room. Unfortunately, we were booked on a public holiday and the restaurant was closed but the bar is stocked with a huge collection of malt whiskies. Restaurant recommended by host was excellent.
Close to the station and city centre Neither WiFi nor willing to find a solution; quaint; rather broken-down
The Hotel was extremely friendly. We give ***** for a ** Hotel. Sincere thanks There was nothing that I did not like about the Hotel, however, parking was a bit 'Hit and Miss'. We were very lucky to find a space right outside Marie Stuart but with a car loaded to the brim with goods we would have been happier to have paid for some secure parking nearby!
the owners and staff. dressing table mirror would be useful
Very spacious twin room with 2 double size beds. Very clean No shower curtain so unable to use the shower.
Nothing! Rooms very tatty - holes in carpet, wc would not stop flushing so had to turn of water supply Very noisy as directly above restuarant so couldn't get to sleep much before midnight Bed very old and exceptionally uncomfortable Piped Scottish music continuously playing which eventually got on your nerves!
very centrally located. Very vriendly Proprietor a little noisy (traffic) to the front.
The Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel accepts dogs which is one reason it suited my needs and its a pleasant walk from town. Only that the decor bedspreads and curtains are getting just a little dated now and would benefit from a change but very clean and smelt nice.
Staff were very helpfull and pleasent.Sheets and towels were clean Did not like anything very much decor was dark and depressing Very much in need of updating.
Reasonable price and included breakfast. Difficult to find by signposts from centre of town. Very noisy from about 5am especially on a hot night with all the windows open.
Easy to locate, friendly reception. Could not have a glass of wine or a beer without availing of restaurant.
sorry, my french!! non!
Clean, tidy hotel well located with pleasant, helpful staff
It was more than we expected!
Location. Very Quiet. Big rooms tastefully furnished. Safe parking. Trusting Staff. Warning: a car is needed as you are in the middle of no where.
Beautiful grounds, quiet, good location for our requirements. Elegant dining room and bedroom No help offered with cases even though to get to our bedroom we had four flights of stairs. (the chatuea had no lift) No tea or coffee making facilities in room. The information via email was misleading regarding the number of evenings the chateau restaurant was open.
Charming old chateau in 17 ha of parkland including swimming pool and tennis courts. Well appointed dining room provides a good range of menus.
Fantastic building, need some investment to get back to its origin, Rooms very basic and service non existing, No lift, stiff stairs, Food at the restaurant fantastic, deserves to be a Michelin Restaurant but again waiters and staff are not at that level.
The owner was there to welcome us and give us a full history of the Chateau which was very nice. The grounds were excellent and was a 'Bill Oddie' paradise. Cuisine was to a very high standard. Rooms were a little small for the price charged.
Beautiful building and grounds, excellent restaurant. Too expensive
nice surroundings bad wifi connection
Tranquil venue, interesting buildings and a chance to relax. Excellent Gourmet dinners Could have supplied a more varied breakfast, with cereals. Also a hotel wanting to attract international visitors should have at least one TV channel in English. This is typical of France, whilst other countries have satellite TV with channels in English, Spanish, Italian, German, etc.; does not cost much but has high added value.
The food was formidable! The bed caused me severe backache
Happy staff, pool area, quiet but central location and map. None to speak of.
peace and quite
the room was lovely very clean owners were very friendly and helpful the town and people were very appproachable lots going on during the day places to eat etc but pm very guiet lovely place to rest ,relax.
Very good standard accomodation, and excellent hosts Bed a little hard
Attractiveness of our room, the gardens and the indoor lounge. Breakfasts were good value compared to other hotels used.
It was one of the most beautiful hotels that we have ever stayed at. The dinner was excellent as were the surroundings. Nothing.
Fabulous location, gourmet food complete guest comfort a very enjoyable stay.
Loved the modern decor in the old building. Food was probably the best we tasted our whole holiday and in general that standard was high. Relaxing setting and pool. Level of staff attention very disapointing for the cost - we were kept waiting every time in reception, in restaurant etc. Though they were good when they did turn up!
Nice and quiet, good food.
Its situation, and the profesional manner of staff. Restaurent was also excellent. Nothing worth commenting on.
Great surroundings Poor room facilities i.e no tea or coffee available,
Lovely setting and chataeu picturesque. Pool and surrounding area especially nice. Orchard rooms in annexe suited us as a family well. Good breads/pastries and coffee for breakfast. Reception area indistinct and check in and out process a bit vague
fantastic location. stunning building with excellent facilities. very professional staff. great pool and grounds.
the design, the surrounding scenery, the cuisine
This was a return visit. A nice family run hotel with friendly staff. Very clean and a great location very close to the train station.
friendly staff; premises clean; near shopping street. Good value for price. Showers very poor. Scalding/Freezing
Close to all facilities. This hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and welcoming.
I warmly recommend this hotel. It is in the very centrum of St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Very friendly, nice and quiet. Big comfortable room.
There was nothing I did not like about the hotel. I will be stayng there again
Good location in centre of towm-parking very convenient
Very welcme at reception, helpful expalining breakfast times. Escorted to room and informed how to change heating, and turn on television. Got the bath I requested which was excellent. No bad points
Excellent location. Shops within walking distance. Well equipped room with good decor. No problems
Decor, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and balcony with sea view Breakfast was so boring and expensive for what it was. Bar and restaurant not open and limited numbers of close by - had to drive into local towns
I liked the proximity to a lovely beach We thought that the inside courtyard rooms were a bit airless and small for summer...prob ably very cosy and warm in winter!,in any event, it was very clean , modern and comfortable. A twin room we believe is a little bit bigger and next time we are treating ourselves to a sea view with balcony.
relaxed nice area
Nice and quiet, Staff very helpful & friendly. The resturant is only open July & August. Finding food on a Monday can be a challenge as the local resturants can be fully booked or closed.
everything, the staff the decor the atmosphere was excellent -the location is excellent just cannot fault it for the rate charged. room service for drinks ends a bit early and the hotel itself shuts at 21.00 so no access to drink or snacks thereafter. That said took own drinks/snacks in the second night so no problem.
Pleasant room with table and chairs well decorated A pity there was no restaurant service, it was a wet and miserabe October evening and we had to drive again(after a long drive through France) to get a meal.
localityto beach excellent.Secure parking for car excelllent
Very nice hotel, comfortable spacious room with sea view and balcony. Good value for money. Very good breakfast. Locking up the hotel and closing reception at 9pm!
This hotel was fantastic, the rooms were spotless, beautifully furnished and the shower was excellent on a par to a mini wet room. The staff were friendly, efficient, welcoming and helpful. Would definitely go back again and again.
Excellent, fun hotel, brilliant location, nice room, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but good quality and plenty of it. None at all.
We liked being able to self cater in our extremely clean apartment which was small but well equipped and comfortable. Pool was pleasant but rather cold.
The hotel was very well located for beach and restuarants, the room very clean and comfortable and the staff first class. They switched us from a studio to a room with no problems.
very friendly staff, ideal location for beach and town
So much better than first impressions - We arrived at the hotel and were somewhat disappointed, however once we were inside the room, it was beautiful. Clearly recently refurbished, it was large and spacious with modern features....the best shower by far! Very clean and with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. It was a 10 min walk into the centre but this did mean that it was peaceful
Confort and cleaning TV
nothing It feels like a motel and it is very basic not good value for money
indoor and outdoor swimming pools rooms were quite poor and it would be hard to stay any longer than 3 nights without tripping over each other....the room was for 4 we had 2 adults and a 3 year old and were cosy on the extreme...oh and the cooker shorted out for 1 whole evening tripping all power in the fuse box
clean rooms and friendly service
