delightful art, furnishings and decoration; storage of luggage on final afternoon; jacussi advertised but not yet available; small room
The Restaurant The Mini Bar to be replenished every day
I am satisfied with the Hotel. The location is in the centre, free Wi-Fi (I even have it in my room as well not only in public places), friendly staff, good breakfast.
Great Location! Second time in this hotel and I wouldn't try staying anywhere else.
Comfort, central position, friendly staff Extremely noisy, especially at night. Very poor sound proofing - we could hear the man next door snoring!
Cleanliness of the room and bathroom, and quality of the rich breakfast Tiny dimensions of the room with double bed not exceeding 1.3 m in width
The staff could not have been more helpful. One of my credit cards was stolen and they really did everything they could to assist. The room was small, even for central Madrid. The cost of the room was high for its size, but it would be unfair to single this hotel out. Comparable hotels at this location are all the same.
the excellent location of the hotel in center of city! good breakfast until 11 a.m. unfortunately we didn't sleep 2 nights, very noisy outside until 6 a.m. on thursday! poor isolation of windows and walls, so we could hear when neighbours used toilet and spoke. quite little room for 2 persons and room doesn't correspond with those pictures, that are shown in internet!!! very old-fashioned and has specific smell.
Location was excellent The breakfst was quite expensive for what was offered
Clean and comfortable hotel, bathrooms have some unique designs which make your stay that bit more interesting. Good loaction for staying in the city.
5 minute walk to Puerto Del Sol (Kilometer 0) and Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful. A little tough to get to if you are driving your own car. As is often the case in Madrid, it is off a side, side, side street so more conducive to walking than driving in an out. Would have preferred a second bed in the room vs. a rollaway for our adult son, although it worked out okay.
Well-located hotel. We had a top floor room that had a balcony that overlooke a monestery with its beautiful ancient tile roofs. No place to set up one, much less two, suitcases.
Location and access to points of interest.
The central location of the hotel near Pl.Mayor, Puerta del Sol
We stayed at the hotel 4 days and what we liked most was it centric location, within walking distance to everything in old Madrid, and close to bus an metro stops. Plaza San Martin is at the very heart of the city and very close (5 minutes walking) to such city highlights as Plaza mayor, La Opera, Palacio Real, Gran Via, etc. Corte Ingles (the department store) is just around the corner, and also there is parking available (although pricey, $28 euros per 24 hours) just outside the hotel (parking belongs to Corte Ingles). If you have a car, do not park on the city streets as they are "residents only" parking. Breakfast is not included, and if you chose to eat at the hotel, it is pricey. Just walk to any of the coffee shops close to the hotel and have a good continental breakfast at very low price (2-5 euros).
I like its location ,near to metro stations (Callao and Sol) and well deserved . Also, breakfast buffet tasteful and good service . The room was confortable and space of its bathroom nicely shaped . This hotel is quite silence . Staff working at the Front Desk (ridiculous space !) lack of professional skills. Indeed , a no smart people . Also, at the first day of my stay (6 nights) , and in spite of my previous on line booking, they gve me a room without windows in the 1st floor .Smaller and noisy which standart can be compared with a one star in Eurpean hotel.
Staff was very helpful (and most spoke english), quick response to requests (towels, room service), very good location near Callao metro stop Bathroom was cramped, you could smell cigarette smoke when running the ac
Breakfast too expensive
Beautiful hotel, facing nice old square. Check-in took 30 sec. Comfortable and charming: old-fashioned elevator, bell epoque decor... Bathroom big, new and clean. my room on second floor had a vague smoking smell, I had to open a window while out for a dinner
The location is superb! In the city centre, next to the shopping streets, the city discos and with a choice of 3 metro stations. Good value for money too! The breakfast room on the 6th floor has one of the best views of the city. Our room saw the inner court since we had to chose between a double bed or a nice view....but that was ok actually, quiet and neat. The one and only elevator is sometimes too slow but the hotel is a restaured old building with a long history. Absolutely worth the experience!
The location was perfect, the Jr. Suite offered plenty of room, the balcony was quite nice. The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. 1 room the A/C and the hair dryer weren't working properly and that was never resolved. The parking was very expensive. Need to vacuum under the beds.
Their elevator is so unique! Very clean, amazing location for the money. Staff was really nice and helpful
Overpriced - offering poor value for money. I wouldn't stay here again. I also booked a Double/Twin room and received a single room.
Everything. The hotel was in immaculate condition. Its very central and loved the shutters to keep the city noise out.
Free Wireless connection, free minibar, clean and well equipped room. Quite location of the room
The room was a nice size, the bed was comfortable and the free wet bar came in handy. Beautiful decor and loved the double window/terraces...made the room feel romantic, bright and quaint.
Great location, helpful staff, clean and fresh rooms, brilliant bathroom, free mini-bar, welcoming chocolates and cava and Madrid is a brilliant city. Can we move in for good?
Staff service I feel that the breakfast buffet was good but understaffed. You would the folks there running around and quarreling with each other due to amount of work and alignment.
I researched hotels for days to get the perfect hotel and the Preciados was perfect. The rooms are small but that is true of most hotels in Europe. The staff were great, the room clean, beds comfortable, the minibar was a great value. It's Proximity to the center was perfect for everything. I read the review "the rooms weren't as nice as they looked in the picture", that review made me nervous, but the rooms were nicer than the picture in my opinion. It was quite. I would deinitely stay there again. We went with my 2 older teenagers and my younger daughter. It was perfect... nothing
The hotel was in a walking distance to most major touristy locations. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it is an old hotel, and rooms are somewhat small, latest renovations in rooms are impressive. Breakfast was not included, which allowed us to eat in a nice place across the street. It saved us from overeating and overspending:)) but if you don't mind 17 euro for breakfast - food selection there is great. Many Cab drivers in Madrid are not honest. Hotel staff got us an amazing reliable driver, who we used throughout our stay. (Her name is Beatriz. She only speaks Spanish. But she is punctual and honest and very pleasant - ph.662-272-407) . Keep in mind the temperature cannot be controlled from your room (at least in our room we couldn't). Simple call to the front desk, and it was adjusted to our comfort level. Only 2 small suggestions- I wish a gym in the hotel had water and towels. And I wish the hotel used different type of air freshener - automatic sprays, or diffusers. The one they use, that plugs into electric outlet, is doing more harm than good - it produced very unpleasant (for me and my family) smell.
Great location. Large, clean rooms. Daniel, our waiter and new friend, was outstanding in the sidewalk café and bar. Incredibly friendly and entertaining. The rest of the world needs to take a lesson on how to pour a drink. Not much. We did have to pull up on the "sidewalk" road, in front of the hotel, to have them take the car to park. However, this is quite common when staying in the larger cities in Spain.
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. they really made our trip a pleasure. Small things like extra chocs in the room (unexpected) also made a real difference. Excellent location.
The staff was very pleasant and accomodated our need for a triple based on a simple e-mail. Although the room had no ash trays, it had cleary been smoked in. The wood floors help with reduction of smoke but the pillows and mattresses retain the odor.
This hotel is in a great location. It was easy to stroll around and see the sights and eat in great restaurants. Also, I felt safe here. The door is kept locked and is opened only by staff. The staff respect your privacy as well. This hotel should have a bar. The breakfast wasn't worth the 10 euros in my opinion. I hated the design of the shower! Impossible to have a shower and not flood the floor.
The location was ideal, the use of the internet. The breakfast was very nice, tasty and fresh. No english speaking channels on the TV. The room was a bit small.
Fantastic position and really helpful and friendly staff
staff v friendly. good location. nice comfortable room. bikes one morning the shower was only warm, but that was fixed for remainder
Just a block or two from Plaza Mayor and Sol. Most points of interest and diverse neighborhoods. The breakfast service was excellent. I also respect well executed retrofitting of old, historic old buildings. Minor, did not get one of the rooms with a French balcony.
Situation in Madrid, Internet access in Room No info on what number to call to get recpetion
hotel had a great central location near lots of great bars and shops.staff very good toilet had damp smell
Yes, there are several reasons that I will not return to this hotel. The hallways smelled of smoke and dog urine. The room's inside smelled of smoke and dampness. I felt the sheets were dirty. I thought the room was too small for the price.
It was central placed in Madrid No
The location to the Plaza Major and Sol was perfect. The internet was reliable and accessible in the room. The showerhead was marvelous. The first room was very small and cramped, but after moving rooms, the second room was a bit more spacious.
Free wifi, Centro, quiet, friendly, clean, exellent bed. Smelly pipeline, water on bathroom floor after taiking shower.
location was very centric they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
Location was the only strength of this hotel. The carpets were dirty. There were just enough room for 4 adults. We stayed in a Petit Palace in Barcelona and the room were really spacious and decided to book with the same chain. But this one was way below expectations.
Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much! Rooms were small
the best was the location of the hotel the horrible smell in the bathroom, real problem of drains in the hotel made the stay in the room not confortable
Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!
We stayed at this hotel for the fourth time, which speaks for itself. We recommended this hotel to our friends and again they were absolutely satisfied. Would we stay at the Petit Palace Mayor Plaza again? Surely!
petit palace is a great location for cental madrid , great shops and restaurants within minutes walk , awful smell of drains in room 8 , needs better windows , can hear people and traffic outside window
Location, location, location & fancy bathroom Heavily stained carpet
location...laptop in the room & the free internet.
Excellent location. Modern hotel.
it was in a good position prefer breakfast to be included. Strange lighting in corridors, very dark.
Very nice and a good location. The heater was too high.
the wireless servise is very good ,the location is very good.
The hotel is central. I didn't like the decor and lighting - way too modern and cold looking.
friendly staff, could speak english clean modern room 24hr reception no bar dining area small
Good location! The price of booking.com was fair, actually the price mentioned at the reception is too high.So I advise to book this hotel only in case of special offers. We paid 380 Euro for 4 nights and the hotel price for 1 night is 330 Euro (unreasonable).
I liked the mix of heritage on the outside and modern design inside with attention to both tourist & business needs The hot water in the shower was only warm, I like it a little hotter
it was only a few mintutes from the city shops and resturants. the hotel was very nice and quiet and the staff were very helpfull. the shower easily flooded the bathroom floor after use, so it had to be mopped up everytime.only a minor issue
comfortable and clean hotel with friendly staff. Easy access to city centre and shopping. Lots of eating places around. a little bit cramped
Nice for this money
The location is really good!! Yhe staff look always to be tired and do not give attention to the guest.
Modern style and street view room!
Great place for getting around in the city. Had plenty of room for 6 people with two bathrooms. Great value for money! The breakfast was great, too!
The location of the hotel is good that it is closed to Sol metro / train station. However, there are many other hotels available at that area. 1) furniture&facilities are old; sliding doors of carbinet & bath can't open/close properly. 2) Hotel staff tidy up the hotel room everyday but not change the bed sheet and towels. At my arrival day, one bath towel is still wet at hotel room. 3) We are assigned to a room without computer. After request, hotel staff re-assigned another room for us with computer available. However, we can't open the room door and we returned back to the receiption and ask for help. We on and off tried opening the door and returned to reception repeatly. Finally, we found that the door lock actually can't function properly. So, we requested to change back to the first room even without computer. The staff are then black-faced.
CEntral location for a nice walk around the city It could have been more clean!
location, quietness, comfortable and stylish room
Location, asked for interior room high off the street and the noise wasn't a problem There was a musty smell
staff were lovely. nice sized rooms Difficulty parking around there. would have been nice to have parking information concerning this hotel
the location was great near the big place del sol .... shopping and restaurants are very close
Contempory look, clean, very convenient location. The bathroom had a glass door!
The location is really convinient, a few mins walk to the Palace, Plaza de la Sol, Gran Via and Plaza Mayor. The room is really small, some staffs are not too good in English.
Good location for major attractions and very friendly and helpful staff.
We were staying in Opera hotel for 12 days! The location is very central, Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. room was well equipped and clean. Good beds.Great hotel, We enjoyed every single minute in Madrid. Very modern hotel . The ideal spot to discover Madrid. We like the style of the hotel from insideGood central location, Excellent staff, managed humanly by the professional and kindly Jefe de Recepcion, Mr. Daniel Carus von der Ehe. best regards from ema and shmuel.
cleanliness the club outside the window and the noise it generated in the early hours of the morning1
Bitte schreiben Sie mindestens 15 Wörter Absolutely no parking, not even for quick check-in and baggage drop off.
Friendly reception staff. Rooms warm and welcoming Pillows could have been better quality
View from bedroom window down into Plaza san Isabel & across to Opera. ~Two minutes from main metro. Good choice of restaruants nearby. Central Shower instead of bath. Little room in bedroom. Inadequate bedside table (no drawer to put small things in. Slippery, dangerous shower cubicle.Shower kept slipping sideways on wall.
I liked the location of Hotel Opera most of all! It was great, almost next to the royal palace!
Location was excellent - a two minute walk to the Palace and Cathedral and a few more minutes to Plaza de Espana and Gran Via. I would absolutely stay here again when I'm back in Madrid. Staff was very nice and helpful. Oh, free wifi and a large safe in the room were nice to have. Only complaint was that the room was dusty in certain areas.
A totally pleasing experience.
central location and efficient rectification of fault with bath / shower, also 24hr reception did not get 4.15am wake up call requested on day of departure
Location is the main feature. Most attractions are within easy reach The room for 4 was a bit smalletr than expected and the use of bunk beds for adults is not recommended.
The location ! The room !

Location Noisy from outside
Very central location, good buffet breakfast. Very warm and stuffy - even in March. Needs air conditioning - essential in summer.
The location was perfect. It was very close to everything I wanted to see. The staff was very helpful in providing a map. The bathroom was one of the best. Nice shower. I was not a fan of the room. It had no windows and was clausterphobic. It also was very noisy. Breakfast was a little weak compared to the other facilities traveling around Spain and Italy.
Great location. Friendly bi-lingual staff. Upper floor rooms have large balconies with views to Puerta del Sol. Laptop in the room. Decor is starting to get tires. Pieces of trim missing from the walls. Walls were dirty, with handprints. Room smelled badly. I had to sleep with the door open to the balcony, which made for a noisy night, since it sits right on the pedestrian area in a bar district. I think another room would have been fine.
Location is perfect. Rooms are very small and very hot. Cannot control the temperature.
good breakfast.flexible arrangements let us store our luggage. relaxed feel to hotel. very goodlocation
Good location Easy Access to city centre and Metro Hotel requires decorating and general upgrade
Front desk staff superb, our room was very comfortable and within walking distance for everything, so we though it was perfrect! We asked for a king or queen bed, non smoking, and got twin beds, the smell of smoke lingered in the air, but I imagine there is not a lot you can do about that. Smell of cigarettes....
1. Price Old and very run down.
Excellent location, near Plaza España. I travel with my dog, dog welcome (notified with booking), but very expensive. Garage next door, easy access from the North towards Madrid (i.e. A6). Noticed other people complaining about room, but I got an excellent twin room at the back side of the hotel, so very quiet. Bathroom fine. Breakfast good. Didn't dine here. I spent six days here and found it comfortable enough. The surrounding parks are great when travelling with a dog. Hotel is used by many groups, some can be quite noisy. High cost of dog not notified to me in advance. When I asked about this they told me "But you made your reservation through Internet", as if that should make a difference. Hotel seems to be in need of refurnishing but not to the point that this is annoying. Poor plant on Floor 3 didn't survive neglect of staff, guests must have watered it, but is was too late...
Location. Friendly & helpful staff. Bar was only open on demand and staffed from reception. I would prefer a "breakfast included" deal.
cleanliness no parking
Close to the city center. Plaza De Espana is 2 minutes far walking. Internet was not working at all. The receptions told me that it was due to fact that my room was far form the access point..... They suggest me to go outside of my room to use internet...
ease of parking and access to major roadways good breakfast service lack of free use of PC's with nternet access
It was a very warm spell during our stay but the room temperature was quite good. Better than some more modern hotels. The food was disgusting. I eat very, very little of the one evening meal we took - and got food poisoning. I am still unwell, 3 days later.
Great location and staff, and a pretty good breakfast. The hotel is really cute.
The location is excellent! Right near the heart of Madrid. The staff are rude, abnoxious, self centered and about as helpful as an ash tray on a Ducati....
Helpful people at the reseption, God location. Bad smel i my room. The price was to high comparet with the standard of the hotel.
central situation room was very old.did not seem to be clean.waiting for renovation,as other rooms were done already
The location The fact that on internet there are beautiful renovated rooms and then the offer is always for the shitty rooms they have left... so it´s a shame.
Location, friendliness of staff, 24 hour reception. It was a two star hotel so I didn't expect the earth. It was fine for what I paid, no real complaints - just minor things like lack of English language TV channels or complimentary shampoo.
Location was the only good thing. Undergoing refurbishment which is badly required. No internet, no bar, lift does not cover all floors, no tea, coffee making facilities in room.
I liked the quaint retro feel and the ease of access to so many great spots in Madrid!
Excellent value for a very good room.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. The sliding door on the bathroom didn't leave much room for privacy.
It was a quick and easy hotel, no problems at all and the building inside was stunning with a balcony opposite my friends flat. Couldnt have asked for a better hotel for what i needed. According to my parents, the nightclubs below provided a nice screaming band at 5 in the morning. But thats not the hotels fault i suppose! And the location is in the heart of the city so it is to be expected.
Very convenient for the metro and restaurants Very noisey during the night.
It is located in a street close to Gran Via, very close to the Palace and the city center. The rooms were quite ok, not very luxureous. Bedding good. Breakfast buffet was sumpteous and good. We stayed here in winter but the rooms were to warm at night and we couldn't sleep with the windows open because the street is quite noisy at night.
It is very convenient to the city centre. We returned to our room at 11.30 - check out was 12.00 noon, only to find the room was already locked.. not convenient, but matter was resolved quickly by the maid.
The most i liked about El Coloso was its location in the city. To me it seemed like a 3 star hotel. I expected a better quality.
The location was excellent, metro nearby to connect to the airport (2 euro each way!) and the rest of the city and the hotel was in walking distance to shop and to visit different tourist sites. The location of the hotel felt very safe as there is a police station 2 doors down. Staff were very helpful with directions and queries about Madrid. In addition, we had a late flight the last day and the hotel kept our luggage till we needed it, allowing us to roam freely around Madrid for the last few hours! Brilliant service!! Would definitely recommend this hotel. Everything was great to be honest, a very very small thing would be the springs in the bed were noisy, making noise for every small movement even though the bed was actually comfortable. This was a bit annoying, but I would not let it allow it to undermine the hotels excellent features!
the location is excellent it is rated as a 4 star but would not reach 3 stars in my book, the finish was not there. The staff however, was excellent, and the location great, but the quality of the room was substandard.
The desk clerk was nice and polite After staying in Europe for 2 weeks this was by far the worst and not worthy of 4 stars! It was old with a musty smell. The air conditioner did not work, the shower did not work, the third bed was broken. The walls outside the room looked terrible. It is bad need of updating
very close to an attractive street and metro&bus stops
i did not have a confortable stay at this hotel as the aircondition in my room was not working and the staff did not gave me a proper solution.
proximity to downtown, but not on major street, so not too noisy
Very calm. It should be noticed that the price/quality is a great plus of this hotel. We realy liked this hotel and I guess it would be hard to find better for this price. Metro station is 2min. walk and the royal palace 5 min. maximum. Go there It stays a 3 starts, but it is a very good 3 starts
Location is perfect. Very quiet. WIFI works great. Staff are nice Nothing
The friendliness of the staff
Great location. Helpful staff. Clean and spacious room.
The Cason det Tormes has an excellent quiet location, being in a side street only a short walk from the Plaza de Espana metro where 3 metro lines cross. A couple of things I especially liked about our room were the blackout curtains wich made it easy to sleep on in the morning after late nights out (essential in Madrid!), plus the shower was really powerful. The staff at reception were friendly and quickly recognised us and knew our room number: a nice personal touch which is often missing in other city hotels. On our last day we were able to leave luggage free of charge to collect at the end of the day before we went to the airport. We had asked for a double room, but unfortunately the hotel staff did not notice this request and gave us a twin room. They did offer to move us the following day, but we decided to stay where we were as the room was quiet and comfortable.
The location that was excellent, near of the Gran Via and other touristic atractions.
Position near metro The noice from the neighbouring rooms
Value for money for a clean room that is 2 minutes away from the main shopping district in Madrid. The hotel is located in a small lane, not that we encountered any serious issues with safety. As others have said, the water pressure of the shower is really low, although thankfully, hot water is always available.
Staff were always pleasant and helpfull and fluent in English.
