This was one of my favorite hotel stays in my life. I was traveling with my husband. We really enjoyed the ocean view (We also saw what the city view would be, and I'm sure it would be nice). The location was excellent, right on the water but also a very short walk into old town. The staff was the nicest and most helpful in Spain, especially the concierge, who gave great recommendations for everything we wanted to do. Location, staff, view, concierge.
Great location, clean rooms, strong AC, shower pressure was very good, and the room is quiet considering the noise outside the hotel. The wifi was spotty and slow.
Excellent hotel. Recently renovated. Conveniently located in centre of city. Great staff. Warm and friendly. Hop off and on bus tour close by. Nothing
I loved the central location of the hotel and yet it was very quiet and peaceful.
Good location Nothing
The staff was excellent! They ran out of white wine at the hotel bar!
friendly, helpful staff. very clean and well furnished room. great location for all interests. relaxed athmosphere.
great location, near the metro and puerto del sol. At least one of the staff can speak english
Clean and great part of the city Food was not offered later at night
the cleaning staff are polite & work well- the bar service is outstanding, the receptionist was sweet but no sense of direction, I didnt like the fact that the lighting for the room and the bathroom were together on one switch- so going to the bathroom at night is either in the dark or waking your partner up when the lights go on...then something tiny- the stairs from to the sidewalk are slippery & the double doors for the entrance are slow...
the breakfast was very good in fact i would say it was excellent no it was very central
good position near the metro and the most interesting place. the only bad thing was the water coming out from the bath and shower.
This was a really well situated Hotel in the middle of Madrid and next to Metro Station Callao. Very nice rooms. At the moment, no English TV chanels.
location, design, new Lack internet connection (?)
Great location, double glazed for noise outside, which is abundant as it's right in the city center. Air conditioner, Tv monitor which is also a computer screeen. I didn't expect carpets on floors and some surfaces in a 4 star hotel and in a hot country like Spain. It makes the rooms very stuffy. Also the bath quite claustrophobic, narrow, left very little room for movement in what it looked like more like a niche in a cemetery.
Staff courtesy ,amiability .Clean enviroment
The location was good. The staff was not helpful at all. There was a long queue at both check in and check out. Upon check in we were not given any instructions about the breakfast that was included in our rate and consequently we needless paid twice for our meal. Since we had booked online, the hotel was "unable" to make restitution. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it. There are too many other wonderful options available in Madrid. establishment.
Location & comfort of the rooms. Concierges were very helpful General off hand manner of all waiters and bar staff.
Room was comfortable and great location Internet connection in the business centre was too slow!
Great room, nice size, clean bigger bathroom than expected. Terrific restaurant with delicious coffee and pastries. We arrived well ahead of check-in and were graciously given our 2 rooms hours early with a smile. The street noise could be heard in room, somewhat.
The location and my room was cozy for a single occupant no cork screw in room -- minor
The location was GREAT!!!!! One block away from main street, so quiet in the evening, and perfect during the day. I would definitely stay here again!!!
My boyfriend and I stayed here with extended family for a week. Great location, everyone that worked there was really nice/helpful and the rooms were great. So happy to have stayed here during our European adventure! Breakfast/buffet was not included in our stay but there are great little breakfast spots for a cheaper price right down the road from the hotel. workout facilities were a little older
modern, centrally located. Able to get quiet ground floor room (no need to use elevator) location is in the Red Light District--many "characters" loitering about
They were very friendly and the location was excellent. I was traveling by myself and I felt safe the entire time. It got really hot in the room and there was no other way to turn the temperature down because the heating was still on for the winter. Leaving the window open during the night was bothersome because there was a lot of noise down in the street.
I shared with my brother and we had a lovely sized room. The shower was one of the best in Europe! No hot water/tea/coffee making facilities in room
Good location The room was too hot, and the heating could not be turned down, when we opened a window, the room filled with cigarette smoke.
location...hall..friendly staff rooms are small,,,internet costy
Four star hotel at a very reasonable price I met the manager James and he was very helpful and friendly and very young. I was at the hotel lfor 10 days and had no complaints. Miquie and German who preped the breakfast were very cordial and polite and smiley and the coffee was good too .... Good thing there was no noise the hotel is on a quiet street even can't hear the neighbors next-door......
We loved the room, great big bed and lovely heated bathroom. Excellent choice at breakfast and the location couldn't be beaten. Had a lovely time! Great for our anniversary!
The hotel location was great. Walking distance to many of the major sites of the city but on a quiet street near lots of good shopping and eating places. Our room had a smokey smell when we first arrived. Management offered a room switch but since we didn't want to change, they had the room sprayed and the next morning had all bed linens changed. After that the room was fine.
Great location, good rooms for sleeping, friendly employees... No "view" at the back of the hotel but we only went in to sleep so no problem.
very nice, comfortable and spotless rooms
We had a complaint and it was dealt with immediately The first room we were given on the 5th floor was very noisey. So we were moved to a much nicer room on the 1st floor
The balcony from our room was an added bonus. It was nice to use to enjoy a bit of the sun. Also the breakfast was great, with a lot to choose from. It was quite warm in the room and you couldn't adjust the temp.
Location was very central. Very comfortable hotel, spacious and well maintained. Staff very nice and one particular barman was very helpful. No tea or coffee making facilities and my wife was not impressed with the hair dryer as it just burned your head instead of drying hair.
Clean, modern accommodation, well-tended by maid service, very comfortable bed. Service at the desk was very helpful and they were very attentive, spending as much time as I wanted for information and suggestions. Comprehensive breakfast buffet for 13 euros. Location in the center of Madrid is really excellent—close to main Metro stop and most sights within reasonable walking distance. Oh, and the shower was luxurious! Not much to fault at all. In fact—no complaints at all.
This Hostel was in the middle of the Centre of Madrid. However, there were too many prostitutes in the neighbour of this Hostel.
Good location, Funny surroundings - Red district :)
Hotel is well situated (in the City Centrum, near metro station); provides rather good value for payed money. Rooms are normally equipped. Breakfast service looks quite appropriate. In whole, my wife and me are satisfied in staying Laris. Hotel is suitable for short business trips. 1. Hotel people don't speak English, and sometimes are not looking too affable. 2. Although the hotel is situated in ~50 m from one of the central streets (Grand Via), there are many prostitutes around hotel, and other not pleasant bozos. Really, I have not felt any menace, nevertheless, I do not recommend to stay there with children.
the central place at the hotel there were too many prostitutes aroundt the hotel
Nice hotel, very friendly staff
breakfast was good. the room was very cold(in design). coffee maker didnt work.no english channels apart from cnn and fox news.for a deluxroom itdidnt have a luxurious feel. the upgrade at 80 euro a night on top of 170 per night was definetly not worth it.walls in room were dirty.pool was small, water dirty.
Cleanliness/Comfort of Room and good access to wifi. No tea/coffee making facilies - guide to TV channels.
Very exciting style. Not good enough information in the rooms
very central location (2 mins walk to the next tube station), huge and varied breakfast buffet, very comfortable beds, reasonably sized rooms (including the bathroom). Although from the outside looking very grey, a huge block of concrete, the inside is very modern and everything seems to have been recently refurbished. Ridiculous having to pay for the spa/wellness area. Even for only printing my boarding pass they wanted me to pay for the internet but in the end I was "allowed" to use a PC in the business area. To my taste the room interior was a bit too modern - certainly something to get used to.
I can't answer this question correctly as the hotel was under renovation and some of the facilities were not available If the lifts were full or not working properly there were no stairs available to use because of the renovation work
The general atmosphere in the hotel beautiful. Cooperation of staff and management of the hotel, a wonderful No
Room Decor Stinking Lobby and too much construction and construction noise in the hotel lobby and bar
Nice beds. Extra €17 for use of the 10x5m indoor pool and sauna is crazy and bad service for a 5-star hotel.Hotel staff appointed us the a very bad, underclass restaurant.
It is very conveniently placed for all the major sites, + the metro for airport access
Hotel was centrally located and convenient to everything. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast had cereal, eggs, fruit, etc. Nothing.
Good location and very central for sight seeing / shopping Room could have done with a clean; there was a big ball of dust next to the bed.Walls quite thin and could hear people in the room next to me talking.
Location, walking distance to everything and close to the metro station, this could be a like or dislike, but you have to leave your key at the front desk when you leave, and then just pick up at the front desk when you return. No risk of losing the key, so I liked this requirement no dresser for clothes, just one small closet, so plan on living out of your suitcase if you are traveling with a lot of luggage/clothes
I liked the location in the heart of Madrid surrounded by places of interest, shops, restaurants etc. The room has rather big, clean and tidy bathroom which I like very much. The style is simple but pleasant and the building I think is of the begining of 20th century (or the end of 19th) and is rather pretty. The location on Plaza Puerto del Sol has the opposite side. Of course it's one of the main squares of the city but due to that it's never empty even at 4 o'clock of the morning. The people are talking rather loudly all night long and though they didn't shout and there was no disco etc but these endless talking under my closed window was enough not to let me sleep well. And they have a strange tradition in Spain to take away garbage at 12 or 1 o'clock of the night (even at 3 o'clock sometimes), and this process of cleaning is reall loud, it was like alarm clock for me. But if you have no problems with sleep or you are going to have an active night life than this hotel is perfect (if you're not in search of luxury of course). Good 3*.
Excellent location. Staff helpfull and professional. Clean, nice size room w/small balcony. Hot water lacking at times in shower
all was nice nothing
It's centrally located, kind and informative staff and nice rooms for a reasonable price.
Location, location, location!together with high quality and wonderful staff, great value, we had a wonderful experience! nop
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is as good as it gets. Also, though I missed my flight and came a day late to the hotel, they did not charge me for the night I missed, even though they would have been wthin their rights to do so, as I did not give 48 hours notice.
The central location. The nice, clean and modern room.
The location was excellent, the room looked as it does in the pictures and all the facilities worked, which is always a bonus! The staff were very nice too.
I enjoyed the great location and wonderful accomodation.
The location is really great Too noisy
Location was very central for shopping and the sights. Breakfast buffet was great. This was the worst sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The noise from outside was unacceptable. Woken by drunken people and sirens until 4am and also the internal lift. I would never stay here again
The staff was very friendly and most helpful. The location is great since it's very close to the Gran Via Metro station and conveniently located with respect to many of the wonderful tourist sights.
I liked the fact that there was a PC installed in my room.
Free Wifi was nice. Staff were OK
The Location was very good, central and within 50m of Gran Via Metro stop. Excellent. I Also appreciated the fact that the hotel, even though located on a very busy street, was quiet and easy to sleep in. A VAT "inclusive" figure would be more beneficial in quoting rates as I was a little suprised at having to pay another 7% for my room... Also a radio/Hi-Fi would have been a very simple but welcome addition to the room (that or a faster broadband internet connection/more modern equipment to allow access to Internet radio etc.)
the hotel is in the middle of the city very handy for geting around the town , lots of places to eat and drink very close by the bathrooms are a bit odd with glass walls and doors .
The location is just off Gran Via Shower flooded as drainage was poor.
Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much! Rooms were small
location was very centric they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
petit palace is a great location for cental madrid , great shops and restaurants within minutes walk , awful smell of drains in room 8 , needs better windows , can hear people and traffic outside window
Excellent location. Modern hotel.
The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!
the best was the location of the hotel the horrible smell in the bathroom, real problem of drains in the hotel made the stay in the room not confortable
Location, location, location & fancy bathroom Heavily stained carpet
location...laptop in the room & the free internet.
The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
We stayed at this hotel for the fourth time, which speaks for itself. We recommended this hotel to our friends and again they were absolutely satisfied. Would we stay at the Petit Palace Mayor Plaza again? Surely!
Location was the only strength of this hotel. The carpets were dirty. There were just enough room for 4 adults. We stayed in a Petit Palace in Barcelona and the room were really spacious and decided to book with the same chain. But this one was way below expectations.
nada noise during night time
Location is superb and the staff very friendly and professional.
The location of the hotel is amazing. The room is too small and the bathroom door was made of glass and didn't have a proper door nor locks. There was always a bad smell in the reception.
Nice location. It's near Gran Via, Sol ,.... Everything is small, room, bathroom, and restaurant. Noisy. The sound proof is only for sound outside. You can hear everything of the room next to you, even the sound of spring bed and wood floor. The spring bed is hard.
Locariob No air conditioner No phone Small room Lots of noise at night Not clean and staff not nice
Great location. The comfortability and the cleanliness of the beds and the whole room. The staff. Good lighting inside the room. Although we liked the bathroom, the design of it's door didn't offer the person inside complete privacy.
very comfortable and easily accessible to city centre no
The location which was really central - possible to walk everywhere.
Its location was very convenient The bed for two people was just 2 twins puched together, and each had their own sets of tucked in sheets. It was very uncomfortable. Also the shower was quite dysfunctional.
The hotel is in a great location. It is in the near the center of varying plazas, providing easy access. High Tech is a misnomer as the desktop computer was non functional, and the wireless was spotty.
The free internet where fine, good staff and the location in the midle of Madrid. To much noise and a bad bathroom
the location is excellent it is rated as a 4 star but would not reach 3 stars in my book, the finish was not there. The staff however, was excellent, and the location great, but the quality of the room was substandard.
The desk clerk was nice and polite After staying in Europe for 2 weeks this was by far the worst and not worthy of 4 stars! It was old with a musty smell. The air conditioner did not work, the shower did not work, the third bed was broken. The walls outside the room looked terrible. It is bad need of updating
It is located in a street close to Gran Via, very close to the Palace and the city center. The rooms were quite ok, not very luxureous. Bedding good. Breakfast buffet was sumpteous and good. We stayed here in winter but the rooms were to warm at night and we couldn't sleep with the windows open because the street is quite noisy at night.
Very convenient for the metro and restaurants Very noisey during the night.
The location was excellent, metro nearby to connect to the airport (2 euro each way!) and the rest of the city and the hotel was in walking distance to shop and to visit different tourist sites. The location of the hotel felt very safe as there is a police station 2 doors down. Staff were very helpful with directions and queries about Madrid. In addition, we had a late flight the last day and the hotel kept our luggage till we needed it, allowing us to roam freely around Madrid for the last few hours! Brilliant service!! Would definitely recommend this hotel. Everything was great to be honest, a very very small thing would be the springs in the bed were noisy, making noise for every small movement even though the bed was actually comfortable. This was a bit annoying, but I would not let it allow it to undermine the hotels excellent features!
very close to an attractive street and metro&bus stops
It was a quick and easy hotel, no problems at all and the building inside was stunning with a balcony opposite my friends flat. Couldnt have asked for a better hotel for what i needed. According to my parents, the nightclubs below provided a nice screaming band at 5 in the morning. But thats not the hotels fault i suppose! And the location is in the heart of the city so it is to be expected.
i did not have a confortable stay at this hotel as the aircondition in my room was not working and the staff did not gave me a proper solution.
It is very convenient to the city centre. We returned to our room at 11.30 - check out was 12.00 noon, only to find the room was already locked.. not convenient, but matter was resolved quickly by the maid.
The most i liked about El Coloso was its location in the city. To me it seemed like a 3 star hotel. I expected a better quality.
Pleasant fiendly staff who are anxious to please Map directions OK but could be a little clearer
The location is great. The room was too small!!!
in the town center located near the museum, shops and restaurants some noise duringthe night in the street
Excellent price/quality ratio. Excellent location, in walking range to almost everything.
Great location just off gran via, all sites within walking distance
Breakfast was OK Noisy plumbing and noisy fans . Poor nights rest
family atmosphere, the staff was very helpful, nice, friendly and making our stay there wonderful, we felt like at home
The location Although parking in Madrid seems to be a big problem the parking arrangement is unsatisfactory for tourists. We were forced to pay 28 euro for 24 hour parking (!).
We liked it fine. Convenient and comfortable and at a good price. The thermostat of the air conditioner controls did not work. We controlled temp. by turning the air conditioning off and on.
Very good staff service
I like its location ,near to metro stations (Callao and Sol) and well deserved . Also, breakfast buffet tasteful and good service . The room was confortable and space of its bathroom nicely shaped . This hotel is quite silence . Staff working at the Front Desk (ridiculous space !) lack of professional skills. Indeed , a no smart people . Also, at the first day of my stay (6 nights) , and in spite of my previous on line booking, they gve me a room without windows in the 1st floor .Smaller and noisy which standart can be compared with a one star in Eurpean hotel.
Staff was very helpful (and most spoke english), quick response to requests (towels, room service), very good location near Callao metro stop Bathroom was cramped, you could smell cigarette smoke when running the ac
Beautiful hotel, facing nice old square. Check-in took 30 sec. Comfortable and charming: old-fashioned elevator, bell epoque decor... Bathroom big, new and clean. my room on second floor had a vague smoking smell, I had to open a window while out for a dinner
Location and access to points of interest.
The central location of the hotel near Pl.Mayor, Puerta del Sol
Well-located hotel. We had a top floor room that had a balcony that overlooke a monestery with its beautiful ancient tile roofs. No place to set up one, much less two, suitcases.
The location is superb! In the city centre, next to the shopping streets, the city discos and with a choice of 3 metro stations. Good value for money too! The breakfast room on the 6th floor has one of the best views of the city. Our room saw the inner court since we had to chose between a double bed or a nice view....but that was ok actually, quiet and neat. The one and only elevator is sometimes too slow but the hotel is a restaured old building with a long history. Absolutely worth the experience!
5 minute walk to Puerto Del Sol (Kilometer 0) and Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful. A little tough to get to if you are driving your own car. As is often the case in Madrid, it is off a side, side, side street so more conducive to walking than driving in an out. Would have preferred a second bed in the room vs. a rollaway for our adult son, although it worked out okay.
Breakfast too expensive
The location was perfect, the Jr. Suite offered plenty of room, the balcony was quite nice. The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. 1 room the A/C and the hair dryer weren't working properly and that was never resolved. The parking was very expensive. Need to vacuum under the beds.
Their elevator is so unique! Very clean, amazing location for the money. Staff was really nice and helpful
We stayed at the hotel 4 days and what we liked most was it centric location, within walking distance to everything in old Madrid, and close to bus an metro stops. Plaza San Martin is at the very heart of the city and very close (5 minutes walking) to such city highlights as Plaza mayor, La Opera, Palacio Real, Gran Via, etc. Corte Ingles (the department store) is just around the corner, and also there is parking available (although pricey, $28 euros per 24 hours) just outside the hotel (parking belongs to Corte Ingles). If you have a car, do not park on the city streets as they are "residents only" parking. Breakfast is not included, and if you chose to eat at the hotel, it is pricey. Just walk to any of the coffee shops close to the hotel and have a good continental breakfast at very low price (2-5 euros).
Simple but good rooms, big beds, nice little kitchen, good safe, spacious and well-protected parking place beneath the hotel.
One thing - I did not understand when booking that I had to request certain facilities that were listed - eg tea/coffee making and kitchen equipment
Very helpful, friendly and polite hotel staff, nice & clean rooms, nice buffet breakfast (until 11:00 Hrs), good price, good location close to the area where I needed to be : highly recommended no water boiler in the room to make your own coffee/tea.
The location is very good: the centre but the quiet street at the same time. But opposite to the hotel is the school so you won't sleep after 8.30 (the children won't let you), if only you are not lucky to have windows on the inner court. The rooms are rather spacy (specially in comparison with Paris hotels), the facilities are good. They have mini-bar, fan, condition. The style is also very nice. It was not as quiet as I expected thanks to the school opposite the hotel. And the breakfast could have been more "healthy" (more fruits, yogurt etc). But to say truth the hotel is nearly perfect, I can't say that I really didn't like anything.
It was functional but Spartan. Good location. Good breakfast, we got two for one (12E) but would not have paid for one. Front desk staff very nice. Could have been more comfortable.
Location & Help-full reception staff Room requires small fridge not mini-bar type
Good quiet location, but only a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro, and a 15 minute walk to the Real Palace. Staff were always helpful when asked for advice on tours, the metro, etc Breakfast could have had more variety (eg yoghurts, some eggs, etc.....as an Australian I guess I just can't get the hang of eating meat and cheese rolls for breakfast!!!), I ended up buying breakfast ingresients from a supermarket for a few of the mornings
The room & staff No!!
Very good location, near to main area, but back off main street so nice and quiet. Very clean and modern
The front desk staff - in particular a gentleman named Alex was extremely helpful. Since we are from the US, we needed a lot of advice for getting around in Madrid. There was no espresso bar or place to get a mixed drink in the hotel. Also, to eat anything substantial for lunch or dinner, you had to leave the hotel or cook in your room.
Location was very good, close to many major subway stations. On a lane off Gran Via (major road), so not too noisy. They gave us a smoking room despite our request for non-smoking for the first night of our stay.
The hotel was extremely clean and had great amenities. It was a great selection for a European Hotel. It was very modern and a pleasure to stay in. Also the location was close to all major sights.
breakfast noisy doors
The location of this hotel was perfect. We were easily able to navigate the city from our hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast every morning was also wonderful. The room was much smaller than anticipated. It was not much of an issue as we spent most of our time touring and not in the room, but it was surprising upon opening the door.
The staff was very helpfull and hotel was quiet as is side street even if close to Gran Via Our room was under the roof so we couldn't stand straight in one part of the room.
Very nice location.Walking distance to main attraction.10 mins drive from Real Madrid station.Cooperative staff.Great stay. Recomended .Ronojoy Family room ,pretty small. No view.Surprising the bathroom door was full glass. It is difficult with family and kids.Had to stick paper around to cover. This is really not convinient. However can be solved with some artistic paper sticking.Bunker bed in family room.Could have been double bed for the money given.
Hotel was adequate but I feel there are better for the price in the area The rooms are dull and unwelcoming and service is minimal.
Free wi-fi in the room. Good location. The room was too small.
The hotel was centrally situated in the city not far from the metro stop Gran Via. It was easy to access many shops and it was easy to walk to many of Madrid sights from the hotel. The hotel was on a small side street so there was no noise from passing traffic. It was clean and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were spotless and for the price a good size and offered a wonderful shower room. I would definitely stay here again.
Location, close to Gran Via. No parking and no drop off area in front of the hotel. Necessary to use public parking close to the hotel. Despite of discount for hotel guest it cost over 20 euros per day.
the location of the hotel Rooms are too small, decoration and lighting too gloomy
