It's clean easy access hotel No food available in the afternoon (not even a sandwich)after our arrival.
Clean, nice staff. Great location. Strongly recommended!
The location, the staff, the room decorations, the room service, the quiet at night and particularily the breakfast. hi speed internet, Rather small elevators [to be expected in a building of that age], A/C a bit undersized.
Old world charm and location. Great lobby and dining rooms Room furnishings and hall carpets need refreshing
Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!
Fantastic, we generally dont spend that much money for a hotel but after a terrible experience the night before, it was worth it!
We liked this hotel very much, luxury. Staff was very polite, we arrived 13 p.m., check in should be 14 p.m., we were offered to wait 20 minutes and offered drinks free of charge. In room we also found compliments, it's very nice, when you arrive. Buffet breakfast costs 30 eur per person.
The pleasure that a very comfortable and opulent hotel can give. The reception rooms are magnificent and staff and service were excellent, as you would expect.
The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street. Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from. Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience: While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things. Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up? Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant. Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.
The location, comfort and style. We stayed at the hotel 7 days and the 4th day we had to ask to vacuum the room. Only one arm chair fitted into the small room we had. Cleaning inconsistent. Not much selection at breakfast even when it was very expensive.
I loved the hotel, the look of the outside and the entry. The service is not what I have experienced at other Ritz hotels. The rooms were dated.
The room The location The general ambience We reserved a room with breakfast thru 'get a room' and surprised to see that it was not a buffet breakfast!!! for getting the buffet breakfast we needed to add some more money.... Not all the recommendations of the concierges were good, sometimes it seemed like they recommended places that they had personal interests/connections in.
Hotel staff were fabulous ,location excellent As long as you dont mind a bit of faded grandeur and pink wardrobes an excellent choice
The staff was extremely helpful and they upgraded us to a jr suite. The location to the park and designer shops very good. Also great breakfast.
I would recommend this hotel to all those, who like to be close to the centre but not in the midst of traffic noise. Walking distance to all major galleries (Prado, Thyssen, Reigna Sophia), beautiful park just in front of the hotel, excellent services and - yeah - free minibar - all this makes this hotel excellent. I would prefere separate bathroom instead of glass wall inbetween the room and bathroom.
Location and especially attentive service overall
All the facilities but particularly the helpful, courteous and multi-lingual staff. No
The hotel is clean and well appointed. There were ample facilities (restaurants, pools, etc.) It was fairly empty, so many of the facilities downstairs (pub, screening room, etc.) were not open. The entire downstairs was dark. It just seemed so empty and lonely
The area was so nice and quiet. I like to walk so the convenience to other transportation sites was fine. This is a great hotel. The bed was so comfortable. The staff actually respects your wishes of not being disturbed. I will stay here again on my next visit.
Nice location by Retiro Park Overpriced and not good valuie. They refused to send an ironing board to the room, we had to pay for a valet service to iron our clothes! The hotel bar was a tiny dark room with no windows! And their website lied saying the room had a balcony, which it didn't. We only chose this hotel because we wanted a balcony, so were very disappointed.
Perfect location. Beautiful rooms and facilities. Good amenities (Aqua di Parma!). Nice staff. Breakfast extremely expensive. Poor internet reception (slow). Dirty and not warm jacuzzi.
Well-located hotel close to museum district and shopping areas. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Design and layout of the rooms, and hotel in general, is very appealing.
The Hotel staff were the most pleasant helpful group of people in all our travels in Spain. We were traveling for 2 weeks.I would go back to this Hotel anytime. I did not like that people could smoke on the Hotel property.
The reception and the receptionist, incredibly helpful and nice
The hotel is overpriced for it's location and the type of room I was given. The room was tiny and had no natural sunlight. As well, the morning when I checked out, the front desk person was rude and seemed extremely anxious/nervous.
The hotel staff was very friendly and kind. He speaks English well and his explanation was to the point. The Hotel location was very good. It's easy to access to Estación de Madrid-Puerta de Atocha. If we walk for 5 minutes from the Hotel, there were some restaurants. One problem was that there is no safety box in the room. The receptionist kept our passports in the reception.
a large room, location internet, the floor was a little sandy
Helpful staff No safe in room.
The location is most convenient to the Atocha train station and the nearby Retiro Park. Also very walkable to the fabulous Museo del Prado. The rooms are very small and worse, the ventilation system is terrible. We were there in between seasons (no heat and no air-conditioning). The room was miserably hot and when we complained, the staff replied "the whole hotel is hot."
Across the road from Etosha station and Metro exits by the hotel. 10min walk into old town centre and close to central park and other big attractions. Good location. With all new hotels these days, the bedroom walls were too thin and hence woken up in the early morning by people in the corridor or next door.
nothing honestly rooms are too small ,no restaurent in week ends and transport is not good
Just 50 mtr. from Atocha high speed train (AVE).Walking distance. The WIFI access is expensive but works fine. the single rooms are too small.
The best point of this hotel is its location, across the street from the train station. This was very convenient, and I was also able to walk to some interesting plazas and places to eat. The room is very small. It served my needs well traveling alone, but would have been very tight with more than one person in it.
