Pros: We loved everything about our stay here. It was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. We stayed for one night with a half day safari in the afternoon. The safari itself was so much fun. We were lucky enough to spot a Leopard and Black Bear. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Overall, it was an amazing experience!
Pros: Staff was very friendly, Sumit was a great guide with a lot of knowledge about flora and fauna. He took us on a very interesting nightwalk too, showing us some birds and even a tree snake! Tents were clean and had all the amenities you need without the superfluous luxury shizzle. BBQ dinner was delicious! For a Safari at Wilpattu we can highly recommend this place and also Sumit as a guide!
Cons: Wilpattu National Park contains a lot of forest, therefore it is not so easy to spot big game (or maybe we were just not so lucky) . We took two half day Safaris but would recommend to do a fullday safari. The reason being the long drive into the heart of the national park and back again.
Pros: The camp experience was fantastic and we really loved the dinner under the stars. The tent was spacious and had a lovely hot shower. You won't go hungry as they served tea and snacks on arrival and again in the morning before we left for safari. They went above and beyond ensuring they had vegan food for us and the staff were all so welcoming and helpful. Do bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, as expected there was some animal noise throughout the night but we didn't mind. We managed to get a taxi from Columbo airport for £40 which was much cheaper than the camp quoted.
Cons: We didn't see as much wildlife as we had hoped on the safari, mainly birds and lizards. It felt like most of the time we were just driving along an enclosed track and it didn't feel like a big enough push to see the leopards. The room was a little chilly at night so blanket should be provided, we also would have liked a kettle in the room.
Pros: Beautiful location.. The dinner near the campfire was good. The afternoon safari tour was really good. Not busy. We saw a lot of animals. Sloth bear, jaguar, birds etc.
Cons: Small bathroom
Pros: Eco-friendly, no plastic policy Spacious and well arranged tent setting in the grounds Very good food but above all: great and very helpful staff making sure you are looked after and your journey continues as planned.
Pros: We had a wonderful experience here. Everyone was so welcoming. The safari was organised and was brilliant, we saw a leopard and a bear! The dinner under the stars was magical and we were taken on a night walk. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Wish we had more time to stay longer!
Pros: Could it fault the service from this property after I had to push the dates out twice due to transport issue. The staff were so accommodating! Thank you
Cons: Nothing but it was hot so I would not check in til later afternoon.
Pros: We had a great half day safari, spotting both a leopard and a sloth bear. The guides were very knowledgeable and worked hard to find the animals. The tents are very comfortable with everything you’d expect in a hotel room. The staff could not be more attentive and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would highly recommend a safari here, we loved it.
Pros: Lovely place and really enjoyed the Safari. Real privilege.
Cons: Could do with some road signs to find the place :-)
Set in Nochchiyagama, Wilpattu Holiday Home offers a garden. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi throughout the property. All guest rooms feature a private bathroom with a bidet and free toiletries. An Asian breakfast is available every morning at the resort. Anuradhapura is 33 km from Wilpattu Holiday Home.
Pros: Such a wonderful place out in nature. Loved staying in our own little "hut" You could bird watch right from your room or take long walks in the area. We saw peacocks and hornbills and even had a monitor lizard at our window. The air conditioning was fantastic. The electric strip in the room came in so handy in charging cameras and phones. We have never seen this anywhere else but what a perfect amenity! When you travel you are always looking for more electric outlets. Amazing hospitality with fresh coconut water or fresh squeezed juice when we had been gone for the day. They owner even arranged a safari for us at a pretty reasonable price. He also arranged a driver to take us to our next location in Ilandiya at a reasonable price. Enjoyed the breakfast each morning and though we didn't eat every dinner here the one we did have was delicious and hearty.
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpful
Cons: We did full-day safari with them for Rs 10,000 (2p). There was no guide but the driver would spot animals while driving. We did see many animals but no leopards nor sloth bears. It was agreed that it would last from 6:00 to 17:30, but the driver decided against our will to finish at 16:15, when it was the most active time for the animals. After telling the owner, he was apologetic and refunded us Rs 2,000.
Pros: Food was super and calm environment to stay. Bandara the caretaker was soo friendly and very helpful. This is really nice place to stay.
Pros: Situation close to Willpattu NP Very nice staff (thanks Barran and Yashan) Nice dinner Beautiful area
Cons: Small room
Pros: Perfectly located for Safari in Wilpattu National Park. Host made us a huge lunch package for a reasonable price, also packed breakfast for the Safari. He arranges Safaris for his guests also. (Which we unfourtunately didn't book, because we had already booked "the same for better price" via our taxi driver. "Better price" was true, but "the same" meant 8 hours safari (minus 1 hour break) instead of 12 hours, what is the usual length for full day tours. After that we booked everything directly at the accommodations we stayed in for the rest of our trip around Sri Lanka and never had a bad experience doing that. They always try their best to get the guests satisfied.)
Cons: Only stayed one night - arrived late and got up early, so there wasn't much time finding something to complain about ;-)
Pros: Perfect location. I took the bus that dropped me off at the highway. It's only a short (30 minute) walk from there. The surrounding area of the place is perfect for bird spotting! (Check out the dirt road on the other side of the main road). The service is amazing. The caretaker arranged a full day safari for me and cooked amazing meals including a packed lunch for the safari. I got to see just about everything on the safari including a Leopard! I highly suggest doing what I did if you are into wildlife photography: on the day of arrival go look for birds in the afternoon around the accommodation, next day do a full day safari, day after wake up at 6 for some more birdwatching then breakfast at 9 and check out. Perfect!
Cons: The room was really hot. The room doesn't have mosquito screens for the windows so can't really open a window because of insects. (The beds do have mosquito nets but I still don't want insects flying around everywhere) One more thing: on the safari we had car trouble. A mechanic came to fix it but it took 1.5 hours before we could continue. The driver didn't apologize nor did we stay longer to make up for lost time. Luckily we saw a Leopard after that otherwise I would have been really disappointed.
Pros: The dinner and breakfast was amazing! The staff members are very very friendly and helpful! Rooms are not luxury but quite good to stay for a night!
Situated in a national park, this tentalow is within 6 mi (10 km) of Nochchiyagama Grand Mosque, Nochchiyagama District Hospital, and Wilpattu National Park. Thambuttegama Hospital and Mirisawetiya Stupa are also within 20 mi (32 km).
Pros: Outstanding personal service, very clean and safe tents which is sealed. Geartfull candlelight dinner outside by the fireplace, great safari - saw many different animals including leopard (3 times on 3 drives) Our naturalist was excellent, we learned so much from him. The camp manager gave us a lot of interesting information on the company and their mission and also Sri Lanka as a whole.
Pros: Its all perfect! Thanks to Sameera! Gianmarco e Rebecca
Pros: The staff was top notch and very professional. From the naturalist to the serving staff we couldn’t expect better.
Cons: The property is a little far from Colombo, not that they can help that, We had a little problem getting there but in fairness we went on Christmas Day. And they did help us get a ride eventually.
Pros: Meals and camp experience were exceptional. Activities included a morning and afternoon safari drive. We saw a great diversity of wildlife (sloth bear, spotted deer, crocodile, elephant, mongoose, peacock, variety of birds) unfortunately the leopards were shy and we didn't get to see them. I only wish that they would have had a pair of binoculars for people to share. The tented camp is very comfortable with two large room fans to keep the sleeping temperature comfortable. Dinner was served under the stars with a nice camp fire providing excellent atmosphere. Service was outstanding. WIfi was available in the "lounge"
Cons: Exceed our expectations- nothing that we didn't like. Wish there were a pair of binoculars available. Would have liked to have had a beer at teatime. But alcoholic beverages were only offered at dinner.
Pros: Simply, wow! Food was amazing, staff incredibly attentive, tent was luxurious and comfortable. Safari driver and guide were incredibly knowledgeable. Would return here in a heartbeat..... And we were lucky enough to see a leopard and a sloth bear
Pros: The dedicated and professional staff here went out of their way to make our stay an unforgettable experience during a tricky time for all in March brought on by the pandemic. We were treated to fabulous bird-watching, a night drive to spot nocturnal animals, nature walks, wonderful food and an in-depth cooking lesson with explanations of the health-giving properties of the ingredients.
Cons: All good.
Pros: The food was AH-MAZING! Can't fault it. The chefs really know how to cook tasty food and we were not left hungry. There was plenty to eat and they catered so well to my two year old as well. The safari tent was great. The space inside was amazing. It can get a little hot in there during the day but that's expected given the location- at night, the temperature drops and it is quite nice. The candles were lit when we got home from our safari which was a nice little ambient touch. Cannot fault the facilities/food and staff and TOTALLY worth the money. Dinner and a bonfire was a favourite of mine underneath the stars with my fiance + son.
Cons: We didn't organise a driver to our next stop Anunradhpura, so our host organised it for us. It cost us $40 USD which seemed a bit excessive for a 30 minute drive. We were told that there were no other drivers around and it was too late to arrange something else. We were told later by another local driver- that accommodations get a commission on the driver's bookings. Not sure if this is what happened but it was the most expensive journey for us in Sri Lanka for such a short trip.
Pros: The camp is excellent. The tents are very well appointed, large and comfortable, the food is interesting and delicious (and there is a lot of it!), the staff are all very friendly, attentive and helpful and all go above and beyond to make your stay special. The jeep drivers are exceptionally talented and the naturalists are very knowledgable and can spot even the tiniest of animals on safari! The sounds of the cicadas and the frogs at night are amazing. We had a brilliant couple of days and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to go to Wilpattu. It is expensive but you do get a wonderful experience. Top tip - do the full day safari (rather than a half day or 2 half days) if you can as you get 12 hours in the park to properly explore rather than approx. 3 hours on the half day, much of which is spent getting in and out of the park...
Cons: The mosquitoes but there is obviously nothing they can do about that!! There are mosquito nets and a bug repellent plugged into a socket in the tent so all precautions have already been taken.

Pros: simpaly to say a good place to start the safari
Cons: no w-lan connection
