It was just what we needed after a long flight, clean, spacious, modern and comfortable.
The convenient possision, the room was very quiet, no airport noice. The bar area not very acceptable for eating a light meal
Brand new, lovely hotel and a superb Garden Inn. Comfortable and crispy clean. Nice staff at the bar and check in. Easy access from Hatton Cross Tube stop. Read a review that transportation was bad and have to agree. Expensive at GBP 4:50 each. Worse yet was the SURLY, RUDE, UNHELPFUL CRETIN that drove the bus. Awful.
location for airport
Location The hotel was very noisy and the housekeeping staff kept slamming doors keeping us up. In addition we asked a server about the menu and she rudely told us to ask someone else and walked off.
My wife needed to see a GP and they quickly called one out for us. They were very helpful.
The bed was inviting and clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was lovely! I didn't have a computer with me so was grateful I could come in free of charge to write an email. There was nothing I didn't like.
Very convenient, great location to airport
friendly staff, convenient location
Checkin was quick. Food at the bar was good (see also what I did not like) I picked the hotel because of the name, I stayed in excellent Jury's Inss before, also because it was (said to be) close to the underground & heathrow, Only at the exit there was no indication where the hotel was located, and the hotel was not visible. So I had to ask around, before finding the hotel. It was a bit farther away than described. At check-in they told me the restaurant would be open until 22h30, and gave me a key-card for my room that did not work. When coming back down to the restaurant I was told it closed early, so I had to go to the (overflowing) bar, and had to wait to get a seat. My room was close the the elevators, and poorly insulated, and I heard the elevators moving up and down, and stopping at my floor all night.
More for convenience,as I have to catch early flight. Proximity to the tube is the other plus points. none
The Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food is great at reasonable prices, everything looks smart and well organised. it is right next to the tube station which was convenient. The rates are low and you get much more than you expected for this sort of price. the breakfast was great and plenty of choice. Basically I would use this hotel again if I am in the area – very pleasant stay.
Sheer beauty of the place, lots of history and fantastic grounds. The price!!!
Lovely hotel and grounds and yet a comfortable feeling I found the 'extras' a bit expensive - £18 for a glass of champagne and £4 for a local call for example. We had a private lunch with friends in the Boudoir at lunchtime and stayed overnight (ate in the Terrace) and paid out a tidy sum all in all, so I found that some of the charges were a bit excessive - the £209 charge for coffees (on top of the meal) at lunchtime was a bit high!
For a special occasion location and staff generally are very good Tried to charge me vat on top of the agreed room rate I had to be persistent to correct this- newspaper not delivered to room - very long wait for breakfast
The reason we chose cliveden was because we had visited the house and grounds previously and the house and the grounds are spectacular. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. a stay at this hotel represents abismal value for money, cliveden as a hotel only survives due to its spectacular location. At nearly £300 per night I would expect at least some things to be provided complimentary as they are ith other hotels, ie there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and only two small bottles of water provided, for this rate I woulkd expect a fruit bowl and full drinks facilities. Although the staff were mainly friendly (there were only one or two that were stuffy and slightly condescending) ther is a culture at cliveden of expecting substantial tips, I do tip, and I tip for good service, however I feel slightly uncomfortable when I am given no other option than someone carrying my bag witha tip expecte
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The historic surroundings and contents were most interesting. We were upgraded to a better room without asking. Very creaky floors in the bedroom!
The staff were very helpful and it was a lovely inviting hotel. Nothing
noisy, outdated, slow internet and stil wired access (despite high speed written in the room), minibar empty, TV not working, temperature too hot and unable to sort out. I will not come back to this hotel anymore in the future.
We were attending a family wedding in Maidenhead. It was easy to jump in a taxi to the hotel from the railway station and within walking distance of the town centre. Good for families as the hotel has a swimming pool and a steam room & sauna for the adults. Good breakfast.
It was close to the place we was dining at that evening. The fact that the room walls had stains on, the carpet had stains on, no proper ventilation to the room, it was under construction which was not mentioned to me before i went there!
Room was clean View of the carpark. Long walk to room.
new clean fresh
Location near lhr was very useful to us. Room was very comfortable. Check-in was a disaster, as we were not told where to find the room. We were told the room had two bedrooms, when we had booked two separate rooms. We eventually got our two rooms but it shouldn't have been so difficult after a tiring day.
friendliness of the bar staff no
It was local to where I needed to be There was a lot of noise from staff filling and emptying bins early in the mornings directly outside our room (approx 7:30 both mornings) The cost of drinks and refreshments at the bar/lounge where exspensive (£5.50 for a glas of wine!). I can see no reason why this should be so much more than a standard Bar/restarunt.
breakfast was good apart from cup of tea having floating oily bits. shower was cold in the morning so we complained to staff along with other couples in our group. Staff confirmed they had problems but did not offer any compensation or reduction in our bill. Also it cost £9.70 for 2 vodka and cokes.........ridiculous prices. Also hotel did not think we were entitled to breakfast as aprt of this deal but our voucher showed we were so they had to send 2 breakfast vouchers up to our room after checking with management.
Very helpful and friendly staff, eager to help and delive customer needs Bar prices were extortionate
Relatively clean I chose the hotel because of its supposedly superior pool and fitness room, but they closed right after I arrived. Why would an airport hotel close its facilities at night?
the strict minimum!! 14 GBP for wifi
The food was great, and the service terrific too. Doors a bit scratched up.
Reasonably priced, comfortable, very close to Heathrow No complaints, would stay again.
Close to the airport. Elegant in its own way. The rooms are a bit small.
Nothing decor very tired, noisy
close to the airport for our departure home the next day cost means to make our own coffee and tea mini refrigerator nice sized bathroom had to walk along way down a hallway to access an elevator to the 2nd floor and then had to walk back down another long hallway there was urine in the toilet in our "clean" hotel room and the TV was all ready on - it left us wondering if our room had really been cleaned no extra pillows or blankets
First off I couldn't book the room through the hotel. I was forced to book with third party online. My bathroom had flooded when I had taken a shower, due to the shower threshold. I had upgraded my room simply just looking for a king bed. The only room available was a sweet which had cost me 275.00 pounds. They only compensated me 50 pounds for a soak and wet bathroom that I had to mop up with all the towels in the room.
Slick check in, very clean and comfortable
Close to the airport The rooms was far too hot.
Close to the international airport with easy access to cheap shuttle bus service. Rooms were clean and heating/cooling easily adjusted. Staff were friendly and good with children. A good menu for kids. Rooms are very small, even for overnight stay. There is no lift so luggage must be carried up two flights of stairs which is back breaking if your traveling overseas with a large load. They claim to be 4 star which is a bit of a joke... More like 2 1/2 to 3 mainly due to the fact it is dated (looking worn), lack of lifts to upper levels and lacking 4 star facilities. WiFi was a bit dear. Most places in this pricerange where we stayed offered free WiFi.
The concierge staff were very helpful and friendly, but something need to be done for the check in and check out front liners. We checked in on 25 \nov 2010, arriving about 10 pm plus from Paris enroute to scotland, the check I staff was not very friendly. We checkd out early morning on 26 nov 2010, the check out staff was also not friendly. A simple eye contact would have been helpful for the hotel management.
It would be nice to have a proper steam iron in the room. Overall the hotel was ok but for the price, there are better out there around the area. I thought that the service of the staff was fair but I suppose they were too busy since a function was on during our stay. The room itself was very good but I would not return to the hotel.
Helpful staff willing to go out of their way to help with a problem
The hotel was everything one would expect for its class. The staff friendly helpful and efficient, the room was excellent, as was the restaurant. A minor comment: Wireless internet access should be included in the room rate as it was in other hotels of this class where we stayed on this trip.
Excellent service at check-in. Room was ideal, comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfast arrangements (room in basement) were not great.
I use the Hotel and Restraunt on a regular basis and have always found the location, food and most importantly the staff to be exemplary !
Interior decor was stunning. Surrounding area very nice
Great Vaule for £100 special Rate. High Standard of Room with Robe &Slippers. Bar Snacks delicious as well.Like being in a quiet, realxing country home.
Reception very helpful, helped us with house hunting on their computer.Hotel easy to find very quiet setting. No noise in hotel at night no doors banging or shouting very relaxing. Breakfast not really up to expectation, not fresh enough or much choice.
The hotel is set in very fine grounds and has a nice country house feel to it. It offered great value for money. The shower in my room had very little water pressure except whenit was scalding hot!
Spacious, reasonabley equipped rooms in a pleasant setting Nothing
i had a wonderfull time the staff where very pleaseant and profetional and atentive.the food was delicious the rooms where lovely the hottub amazing. it was a great weekend away i really enjoyed it
Excellent facilities and set in a good location - short drive to Marlow, Henley and surrounding area Poor service in bar Saturday evening. Worse on Sunday morning for breakfast. Waiting staff though numerous seemed disorganise dresulting in long waits and repeated ordering.
Good parking, ecluded location. Too much slate!
Was not informed that restaurant does not open on Mondays. This would have made a difference when booking.
Beautiful rooms, we stayed in the Suite which was gorgeous with a huge bath and great shower. The food was fantastic. Thoroughly recommended. Sunday morning breakfast service was slow as there was only one member of staff available.
Lovely size room lovely location, friendly staff. When checking in room was not cleaned. Central heating not working in room, no phone in room, bath did not empty.
Room and breakfast
Very small but nice/efficient spa facility, beautiful outdoor heated pool, nice room with comfortable bed, large bathroom with bathtub etc. Bathrobes and slippers provided. Since very small, steam room/sauna could get overcrowded easily. Exotic showers aren't user friendly as is the jacuzi in the pool. Bathrobes/slippers don't dry soon enough to be used again and we weren't provided clean/dry ones next day although all the other towels in the room were replaced. We had to walk through people having their dinner etc in our robes:( Restaurant was a huge rip off. Food was not worth the price and was bite-size. They serve bread themselves one at a time. So, you can't even have bread instead. Don't go there hungry. Waiters were intimidating and watching exteremely closely. We had more waiters than the food on our plate. Even so, they had a mix up -although only two tables were being served.
Very comfortable, great service, good food. Cannot use spa on departure day after you have checked out of the room.
the staff the irritating noise in the room at night due to all kinds of technical installations outside!
The evening meal taken in the Hotel restaurant was of a superb standard with attentive staff and a standard of food that was exceptional. The hotel could not decide if it was a 5 or 4 diamond establishment. Conflicting ratings were evident on different literature and information within the hotel. If it had not been for the restaurant then our stay at the hotel would have been far below the standard I would expect from an establishment that has been rated 4 diamond recommended by AA. A fact that I have recommended to the AA that they review.
Very efficient check in, friendliness of staff.
very good staff price was a bit high (eg internet access)
This is a real gem of a hotel in the centre of Maidenhead. The hotel strives to, and succeeds in, facilitating total relaxation. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay- and we will return!
Welcomed with a glass of champagne. Always greeted by name.
Location State of repair/decor. Food---terrible !!! Seemed cheap for a Marriott --now understand why.
Staff attention to detail, quality of room and location
Room is Comfortable and modern. Lobby and pub/bar very spacious and comfortable. Endless corridors and small rooms for such a huge hotel.
Close to airport, clean and upgraded rooms. Dinner was very good and the breakfast buffet was great.
Proximity to airport Ability to earn Marriott points The hotel was old and in desperate need of an update.
Big lounge, helpful front desk service. Discounted pricing relative to other hotels in the area. Outside decor and current renovations give very poor first impressions. Room was typ Marriott-type accommodations. I'd recommend spending the extra $10+ to stay elsewhere if possible, but would consider again at same price range when renovations are complete.
Location This hotel is old and not very clean. I am surprised that Marriott has let this hotel go this far in dis-repair. Not worth 200 USD a night.
Comfortable room and fast internet and ease of taking the public bus system 5 minutes to the terminal cannot be beat. Hair in the bathroom and in the tea cup suggested it did not get cleaned well, and about a 45" wait to get checked in made the stay less than ideal. Both are probably one-off issues though based upon reviews available.
What a great location. As a weary traveler it's nice when everything goes smoothly. Staff was very accommodating .
Location Service in the restaurant was very efficient and friendly We were not informed that the hotel is going through a TOTAL renovation. We were initially placed in a recently finished room. After a real ordeal to get there, we found out that our room reeked of chemicals (gave us a headache within 5 minutes and watery eyes), still had some construction debris and the bathroom door handle was not installed. Had to carry all our luggage back and had to be moved to a different room.
Location, lounge 1.the hotel could not find my kayak reservation so I am Not sure that I paid the kayak rate, in fact there is a good chance but I was charged twice and I'll have to find some way to reconcile this. For some reason the kayak reservations were not acceptable for their confirmation numbering system, the staff acted like they never seen a kayak reservation. 2.none of the hotel had internet access whatsoever it was down all night. Only one staff was manning the concierge desk and with the internet down the line was very long, yet it seems like the staff didn't put 2&2 together....perhaps you should increase the number of people at the concierge desk when the internet is down. At times the concierge would just just disappear I think probably hoping people would just disappear as well. Myself and another guest helped ourselves to the concierge desk computer print out our boarding passes for flights. 3. the entire hotel smelled like smoke despite the non smoking room. 4. the television didn't work in the hotel room and looked quite dated even at the kayak rated this hotel is not worth the money
the room was very clean staff were a little surly
Location. Nice room No hot water
Location, quality room with beautiful views Not easy access to the rooms etc
Location, good hotel staff, good restaurant Everything was worn out: old blanket, old bed cover... there were old stains everywhere, everything was almost clean, there was ancient lime in the shower...
The room was in dire need of updating and decorating. A big patched up hole in the sink and an ok shower. Other than fine and functional.
For the price good value.Bar /Restaurant area good.Staff efficient and friendly.
Convenient and pleasant setting on the river. Coffee/tea facilities in the room but hidden away in a drawer and not found immediately Parking was a problem initially
lack of A/C or at least a fan i nthe room
Hospitality good with an excellent restuarant. The exce. room we had was excellent and comfortable. This is our 3rd overnight stay in 2 years and quite comfortable with everything. Re arrangement of the fire doors (liaise with your Building Control Officer) would perhaps give narrow corridors more spacious feeling, and at worst could be linked into the fire alarm system, opening doors with luggage is difficult
location On arrival ,We had to change rooms due to the stench of stale cigarette smoke
clean, modern and comfortable
Convenient for our touring itinery.
The staff were polite, helpful, and unobtrusive. Also they were well turned out. The evening meal could have been better, however the full breakfast was excellent
It was totally fine for an overnight stay at an airport hotel. The pull out couch was actually more comfortable than the beds themselves. The air-con did not work in our room and they gave us a small fan to rectify the situation. The front desk staff was also very helpful on the phone, but never followed through with the requests we made.
The food at the restaurant was excellent - a fantastic meal.
The staff in reception is really rough, especially some guy from indian or middle east, ask the staff to let me join the novotel club for 3 times, but he did not anything and lie to me.
Good service and a decent room. Free wifi. Overall, I was there for 2 days before I left England so it served its purpose. Check in was supposed to be at 2 pm. I got there around 3:30 and still had to wait about 15 minutes before getting my key.
The staff were very good. Public areas ofthe hotel a bit tatty but the rooms excelent.
Comfortable, clean hotel. No real complaint about the hotel itself but it could be better signposted from heathrow/M4 and the junction
Location of hotel, which allowed quiet ambient atmosphere during the short stay
Location adjacent to M4 -good for connection to London but tube connection better than bus routes. High taxi fares in the locality because of this High taxi fares-charged £28 for 7 mile trip.
Extremely polite and service-oriented staff. Convenient location. Good value. Flexibility in accomodating a family of four in one room, a rarity in Europe.
