The hotel is in the village of St Remy au Provance where Van Gogh spent time in a mental institution. You can visit the hospital and see what he saw and based his painting on. there is an impressive Roman ruin nearby. The hotel staff was very helpful in downloading driving instruction for me and providing shuttler service into the town (the hotel itself is just outside the village) I believe the food service needs to improve. Breakfast is part of the plan and even though the dining room had guests the cooks never refilled the scrambled eggs chafing dish. The dinner is full of showmanship and certainly enjoyable but the cooking was not as refined as the presentation.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel relaxed, smart but not stuffy. N/A
beautiful hotel just outside the charming Provencal town of St. Remy. The rooms and grounds are well appointed. The staff professional and helpful.
Highly competent staff and excellent dinners Rooms did not offer views on the surroundings. At least some prices might be questionable: a beer 33 cl for 8 euro on the terrace in the afternoon.
We had a wonderful time at this hotel ,the staff were fantastic, they created a great sense of privacy and calm. Nothing was too much trouble. As we were staying a week we were upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise. We ate in the restaurant twice and really enjoyed it. This is a fabulous, fabulous Hotel.
Very badly lit bedrooms. Cold impersonal restaurant service. Overpriced food.
The room was very clean and the staff seemed friendly enough, the hotel itself was lovely as well. The location, it's fairly out of the way.
very nice hotel Breakfast greatly overpriced for minimal offering
Wonderful location with easy access for walking into to town
Highly overrated hotel. Perhaps the rooms booked on booking.com are of lesser quality. But, we found the room and the hotel overall to be dull and disappointing.
All the staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, especially the staff at reception, and the restaurant was of a good standard.
We absolutely loved this hotel! It has lots of Provencial charm and our room was very pretty and spacious. It is the perfect place to stay in Provence if you don't want to be with all the crowds in Avignon center. It is about a 10 minute drive to Avignon and easy access to other areas of the Luberon region. There are no restaraunts nearby so you will need a car for sure. The hotel has wonderful food but is pricey. It has a great outdoor pool, indoor pool with spa, very lush landscaping and beautiful patios. Very attentive service and wonderful personel.
The friendliness of the staff and the food was fantastic Need a map to get there!!!
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but once through the doors a large, beautiful courtyard (very well maintained) appears. Nice pool area, and well appointed spa area. Fantastic meal at the restaurant. Very friendly staff. The location is a little "off the beaten path", and you need a car to get anywhere. Overall, a little pricey (both room rate and restaurant).
Very nice and quiet! Excellent Dinner. Very friendly staff. Secure place and parking ground. Close to Avignon. Will come back...
The staff were very attentive and polite. The layout and facilities in the hotel were lovely and there was a lot of attention to detail. Lovely scented rooms.
We knew this hotel from a previous stay 10 years ago, it was nice to find out that it still matched our expectations. The restaurant as good as ever.
Relaxing, clean and friendly Too expensive by far and poor location
quiteness, close to town centre, spacious garden pool water was not heated and a bit too cold
Spa facilities, swimming pool area and the hotel grounds and decor were very nice. Staff were also very attentive. Free wifi in the bedrooms. My room was very small although I was advised of this when booking so can't complain, there are a couple like this, and based on other reviews, most rooms are larger (although this would cost extra to the 185€ we paid per night). My main issue was the cost of any extras in the hotel. Menu prices and drinks were extortionate even if it has a michelin star. Since it's a good 10 minute drive from Avignon, if you don't have a car, you have to go by Taxi, and for some reason that costed around 25€ each one way journey too, making it an expensive couple of days. Not sure if it's normal, but the taxi drivers seemed to start their meter when they were called by the hotel, so the starting tariff would range from 6.50€ to 8.50€ which isn't great.
Pleasant public areas, quiet location, friendly and helpful staff. Minimal room size (but typical in this price class).
Quiet comfort. Breakfast ok. Pool area fine. 2 star about right. Would go back again.
Staff were excellent form 1st contact. All the facilities were well maintained and comfortable. Loved the pool! Eva loved the almond trees and the fresh almonds which one of the staff showed us. The room was super. Eva would have preferred a bath to a shower.
nice place, good location
Friendly welcome. Situated close to the lovely town of St Remy de Provence, where there is a good choice of restaurants. Hotel itself in a quiet area. Comfortable spacious room with outside sitting area in the beautiful gardens. Provencal features of the building add to the calm tranquil feel of the hotel. Very good breakfast.
Very nice and warm place. Very personal services and best breakfast in France yet. No swimming pool.
Friendly, family-owned atmosphere, helpful considerate staff, simple clean rooms, decent breakfast...nice pool/cabana. Just a 5 min drive from the center of St. Remy en Provence.
What an excellent hotel. The staff are absolutely superb, ready and very willing to satisfy all requests. It is a wonderful location, near enough to the town, but very relaxaing also - being away from it all in those beautiful gardes was indeed a great pleasure.
Charming hotel in delightful setting, with attractive pool area. The internet, although only available in public areas, works quite well. The rooms have either a small balcony or a terrace .Breakfast is a good value -- lots of variety, fresh juice, etc.. Although the hotel is within walking distance to town, the immediate area is not particularly busy or well lit after dark.
no air conditioning
we enjoyed the authentic provencal chateau experience, the hotel mixed successfully the original reception rooms with modern but classic french style bedrooms and en suites. The grounds and the terraces were superb. We also enjoyed the innovative gourmet dining. Thought the breakfast a little expensive, so enjoyed our croissant and coffee in the beautiful town of St Remy.
Proactiveness. One of the front desk staff contacted us on check in night and he provided us with directions when we could not find the Chateau. This gesture was very much appreciated and the guidance proved invaluable. Not able to visit and appreciate the areas surrounding the Chateau as it was the off season. Also, would be nice if more staff are able to speak English.
the location and the architecture of the hotel (beautiful 17th century "chateau" right next to saint remy de provence) are great! Splendid park as well. Very nice and professional staff no room service and poor mini-bar
The staff, ambience, food, and the comfort was excellent. Best we have ever experience as a total package. Nothing to dislike.
Very professional staff, great nature, and the suite was comfortable.
Great service. Beautiful old Chateau. I asked to have flowers delivered for my wife's birthday and they managed to get a dozen beautiful white roses delivered even though the flower shops were closed on Mondays.
this was an outstanding property - it more than exceeded our expectations - wonderful staff - beautiful grounds, spacious room, superb food and great location for exploring the towns of Provence
We could not have been happier. Driving in to the hotel through an avenue of plane trees with the charming chateau at the end was an enchanting experience and every aspect of the stay lived up to that stunning first impression.
Stayed there our first night in Provence. We were road weary and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the hotel.
The staff, the trees, the property, the fireplace, the rose wine. Breakfast should be included in the price of the room.
Excellent location to explore Provence but be sure to have a car as it is about a 20 minute walk to St Remy. Staff were excellent and helped us plan a couple day trips. Restaurant was the best i ate at in France!
Accomodation is very complete, staff is professional. The ambiance is nice (manor and chapel). Swimming pool relatively big. The elevator in the chapel is very slow and the carpet in it has to be cleaned. But this is a minor issue.
The staffs of hotel are very nice and friendly. Dinner was excellent and especially enjoyed to see wine list which had a lot of reasonable priced bordeaux grand vin of good vintage.
Standard of hotel A1 100% top notch, as too were the staff. Fantastic location, ditto premises and attention to detail. Totally perfect in every way, could not have been better. We will return.....
The hotel is beautiful with excellent grounds. First class restaurant. The air-conditioning in our room did not work which made for a very hot night. Staff were informed but took no action.
We liked this typical atmosphere one gets in French Hotels et Chateaux, unique in the world. We also liked the central situation in the Provence, close to Avignon, very close to the highway. no complaints
Great Service and Food, very rustic and very french Air conditioning did not work very well in the room because of poor design
The service was excellent, the food was out of this world (congratulations to the chef), overall the staff was very friendly and helped regarding all our requests. Relaxed atmosphere No, we were very happy. Clients should be aware that although the rooms are very reasonably priced (semi-luxurious, I would say), the restaurant is very expensive. But it was well worth it. The food was stupendous.
perfect kitchen and stuff, nice pool and atmosphere
A charming inn rich with history. The grounds are beautiful and one of the best bathrooms we have had in France. A lovely place if money is no object, although we did get three nights for the price of two on the booking.com site. The meals were over the top expensive. We were seated in the dining room and the owner came in and told my husband he should be wearing a jacket for dinner. This embarrassing situation could have been avoided if the website had indicated their policy or strong suggestion for dress attire. Because of this, we chose not to eat subsequent meals at the hotel and dined elsewhere.
Friendly staff, cleanliness, excellent value for the cost
Room was good and breakfast was excellent No swimming pool
close to restaurants and shopping mall. The front desk counter was friendly and helpful the parking compound was dusty.
The stuff was great - very helpful, patient (even if we're unable to speak french) and fare (in the last minute we decided to stay additional night. although they could have charge us full price, the bill was discounted acording the price we gained at booking.com). The facilitiy is new. Location is very good as well (we had a car. walking to the town center would be less the 10 minutes). The biggest advantage was the value for money. We enjoyed our stay!
Delightful hosts Nothing
Extremely friendly, helpful staff, parking and excellent location.
View from window, breakfast on terrace, ease of parking, proximity to Glanum and St. Paul de Mausoles, decor of entire hotel.
Location of the hotel and confort of the room. We upgraded to an air conditioned room with a splendid terrace, so everything was really nice. We would come back if will be again in the area.
The town of St Remy is ideally suited to touring the the Provence area as well as having excellent facilities the hotel is in the perfect place. It would be nice to to have one English news channel on the TV
we started our trip in Provence here and returned after going on to Nice. the location in St, Remy was perfect and easy access to Le Baux. Found the hotel on line and was recommended by Rick Steves. It was comfortable and a good value.
staff was very helpful and the rooms were beautiful
The view from our window, the garden and the close access to the center of town. The breakfast was very good.
The location is superb from Avignon, Nimes and Arles.
We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Apilles Mountains and were within walking distance to all of St. Remy de Provence sights and shops. the staff was pleasant and helpful. The strong odor of the cleaning disinfectant permeated the room.
Excellent location, cozy clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff and an outstanding restaurant. Delicious food and beautifully presented.Next time I go to Saint Remy, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. There was nothing I did not like, I simply enjoyed my stay.
Owner is not a people person at all. But aside from his grumpiness the place was very nice in beautiful countryside. the owner
I wish we could have stayed longer, unfortunately this is one of those little jewels that allow you to sit back and relax. Great spot for day trips to all the surrounding highlights. A bit out of the way, but the peace and quiet and pool made it worthwhile.
Quiet environment, nice service, pool, nice location small rooms
Outstanding hotel and not at all a typical one. Definitely need a car to get to Avignon, so be warned if you will be travelling without transport. Fantastic pool with a simple and relaxing poolside breakfast buffet in the morning - a great way to start the day. I enjoyed that our rooms (and almost all the rooms I believe) were in separate buildings with a small table out front - and plenty of area for kids to run around and play. A great value. We'd definitely return if we needed a place to stay in the area in the future. Nothing.
we have been given a room with the pool in fron. we had breakfast by the pool. very nice experience staying in this hotel.
The restaurant is excellent also the waitresses. A very peaceful location. We love hearing the tgv trains passing by.which were very soothing. Very good parking facilities under shady trees... On arrival we had a swarm of ants in the bathroom ; through the vent. However, the receptionist delt with the infestation very swiftly, the cleaner left the remains around.
The pool is spotless and there are lots of loungers. All rooms have a little outside area and it is lovely to sit out and drink a glass of wine. The house wine is not overpriced. The rooms are tastefully decorated and everything seems really clean. there is a pleasant boules pitch. You can hear trains running by quite a lot, even at night. However this did not affect my sleeping much as the noise was a pleasant rumble and reminded me of my childhood! The associated restaurant is a bit pricey and only fair, but there is nowhere else to go. That said, we find most of the restaurants in the region over-priced so this should not trouble you too much.
The hospitality was very good and the peacefullness of the hotel was very satisfying,so was the nearby restaurant. The shower was a bit weak.
The room was comfortable with a good bathroom. No air conditioning, but that was no problem when arriving in the evening and leaving in the morning. The swimming pool was good to cool down. I felt that the restaurant was aiming to tourists, presentation is more important than taste. There is not much shade during the day around the swimming pool. The pool can not be used for a long period in the evening, night and morning.
A friendly greeting - and nothing much to follow. Was disappointing - distanced from everything - rooms dark and shower had to be held up by hand
Location, size and comfort of room.
Staff was amazing, very helpful. Cottage was so cute and fun to be in. Dinner was great and the pool was very nice.
It was a lovely setting and the staff there was very friendly/helpful.
Good well run hotel, very clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff, and good location
Very helpful and friendly staff on reception and especially the barman/waiter. I also liked the decor and furnishings of both public and private rooms. I did not use the pool but it did not look very clean and I speak as the owner of a private pool.
The environment and surroundings. The beds were not comfortable far too soft.
Nice location just outside of Arles in beautiful area by Roman Ruins. Nice staff and clean rooms
The room is roomy and quite There are not enough parking space in the evening, because used by people who drive cars to dine in the restaurant
A very charming hotel, invaluable experience, located near Van Gogh's path. Amazing scenery. Hotel located far from the bus station and the city centre.
The small garden right in front of our room
