An excellent location close to the city center with shops but also close to the channelsystem with its charming houses. This family run hotel has a staff that really cares for the guests. We forgot some items when we checked out and the manager phoned our next hotel in Amsterdam. We strongly recommend this hotel when you travel to Geithorn. This little town is a fantastic place with all pitoresque channels and houses. Really the Venice of the North. The town without roads.
Great location; friendly staff; clean and tidy; great breakfast; easy access to parking and other facilities. For our liking the mattresses were too soft, but that is a personal preference. The hotel also seemed to be a thoroughfare for tourists with no connection to the hotel.
The hotel owner was very friendly. We checked in early but still she let us in a very comforting way. The room coupled with breakfast was definately worth the money.
we liked the location No tea/coffee making facilites in the room or in the guest area
Hotel very clean, Good breakfast with excellent selection, Hotel is right on the Geithorn canal where you can rent a boat. Rest. is closed for renovation until late summer of 07. Meanwhile breakfast is served in a modular building. This is a very minor point as the breakfast and service are excellant.
Would have liked to check in earlier than 3 pm, but aside from that it was very nice. Newly remodeled inside , I think, as the rooms were nice, and the bath was great, with a tub and shower. The dining room was beautiful, with fresh flowers, and good food at a reasonable price. The decor, lovely.;the dining staff good. As for location, it is perfect, right on the canal, with boat for hire. or footpath for walking; plenty to see, with the lovely homes on islands, and resturaunts along the canal. an adventure in beauty is what i would call the town of Geethoorn. The hotel is very convienient to the attraction, which is the town. The stairs were difficult to climb with luggage to our rooms.
It is definitely a quiet, relax and romanic place. I totally got a full refresh after the short stay over there. Thumb Up!
Environment is superb.Ladies in the service were helpfull. There were severel thing noticeable: Outer space and walls surrounding the Hotel was being painted thus heavy smell covered the room. No shower curtain was available leading to water splash everywhere. No fridge in the room. A few weeks ago ownership changed and many new initiatives for refurbishment and management were underway, not necessarily to the good of guests, but I believe after a while things will turn to normal. Of course construction work and cleaning work in and around the channel, just next door, exacerbated the situation.
The rooms are too small and you can understand what your neighbours are saying to each other.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the facilities were excellent. Location was perfect for exporing the area. Dinning room food was excellent.
No hay plabras.Fantastico. Highly recommended. Giethorn is after Amsterdam the most touristic village in Netherlands (1 million per year) but is only known in Netherlands -only 20% are foreigners- so we should discover it !!!. The hotel is really great .... you can rent bicycles and electrical boats there. The rooms are very big, all new and nice. 10 over 10. No tengo ninguna.
Good service, nice Grandpa
Really friendly hotel, staff wanting to help. Boat hire gave extra incentive to stay longer. Good quality food
The owners were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and had lots of suggestions for places to visit. The meals were excellent and even a last-minute order for vegetarian food was no problem. Just a lovely place to stay. There was nothing we did not like
the staff is excellent, kind and helpful! decoration of the restaurant no
We were made welcome from the minute we entered the Hotel, everyone went out of their way to accommodate us, we were given information, maps, weather forecasts and anything we asked for. Generally this is a first class hotel with first class treatment. I would not say that I did not like the breakfast but I think their could have been a more varied selection, there was only one juice, two cereals, one yogurt and no toaster for scrambled eggs on toast!!!!
Small and simple hotel with excellent staff -- very friendly, very helpful. Fine hotel for a short stay. The breakfast was inadequate: the coffee we got served was lukewarm and the toast was old. The scrambled egg was great, even though there was very little left when we had breakfast and nothing was resupplied.
Manager was very good and the food was excellent
Was not close to any other major cities nor were places open in Giethoorn late into the day.
Welcoming staff, countyside location, swimming-pool, free coffe and fruit in the ground floor.
Very friendly staff, nice big pool
The large and well furnished room. Extra facilities such as washing machine and bicycle hire. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was poor. No choice of size and style of hire bicycles one of which needed attention.
The atmosphere is nice. It makes you feel at home. No
Surroundings, nature The restaurant, only 5 main dishes in a 4star hotel restaurant. It was too easy to choose...
Central location Having to check out at 11:30 am
Nice, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff - the breakfast was exceptionally fine! Move the flat screens closer to the beds. You may then turn the volume down which would probably be nice for the people in the next room.
the service the room and the breakfast no
First time at a B&B so I had to learn the system. Room key also opens the hotel front door. Rooms are good sized and look newly furnished. Excellent breakfast in the small dining room. Good location, can walk to shopping, restaurant area.
Quality for the price Single rooms are quite small
Well located Hote. I know that a one-person room usually is small, but this one was about the smallest I have ever seen. Breakfast was fantastisch!!!! Well done !!! Room was too small for comfort
Practical convenience, independence and excellent location. It is extremely convenient for food and general shopping, easy access to restaurants and well located for tourist/holiday activities.
Lovely hotel, attentive staff, clean, comfortable & well looked after rooms - what more could you need?
Great room, nice interior, good breakfast.
Hôtel reception, restaurant and bar are really nice. Tower rooms are a good value for money The staff was not that pleasant. I use to stay in other Van der Valk hotel with much more friendly staff!
I always like the proximity to my family that lives in the area and the friendliness of everyone, staff and others. I only wish they had better beds... Queen or King size, instead of two twin beds pushed together...
The room was splendid. Surroundigs were nice with children. Nice little village with friendly people.
When we arrived in the evening, we asked to have dinner. Even if it was a bit late 21:30, it was still possible to eat. But the waiters told us that it was not possible to have dinner in the restaurant so the served us dinner at the bar which was not very comfortable.
Excellent staff service
spacious, clean family room. nice bathroom. Good restaurant. Beds not comfortable (mattresses too soft). Hotel staff not professional, not helpful. At reception staff could not understand and was not able to answer questions (in english) like "do you serve breakfast a la carte?", or "can you recommend a nice bike trail nearby?". Children room not safe, too many furniture sharp edges, beware of in-room accidents. Parking-facing rooms are noisy and not offer value for money if you're seeking quiete coutryside holiday. WiFi extremely slow (couldn't use VoIP or streaming video) and very expensive.
excellent service very clean and tidy no complains at all
nice and new hotel breakfast for our 7 years old child for 1O,5O it is a lot of
Room was not airconditioned and the window could not open. We had to open the door leading onto a communal balcony as it was just too warm. Also traffic in the corridors could easily be heard.
Great breakfast, nice large rooms, quiet although we were at the rear of the hotel. Helpful staff.. Dinner was abit expensive..
I really enjoyed the standing of the hotel (for instance, the fitness room and the sauna). And also the ground floor which is really lovely and nice. We felt almost like home. The blankets were not perfectly clean.
Very clean, well located, a good value for money, the restaurant of a very good level. not very nice smell around, not really much to do around.
Comforatble bed. Directions to the hotel given by the receptionist were not clear at all,and this should be improved.
Enormous room with fantastic views The large shrimp I ordered in the restaurant were completely overcooked and tasteless. But the service was excellent
nice hotel. Good breakfast We asked about an extra bed, but it was denied. I cannot see why this was impossible.
Quiet Equipment under repairment. Should be quoted on booking.com
the facilities are great, the room was nice and the bathroom is really good, the breackfast is really good and the restaurant for dinner is very good.
Remote location - situated in the polder (an area of reclaimed land from the sea) - therefore nights are very quiet (and dark outside the hotel grounds !) Had to pay for WiFi - these days that should be free, considering the low cost to the hotel. (they have a high speed glass-fibre connection like most hotel establishments and many houses in the cities now)
What we like best about staying at Huis Ten Wolde was the friendly family who own and run the place, the delicious meals in the restaurant on the premises and the absolute cleanliness of the room. We would stay again when in town! Lovely view from the room which was in the back of the hotel, top floor. No, not really!
The hotel is designed as modern farm house, which feels great. Lovely library. Located in the countryside, the hotel is quiet & it's fun walking in the area. It would be nice to have a kettle in the room. The restuarant is very pricey, hardly a variety for vegeterians. Since it's remote - there are no real options to dine out.
The 3* star hotel tried to provide 5* service. For example, change fronk-desk check-in with welcome coffee. Room is spacious with good furniture. Food (breakfast and dinner) is normal and overpriced. Curtains in both bedroom and bathroom are full of dust. The room we stayed is a cottage which is isolated in the yard.
Service was good. Food delicious. Booking.com stated free wlan. Is only available in the restaurant and is not for free. The hotel explained it very politely and gave a voucher for 50 minutes. Is ok but not what was expected....
Good location, friendly staff, free wifi and very good food Food was a bit expensive
Nice and cosy little hotel with a warm welcome. Unfortunately I came a wednesday were apparantly services and restaurant are closed, so not possible to eat there, nor getting an iron as requested. However they did prevent me in the morning about the closed restaurant, allowing me to simply dine on my way to the hotel. A water boiler with coffee/tea and some biscuits in the room would have been nice.
the room was very clean and the beds where great, the dining places outside as well as inside where very atmospheric beds where separated
Lovely surroundings and friendly staff
excellent food i would like the room to have been a little warmer
I like the comfort of the bed. And the toiletries in the bathroom. I like the good breakfast and proximity to the city center/shopping. Its not a value for money hotel.
Just convenient for me to visit family in town. The cafe and terrace is quite ambient but the hotel itself needs a good overhaul stairs and lift could do with an upgrade. Generally looking tired.
The room was spacious and clean, the service was outstanding. The lift was obviously not modernized with the rest of the hotel, but it had a minimal impact on our experience.
Friendly hotel staff, good standard of rooms. Local market was held in front of the hotel on the Thursday morning.
The good location for business purposes in the neighbourhood.Excellent beakfast
Great Rooms. Very good staff The lift
Kindly staff. Good after dinner cafe' in the hall.
Easy location for family visit needs refurb, such as the lift.
the staff were very helpful and the room they gave us was excellent......the food service and bar service was first class. all was OK !!!!!!!!
Nice site, good breakfast
The hotel staffs were so kind and helpful. It was on Sunday and was very difficult to get a taxi or bus to go to Schokland. But they arranged a private tax for me. Finally, I could visit Schokland in addition to Kampen, which are very historical and interesting places. The room was on the river side and I really enjoyed a fantastic view from big windows. The breakfast was well prepared and was tasty. I spent a lovely time with Hotel van Dijk in Kampen
Nice rooms, restaurant good and not too pricy. Breakfast not bad but could be upgraded
Friendliness of staf and food quality. Room also very comfortable.
Excellent personal service. Big breakfast. Excellent food. Rooms light clean and airy. A lovely place for a break or just to stay.
The free internet connection was superb! The surroundings was nice.
Modern room. Friendly staff. Good internet connection - cable supplied by hotel. Good size room with large balcony - would be pleasant in warm weather. Breakfast was ok but the coffee was cold. Poor lighting in the room. No extra pillows in the room.
The countryside environment
Friendly, attentive staff.
Homely friendly - good location, food and beer!
The rooms are new (not sure if all rooms are) so this adds to the feel of luxury. The bathroom was beautiful and very very clean... I felt reborn after showering here, it felt like a spa. A designer must have chosen the bathroom design, tiles etc. Simple, new, decent, and magnificent. The beds are fantastic, the pillows are the nicest ones you can have. Breakfast buffet is simple, but there's enough choice and was very good. The coffee is very good. Loved the stay even if it was only one night.
A superb friendly hotel with very friendly locals bar and restaurant. really made to feel welcome.
Great area and good people did not have double beds
Wifi internet connerction was deplorable
Very convenient to a stay in the town of Steenwijk. Most guests will arrive by car, but it's only a 15 min. walk from the train station and 20 min. walk to/from the town center. Try to set time aside for that most Dutch activity: biking!! Easy and cheap to rent a bike at the train station. There's a forest to the North, heathery landscape to the East and unique Giethoorn with it's wetlands and small lakes to the south. All roads/trails well marked, icecream, snackbar, cute eating places everywhere.
very comfortable and relaxing no
All staff were very friendly and accommodating safe did not work
Checking out by 10:30am was inconvenient. All other hotels allow you to check out by 12am.
the garden no
Kindness of people and good ratio quality/price The wrong communication between web channels and the hotel.
friendly and helpfull staff- large, clean rooms with a desk-good breakfast-good bed an TV-free internet-good value for money. the signal of the free internet is not always stable or strong enough.
good all round experiance
Nice staff, to soft beds ,
Pleasant surroundings. Good location. Good sized rooms.
The homy athmosfare.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful they made the checkin easy and accomadated us in the restaurant at short notice, breakfast had a good selection and the hotel rooms were very clean. An ideal short stay hotel
Large room well situated to town
Level of service was very good through attentive and very helpful people. Bedroom decore was modest.
I was only at the hotel at night, and it was very quiet
Very clean, staff really helpful especially the blonde girl when we arrived (sorry don't know her name). The food was not only good value the quality was excellent. None all positive
it isn't a hotel but a kind of a hospital...
the kitchen closed at 8.30 so you were unable to have any food after this time. The staff were v helpful and allowed us to eat a take away in the bar. Te rooms were ex retirement homes so ours had a shower seat in it and there were pull bars everywhere. i think this should be made clearer, my daughter room was next to some one that was in the home as the doors and lifts were dual access, she would not sleep in the room on her own as the " old" people creeped her out as she cold hear someone coughing, it was so loud we had to put the tv on all night to try and drown it it. the residents ate in the restaurant with their friends and family so it felt like we were staying in a care home not a hotel was v strange. on a plus point the beds were
