Lisieux is an excellent middle point to visit Normandy- D day beaches, Mt Saint Michel, etc. The Best Western is in the center of this very cute little town and has excellent service and rooms. We loved the three nights we spent there.
We had a lovely light and spacious family room with a large bathroom with bath and shower. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, quite noisy at night and warm as it is not air conditioned
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was quiet. Comfortable. Nicely decorated. No facilities for making drinks (we British love our tea!)
Very good overnight stay during our journey south west, 2 rooms booked for mine and my friends family, all 8 of us pleased.
Location, good quality-price relationship Problem with wireless in the room (I had to go to connect to reception), a little bit old fashioned hotel not luxurious but right and clean for the price paid. Good service at reception desk
Very central location with plenty of parking space across the road from the hotel Bedroom could do with a bit of redecoration / modernisation
Close to city centre Rooms in need of updating
grande chambre. very agreeable with not expensive price
Extremely good central location in Lisieux. Good sized comfortable rooms and decent facilities. Breakfast was varied and would cater to all tastes.
Good facilities, pool, spacious reception, clean, easy check in. Rooms OK but a little basic.
Easily located from the motorway. The facilities are excellent and its lacation next to a really nice restraunt an added bonus. I and my friends would be very happy to recommend it to others needing overnight accommodation or a longer stay.
Is clean and tidy with a fresh look
Only stayed one night on en route to South West France. Ideal stop over hotel, rooms clean and breakfast good value!
Welcoming, efficient and friendly
Often use this hotel as it is ideally located for a stop-over en route to other parts of France. Good restaurant next door. Staff always very friendly and helpful.
Ease of access from motorway and the room was quiet. The staff were friendly The wifi system was hopeless - they need to replace it
Weekend reception staff rather indifferent.
Very convenient stop off for travelling from UK to South France
The lakeside location was good but too far to walk in to Pont Eveque for a meal. The room was rather small and the outside of the hotel needs a good tidy up. It seemed a rather tired place and was not as good value for money as our following night at the Hotel Robic, Pontivy.
the lake so close and nice....
The breakfast lounge No elevator - Need to hand carry the luggage to 2nd floor.
Good quiet location. The price of the room was quoted at 55 Euro. However because our reservation was through Booking .com for 66 Euro we had to pay this price. Not a good advertisement for your service as it would be better to make a direct reservation
Good location - excellent restaurant - efficient service n/a
Good evening meal. Polite and friendly staff Slow check in as only one lady at busy bar when we arrived at 8pm Room hot and too many insects to leave windows open - insect mesh blinds would be great.
Room had pleasant views of the lake. Quality holesome food that was good value. Room a little tired with some mould in bathroom around shower. SAT TV only had French channels! Could be made more cheerful with pictures etc.
The quit and simple style no
Existence of lake at the back of the hotel and of a diving cormorant at the lake
I arrived very late 5am the next morning but the key and full instructions had been left as arranged by phone earlier
Restaurant very good, though wine was a little expensive for what was offered. Reception staff very obliging. Cleaning staff courteous and did a very good job. Room was tired and shower did not work properly, there were better rooms in the hotel and I would have preferred this option when booking. Hotel was unable to offer a better room on arrival because it was full.
The efficiency and friendliness of the staff no
wonderful staff, great location for St. Therese sites
the staff were competent and friendly. it was very central to all the sites
Hotel meal was very good and staff were friendly and helpful No bad points really
Excellent Value for money
Breakfast and dinner were good value. The hotel turned out to be on the wrong side of Lisieux for the business my son and I had in Normandy (clearing a house we had sold). So we only stayed one night. It's not the kind of place I would have chosen in other circumstances (like a Travelodge with better food) but the above is the sole reason for moving on.
very small room, when opening the third bed impossible to get to the bathroom, very unfriendly staff, actually a B&B on the highway for a night's stop over. Maybe acceptable for business travellers
Good overnight accomodation. More of a motel.
Clean.Good basic facilities.Quiet. Easy parking. Pleasant restaurant with good simple food.Good to use enroute.
Convienient stopover useful to have restuarant on site food not too bad but not what you would get in local restuarant hotel next door considerably cheaper not much less standard. Staff could smile a little more
Usual Campanile quality, style, value and helpfulness Hotel has an automated check-in system, which meant that guests were arriving right through the night. Woken at 01:15 with loud bangs and then suffered a constant arrival of people through to 03:30, the rattle of each diesel engine and flurry of slammed doors heralding yet another arrival. Not pleasant. This is a larger (3-storey) building and it's a terrible sound box, easily transmitting noises between rooms. If you want to hear people coming and (quite literally!) going all night, then stay here and enjoy the experience! Never again will we use this hotel, and we will avoid others that have an automated 24-hours check-in system (look for the green kiosk that looks like a cashpoint, next to the main entrance). This is a shame, as the rest of the hotel was good and the staff very helpful.
We stayed here because we had a car and did not want to have to negotiate the streets of the city and also find a place to park. It was in a perfect location for day trips to various spots in the countryside, which is what we did every day. It was very convenient to all the major roads of the region.
Being able to book in anytime, clean room and good shower.
Parking outside the room. Although just a plastic foam matress, the bed was surprisingly comfortable. Would have liked bacon and eggs for breakfast, or at least some meat products, like ham, for example. A DVD player would be an advantage to those guests who don't understand French as there are no english programs to watch on TV and, in any case, the TV reception was very poor quality. If you then rented DVDs for the night, you could make a bit more profit, perhaps? Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would be appreciated, as supplied in the UK.
The room was well designed and comfortable Our shower leaked so there was a pool of water in the en suite when we arrived. Perhaps this should have been noted before and dealt with although this didn't spoil our stay in spite of wet feet!
Pass Old fashioned and shabby. Collections of old radios in every corner don't seem to have been dusted for a long time.
Clean and comfortable, pleasant staff, relaxed atmosphere, country location although train line and main road very close.
easy tofind, very helpful and pleasant receptionist, clean and comfortable. probably the best edge of town-overnight stay-budget chain-hotel we have stopped in and the town of Orbec is very old, very nice a delight to wander around and we found it very reasonably priced we will definately go back but it will have to be two nights next time. nothing we did not like about this hotel
great value, nice English speaking staff . Ok breakfast . Hard to find. Near the roundabout on the way out of town. near carrefour petrol station
Clean, modern hotel in quiet location Beds very hard, no coffee-making facilities, room quite small and basic
friendly service, clean and quiet room, very reasonable price
Acces Breakfast was not always with fresh bread
We chose the hotel because we ha stayed there about 25 years ago on the return leg of a touring hoiliday.....we had called in just by chance and rooms were available............so we decideded to give it another try! The layout and the duplex rooms were fantastic.....very clean and fresh and incredible value......the staff were supurb........thanks very much. No..........but I think that it might be nice to have a fridge in lounge area.
Upstairs rooms are duplex style with narrow staricase to sleeping area so could be a problem for some.
Excellent room, modern facilities, all very clean and warm. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Towels were very small.
Central Hotel with nice clean rooms. Good space for a short stay in this area. The room we had was nice but for small children a sofa bed was adequate but took up all of the downstairs area. This meant an in-out arrangement if we wanted to spend time in our room. No drinks making facilities if we were inside our rooms.
Very clean and tidy. Very spacious room. Great restaurant.
Charming building and rooms, great breakfast, helpful friendly staff. Good combination of style and efficiency. Very happy to recommend Only minor niggles - didn't have a cot available, bins too small if you have nappies to throw!
Very attractive room where a very good breakfast was served. Bedroom upstairs from toilet and bathroom. Car park surface unsuitable for motorcycles. Sitting area immediately outside window, frequently occupied by cleaning staff smoking.
We booked a duplex room for a family of 5. The room was exactly as described - double bed upstairs plus single folding bed. Double sofa-bed downstairs. The hotel was beautifullt refurbished and in a convenient location - short walk to town and short drive to Deauville, Trouville, etc. Breakfast was offered at 12 euros per head - but there are two boulangeries across the road.
Split level was interesting (lounge and facilities on first level and bed on second), bed was very comfortable, good location. Very friendly helpful bilingual staff. Lavatory did not have a wash basin (it was in a separate room)!
Very pleasant experience on all counts. Internet access was gratuit. Parking was secure. property was quiet. Lobby charming. Staff spoke english well which was a huge relief on our first night in france afetr travelling for 24 straight hours.
The booking in was very easy I would have liked a kettle for tea and coffee in the room to have made it more comfortable.
Easy access during the day, and reasonable prices. A little difficult to find for the first time. No nothing.
Easy to check in/out. Fairly calm and quite. A bit far from city centre and good restaurants.
Perfect matc price/quality. You have fast internet, a good TV and all necessary basic tools you need for basic sleeping. Do not expect any luxury, rooms are small, bathroom is in plastic, beds are not too comfortable, coffee to be taken from a machine. Do not take the breakfast in the hotel but go to Leclerc just outside the hotel for a fresh and cheap breakfast
Interconnecting room was priceless as was the breakfast option. Location is outstanding for visiting Lisieux
Excellent hotel and staff. Wifi would not work until the television in the room was switched off and unplugged. Hotel was full, and breakfast area too small staff struggled to cope, and we had to wait for a table.
The rooms were clean and the price was great. A great location with restaurants and stores nearby.
Clean room, easy access from main roads.
Once in Lisieux it was easy to find the hotel which is on the Paris Road behind the town's McDonald's. It is also beside a large Le Clerc supermarket where you can get a three course lunch and free water for under six Euros. It is easy to access St. Therese de Lisieux's family home and Carmel Convent from here by car. The gentleman at the front had worked in Dublin for two years and was very helpful. We had a nice stay in the hotel and in Lisieux. There was good parking outside and it is only two and a half hours away (by car) from Cherbourg port.
The price was very good and the hotel offered free internet facilities and a simplistic approach to entering and exiting the hotel. There was almost no need for any staff.
Tranquile atmosphere No airconditioning
Peaceful country setting with relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful.
This was an experience staying on a stud farm. The hotel has many features and is the epitamy of good living. In the countryside - you had access to wonderful walks, there was also a duck pond with a whole spectrum of wildlife in it- including a duck house. A lot of thought had gone into getting the detail of the hotel just right. Food exceptional. Hotel does not serve food on a wednesday and you are left to your own devises in the middle of countryside. Bar not open either. Having washed her hair my wife found the hairdryer not working on going to reception she was told there was no-one available to fix it - with a gaullic shrug.
staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. No iron available in the room.
Great food, super service, we've ordered the junior suite and got the suite so a nice bonus
We liked the location, once we had found it, the room was very comfortable and the gardens were very pleasant to wander around. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and polite. We did find the hotel difficult to find without GPS locator, and the address was not too helpful. Also we were disappointed with no English TV channels although Sky TV was advertised they were all foreign to us.
Excellent food and service. Would thoroughly recommend it and will go back for a weekend instead of just overnight.
lovely environment. very comfortable and relaxing. quality of food in both evening and breakfast was very high.over all really liked it. a bit difficult to find...
Beautiful setting, wonderful views from room, well, and tastefully, furnished No evening restauant facilities, no kettle in room,
Staff was very helpful and kind. Without asking we were upgraded to a better room for the same price. The hotel used to have a magnificent restaurant. This was the main reason to go back to this hotel. But the owner decided to close the restaurant to cut costs. As a result you have to go back into your car and drive to some restaurant in the neighbourhood if you want anything to eat. We were very dissapointed about this.
It was only a stoppover but was in a good position for parking and a good choice of eating out nearby. Breakfast was excellent best croissants of the holiday!! No
Very comfortable, benefitting from a town centre location. the staff were very friendly and made you very welcome. The market on saturday morning made it awkward to depart.
Location, free private car parking The room was fine, but maybe in need of a freshen up
wifi access / off street parking cleanliness in general was poor / no tea making facilities / room was just basic box with bed and tv / hotel was dirty and unkept / no warning ref: street market blocking you in on saturday morning / staff spoke no english /
staff attitude, original paintings, close to shops etc Willing to listen to comments to improve service.Very friendly. limited parking space, we had a small modern bath in one room this time, next time prefer shower.don't know about rest of rooms.
Locality close to shops etc. Bed a little uncomfortable and sleeping on mattress waterproof protector.
A perfectly adequate inexpensive room. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast. Bare walls - no bedhead - needed another pillow or two.
Is was basic but ok for a short stay The rooms all smelt quite strongly of cigarettes. Opening the windows in the children room was a problem as there was a lot of noise from cars. We ask to be close to the children but were at the opposite end of the corridor.
Staff/owners were very friendly and the dog was not charged for. Room was short on comfort but the price was reasonable.
The hotel was situated in the heart of a beautiful town, with easy parking. Fairly clean, comfortable beds. Extractor fan of Chinese restaurant outside window; blankets old & a bit dusty; shower scruffy and pooled; no drinks available in hotel.
The facilities are decent, if a bit bland. The hotel's restaurant is excellent. The bathrooms are equiped with 110 and 220 volt outlets which was very useful. The hotel is located on the edge of town in the industrial area. It is not convenient without a car and the neighborhood precludes any type of ambience. The cleaning staff does a very average job of servicing the rooms each day. The rooms do not look fresh when you walk in. Also, WiFi is available but not free while other hotels in this chain offer free WiFi.
Location was excellent The 5 am morning call that we did not request or require
We were using the Hotel as an overnight stop on our way south and for these purposes it was fine. The booking and checking in process was very effcient and your staff were friendly and helpful. The meal in the restauarnt was very pleasant.
meals and informality in dinning area level of door closing noise late evening, could have been cupboards being slammed not closed too.
This is a pleasant hotel on the outskirts of Lisieux and is very efficiently run. My room had a skylight window which did not open. There was no air conditioning, but there was a large fan which did help.
The staff were wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. When we could not get a taxi home on one of the evenings a staff member came to collect us. I would certainly recommend the hotel.
Countryside lovely. Convenient parking. Pleasant(ish) staff. Shower did not work - the "switch" to shower kept reversing. Bath absolutely tiny and impossible to lie in and soak. Because shower not working I tried to wash hair in bath but almost impossible to submerge in such an absolutely tiny bath - more like a basin than a bath. No hairdryer. Very expensive menu. Window in room too high to look out of. Felt claustrophobic.
A very comprehensive breakfast and attentive staff, did not eat dinner in the reasturant but judging from the breakfast, and the people coming to the hotel to eat I have no doubt it would have been exceptional. Was led to believe there was a garden over looking stream this was not so, but could have very easily been achieved , instead the bins had the best view
we had been there last year and wanted to go back with friends; we enjoyed the surroundings and it's like being home in the hotel there were works going on, but it did not really disturb our stay; it's kind of dark inside; last time it was summer and we could stay on the terrace
Ideal location for an overnight stay enroute to destination in Maine et Loire, good standard of room, nice decoration and cleanliness. Staff pleasant and efficient.Good for acess to local town and restaurants, nice shops. Will definitely use it again Rooom quite small, so good for one or two nights only, bathroom toilet facility also quite small.Window at front opened on to corridor so difficult to leave open, rear window looked on to back view of hotel, not attractive.
Very good breakfast. Good access to the town and to through routes whilst, at the same time, quiet location with good parking. Good as an overnight stop on the way to and from Channel ports. Just round the corner from famous Calvados producer with free guided visits and tastings. 'Interesting' room arrangement resulting from the incorporation of en-suite facilities into what had been a not terribly big bedroom originally.
Friendly staff, family rooms, clean, good value, restaurant on site
Good for an overnight stop, very basic, but clean, friendly, quiet, nice local village with a couple of decent restaurants. Breakfast was 24 euros for a family of four, which really bumps up the cost of the hotel.
Room clean and a good size for a quad. Arrived late but staff helpful. Good journey stopover point with ample parking. A little off the motorway but well signposted.
The location of the hotel close to the village, the size of the room and le petit dejeuner all made it a welcome break in our journey between the Dordogne and Calais.
When we were eventually able to book in, we found the room booked for us to be quite acceptable. The resturant provided us with a very good standard of food which was well presented and typically 'French' (good!).A good place for a one-night stop-over. We were advised that our rooms would be available from 12.30. However when we arrived at 15.45 we found the hotel locked and seemingly deserted. Eventually at 16.30 'management' arrived and we were able to book in. Fortunately the weather was good, so we sat in the rather unkempt garden and waited.
Easy to find, convenient, lots of parking, value for money and extremely welcoming hostess Restaurant closed on a Friday evening which was a little inconvenient on a transit stay - but good food was to be found in the village a couple of minutes drive away.
The Villa Les Vikings is located in a beautiful small village named Pont l'Evêque wich is very famous for its cheese. We had the worst stay ever, and the worst welcome of our life. Indeed, from the beginning, the owner made us fell that we disturb. So, the owners we make us understand that you should not speak in the Room during the night; by knocking in the wall and phoning us in 2 a.m. This disastrous stay continued as it till the end because the owners did not want to let us leave further to our dissatisfaction at the risk of charging us the totality of the stay in case of early departure. So,at the time of the check out they held us as hostage with a closed gate(portal) and with the call of the police accusing us of bad payer, a shame!
