There was a slight issue with our room, but the owner came with the perfect solution. This Riad is probably one of, if not the best in Marrakech. We arrived late in the evening, but were flawlessly greeted by a driver and welcomed into the Riad by our super friendly night receptionist Sharaf. We got lots of tips for things to see and visit. The Riad is conveniently located in the old town of Marrakech, so discovering the city is very easy. If u want to do excursions outside of Marrakech, they offer a wide range of trips which u can book a day in advance and they will pick u up at the Riad. Hafsa and Sharaf made sure that we had a wonderful stay in Dar El Calame. We always felt right at home after a full day of exploring. This review might come out sounding overly positive, but that is just because we cannot find fault with our stay here. We would definitely recommend a stay here to visit Marrakech. Charlotte & Pieter
Our stay would have been perfect if it wasn't for one incident. The night auditor / receptionist knocked on our door asking us when were we going to pay for the stay. As he made himself inside our room and got a glimpse of our money on top of the table, he promptly asked us to pay at that exact moment. On top of this was the fact that the conversion "euro to dirham" wasn't made fairly. We were connected with the online converter, showing us a different amount, and still he argued that in Morocco the rate was different. We felt pushed and our privacy was transgressed. Other than that, everything was beautiful and pleasant.
We‘ve been upgraded to a bigger room without upcharge. Breakfast was good and has even been arranged for us when we had to leave early in the morning.
Cash payment at checkout. Not sure if I simply overread it in description. If not it would be great to be informed about it before the actual travel. Would reccomend to pay the price in EUR.
the tall guy who worked at the Riad was very friendly. it is a proper Riad in the medina with a beautiful garden in the middle and nice relaxing area at the top of the building. the breakfast was very minimal, however it was homemade from the guys who work there. the room was decent giving you the feeling of the riad.
lets start with the parking and our check in. we arrived quite late and we had already been given a number to contact in order to arrange the parking and go to the Riad. unfortunately, the phone was off, the number on Google takes you to a guy to Brussels who is unable to help you (he actually hanged off the phone to me), there is no any label to show you where the Riad is and we finally managed to find a random guy to help us park the car paying almost 20 pounds, and then he took us to the Riad and we paid him 20 pounds more. the girl at the Riad speaks no English. only French. so, we had no choice but paying him or going back to the airport. it was quite frightening being on your own in Medina 2 o clock in the morning. the room was just ok. no privacy at all. however it is a proper Riad's room and it gives you this feeling of Marrakech. they don't accept payments by cards. only cash. it is located in the Medina (very close to the souk, however it is just outside of the touristic area and you feel bit exposed and not safe. during the evening, I would avoid walking around to the Riad.
The room was fantastic! Charaf was wonderful; Hafsa was wonderful. They were both very friendly and personally cared about making our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I felt as if we were friends, not just hotel guests.
We needed more protein for breakfast, but asked for eggs and received eggs!
