We loved the host - Medji! He was very accommodating and happy to talk to us about any questions we had. He made us feel at home. :)
The location meant that we sometimes felt unsafe. We were approached twice by people offering to show us where the Riad was, who consequently asked us for money in a very aggressive manner. We did not feel safe. The fact that the bathroom did not having a door was not ideal, as we were traveling as friends.
Our host Yusuf was really great and friendly :) The breakfast was typical Moroccan (marmalade with different types of bread, crepes etc.) A huge chill zone is on the top of the accommodation. Location was really great, and near to the old town.
Although the accommodates offered us the taxi ride, we decided to book another one (couple of euros cheaper) who took us to the walking zone and said to a guy to take us to the hotel. It turned out that it was another hotel with a similar name xD Then an adventure of 4 young people took place, rooming through small streets, getting lost with people staring, laughing and saying something. In the end we found it. It was pretty stressful having the fact that there is no sign on the door of the accommodation! To conclude take the taxi they offer :)
we didn’t have any money when we got to the riad and he said it wasn’t very safe to go out in the dark so he ordered us food and we paid him the next day.
The address off the riad sends you 45mins away from the actual location. Every tuk-tuk found the address confusing. Considering how hard it was to find, both phone numbers would ring but would never be answered. 2 out of 3 nights we were followed home and then they had claimed to of showed us the way and demanded money off of us. One young man even got in front of our riad door demanding 200 dirhams to let us in. We rang the bell to which the owner came and said and did absolutely nothing. The man threatened me saying he had a weapon and after he snatched money out of my girlfriend’s hand and ran off the man friend who stayed had a nice long chat with my riad owner instead of the owner coming to see if we were ok.
I loved staying here because Youseff made sure I really felt at home. The breakfast was amazing as well! I enjoyed the terrace on the roof and the room was really big and comfortable. Yousseff also arranged my shuttle to and from the airport for me and an excursion to Essaouria! He is the most hospitable person ever :)
The location was a bit difficult to find - had it not been for Yousseff coming to get me at the entrance I would have never found it on my own. It is a maze within a maze, really. Once you really memorize the route you get there pretty fast, it took me a few failed attempts though.
I couldn’t ask for a better Riad or a better host like on the Riad dar Lilas. Me and my friends arrived at 1:30 in the morning because our flight got delayed and still we were welcomed by Youssef very well. The room was very clean and got serviced every day and the breakfast was really good. There’s a nice rooftop area to chill out and small but really nice pool to refresh yourself when too hot. Loved it
The only downfall is that there’s no shower curtain in the shower but that’s everywhere in Morocco. They just don’t use it.
