Pros: The Auberge is an old building in a peaceful location a mile from the town of Massiac. Cederic and Audrey were absolutely lovely people, the food was very good and the room was ideal for us and our dog. We would certainly go back there again if we were in the area, it was an ideal stopover for us while travelling through France.
Pros: Very friendly, great home cooked dinner after long drive was very welcoming.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hosts.
Cons: Fortunately the temperature had dropped but the room was still very warm. Basic breakfast.
Pros: Perfect hosts who were very attentive to all our needs. The evening meal was superb and the breakfast was excellent. If the weather had been a warmer we would have taken advantage of the lovely out door swimming pool. I would certainly consider staying here again.
Pros: Location was lovely with great views
Cons: We didn’t pre book an evening meal and there was no room when we got there. It meant we had to drive into town for a restaurant. This was our fault though!
Pros: As expected the owners were kind and friendly. We stayed here last year on route back from Spain and would definitely recommend to others. Clean, fresh and with great views it's hard not to love this place. The worse part was we had to leave.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
Pros: This is a lovely, relaxing place, and Audrey and Cedric are excellent hosts. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and both dinner and breakfast in their pretty dining room were delicious. Drinks outside admiring the view were a real treat.
Pros: We loved the ambiance, the buildings, the land and most of all the dedication of the owners to provide a wonderful experience.
Pros: The hosts are lovely as was our overnight stay. We will be back another time to stay longer.
With a stay at La Maison des Chats in Saint-Mary-le-Plain, you'll be 10.7 mi (17.2 km) from Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park and 31.6 mi (50.9 km) from Le Lioran. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent location in a small rural village but close to the motorway,a really rural French feeling to the whole experience, amazing food and stunning olde world furniture. Madam speaks some English and communication was little problem.
Cons: Difficult to locate no sign on the house, luckily the owner spotted me drifting around the village
Pros: The wonderful cheeses and very tasty butter at breakfast, the charm and friendliness of the hostess and host, and the beautifully rural location
Cons: the cooking and the terrible undrinkable wine served with the supper
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, slightly different from standard French petit dejeuner, with fresh baked cakes each morning. Christine and her husband were very welcoming and helpful, and the evening meals that we had with them were very good. The situation of Maison des Chats is well off the beaten track, but was great for us as there were some randonees which started from the village, so we did not need to use our car.
Cons: We did have a private bathroom, but it was not en-suite.
Pros: Lovely woman who runs and owns the house. Marvellous food, traditional local meals with wine ,very good value. Great breakfast and only 7 euros pp
Pros: The hosts were great, the house was warm, the bed was a wonder of comfort and warmth, the shower looked good, the breakfast was excellent, the 5-course dinner, with wine, we had was brilliant - it was lovely to be offered a cup of tea or coffee or a beer on arrival. Christine has several interesting knickknacks and her furniture is to be admired There are great walks around - the village is a historical gem – this is a great placed to stay for the countryside, the ambiance, for either winter or I should think summer. If you can get a room here you are in for a treat.
Cons: If I had to be pickky - nope even the bells in the early morning sounded good.
Cons: Fantastic people
Pros: Extremely friendly and hospitable hosts, comfortable room.
Cons: A little off the beaten track, slightly tricky to find, but no big deal.
Pros: We were received with a very warm welcome , after a long car ride that was great. The log fire was made it all so cosy as the evening meal we ordered was served. Even though it was only us eating the owners had made a great effort in making it a memorable meal.
Cons: We didn’t find anything to criticise or feel the lack of
Located in Saint-Beauzire, Hôtel Le Baudière is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of Lace Museum and Aquarium of Brioude. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It is on the side of a road, not much to walk to around but it is definitely good for overnight stop on way south. Restaurant attached to hotel for evening meal, so very easy.
Cons: We chose the place because it had a pool for the kids to have quick play before dinner. It was okay but very cold and full of flies, had to be a few days of flies. Airco in room did not work so it was very hot and stuffy. When I tried to explain it to the manager in the morning he told me I must be doing it wrong. My husband had to go up and show him. He then said another guest must have changed the inside of the remote (which was taped together). No apology.
Pros: Room, Bed and bathroom were perfect. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.
Pros: The food and the service were exceptional I highly recommend it.
Pros: This hotel is an excellent quiet well-appointed stopover destination, if travelling from ferry or Eurotunnel to the west Mediterranean coast. It has a very good restaurant with a wide choice ( from typical high quality French cuisine to pizzas for children or adults!) and a good wine list. There are pleasant country walks or cycle rides in close proximity
Cons: No drawbacks found, if a quiet stopover is the aim, but it is some way from a small town if you did not want to eat at the restaurant.
Pros: Pool and restaurant
Cons: Very thin towels.Absence if staff.Very poor and irregular WiFi in room.TV did not work
Pros: Good beds, clean bathroom, and a very good adjoining restaurant.
Cons: View from window.
Pros: All good
Pros: This was an excellent hotel, and very convenient for an overnight stay. Large parking area outside and easy access from the main road. Fairly quite country location. The bonus is there is a fantastic restaurant with a great selection of food (adults and kids) and a nice wine list all for a fair price.
Cons: The room was rather small, but for the price was fair.
When you stay at Hotel La Bougnate in Blesle, you'll be 11 minutes by car from Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park.
Pros: Beautiful location Great restaurant
Cons: Staff were very busy when we arrived
Pros: The owner/host is simply fantastic. Very welcoming. He seemed to Do everything-check us in, serve drinks, préside over cooking. The restaurant was romantic and delicious. The breakfast was wonderful
Pros: Village. food . staff. and nice outside sitting area with a nice pint .all great thanks
Cons: Lovely little village warm wellcome at hotel food lush worth.poping in if you are travelling by.
Pros: Great hotel ("auberge" in French) in the center of a lovely medieval village. Nice staff, with engaged owner who worked at Le Notre. Restaurant is in the Michelin guide: simple, high quality menu with local ingredients; rich and varied set of wines including affordable yet wisely selected wines.
Cons: The breakfast is a bit basic and it should therefore be a bit cheaper, in particular for the children.
Pros: I appreciated very much to have a very good restaurant in the hotel. The hotel is clean, quiet, original (not a commercial chain), has warm decorations and located in a nice historical village rich of culture. The owner (who is also the cook) and the personnel are very kind. Easy to park the car in front of the hotel.
Pros: Beautiful location
Cons: No soaps etc in bathroom. Dinner was ok but overpriced. Wine list confusing to read and very expensive
