We stayed one night at the Clandestino Beach Resort. My husband and I must agree with many of what others have said about this resorts negative reviews. The biggest problem with the resort is the French women who is the owner. If her attitude towards her guest and her employees does not change this resort will not stay in business its just that simple. The resort is pretty much the same as all of the resorts in Costa Rica. unless you are going to an American chain 5 star hotel. One should be prepared for the 20 min. dirt road drive. Once at the resort be prepared for the rather strange layout. The resort is not directly on the beach you must walk across the dirt road to the beach, this is fine however we thought the resort was directly on the beach and its not. The pool area sits in the front of the property and can be seen from the dirt road. All in all the resort is very nice. Our room was clean, smelled musty-normal for the area. The owner had lots of candles to assist with the smell. The pillows were HORRIBLE. You must have a car so you can get in and out easily. As others have said if your wanting more than communing with nature and reading not much else to do here. This a smoking resort so if you are not a smoker and do not like the smell of cigarette smoke while your trying eat and relax then be advised. Rude and unfriendly owner. Cigarette smoke, Food, pillows, warm beer.
Great location, right across from the beach. Pool and property were beautiful, and staff was very helpful. The road leading to the hotel is not in great condition- it's a gravel road with quite a few pot holes. Hotel could be difficult to reach depending on what kind of car you're in.
This place was pretty much perfect, down to the last detail. The breakfast buffet, which is included in the room price, is excellent.
On a beautiful, secluded beach. Delicious, large breakfast included. Good value. Good air conditioner, terrace, in-room refrigerator. Good bathroom with large shower. The several kilometers of obstacle-course gravel road to get there. 45 minutes to Manuel Antonio National Park, and to many restaurants. The close restaurants were mediocre.
The property is strategic in helping one rid themself of the usually accumulated stress and societal agitation. Neat setting. Great facility. The staff was exceptional,(at the 'helm') was helpful, interested, and personable - would highly recomm No suggested changes. For a Costa Rica property . . this was exceptional. In fact, for ANY property, this was exceptional.
