great location allowing for a day trip to Khalagadi National Park, great terrace with view on the river bed visited by springbok and oryx, very nice and comfortable room/chalet, good food, nice boma to meet people in the evening and/or watch stars. Beautiful sunset from the view point just 5 min walk from the lodge. Scenic trails for self-drive. We haven't stayed in the campsite but it looked fantastic - very private and with a nice views. This place is just perfect, stay more than 1 night.
We were very much looking forward to this stop. We liked it so much that we added another night. The desert lion tracking was special with a committed guide.
It is a bit on the expensive side.
The lion tracking with David was fantastic! A great guide with superb knowledge. We had the chance to watch 5 lions at a waterhole and later on lying in the shade of a tree. Unforgettable!!! The sundowner tour with Leon was also nice and we enjoyed our self-drive on the 4 x 4 tracks. The lady serving us in the restaurant was very polite and open minded.
Upon arrival, the check-in was poor, as we found out later. The electricity went off several times and only after a sleepless night, due to the heat and upon asking we were informed which fuses had to be activated In order to re-start the generator during nighttime. No information was given, where the emergency device is situated and how to operate it. But this is very important, as no staff is on site after about 9 pm. We regarded breakfast being poor as butter, cheese or sausages were presented in the room without air- condition for hours and not being cooled at all. (Ice I.e.) The quality of the two juices was also very poor. Dinner was ok, but nothing special. The prices of the wines were very high. The air-condition (when working) in the room was very noisy, even on low fan and the cooling result was poor. All in all we were disappointed concerning the premises. Animals around fine, even springboks coming to the restaurant 's terrace and other wildlife within eyesight. One positive remark: upon complaining they credited us 1 night out of the 4 nights we stayed.
An incredible location tucked away on a dry riverbed
When going on some of the walks we unfortunately stumbled across an old bottle dump which momentarily marred an otherwise very enjoyable walk.
Friendly and creative chef. The food looks great, but...
we didn't like the tasteless and nearly uncooked veggies. The Manageress(?) must learn a lot. An empty breakfast room at 8:30 without coffee, all tables with dirty dishes, you have to walk around to find staff (in the office).
